Politics › Re: Why Ndigbo Must Vote APC, By Tinubu by bedspread: 5:47am On Feb 21, 2019 |
[s] Mrakeli: National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has urged all Lagos residents, especially the Igbo community, to vote for the party in the general elections. He noted that Lagos could decide to behave in a way that would not favour the visitors, if they fail to support the party.
Tinubu spoke yesterday at the party’s Ikeja secretariat while addressing thousands of party faithful after the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) meeting.
Brimming with confidence for victory at the polls, the former governor said: “We appeal to our Igbo brothers, from the east; this is the state where you conduct your business; your children are in our schools. We don’t discriminate against them in our West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) or Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) fees. Even in our universities, they take the benefit of our tuition allowances and all that. Now, we say help us; vote for us and our candidates.”
Tinubu, accompanied by the party’s governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwoolu; his deputy, Kadri Hamzat, and other party leaders, reminded the Igbo how much they benefitted from the APC government, adding that he was specifically instrumental in the aversion of the demolition of Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPAMDA) business district, owned majorly by the Igbo.
“We are in this together. We will know how many votes we will get from Ojo, Alaba, Surulere, Amuwo-Odofin, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, including Oshodi. He assured the party of victory, urging the supporters to be peaceful during the elections and pray for the successful conduct of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“You must go out to vote. Remember the orders of the president against ballot box snatchers and electoral violators. I am not the commander in chief; hence I don’t control any army. Avoid violence and all forms of activities that will put you in trouble and be assured that after the elections we will re-converge to celebrate our victory,” he added.Publicity secretary of the party in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe, described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as an ordinary citizen who has no right to order the military.
Responding to Buhari’s remark that the military and the police had been directed to be ruthless at ballot box snatchers, Atiku had said that deployment of troops “creates an atmosphere of warfare, which in turn heats up the polity, which is why it is not a common occurrence in other climes during elections.”
Igbokwe said: “Apart from INEC, there are other institutions that can help to stabilise our democracy; we have the police and the army. We need to make use of them to sanitise our electoral process. The president its clear that anyone who tries to circumvent the electoral process has himself to blame, and we are saying that ballot box snatchers are more dangerous than armed robbers.”

[s] franchasng: Irrespective of my political affiliation, I won't resist to share the message I got, and I will make it simple.
Buhari of APC will win the 2019 Presidential election. I don't know if it will be by rigging or merit but he will win Atiku.
Atiku and PDP will protest through court, but at the end, Buhari's victory will stand.
Buhari will not complete his 2nd tenure as President. I don't know if it will be by nature's calling or something else but Buhari won't finish his tenure.
There will be attempt to stop Osinbajo from becoming the President after Buhari, this may be life threatening.
Rochas Okorocha, Rochas, hmmmm
Nigeria will witness another semi economy recession after Buhari wins. International community and foreign investors will desert Nigeria.
Insecurity will increase so rapidly all over Nigeria. Middle belt will become so unsafe, and Southeast will be volatile too.
APC will witness more dramatic internal wars that will threaten the existence of the party.
Militants will completely overrun Sokoto, Gombe and Taraba.
Fulani herdsmen brutality will worsen in coming months after May.
Pray for Nigeria, the future is so dark for Nigeria, if you are an ambitious Nigerian youth and you have the means, migrate out of Nigeria soonest.
Graduates should forget about their certificates and go learn skill in order to survive the impending hard times ahead of Nigeria.

Politics › Re: PDP Will Be Defeated On Saturday - Tinubu by bedspread: 5:32am On Feb 21, 2019 |
[s] mrakeli62: All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council Co-chairman Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday urged party members in Lagos to intensify the mobilisation for Saturday’s rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.
Noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was jittery, he said the ruling party will defeat the opposition party at the poll and put it to shame.
The former Lagos State governor also explained why Igbo in Lagos should vote for the APC, saying that the government in the Centre of Excellence has never discriminated against them and other non-indigenes in the distribution of the dividends of democracy.
Tinubu, who urged women leaders to mobilise traders for the crucial poll, also advised youths to heed President Muhammadu Buhari’s advice by shunning thuggery, ballot snatching and other forms of violence.
He advised party faithful to accommodate defectors from the rival PDP, saying that they had become legitimate members of the fold whose cooperation are required for mobiliasation for victory.
Tinubu, who urged them to use their index fingers to thumb print on the ballot paper, advised the party agents and canvassers to be vigilant.
He said: “You agents must report early. Be vigilant. Shine your eyes. If an agent goes to ease himself, the canvasser will take his position. A canvasser is also an agent.”
The party said there will be a meeting of party leaders with council chairmen at his Ikoyi residence today to discuss the preparations for the Saturday election.
Exuding confidence, he said: “We will win on Saturday and we will hold a celebration rally next week.”
Tinubu addressed party members, shortly after the stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, Ikeja.
The meeting was attended by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode; his deputy, Dr. Idiat Adebule; Secretary to Government Tunji Bello; governorship candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his running mate Obafemi Hamzat; and APC Governorship Advisory Council (GAC) members – Prince Tajudeen Olusi; party chairman Tunde Balogun; one-time Finance Commissioner Olawale Edun; Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; Chief Busura Alebiosu; Chief M.A. Taiwo; Chief Murphy Adetoro; Chief Mutiu Aare; Alhaji Akanni Seriki; Olorunfunmi Basorun; Dr. Yomi Finnih; Chief Muyiwa Sosanya and Cardinal James Odunmbaku.
Other chieftains included: Former Minister of State for Defence Demola Seriki; former Deputy Governor Olufemi Pedro; Oyinlomo Dammole; Ademorin Kuye; APC Vice Chairman (Lagos West) Funso Ologunde; party secretary Wale Ahmed; publicity secretary Joe Igbokwe; his deputy Abiola Salami; Senators Musiliu Obanikoro; Ganiyu Solomon; and Adeola Olamilekan; Southwest APC Women Leader Mrs. Kemi Nelson; Lagos APC Women Leader Jumoke Okoya-Thomas; Mrs. Fausat Gbadebo; Cornelius Ojelabi; Ayodele Adewale; Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye; Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke; Sanwo-Olu’s campaign manager Tayo Ayinde; Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara; Arewa leader Kabiru Ahmed; Chris Ekwilo and House of Assembly members-Wasiu Eshilokun; Rotimi Abiru and Tunde Braimoh.
Welcoming the chieftains and party followers, Balogun urged them to pass Tinubu’s message to other members who are busy in their local governments with door-to-door campaigns at the wards.
Tinubu, who told the party congregation that he has not slept for three days, owing to his involvement in preparations for the polls, urged members to gird their loins.
He said: “Are you ready for the polls? Go out on Saturday. Don’t’ be discouraged. Take your PVCs. Go and vote and we will win. Who are we fighting? It is the PDP.”
Reflecting on the postponement of the poll, he said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ship ran into turbulence, praying that the ship should land safely and happily on Saturday.
Tinubu, who spoke in English and Yoruba, said: “INEC will land safely and happily on this election and APC will win. They destroyed INEC office and materials in Abia. They are finished on poll day. We will bury PDP. They don’t want you to vote. They don’t want you to be around. Their plot has failed.”
He added: “We are not fighting INEC. There is no nation without obstacles. No leadership without challenges. Leadership must address the challenges. We are in a growing democracy. I was governor during the bomb explosion at Ikeja in 2002. It was very daunting. But, we responded and cared about our people. That is the concern of all of us and President Muhammadu Buhari.
“WE are not fighting INEC. INEC is not our opponent. We are going to compete and we will defeat them. They do not have our strength in the Southwest, Northwest, Northeast, Middle Belt. How will they win?”
Warning against hypocrisy and divisive tendencies in the political family, the party leader said leaders were aware of the allegations against a chieftain from Badagry, Mr. Bamgbose, who has refused to work for the party after benefiting from the party’s slot.
Tinubu, who advised members to mobilise vigorously to demonstrate the strength of the APC in Lagos, said defectors to the party should be carried along.
He said: “You should emulate me. I have accommodated Obanikoro, Demola Seriki and Da Silver. This is a good example of leadership. We are a big party. We cannot but offend ourselves. As you beg God for forgiveness, you should learn to forgive your fellow human beings.”
Turning to the women, Tinubu said: “Don’t rest in your local governments. Go to the markets and stalls. Mobilise them to vote.”
He also said members who have problems and complaints should not hesitate to inform their leaders at the ward and local government levels.
Stressing the importance of grassroots mobilisation, Tinubu said: “Get the attendance register at the ward. Call meetings. You know the number of polling units in your areas. Work hard. You must win. Tomorrow, I will hold meeting with the 57 council chairmen at Bourdillon.”
The former governor admonished youths to shun unruly behaviours on poll day to avoid unpleasant consequences.
He said: “Let me warn our boys. You heard President Buhari’s warning on thuggery, ballot snatching. You heard him. I don’t command an Army. The Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is my Army. We must go out to vote for president Buhari and our National Assembly candidates on February 23 and our governorship and House of Assembly candidates on March 9. The warning is: don’t fight.”
Tinubu also warned some restless youths against the harassment of of esteemed party elders during meetings, saying that anyone who is culpable is an agent of the PDP. He said APC is interested in celebrating democracy and not violence.
Urging Igbo in Lagos to vote for the APC, he said: “We appeal to our Igbo brothers from the East. This is the state where you conduct your business. Your children are in our schools. There is no discrimination against them in WAEC, NECO and tertiary fees. This time, we are asking you to help us. We will look at the votes from Ojo, Alaba, Surulere, Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun.”

[s] Arubajagz: There are indications that the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has been compromised in respect of conducting the 2019 general elections, impeccable sources have revealed.
The revelation came on the heels of the postponement of the elections by a week from Saturday, February 16 based on logistical challeges allegedly faced by the electoral commission occasioned by bad weather and sabotage.
However, there are misgivings and dissatisfaction within tjr political circle as there are accusations and counter-accusations between the two leading political parties - All Progressives Congresss (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
But the head of the commission may be acting a script as people in charge of relevant agencies responsible for INEC logistics have denied the logistics claim, saying the nation's weather was good days to the scheduled day of the elections and the airports were ordered to operate 24 hours in order to deliver critical electoral materials across the country.
The Minister of State for Transportation (Aviation), Hadi Sirika and the leadership of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) have all put a lie to the INEC chairman's claim of bad weather as one of the reasons for the election postponement.
Also, Prof Yakubu has been acting alone within the INEC structure, thereby sidelining the most experienced National Commissioners - Mr Lekki and Hajiya Amina Zakari - while working with a close knit group that has be compromised by the opposition.
"Professor Ibeano is said to be closely coordinating with Professor Chidi Odinkalu and indeed, the six-point plan of the INEC chairman was never discussed within INEC or with his commissioners," one of the sources revealed.
It also been discovered that since the stakeholders meeting pf last Saturday, the chairman is yet to meet his team as the national commissioners were at home on Sunday despite efforts to keep the situation room open.
Insider sources confided in our reporter that the INEC chairman is working against the ruling APC, saying that the logistics issue and trying to hold elections without adequate preparations were designed to suppress APC votes and it took the insistence of some national commissioners, who are disposed to the fair conduct of the polls, to ensure the postponement was done in order to demobilise saboteurs.
"Initially, their goal was to force elections with shoddy logistics and announce results with high degree of low turnouts from APC strongholds.
"Interestingly, the INEC chairman has been sitting at the Abuja Airport since Friday. No one knows what he is clearing and for what. It means there is a possibility that alternative election materials are being cleared as all clearings have been concluded since and INEC is not using Abuja airport as major incoming hub. Indeed nothing can be done at airport that can’t be done elsewhere under these circumstances," another source said.
Meanwhile, Prof Yakubu's express pronouncement on Saturday that there is no more campaigns by the political parties is another cause for concern, as there are indications that it might be a kind of fait accompli regarding the election results.
"If he (INEC chairman) is not compromised, why will he do that? Campaigns can only stop 24 hours to the elections as specified by the Electoral Act. So, why he is going against the law if there is no deal with some people against others," he added. [/s] |
