32 pages and counting. lets go . Travelista: Manny, stop while you're still ahead. You, of all people, aren't capable of schooling me on anything, let alone constitutional law (*snort*), when you claim that the original constitution spoke of equality for sexual orientation. The men that the Founding Fathers were talking about as having been created equal were White, male land owners. I even mentioned 1 Black counting as 3/5 of a person; on what planet does that indicate equality amongst men? FL_Gators already gave a basic primer on rights and subsequent amendments; I suggest you read what she wrote and keep your smarm away from me. your arrogance is getting the best of you. we get it, you are very very smart. philip0906: Looking at Manny's replies,I just can't help but laff.He seems just 2 cool 2 be gay.Or maybe its a ploy 2 win us over(which is impossible) lol you are so paranoid, you see gays everywhere. take it easy |

Kobojunkie: I don't think you get the point. That JET and EBONY were pretty big was big back when there was little integration is no reason for BET and the rest. Rather than continuing the segregation, what makes sense is to fight for greater integration. On the majority, only gays watch gay channels, as majority of Lifetime and Oxygen viewers are women. How does that help the gay cause for more acceptance in anyway? probably as a niche channel. as shows like drag race pop up on VH1 and we get more gay characters on mainstream television, channels like logo would cease to be relevant. these channels are just a transition and would remain niche channels. remember BET came at a time where there was little black presence on MTV and co, now that has changed and bet has pretty much lost its relevance and direction. disclaimer - i do not watch drag race |

Beaf: I see.
The World is also tailored to suit right handed people. How about fighting for "left handed" rights? Fighting for gay rights doesn't make sense, in fact, it is taking the mickey. actually there are cases of left handed children being forced to use their right hands in naija. thanks to religious ignorance of course. Fighting for gay rights doesn't make sense, in fact, it is taking the mickey. it only makes sense when you have seemingly sane people wishing death on them. Lifetimes, and oxygen caters to women, not people's sexuality, which in the first place is the problem. Do we want a society where we now segregate people by sexuality or are we trying to get rid of that divide? actually i don't think so. when gay rights are recognized, we would gradually see an integration in gays into mainstream media. these happened after the civil rights movement. magazines like JET and Ebony are pretty much dying now. we won't need channels like logo when"comng out'" isn't that big of a deal. Kobojunkie: OH PLEASE!!! I am not white and I am against the idea of a BLACK channel, let alone this very one BET. That Channel is filled with filth that is daily confused with black perception. And I am also against HOMO channels . . . ok bet is an horrible channel but what about TVOne, they are good. why would you be against an homo channel, i know they have a couple. would you be against LIFETIME and OXYGEN? those stations obviously targe women. wait, how did we go from talking about homos to talking about tv |

Beaf: Strange outburst, because I don't agree with you and I debunked your theory of medical reasons for gay rights. I don't believe in gay rights. By the way, what are heterosexual rights and who fights for them and shoves them up our noses? people who talk about heterosexual rights are as silly as white people who complain about black entertainment television. the world is tailored to favor heterosexuals just like it is tailored to favor white males in the west. I don't think you would be rejected to tag on to the health insurance of your opposite sex partner. |

one more thing, isn't it the height of homophobia that anyone who doesn't espouse hate against homosexuals is automatically considered an homo from the dispora (gayness is obviously a white man disease like aids). anyway sha, where is honeric the gay slayer. hates gays so much he is slaying em in the butt |

debosky: There have been unbelievable displays of utter stupidity on this thread, but it's been fun reading at times.
Before I start, disclosure: I am not in support of homosexuality, but I do believe there is more to it than meets the eye in terms of what factors determine whether a person is gay or not.
Now to dispel some false notions on this thread:
Homosexuality has been in existence for centuries - if it didn't stop the human population from hitting 5 billion, it can't stop the human race from growing now.
Homosexuality has been in existence in Africa, prior to contact with Europeans - that is why native languages have descriptive terms for homosexuals.
Why do morons on this thread not threaten to kill fraudsters, adulterers and fornicators and only do so for gay people?
For all the misdirected 'religious' fervour here, how come Nigeria is in the abysmal mess it is in despite all your hatred of homosexuality?
Personally I don't go on parades to declare I like women, so I don't get the 'gay pride' parades and the likes, but as a group of people who are traditionally treated badly, they do require legal protection so lunatics like the ones on this thread don't kill them.
PS - for the idiots who enacted laws against homosexuality, I suggest they enact similar ones for hatred, adultery and fornication. they are not listening, all these guys are internet revolutionary. Nigeria would be a better place if they channeled all these energy into nation building. |

this happens when parties are built on personal sentiments and not ideological lines.
could you ever imagine senator ted kennedy as a republican? opposition parties in nigeria should actually develop an ideology rather than adding big words to their names. |
