Politics › Publish All Properties Recovered And Owners Before Selling Them -Fayose Tells FG by BeeBeeOoh(op): 5:40pm On Feb 21, 2018 |
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has told the federal government to publish all the property it claimed to have recovered and their owners as well as buyers when they are eventually sold.
The governor, who said Nigerians were no longer interested in being governed with propaganda, said “Nigerians want to know how many properties were recovered and who bought the properties. Who authorized the sale? Nigerians want details, not propaganda because most of these properties have been sold and resold.”
According to a statement on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said, “The federal government should create a website where all the properties recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and to whom they were sold will be listed so that by one click, Nigerians will have information.”
The governor said it will be difficult to trust the EFCC reports on recovered loots, asking; “How can Nigerians continue to trust the position of the same EFCC that said in April 2016 that the allegation of corruption against Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Chairman, Danladi Umar was mere suspicion and would be difficult to proof in court, but now charged the same CCT chairman to court on the allegation it described as mere suspicion?”
He said; “On November 23, 2017, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, the Chairman of the Senate committee investigating the botched reinstatement and promotion of the former Chairman the Presidential Task Force on Pensions, under the leadership of Ibrahim Maina told Nigerians on the floor of the Senate that almost all the exotic properties recovered from alleged looters of Pension Funds had already been re-looted by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Last year November also, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), while testifying before the National Assembly alleged that one of the properties recovered from alleged looters of Pension Funds was already sold to a Lagos lawyer.
“How are we now sure that the same people who re-looted the recovered pension loots have not also looted the recovered properties the President said will be sold?’
Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; “The federal government cannot continue to tell Nigerians stories without background. The era of Baba has said is gone in Nigeria. The era of the president acting like a lord of manor is gone, we are in a democracy.
“Many people were blackmailed and coerced to surrender their properties. A typical case is the one on Malabu Oil where people have been scandalized, harassed and their names destroyed via media trial and the Attorney General of the Federation now come out to say that there is no enough evidence to try them. What will now happen to the lies told against those people?
“The federal government should therefore publish and state clearly what has happened in the EFCC between 2006 and now. Nigerians need to know the recovered properties sold by Ibrahim Magu’s predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde and other previous EFCC chairmen. Those who bought them should be made public too.” http://dailypost.ng/2018/02/21/publish-properties-recovered-efcc-owners-selling-fayose-tells-fg/

Politics › Abia House Of Assembly To Pass Anti-Grazing Bill Over Herdsmen/Farmer's Clashes by BeeBeeOoh(op): 3:05pm On Feb 21, 2018 |
Deputy speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and the chairman, House Committee on Information, Rt. Hon.Cosmos Ndukwe, on Wednesday said the House would soon pass into law the anti-grazing bill before it.
Ndukwe made this known while interacting with newsmen at the Assembly complex in Umuahia. According to him, the House was mindful of the fact that the farming season was almost around the corner, and that the farmers needed some security as they go into farming season, hence the need for accelerated passage of the bill into law to curtail the occasional clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
On the delayed passage of 2018 appropriation bill by the State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker said that the committee has done its duty by extending invitation to the MDAs to defend their budget proposals, adding that the house would not approve any money for any MDAs if the purpose of such money could not be defended.
He further pointed out that by the end of this week, the house will go ahead to pass the appropriation bill into law for only those MDAs who were able to defend their budget proposals.
His words: ‘Very soon, We will pass the anti grazing bill before us. You can see the clashes between farmers and herdsmen, so we will ensure accelerated passage of the bill curtail to the occasional clashes between farmers and herders’.
“Also on the delayed passage of 2018 appropriation bill, the committee has done their work well by ensuring all the MDA’s in the state defend their budget proposal. And let it be made known to the MDA’s that the house will not approve any budget for any MDA’s if the purpose of such budget can not be defended”, he said. http://dailypost.ng/2018/02/21/abia-assembly-set-pass-anti-grazing-bill/

Politics › Herdsmen Killings: What President Buhari Has Done So Far - VP Osinabjo Reveals by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:19pm On Feb 20, 2018 |
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, on Tuesday highlighted what the Buhari administration has done so far in response to herdsmen killings.
This is contained in a release by his spokesman, Laolu Akande.
Osinbajo said government had deployed mobile police forces to troubled areas and also both the army and Air Force, the Nigerian Army formations and units in Benue State for example.
He cited the 72 Special Forces Battalion which has consistently maintained Forward Operating Bases at the flash areas covering Guma, Logo, Katsina-Ala and Agatu Local Government Areas.
He added: “The operation has the generic name Operation MESA, but it is nicknamed Operation ZENDA in Benue State. The Army had within the last few days scaled up the size of troops and equipment in Agatu, Guma, Katsina-Ala and Logo Local Government Areas of Benue State.
“The Army also recently deployed troops at Awe and Tunga Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, in order to monitor and block the gaps that were presumed to be used as staging points by armed herdsmen to attack communities in Benue State.
“Additionally, troops of 93 Battalion, Takum in Taraba State, also occupy blocking positions as well as maintain constant liaison with troops in Benue State.
“Furthermore, the command and control structure of the Army formations and units in Benue and contiguous states have been reorganized.
“Accordingly, more troops were deployed and the Commander 707 Special Forces Brigade was reassigned to Taraba State for effective command and control of troops operating in the entire Benue/Taraba general area. And next week, the Nigerian Army will flag-off Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA, to checkmate the activities of armed bandits and militias in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa and environs.” http://dailypost.ng/2018/02/20/herdsmen-killings-buhari-govt-done-far-osinbajo/]

Politics › Nigeria's Problems Didn't Start On May 29 2015 - Lai Mohammed Says by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:55pm On Feb 20, 2018*. Modified: 11:27am On Feb 21, 2018 |
...APC on rescue mission Lai Mohammed, minister of information, says some people are giving the impression that rain started beating us in Nigeria only from May 29, 2015.
He said this on Tuesday when he Andrew Hanlon, chief executive officer of TVC Communication, visited him in his office in Abuja.
Mohammed appealed to the media to contextualise their reporting so that the “looters who destroyed Nigeria would not be made to look like its messiahs”.
“We are on a rescue mission. However, the way a section of the media is reporting the challenges facing the country today does not reflect that understanding,” he said
“They are playing down the challenges that this administration has faced and which it is successfully tackling.
“For example, we did not get to where we are today in just three years. It has taken successive decades of bad governance, unbridled corruption, and lack of probity, a culture of impunity and a near state of anarchy.
“These are the ills this administration inherited and which it has set out to tackle, and this is what the media must reflect in their reporting.”
The minister said the situation of the country was prevented from becoming worse because of the prudence, probity and the anti-corruption stance of the present administration.
“Instead of recession, Nigeria could have had a total collapse of the economy and the power grid could have collapsed,” he said.
Mohammed said the manner in which the government handled Boko Haram, prevented the insurgents from overrunning Abuja just as it did major towns in the north-east.
He also said that the country’s “food imports could have tripled what it was pre-May, 29 2015 and the naira might have been worse hit.”
The minister, therefore, challenged the media to do more to educate Nigerians that it is hard to build but easy to destroy.
He said it is the responsibility of the media to educate Nigerians about efforts being made by the administration to
rebuild the nation “almost from the scratch with 60 percent less revenue” while corrupt ones paint the government bad.
According to him, apart from low revenue and deflated foreign reserve, the Buhari administration came into being when the federal government was borrowing to pay salary and 27 states were owing workers salaries and unable to pay contractors for years.
This, he added, was apart from poor infrastructure, low power generation, trillions of naira wasted as fuel subsidy, empty treasury and most parts of Borno under total control of insurgents.
“Today, the trend is being reversed and the results are showing as foreign reserves is now $42.8 billion, inflation has fallen for 12 consecutive months to 15.13%, N108 billion has been saved from the removal of maintenance fees payable to banks pre-TSA.,” he said.
“The nation is saving N24.7 billion monthly with the full TSA implementation, the elimination of ghost workers has saved the nation N120 billion, capital inflow reached $1.8 billion in the second quarter of 2017, almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.
“While Nigeria’s stock market is one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40
percent.
“Nigeria has also jumped 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.
“The administration has repeatedly given bailouts for states to pay salary.
The administration’s agricultural revolution is a huge success, with agriculture export up year-on-year by 25%, rice import from Thailand dropping 644,000 metric tonnes to 22,000 metric tonnes and rice farmers growing from 5 million to 12.3 million.
“The home-grown school feeding programme has created jobs for 61,352 cooks, and it is providing 6.4 million school children in 33,981 schools across 20 states with one meal a day.” https://www.thecable.ng/lai-nigerias-problem-didnt-start-may-29-2015Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Praktikals: They should hang all of them, so we can have one less thing to worry about. Biafra my ass. Why do you breed so much hate and vile in you? Was Biafra the reason why Nigeria is still a 6th world country even in 21st century, was Biafra the reason why the elite keep on looting the destiny of this hell of a country away, was Biafra the reason why Buhari has nothing to offer, was Biafra the reason why Nigeria can't have 18hrs power supply? I guess Biafra was the reason why Herdsmen are sending Benue indigenes to great beyond? Lastly, I hope if Nigeria end up hanging all of them would that make your Nigeria to become an Eldorado? If "NO" happens to be your answers, then you have a bigger problem to tackle than shouting Biafra up and down NL |
