LOL. This is too funny lol. Are you sure the marijuana is medical? was is Dr Phil that gave you that prescription?

what you mean my street pharmacist is a quack?

if that is the sin the army is committing then may they continue to revel in it shamelessly. They can definitely spend wiser and cut back, no question. But outrageously wasteful "projects" like these in my own backyard are slipping under the radar why the masses are villifying the army for trying to protect us:

thoroughbreds have life the good life too. don't we have radars and satellites to keep an eye on north korea and iran?
i consider these warplanes as expensive toys in our quest to compete with china. we all saw how the weapons race bankrupted the soviet union.  the army must find ways to reduce its overhead cost.  whether it be cutting down on expensive toys or streamlining its infantry.

Contrary to you and many others, I do not think that many 'struggling schools' simply need more money thrown at them. Infact, I believe the national statistics show that more and more money is being spent per head of each child in public schools year after year (no doubt some of it is simply higher costs of everything). The problem with the rot in schools starts at home. More and more children are not being parented right or at all - we see this evidenced in their attitudes in school and in the community. Pumping in more money may give them Apple computers and oak-lined chairs instead of Dells and cold aluminum seats - but it will not make them better students or better children.

that's part of the problem.  there are parents who could care less about a PTA meeting but there are indeed school districts which could use a little cash.

but I think having the fastest warplane here on volatile earth is very very important - staying ahead of the technological curve is absolutely vital to me. I'm serious oh

but we can stay ahead of the technology curve by diverting some funds to argonne labs and the likes.  lockhead martin and boeing need to share the wealth jare.  i won't like though, the navy and airforce do donate a little something something to schools like mine.  the money just hasn't reached me yet.

Why now? don't you want to help the "inner-city" kids? where's your compassion Bawo? you must put your money life where your mouth is  Grin

i said crazy not stupid. inner city kids have to be saved from a safe non-violent distance  grin

This brings us back to the days of War Against Indiscipline.

I think the judgement was fair. Next time, those kids will vehemently refuse to go hawking when sent by their parents.

yeah because the kids have that much of a choice.

He seized the whole thing after the demise of his father. Most of Abiola's children got nothing from their father's wealth. Of course the children of his four recognized wives got something but what they got is not even half of what is due to them. Even his own brother from Simbiat is struggling financially now.

they are adults, can't they fend for themselves? inheritance is a gift and not a priviledge, tell that to those lazy bums.

this is what sets aristocratic families in the west apart. they build on the achievements on their parents rather than waiting for trust fund hand outs.

Politics / Minors Flogged For Hawking In Abuja by bawomolo(m): 5:20pm On Oct 21, 2010
Nine hawkers who are minors were yesterday ordered to be flogged seven strokes of the cane while 21 others were sentenced to one month imprisonment by an Abuja mobile court for hawking in Abuja.

The minor hawkers are I.K Ochine, Salisu Ibrahim, Madu Mpam, Tunde Famakinde, Ibrahim Muhammed, Sahadu Adamu, Francis Isha, Suleiman Usman and Aminu Yakubu.

Those sentenced are Ubaka Okeke, Sanusi Mustapha, Awalu Yahaya, Hannatu Galadima, Abdul Usman, Abuchi Igwe, Nelson Madela, Umar Mahammudu, Chioma Ugwu, Isah Umar, Rabiu Muhammed Fatima Abubakar. Joy Joseph, Suleman Ibrahim, Adebayo Sade, Mustapha Ahmed, Murtala Sani Suleman Usman, Daudu Abdullahi, Nuhu Muhammed and Sahabiu Saidu

The prosecutor, Barrister Eze E. Eze, had earlier told the court that the accused persons were arrested by the task force of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) while hawking at road junctions and unauthorized places within the FCT, an offence punishable under Section 35 (1) of the AEPB Act No 10 of 1997.

The accused persons pleaded guilty when the charge was read to them and begged for leniency, promising not to do it again.

The prosecutor urged the court to try the accused persons summarily under Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Magistrate Aminu Abdullahi sentenced each of the 21 hawkers to one month's imprisonment with an option of N3,000 fine and ordered that the minors be given seven strokes of cane.

The magistrate also ordered that the items seized from those sentenced should be released to them while those of the minors should not be released until they brought their parents.

Endagered species? I'll tell you what's endangered - black men & women in high places of success. I don't care for some polar bear somewhere if the 2yr old in the ghetto has not had dinner.

what, my contacts at PETA would get back at you.  if someone approaches you with red paint, RUN.

Lol . . . see? the crazy twin brother is here. No such thing as free jor. Wake up dude

i know it isn't free and that's why we shall take money from NASA and the army to get me a free medical marijuana card
why send a rover to moon when a cheap LSD trip can take you there  say no to drug kids

. I am willing to see a reduction in defense spending (along with other arms of govt) as long as it doesn't come at a cost of national security, at the cost of coming in 2nd in technological advancements.

what exactly is the national security threat. heck our home based terrorists are of more concern to me than china or some talibani dude.  the US is luckily protected by two oceans.  i personally do not see a reason why the army needs all these expensive toys (which we aren't gonna use anyway) in a time where state governments are struggle to fund health care and pension plans.

I know NASA scientists have been responsible for many discoveries ( can we say tempur-pedic beds  cheesy) but these guys are wasteful

http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/missions/x33_cancel_010301.html

our airforce buddies have expensive, maintenance cost guzzling toys of their own too

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/02/AR2010030203930.html

I personally would like to see this money diverted to our national labs and research institutes or to rescue struggling state school boards like the one in Detroit.    landing on the moon or having the fastest warplane is not that much of a priority IMO.

There are croonies in every belief or ideological system. No be today jor . . . for every far-right 'nut', I'm willing to bet there are 2 far-left nuttier

i agree. mzdarkskin sounds a bit naive. i wonder how she would feel if her boyfriend marries another women while leaving her in the states.  one big happy family right? one beautiful/creepy thing about polygamous households is that the men have mistresses along with their WIVES.

it's a mess to watch and lets not talk about inheritance tussles.

ABSOLUTELY. In fact I defend polygamy IF it is agreed to by all parties. I dont see anything wrong with it. My boyfriend is African and his father has 3 wives and LOTS of children! So in their family having big families is a tradition as well as polygamy. He himself doesn't have a desire to have more than one wife because "one is enough pain" LOL but on a serious note we have discussed the possibility.

interesting. i won't argue against that.

Republicans will take back the house, lose the senate but will be totally ineffective. Did anyone get to read the republican "pledge" today? What a complete joke. They included cancellation of TARP as part of the "pledge"? Did someone not tell them that TARP by statute will become null and void by Oct 2, 2010? Grin I rest my case.
