Experiment first, then decide. Get a laptop and try out freecodecamp.org and Mozilla developer network. You need at least 3-6 months of constant practice.

Programming requires a certain way of thinking, stone cold dedication & ability to keep abreast of current knowledge trends. I also a newbie sha but if you want to start with python you can go to py4e.com and you can download a PDF on python programming language and you can also download the full course video on youtube. Just search for python for everybody on youtube, it's a 13 hour video by Charles Severence. Then you can also start learning on freecodecamp, w3school etc.
