Ask yourself one question: Why is it that GEJ is always a maestro only when he seems to be playing the political game? When it comes to affecting the lifes of real Nigerians all we hear are he. .he. . he. . . . . . .
Please don't bastardize the word genius for the world, afterall all knees are already bowing to your lord "GEJ".

Your Excellency, We wish to publicly offer our profound appreciation for your unprecedented recognition of the late Chief MKO Abiola, the ideals he lived by and the noble cause he died for. As you honoured him, we honour you. We have watched in dismay and bafflement, the futile efforts of previous governments to bury the uncommon heroism of MKO Abiola.
While looking ahead to your plans to shepherd this nation, you looked behind to acknowledge those you paved the path you now tread. Many sing by rote, the words “the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain” while you embody that principle. Your labour over our country will never be in vain, by the grace of the Almighty Allah.
As our leader, you chose the time and manner that you would honour this great Nigerian. It was without our input but with our full approval. His sacrifices and contributions across every sphere of public life are too numerous to list. There has never been a philanthropist on the scale of MKO Abiola in the history of Nigeria. His oft-repeated life’s ambition was to touch the life of every Nigerian one way or another.
He may have succeeded in the area of education alone. In March 1990, he donated N1m (equivalent of N40 million in 2010) to each State University, N50,000 (N2 million in 2010) to each Federal University for student welfare, N20,000 (N800,000 in 2010) to the libraries of each Federal University and N25,000 (N1 million in 2010) to each Polytechnic and College of Education. He is credited with the construction of 63 secondary schools and 41 libraries. He established Abiola Bookshops to provide affordable, locally produced textbooks in the 1980s when imported textbooks became out of the reach of ordinary Nigerians when the Naira was devalued.
He awarded over 1,000 scholarships to deserving students in tertiary institutions at home and abroad. In addition those awarded by the Federal Government, MKO Abiola awarded bursaries to every single student from Ogun State. For every N500 they received from the Federal government, they received N250 from MKO Abiola. To delve into his contributions in sports, culture and welfare would turn this letter into a thesis. In politics as in philanthropy, he is unequalled. He broke tribal and religious barriers to a clear victory.
He chose the path of valour and fought for the collective will of Nigerians from the four corners of this nation and everywhere in between. He willingly returned from exile, knowing the consequences of that action, prepared to pay with his life. The circumstances of his death shook the polity to its foundations and established the democracy we enjoy today, by far the longest period of rule by the people in our history.
He lost his wife, the late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, his businesses were decimated yet he voluntarily stayed in detention, rejecting conditional release. He died refusing to betray the mandate given to him by those who betray his memory today. No honour is too great for one of the men and women who laid down their lives for the democracy we enjoy today, that enables some to take to the streets, uttering irresponsible, abhorrent nonsense.
We take a leaf from your book and illustrate the line “help our youth the truth to know”. The government of Egypt named a school after him in appreciation of his contribution after a devastating earthquake. Egyptians did not take to the street yet to their eternal shame, some people in Lagos did. But as the great man would say, as one is crying one should still see. The machinations and motives of those sponsoring the protests are obvious.
If thirteen years of deafening silence from the Federal Government built on the blood of this man could not diminish his legacy, the actions of a few hooligans and rascals with no sense of history will certainly not. All glory and honour reside in the hands of the Almighty Allah, a righteous judge.
MKO Abiola will not be denied. We now turn to those groups who feel that their positions have been threatened by an unprecedented act of grace by Your Excellency and urge them to desist. The general elections are three years away. There is no need for blind panic or for using MKO Abiola’s name and the larger issue of June 12th to score cheap political points against the ruling party. We urge them to focus on the task of national and regional development. We assure you of our support of any decision you take in this matter. We had no expectation of your gracious gesture and neither did MKO Abiola.
He was driven by his love for Nigeria, not by the anticipation of honours. The few words you spoke provided justice and peace. No “masthead” can ever do that. We are satisfied and we are appreciative. You have acted as one who fears God and seeks to lead in justice and truth according to His will. In the final analysis and in view of the fickleness and short memory of some “students”, that is all that matters.
We conclude with the assurance that your honouree would not be disturbed by this furore were he alive to witness it. When we would tell him we don’t like his nickname of Father Christmas and ask him why he gives so much, he would say that he is not doing it for the people but for Allah and that if he helps a thousand people and only one remembers that’s enough for him. It is enough for us too as is the certain fact that in due course, each of us will go where MKO Abiola has gone and leave children behind.
With profound gratitude,

Rewind... Just to remind us that the topic is about ACN denigrating heroes like Awo and MKO: Having said this, yet another of this obvious boycott of the Awolowo fanfare came up recently in Lagos, which was tagged the 2012 Obafemi Awolowo Memorial lecture. One would have thought all governors within the South-West region and their political affiliates were going to be in strict attendance simply because of their ideological affiliations with the late sage. However, only traditional rulers and politicians obviously from the main opposition party were present.
It is such an irony that the present crop of politicians who hold sway in the political ladder of the South-West lay claim at all times to be adherents of the late Chief Awolowo, who they believe laid a proper foundation for the region, yet turn their faces in anger when his person and all he stood for is being celebrated by either his family or die hard followers.
The event which was organized by The Awolowo Foundation saw both the Oyo and Ekiti state governors refusing to attend, though later giving reasons as ‘attendance to pressing state matters’ as excuse, while the governors of Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Edo states where conspicuously silent on their inability to grace the occasion. This action by the ruling party, its governors and leaders in the zone goes to show how far the crisis between the Awo legacy and the ACN adherents continues to deepen. http://www.nigerianpilot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4749:the-rift-between-awoists-and-acn&catid=46:politics&Itemid=178Why such hatred and disrespect from ACN? Is it any shock that they can organise against MKO's legacy? |

Rewind... The incessant sponsored media attack on the family of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo by the former governor of Lagos State and sole-financier of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr. Bola Tinubu has been described as an insult on the entire Yoruba race, that hold the late sage in a very high esteem.
The Yoruba Youths Consultative Forum (YYCF) in its reaction to an article written by The Nation newspaper's Editorial Chairman, Mr. Sam Omatseye titled; “AWO FAMILY WITHOUT AN AWO,” said it was sacrilegious for Tinubu to be using his newspaper, The Nation to denigrate the family of Chief Awolowo, adding that; “it is only a Yoruba person, who is a bastard that would speak evil against the late sage and his family.”
YYCF, in a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Mr. Ayo Olorunsola warned Tinubu and his “political almajiris” to desist from attacking the Awolowo family or face the wrath of the youths.
“Our attention has been drawn to the highly ridiculous and blasphemous article written by The Nation newspaper's Editorial Chairman, Mr. Sam Omatseye titled; “AWO FAMILY WITHOUT AN AWO.”
“Though going by the character of the writer and his sponsor, one would have simply ignored the article. But an attempt by anyone, no matter his or her moral standing to bring the revered name of Chief Obafemi Awolowo to opprobrium cannot be ignored by any Yoruba person worth his or her birth.
“Most importantly, considering the source, motivator and intention of the article, we cannot keep silent even when we understand the dilemma of Tinubu and his ilk.
“In their desperation for Yoruba leadership, Tinubu and his political hanger-ons must know that no matter how hard that they tried, they cannot equal the achievements of Chief Awolowo and the good name he left behind.
“This is because unlike Tinubu, Awolowo never sought to purchase Yoruba leadership with ill-gotten wealth, using corrupt judges and highly compromised media. The late sage simply became Yoruba leader on merit!
“Therefore, Tinubu and his hatchet writers are warned to desist from disparaging and blackmailing the Awolowo family simply because the family has refused to be conscripted into the 'Yoruba leadership for sale' agenda.” http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/53426/1/yoruba-youth-group-berates-tinubu-acn-over-attack-.htmlThe NURTW calibre of ACN morals is quite clear. |

It is important for GEJ's opponents to continue calling him names like "coward," "weakling," "retardeen" etc. It is only in Nigeria that a quiet person is regarded as foolish; this is despite the fact that quiet people are much more intelligent than the average person and the fact that 60% of geniuses are quiet.

I find the inputs of the usual ACN flap-mouths to be as empty and NURTW-like as expected (like leader, like follower). Why hasn't a single one of these folk at least admitted that the denigration by ACN of Awo, Gani, MKO etc is a disgrace? Ain't you man enough?Instead, the air is filled with cries of, "he is Igbo!" "he is Reno Omokri!" Well, I am neither, but in any case, how would such peripheral inanities lessen the impact of ACN's strategy of insulting great sages, historical colossuses and leaders? www.nairaland.com/attachments/550057_TinubuDrugsIndictment_gifae809e8a0cdcb8b96a43c2b06813cdcbBattle For Yoruba Leadership – HID Awolowo Curses Tinubu
https://www.globalnewsnig.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/awolowo12-210x300.jpg
The brouhaha generated by the offensive article on the Awolowo family, written by Sam Omatseye, chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation newspaper, is yet to die down. Not surprisingly, the Awolowo believe the article was prompted by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in furtherance of his ambition to become the leader of the Yoruba, which has been vacant since the death of Pa Abraham Adesanya. Since the article was published, many people, especially in the filial Awo clan, have come out to condemn the writer, believing he was working on the agenda set by Tinubu to actualise his dream.
Perhaps what annoyed the Awolowo family is the paragraph where the writer stated that: “I wrote once that this woman whom Awo once described as the jewel of inestimable value has lost value to his cause. If he came back to life, he would have committed the extraordinary act of divorce after death. Even his newspaper, The Tribune, has so stumbled and fallen that it swims in Awo’s vomit.” And they have been quick to give it back to the perceived sponsor and the writer of the offending article.
In her own reaction, Mama HID Awolowo stated: “At 95, I have lived long enough to expect common civility from younger ones, assuming that they received and imbibed proper home training. Having just lost my daughter less than two months ago, I also expect that normal people would spare me the kind of vitriolic attack that was unleashed on my person and my family; particularly as such an attack was entirely unprovoked.”
The matriarch of the Awolowo family went further to say that the abject insult that was heaped on her person by Omatseye, for daring to rise above partisanship and pursue the common good, has caused her the kind of pain that can only be dealt with by offering it to God, whose wheel of justice may grind slowly but is guaranteed to grind exceedingly fine.
Global News further learnt that the Awolowos felt so bitter that because of political gains and position, someone like Tinubu could go to the extent of mocking the family even with the death of the first son of the family Segun who died in tragic motor accident years back.
The matriarch, according to those who are very close to the family, has placed a curse on Tinubu that no matter how much money in his possession, he would never be comfortable and happy all his life and would not happy at his old age, just as he is making her to be unhappy at her old age.
Also Oluwole Awolowo, the son of HID, doesn’t spare a word against those who are rubbishing his family and mother. In his own response he stated that: “Eni to maa dagba kii gba opa lowo arugbo,” meaning: anyone who wishes to live to his full age will avoid disparaging the elderly ones. I hope you understand this as an African man.
Meanwhile, controversial man of God, Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly, recently in one of his Sunday sermons said that a bastard will never be Yoruba leader. Though he didn’t mention Tinubu’s name specifically, everybody including the deaf and dumb got the message about the person he is referring to.
Bakare in his sermon said, “Look at the madness going on in Y bastard there is yet to grow up.
“If you are a bastard, there is nothing you can do to cover up with money. Where is your father’s compound? A bastard pretending to be a patriot. We are proud of our heritage because we have goodly heritage. There are those who call themselves nobles who are under the influence of Jezebel. Until they drink kainkain (local gin), they cannot function. They pretend to be larger than life,” he added.
He likened the person angling to take over the leadership of the Yoruba to the Biblical Abimelech who forcefully took over a kingdom that did not belong to him and was eventually destroyed. He also declared that: “If you are trusting the sjavascript:void(0);on of a concubine to deliver you, you are in trouble.” http://www.globalnewsnig.com/?p=51 |
