Politics › EFCC Re-Arraigns Femi Fani-Kayode On Amended 17-Count Charge by BeeBeeOoh(op): 6:47pm On Jan 24, 2022 |
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday re-arraigned a former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode at a Federal High Court in Lagos, on an amended 17-count charge of alleged laundering of N4.6 billion.
Fani-Kayode is standing trial alongside a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenandi Usman; a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Yusuf Danjuma and a firm, Jointrust Dimensions Nigeria Ltd.
The defendants were formerly on trial for the alleged charges before the former trial judge, Justice Mohammed Aikawa.
They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail, following which trial began.
But proceedings stalled when Justice Aikawa was transferred out of the Lagos division.
The case was consequently assigned to a new judge, Justice Daniel Osaigor, and proceedings started de novo (anew).
On Monday, the defendants were confronted with the amended 17-count charge and they each pleaded not guilty.
Prosecution counsel Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo then (SAN) prayed the court for a trial date.
Defence counsel, Chief Ferdinard Orbih (SAN), did not oppose him but applied for the court to allow the defendants to continue on the existing bail conditions granted by the former trial judge.
In a bench ruling, the court granted Orbih’s application and also adjourned the case till March 11, for trial.
In the charge, the defendants were alleged to have committed the offences between January and March 2015 in Lagos.
They were alleged to have at various times, unlawfully retained over N4.6 billion, which, according to the EFCC, they reasonably ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of unlawful acts of stealing and corruption.
In counts 15 to17, Fani-Kayode and one Olubode Oke, who is said to be at large, were alleged to have made cash payments of about N30 million to one Paste Poster Co (PPC) of No 125 Lewis St., Lagos.
The said payments were alleged to have been made in excess of amounts allowed by law without going through a financial institution.
All offences were said to have contravened the provisions of sections 15 (3) (4), 16 (2) (b), and 16 (5) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012. https://thenationonlineng.net/efcc-re-arraigns-fani-kayode-on-amended-17-count-charge/

Politics › meth: NDLEA Sets Up Task Force To Dismantle Cartel Behind Meth by BeeBeeOoh(op): 2:55pm On Jan 24, 2022 |
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has set up a special task force working across the country to track and dismantle drug cartels behind the production and distribution of methamphetamine, popularly called meth, being abused by youths in parts of the country.
Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), disclosed this while addressing journalists at a press briefing at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja, held to mark his first anniversary in charge of the Agency, on Monday.
According to a statement by NDLEA Spokesman, Femi Babafemi, Marwa challenged communities across Nigeria to take ownership of the war against drug abuse as those in South-East states are doing by standing up to those engaging in abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs.
Marwa was quoted as saying, “If you look at the preponderance of the dealers in drugs, I’m not saying anything new but the South-East has the predominance and that’s a fact. Who are the Boko Haram people? I know they are not Yoruba and I know they are not people from Edo, but if you go to the North-West and ask who are the bandits, I know they are not from Cross River or from Lagos. If you ask the people doing the human trafficking, the women, you know from where. So definitely, we have the preponderance of the drug dealers from the South-East, but what more do you have; the greatest efforts by communities to rid the country and their communities of drug use are from the South-East. Clearly, in the same South-East, they are doing two things; first, they are telling their fellow travellers who are not decent that look you are the very few who are spoiling our names here. Stop it!
“And more importantly, they are ridding their communities of drug abuse, they have taken the ownership of the war themselves against drug abuse especially the meth. By the way, we have set up a special task force to face that challenge and very soon you would hear and see the results of our efforts.
“In essence, what I am saying is that I am now taking the South-East as an example for all the other communities in Nigeria. This war has to start from the bottom, from the communities; set up your War Against Drug Abuse, WADA, Committees. In every community, you are the ones who know those patent medicine stores that sell drugs, the mai shayi, those at the corner ends of the streets who sell and hawk drugs, you know the traffickers and you know those who use them. Take this war to your communities because you know these people, cleanse your communities, and take ownership of this war and the NDLEA will always be there to back you up. However, the NDLEA does not and will not support the flogging of the culprits and some of the other human rights abuses. We will be there to support you with counselling and treatments. And I urge the entire country to take an example of the ownership of the war against drug abuse from the South East.”
Marwa attributed the successes recorded in the drug war in the past year to God, support of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), National Assembly, Minister of Justice and other stakeholders including international partners such as UNODC, EU, and foreign governments as well as local CSOs and NGOs.
He listed the arrest of 12, 306 suspects, including seven drug barons; conviction of 1, 400 offenders; seizure of over 3.4 million kilograms of assorted drugs; drugs and cash worth over N130 billion and the counselling and rehabilitation of 7, 761 drug users as some of the achievements recorded in 2021 in the area of operation.
While promising to build on the foundation laid in 2021, Marwa said the Agency under his leadership now has a clear roadmap to the future.
He said, “The Agency has come a long way. And there is still a long way to go. We have a clear vision of where we are headed, and there is a roadmap to that destination. Today, the improvement in our fortune as an organisation is driving the NDLEA workforce to continue to push for the attainment of organisational goals and fulfilment of our core mandate of securing our country against the drug scourge. We all believe in the vision of the new NDLEA and we are committed to its mission. Our mandate is to ensure a drug-free Nigeria. We shall continue to play our role towards the achievement of that goal.” https://punchng.com/ndlea-sets-up-task-force-to-dismantle-cartel-behind-mkpuru-mmiri/

Politics › 2023: North Has No Justification To Remain In Power - Tanko Yakassai by BeeBeeOoh(op): 2:38pm On Jan 24, 2022 |
Tanko Yakasai, an elder statesman, has said it will be unjust for Northern Nigeria to still demand the presidency in 2023 in spite of the agitations for power shift to the South at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
DAILY POST reports that there have been heated debates among stakeholders in the nation’s polity over power rotation between the North and the South ahead of the 2023 general elections.
At the moment, prominent northerners like the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; and a former Senate President Bukola Saraki have shown interest in the 2023 presidency.
But Yakasai in reaction to the declaration of interest by Northerners said while he is not a card-carrying member of any political party, it would be an injustice to the South for northerners to aspire for the presidency after the expiration of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
He said, “How can it be that it is always us the Northerners that will rule? There is no justice in this matter, we rule, they (South) rules, that is justice.”
”I am wondering what the northerners will say to the people? What will they show to the citizens of Nigeria that they benefited or will benefit in order for them to give their votes?
”In the six to seven years, what have the northerners done? What achievement has the leadership accomplished that helped in the development of the country, its economy or any other development that helps the people?
”What major achievement do the northerners have that they can use to call upon all other Nigerians to give them votes again?’
The elder statesman said his interest in politics from the beginning had always been about justice, explaining that his support for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, was to make sure Nigeria went with the method of letting any president run his second tenure after his first; just like he said earlier.
He explained that if the first four years of the tenure are not enough for the president to accomplish his goals, then eight years will be enough for him as long as he has the plan on how to accomplish them. https://dailypost.ng/2022/01/24/2023-north-has-no-justification-to-remain-in-power-tanko-yakasai/

Food › NAFDAC Bans Alcoholic Drinks In Sachets, Small Volume PET by BeeBeeOoh(op): 10:07am On Jan 24, 2022 |
***Re-Affirms Commitment To Implement Stringent Regulations Against Alcohol Abuse Nation-wideABUJA – The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has stopped the registration of alcohol in Sachet and Small volume PET and Glass bottles below 200ml amidst other stringent regulatory measures in a decisive move to reduce availability and curb abuse of alcohol in the country.
Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye who dropped the hint in Abuja said registration of new alcoholic drinks in Sachet and Small volume PET and Glass bottles above 30% ABV (alcohol by volume) has been banned by NAFDAC following the recommendation of a high powered Committee of the Federal Ministry of Health and NAFDAC on one hand, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Industry represented by Association of Food, Beverages and Tobacco Employers (AFBTE), Distillers and Blenders Association of Nigeria (DIBAN) in December, 2018.
Adeyeye said the Agency will ensure that validity of renewal of already registered alcoholic products in the affected category will not exceed year 2024.
The Director-General , however, explained that Manufacturers of low volume alcohol beverages (200ml) with satisfactory Laboratory reports, which were already submitted to NAFDAC for registration before this decision, have been directed to reformulate their products to stipulated standards free of charge.
According to her, DIBAN was also given a matching order to embark on intensive nation-wide sensitization campaigns against underage consumption of alcohol by adolescents below the age of 18 years in the bid to stem the tide of alcohol abuse in the country.
She explained that the Producers of Alcohol in Sachets and Small volume agreed to reduce production by 50% with effect from January 31st 2020 while ensuring the products are completely phased out in the country by 31st January, 2024.
Even as we grapple with the containment of COVID-19 pandemic, NAFDAC is resolutely committed to the strict implementation of the regulations and regulatory measures towards safeguarding the Health of Nigerians particularly the vulnerable youths against the dangers of reckless consumption of Alcohol, Prof. Adeyeye reiterated. https://independent.ng/nafdac-bans-alcoholic-drinks-in-sachet-small-volume-pet/

Politics › SERAP Takes Buhari To ECOWAS Court Over Secrecy In Loan Spending, Debt Crisis by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:59pm On Jan 23, 2022 |
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over “secrecy in the spending of loans so far obtained, the unsustainable level of borrowing by the government and the 36 states, debt crisis, and the disproportionately negative impact of these retrogressive measures on poor Nigerians.”
In the suit number ECW/CCJ/APP/05/22 filed last week before the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja, SERAP is seeking: “An order directing and compelling the Federal Government to issue an immediate moratorium on borrowing by itself, and the 36 states, in conformity with the country’s international human rights obligations.”
SERAP is also seeking “an order directing and compelling the Federal Government to publish details of spending of the loans obtained by governments since 1999 including the list of projects and locations of any such projects on which these loans have been spent.”
In the the suit filed by SERAP and behalf of concerned Nigerians, the organization contends that, “Persistent and unsustainable borrowing by the federal and state governments and the crippling debt burden undermine the rights of Nigerians to economic and social development, and are antithetical to the public interest.”
SERAP is arguing that, “The crippling debt burden is a human rights issue within the jurisdiction of the ECOWAS Court because when the entire country is burdened by unsustainable debts, there will be little money left to ensure access of poor and vulnerable Nigerians to legally enforceable socio-economic rights.”
SERAP is also arguing that, “There is lack of transparency and accountability in the spending of the loans so far obtained, and opacity around the terms and conditions in loan agreements, including repayment details for these loans. The details of the projects on which the loans are spent are shrouded in secrecy.”
SERAP is also seeking “an order directing and compelling the Federal Government to conduct assessment of the borrowing by governments since 1999 to address the dire consequences of unsustainable debts on people and communities and to ensure that borrowing at all levels of government considers the human rights impacts.”
In the suit filed by SERAP lawyers Kolawole Oluwadare and Opeyemi Owolabi, the organization contends that, “Long-term unsustainable debt can be a barrier to the government’s ability to mobilize resources for human rights, and may lead to taxes and user fees that impact negatively on vulnerable and marginalized Nigerians.”
The suit, read in part: “If not addressed, the escalating borrowing and looming debt crisis would cripple the ability of both the Federal Government and the 36 states to deliver ensure basic socio-economic rights, such as quality healthcare, education, and clean water of the most vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the population.”
“Without a moratorium on borrowing, the Federal Government and many of the 36 states may be caught in a process driven mostly by creditors’ needs. This will result in an exorbitant social cost for the marginalized and vulnerable sectors of the population.”
“The ability of the Nigerian government to ensure human rights is inextricably related to the ability to spend needed resources. Growing debt burdens and debt repayment difficulties will have negative impacts on the ability of the Defendant to fulfill the basic socio-economic rights of poor and vulnerable Nigerians.”
“Sustainable debt management by the Federal Government and state governments will contribute to mobilizing resources for human rights and essential public services, and promote a culture of responsible borrowing.”
“The Federal Government and many of the 36 states would seem to be in debt distress or at high risk of debt distress. According to reports, the Senate and House of Representatives recently approved the loans of $5,803,364,553.50 and a grant component of $10m under the 2018-2020 External Borrowing (Rolling) Plan of the Federal Government.”
“This followed previous approvals by the National Assembly of $16.2 (16,230,077,718) billion loan; €1 (1,020,000,000) million and a grant component of $125 million loan; $36.8 billion, €910 million loans, and a grant component of $10 million; $8.3 billion and €490 million loans; $6.1 billion, $1.5 billion and 995 million loans; and $4(4,054,476,863), €710 million and grant component of $125 million.”
“Several of the 36 states are also facing a debt crisis, and vicious debt cycles. According to the Debt Management Office, the foreign debt stock of the Federal Government, 36 state governments and the Federal Capital Territory presently stands at $37.9bn.”
“The loans from China alone amount to $3.59bn. According to the UN Independent Expert on foreign debt and human rights, Nigeria faces debt service relative to tax revenues that exceed 20 per cent, with escalating social tensions linked to poverty and inequality.”
“According to the World Bank’s IDA FY21 Report, with debt exposure of $11.7 Billion US Dollars, Nigeria ranked fifth among the top 10 countries with highest debt risk exposure. The top four countries are India with $22 billion, Bangladesh ($18.1 Billion), Pakistan ($16.4 Billion), and Vietnam ($14.1 Billion).”
“While it is critical for the Federal Government and state governments to have adequate resources to fund their budgets, it is equally critical for governments to give consideration to the human rights impact of borrowing. Persistent borrowing is inconsistent with the country’s human rights obligations.”
SERAP is also asking the ECOWAS Court for the following reliefs:
1. A DECLARATION that the failure of the Defendant to halt the persistent and unsustainable borrowing amounts to a breach of the Plaintiff’s and other Nigerians’ rights to the enjoyment of socio-economic rights, and development, as guaranteed under articles 2, 9, 11, 12 and 13 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and articles 2, 15, 16, 17, 22 and 24 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Righ.
2. A DECLARATION that the failure of the Defendant to halt the persistent and unsustainable borrowing amounts to a fundamental breach of Nigeria’s human rights obligations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
3. AN ORDER directing and compelling the Defendant to adopt and ensure effective measures to address transparency and accountability gaps in spending of loans, and the systemic and widespread corruption in ministries, departments and agencies, as documented by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, including in the 2019 Audited Report.
4. AN ORDER OF PERPETUAL INJUNCTION restraining the Defendant and its agents from embarking on unsustainable borrowing until the human rights impact assessment of the previous borrowing is conducted and recommendations fully implemented.
5. SUCH FURTHER orders the Honorable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances of this suit.
No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit. http://www.signalng.com/serap-takes-buhari-govt-to-ecowas-court-over-secrecy-in-spending-of-loans-debt-crisis/Lalasticlala, Mynd44

* Buhari: I will crush terrorists before I hand over in 2023
* ACF seeks urgent action against criminal acts in schoolsBenue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom has raised the alarm that herdsmen from Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Libya and Senegal were still maiming and killing the peace-loving people of his state.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to crush terrorists across the nation before he hands over power in 2023.
Buhari’s reassurance is coming as the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on governments at all levels to take urgent steps to stem the menace of anti-social and criminal acts going on in schools nationwide.
Also as part of the efforts to tackle banditry, the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states, has trained 103 youths on armed combat and intelligence gathering.
Speaking on ARISE NEWS Channel, Ortom however, disclosed that the strict enforcement of the state’s 2017 Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law has reduced the level of insecurity, pointing out that herdsmen now comply with the provisions of the law.
The state government had enacted the anti-open grazing law on May 22, 2017, to curb the nefarious activities of herdsmen carrying AK-47 rifles about the state, maiming peasant farmers, killing them and taking over their parcels of land.
But following the failure of the law to deter herdsmen from destroying farmlands and killing farmers, the Benue State House of Assembly amended the law, which was signed by the governor on Thursday with stiffer penalties against violators.
Speaking on the amended legislation, Ortom acknowledged that all “is going well with the enforcement of the law except for the notorious criminal elements of Fulani herdsmen, who came from Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Libya and Senegal.”
Ortom noted that the intention of the criminal elements “is not for grazing or doing cattle business, but to send people away and take over their land.
“Currently, as I talk to you, those people who come around with AK-47 rifles, AK-49 rifles and other associated sophisticated weapons are not just here with cattle. These notorious elements come to kill or maim our people.”
The governor cited the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs), who attempted to return to their homes and continue with their farming activities, but were attacked, maimed and killed.
He lamented that the activities of the notorious criminal elements “are part of the reasons we have still over 1.5 million IDPs in our camps across the state.
“The children, who are not going to schools, are not happy. The old men, who are forced to stay in these camps, are not happy. The camps we established here are not even standard. Sometimes, the camps are sited in the school environment.
“The one close to a standard camp is what we have in Makurdi here. The General Theophilus Danjuma Committee constructed it to rehabilitate people. No person wants to live in this camp. But they are forced to live there.
“They want to go back. I am ready to provide logistics for them so that they can go back. But those who attempted to go back were maimed, killed and raped. These terrorist Fulani herdsmen amputated women’s hands.
“The security personnel posted to Benue State have also done their best. But over 100 of them have been killed since 2017. If security personnel, who were trained with sophisticated weapons, were killed, what do you expect averaged farmers, who were displaced and in distress, to go back and do?”
The governor, thus, commended all security agencies including Operation Whirl Stroke, the Army, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the agro rangers for working hard to ensure compliance with the anti-open grazing law and maintaining relative stability in the state.
The governor disputed claims that the legislation “is targeted at Fulani herdsmen in the state. This amendment came as a result of those who felt they have enough money to pay fines or demurrages.
“The issue of the cattle business, as it is today in Nigeria, is not just being done because they have collected enough money. So, they are always ready to pay those meagre sums,” noting that the Tiv, the Igede and the Idoma are equally affected.
Within five years that it had been experimented, Ortom clarified that the law “is not targeted at Fulani herdsmen, Hausa, Jukun or Igbo. It is targeted at every person, including the indigenous people of Benue State.”
He noted that the state’s livestock guards have done well by arresting over 50,000 heads of cattle, while over 600 people were arrested for carrying out open grazing.
“These include the Fulanis, the Hausas, the Tiv, the Idoma and the Igede,” he added. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/01/23/herdsmen-from-libya-mali-others-still-killing-benue-people-ortom-cries-out/

Politics › Terrorists, Criminal Gangs Will Be Crushed - Buhari Reassures by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:28am On Jan 22, 2022 |
President Muhammadu Buhari has reassured Kaduna State residents of the resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces, under his watch, to crush terrorists and criminal gangs operating in the state and other parts of the country.
The president’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement on Friday, said the president stated this at a Banquet to commemorate his official visit to the state.
The president commended the support Kaduna State had been providing to security agencies, noting the establishment of a ministry dedicated to Internal security.
‘‘I wish to assure the people and government of Kaduna State that the Federal Government is doing its utmost to contain and crush the terrorists that have been menacing our citizens and their property in parts of the country.
‘‘On behalf of the Federal Government, I commend the efforts of the Kaduna State Government to respond to the demands of development.
‘‘The relationship between our tiers of government represents an instance of successful collaboration between the national and state governments for progress, peace and prosperity.
‘‘I urge Malam Nasir El-Rufai to push on and not relent in his efforts to accelerate change and progress in Kaduna State,’’ he said.
While reviewing his programme in the state since he arrived on Wednesday, the president said he was delighted to have inaugurated projects undertaken by Governor El-Rufai.
‘‘I have been most impressed by the consistent efforts of the Kaduna State Government to develop the state, to seek progress on so many fronts and to boldly confront challenges.
‘‘Most of my visits to Kaduna State since 2015 have been in connection with clear strides of progress.
”I was here in 2017 to commission the hatchery and feed mill project of Olam, a multinational agribusiness company that has sited a major factory in Kaduna.
‘‘In August 2019, I had the honour to commission Phase 2 of the Zaria Water Project and a road project.
‘‘Therefore, I am not surprised that Malam Nasir El-Rufai and his team have undertaken such a major investment in infrastructural development.
”I am glad to say that I have seen with my own eyes the remarkable changes across all the three Senatorial zones,’’ he said.
The president declared that he looked forward to inaugurating more and more projects in the state.
He lauded the Kaduna State Urban Renewal Programme ‘‘for its sheer audacity, breadth of imagination and quality of project execution.
‘‘Projects under this programme have been described as an unprecedented investment in urban infrastructure in the state.
‘‘When completed, these projects will define the city of Kaduna for the next 50 years.
‘‘State Governments have direct responsibility for the quality of life of the residents of their state. Kaduna State is providing an example of how this can be done.’’
While highlighting other achievements of the state government, the president said it was noteworthy that the hard work of the present administration attracted 2.8 billion dollars in foreign investment to the state since 2015.
‘‘This was further confirmed by Kaduna State being ranked as the Number One state for ease of doing business in the last published World Bank Doing Business Report for sub-nationals in Nigeria.
‘‘We have also seen the El-Rufai government increase the internally generated revenue of the state by almost four times in five years, from N13bn in 2015 to N50.7bn in 2020.’’
On health, the president recalled the strong response of Kaduna State in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria early in 2020, welcoming the completion of the 136-bed Infectious Disease Centre inaugurated on Thursday.
On education, the president noted that the state had also demonstrated commitment to equality of opportunity at the basic and senior secondary levels.
‘‘The policy of making education free and compulsory up to the completion of secondary school is a significant contribution to human capital development, and I commend it wholeheartedly.
‘‘I have been told that back in 2015, you inherited a school in the Rigasa area with reportedly over 20,000 pupils instead of the planned 1,500 pupils. We are impressed that Kaduna State Government has built more schools to accommodate these students,’’ he said.
In his remarks, Gov. El-Rufai called for further military action to stop the activities of terrorists in the State.
‘‘We have spent considerable sums to support federal security agencies in the State in order to promote the safety and wellbeing of our people.
‘‘We are implementing a Safe City project, created a Vigilance Service to provide community level security services and established a Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to improve coordination among security agencies and intelligence sharing.
‘‘We believe that further military action and more boots on the ground are needed to stop the terrorists that menace our people.
”But as we tackle security, we must also move forward with the things that our resources and planning enable us to do to make life better for our people,’’ he said.
On ongoing road projects in the state, the governor informed the president that the Nnamdi Azikiwe Way (the old Western bye-Pass) is being reconstructed into a six-lane concrete highway by the Dangote Group under the President’s innovative Tax Credit scheme.
He, therefore, appealed to the president to direct the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to end the two-year delay suffered by this project and give Dangote the go-ahead to start the construction and completion of the earthworks before the onset of the rainy season.
He added that vital projects to reconstruct the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road up to the boundary with Niger state and the Birnin Gwari-Dansadau road, which passes through Katsina State and terminates in Zamfara State, were also stalled at the Federal Ministry of Works, despite the expressed readiness of the Dangote Group to work on them.
‘‘With the rapid progress in the construction of the Eastern Bye-Pass by the Federal Government, our government has completed plans to begin the construction of a new Western Bye-Pass to link with the Eastern Bye-Pass.
”This is to create the Third Ring Road of Kaduna from the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway behind the Rigasa Train Station and the Kaduna International Airport and terminating at the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
‘‘We need the commitment of the Federal Government to support this laudable project that will further expand economic opportunities for the people of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large,’’ he said.
The governor thanked Buhari for the working visit to Kaduna State as well as his unflinching support toward the development of the state. https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2022/01/22/buhari-promises-to-crush-terrorists-criminal-gangs/?amp=1

Politics › Bola Oyebamiji Sponsors Building Of CAN Secretariat In Osun Despite Been Muslim by BeeBeeOoh(op): 10:09pm On Jan 21, 2022 |
Bola Oyebamiji, commissioner for finance in Osun and the Balogun Musulumi of Ikireland, has sponsored the building of a secretariat for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Irewole LGA in the state.
Speaking at the unveiling of the secretariat on Thursday, Samson Ayokunle, CAN president, commended Oyebamiji for his efforts and urged Nigerians to embrace religious tolerance.
According to Punch, the CAN president expressed delight that the commissioner has shown a good example for others to emulate.
“Bola Oyebamiji is someone my family has been very close to for the past 20 years and he has always been like this,” Ayokunle said.
“He is a very good and tolerant man to everybody, no matter your religion. I have always known him to be partaker in the work of God be it in the church or mosque.
“I must say this is laudable. This is what we have been preaching — harmonious relationship between all religions. It is exactly what God wants. This is the only way we can achieve true peace in our nation. It is nice to know that the sponsor of this project for CAN Irewole is a devout Muslim. This gladdens my heart so much.”
Ayokunle appealed to Nigerians to realise that the country will be a better place for everyone to live if peace and tolerance is given a chance.
Also speaking, Amos Ogunrinde, the Osun CAN chairman, said the gesture is what individuals should emulate, as it will go a long way in enhancing religious tolerance.
Explaining why he sponsored the building of the secretariat, Oyebamiji said he was motivated to embark on the project by Adegboyega Oyetola, governor of the state, who he described as someone with a good heart.
He added that he took on the project because he believes it is a service to humanity which is exactly what God preaches.
He also urged well-meaning individuals to extend the hand of love and fellowship to their fellow humans in a bid to make the world a better place. https://www.thecable.ng/muslim-commissioner-sponsors-building-of-can-secretariat-in-osun/amp

Politics › Focus On Value, Create N100,000 Monthly - Aregbesola Tells Nigerian Youths by BeeBeeOoh(op): 9:09pm On Jan 21, 2022*. Modified: 5:45am On Jan 22, 2022 |
Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Friday, advised Nigerian youths to focus on value and create wealth.
He gave the counsel during induction into the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria Hall of Fame as ‘Garkuwan Matasan Najeriya’ (Shield of the Nigerian Youth).
Speaking after his decoration, the former Osun Governor hailed young citizens for their ability to recognize the need for mentorship and leaders to copy.
“I advised that the Nigerian Youth must focus on value creation. If 60m Nigerian youths can create a value of N100,000 monthly, that is N6trillion Monthly and N72trillion Annually”, he said.
The minister noted that this way, the people would be able to permanently banish poverty from the nation.
Aregbesola assured that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would ensure the enabling environment for productivity and creativity.
“The Nigerian youth possess the capacity to turn around the fortune of our country and the entire black race,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/2022/01/21/focus-on-value-create-n100000-monthly-aregbesola-to-nigerian-youths/Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Politics › Nnamdi Kanu Never Denied Being IPOB Leader - Barr. Ejiofor Replies FG by BeeBeeOoh(op): 11:54am On Jan 20, 2022 |
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has dismissed claims that his client denied being a member of the secessionist group.
Ejiofor described the claim by the Federal Government’s counsel, Shuaibu Labaran, as false and misleading.
Labaran had said Kanu denied being an IPOB member during yesterday’s court proceedings.
But, Ejiofor said Kanu only denied the claim that IPOB was a terrorist group while taking his plea.
In a statement, Ejiofor said: “Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate misrepresentation/falsehood and wrong narratives being perpetuated by some mischief-makers, and which is unfortunately gradually gaining prominence on social media platforms and print media. Hence, it is pertinent that we provide clarification and clear the doubt.
“S.M. Labaran Esq., who stood in yesterday for the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation is a colleague I hold in high esteem, but I shall resist every mischievous ploy being adopted to misinform the unsuspecting members of the public who were not privy to the details of the proceedings in court yesterday, with a wrong and mischievous interpretation of the purport of the Plea taken by our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“For the records, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never denied being the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) while taking his plea, but only stoutly denied the fact that IPOB is a terrorist organisation and that being its leader is an offence, which position is well informed.
“Members of the public should be well guided that the status of the black market order proscribing IPOB is a subject of Appeal in Appeal Number: APPEAL NO. CA/A/214/2018, pending before the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division.
“That being said, it is only laughable that the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in their desperate but futile attempt to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, brought a charge bordering on the status of IPOB, a subject matter of a competent Appeal, where issues have been joined with the same FGN.
“We do not wish to dwell further on this subject, but be rightly informed that Kanu never denied being the Leader of IPOB while taking his Plea yesterday.” https://dailypost.ng/2022/01/20/you-lied-nnamdi-kanu-never-denied-being-ipob-leader-lawyer-replies-fg/

Christianity Etc › David Ibiyeomie: Two Plots Of Land Not Enough For Me, My Cars, Entourage by BeeBeeOoh(op): 10:39am On Jan 20, 2022 |
Founder, Salvation Ministries, Port Harcourt, Pastor David Ibiyeomie has said no two plots of land given to him anywhere in the world could contain him and his fleets of cars and others.
Ibiyeomie, who spoke in a sermon, added that he had given out 50 cars in less than two months and that he gave his first money meant for car to the kingdom of God.
“When Peter gave his boat what did he get? Fishes because that was his business, when this young man gave money to roof the Church what did he get? Money. I gave my first money meant for car to the Kingdom of God, till Jesus comes I won’t worry about cars, I have given out 50 plus cars in less than 2 months, have I told you before?
“I gave my first $1,000,000 in 2012 when I had no house, I won’t be talking about house now, I have landed properties that I don’t even know about, there is nowhere in the world where you give me 2 plots of land that I will use, I can’t use 2 plots because it can’t contain me,” he said in a transcript by Church Gist.
Ibiyeomie added: “Even in the Riverine area where my parents came from, two plots can’t contain me, where will I park my cars, talk less of my entourages, riverine lands are very expensive, the lands are not even available yet two plots can’t contain me anywhere in the world, what will I do with two plots?
“People give me lands as though it is nothing, I have a young man who has a file for them, remember I first gave the money I was to use to build a house to the Kingdom, many of you don’t know how it works in this kingdom, you think it’s by seeing the Governor or the President?
“You’ve been sweating for nothing it doesn’t work like that. That is how it works, if I give God a house, I will get houses, if I was to buy a wig and I give God first I will get factories of wigs, if I was to buy clothes first and I give it to God, I will get clothes. Anything you can think about, if I was to do a wedding and I give God first, the money for the wedding will come like a magic, anything I do for him first I won’t lack it.”
He said this blessings would come with persecution, as Jesus said so, saying that “even in church people will still talk, they will even castigate you, when you see people who are giving and they get blessed, some of you in this Church will castigate them, ‘don’t mind him, he is doing like he is the only one in this Church, let me tell you he is the only one o, are you giving?”
Ibiyeomie said: “People who don’t give are very good in criticism, watch people who criticize even men of God, they don’t give, all the social media critics who criticise men of God who among them is a giver? Tell me which of them is a giver? Which of them pays people’s school fees?
“Oyedepo has scholarships for people, I have scholarship for people. How many of them are paying school fees for orphans? If you watch people who criticize men of God, they are not givers, they are stingy to everything, even in church some of you criticize me, even as I am preaching now some of you are not happy, you think everyone is happy?” https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2022/01/20/two-plots-of-land-cant-contain-me-my-cars-anywhere-in-the-world-ibiyeomie/
