Members of the house,

Please can you give me some ideas of how much it cost to set up scaffolding for plastering of a house?

How many bamboos/wood are generally needed?

The site in question is 2 sets of 3 bedroom flats on both the ground and first floor plus a pent house.

Awaiting your responses.

Thanks

Well Said,

I lost my sister in-law to fire caused by cooking while trying to pour petrol in generator.

I can't understand why the generator or even petrol was in the kitchen in the first place but it happened and she is gone for good (RIP).

We really need to educate households here on this issue because we depend alot on Petrol for so many things and its storage in houses poses a very big safety concern.

lastpage:

@EgunMogaji,

l think the focus of that issue (decking a kitchen roof with concrete) has to do with "minimising the effect", in case of a fire outbreak.
While electrical wiring or gas leakage is a major cause of fire in homes, in the Nigerian environment, there are other causes like "Stove catching fire", "adulterated fuel suddenly exploding", "Mama Sikira suddenly forgetting that she is heating palm oil... while using one eye to watch Nollywood", "Baba Chinedu trying to do a "quickie-selfie int he kitchen after returning from Booze, late in the night and then dozzing-off", e.t.c!

The point l am making is that no matter how you try, even in the "WEST", the fire-fighters are always on-call because there is always fire erupting from as many sources as our imagination can carry us.

Having assumed that, the next question will then focus on "damage control", which is where the idea of Concrete decking for a kitchen comes-in.
Concrete by its nature, is less combustible, compared to other "roofing materials" that can be used in the kitchen-area viz PVC/Wood combo, Asbestos/Wood combo, e.t.c

Concrete Decking will also "contain and restrict" the spread of the fire ...compared to the other methods as fire generally burn "Upwards" and the Decking will definitely restrict that ability.

Thus, l think in addition to all the other options you have highlighted, the Concrete Decking is also a "second-level" protection, when the inevitable finally happens.... though, "Prevention is always better than cure", but we cant be too careful, right?

My Bros/Sis,
I am at the roofing stage for my site and need to decide on what brand/make of Aluminium steps tiles to use.
The roofwork has been designed for 0.55 gauge step tiles so will appreciate some advice on where to get the best materials to use.
I am being sent different quotes for different sizes of the same roof. How does that work? To date I have had 4 measurements of completely different sizes for the same roof. where's the consistency?
Which one do I take as the correct measurement/quote?
Now back to the actual roofing sheet I have had a few names so far. The ones that stand out are Tower Aluminium, Sumo Aluminium and Baltran.
I know Tower is reputable but very over-priced for my pocket so what are the other alternatives to Tower that still have quality (even though not as much as Tower). Is Sumo a good brand? Does anyone have their contact details? I have searched all over Lagos and online but not joy in finding them.

Please help me Fellow NL members

No Sir, Oga AdeEkiti. The weather in Oyinbo land is worse than what we will ever have in Nigeria. We only have rain.. that is all.
Snow is 100% worse that rain... it's nothing but pure salt; and it causes more damage. if we ever get snow in Nigeria, the whole country will be perished because we are not equipped for it both in materials and labor. If building materials serve 10 years in Oyinbo land it should be doubled in Nigeria.
The problem is that we are getting bad and inferior materials in Nigeria, especially those imported from China... (there are some materials that is specially made for Nigeria, requested by our people so they don't have to paid much).

Oga Maverick,
Thanks for your input here.
I guess some people live in fairy worlds where they think everywhere on earth is the same without consideration for the people/culture of the Terrain.
How can you compare a country where you have 24/7 light to one where you only get it for 3 or 4 hours day (if you are lucky)?
A country where they can catch a killer even after 24 years to one where the killer is well known and no one can do a thing.
A country where you go and report a case to the police and have some confidence that justice will be done to a country where you go report a crime and you may end up seeing the man that robbed you last night behind the counter taking your statement.

Yes Nigerian is on this planet but can anyone honestly say that Nigeria is not unique in its way of life?

Yes we have courts,we have lawyers, we police but do these establishments work as they should? Maybe for the rich and maybe for some lucky ones but definitely not for the majority of the country.

I lived in UK for over 15 years and even hard places like Peckham, Brixton, Hackney did not have burglary proof in all the houses.

Now I am back in Nigeria and I visit some of my uncles who have alot of money and security and they have burglary proof all over the place. Is it that they cannot afford to put the best fashioned windows in place? is it that they can't afford other forms of security? Trust me they can afford all the above and yet they still live in cages like the rest of us.

Nigerians hope and pray for a better Nigeria but until then we are where we are and we deal with things with the tools at our disposals and not how people outside think it should be dealt with.

I am owed 9m naira for some plots of land that I bought years ago from so-called developer. I have done everything in my power to get my plots or my money back but to no avail.

I have gone to the police and reported the case. The man has signed all sorts on undertakings but yet to make payment. Even the police adviced me not to take it to court. they said the court can tell him to start paying 10K a month and that will be the end. Am i going to take 10K a month on 9m? how long will that take.

Even the police have told me that when I eventually get my money back they will charge me 10% for their services and I have been told that is a standard for any money the police get back for you.

Now tell me if this is the same judiciary system that we should rely on when people take the piss with our hard-earned money?

Rant over. time to take my dog for a walk..............

mavverick:

EgunMogaji

Without any disrespect or anything along those lines.
Sometimes I get the idea that you may not be orientated with the Nigerian system, and you tend to compare a lot of things between USA / Nigeria. Again, without any prejudice or disrespect, they are 2 difference things, so whilst its good you exhibit ideas from USA, unfortunately I feel that you have to be pragmatic on whether such a system will work in Nigeria. You tend to compare a system where things work most of the time to one where things don't usually work, and when it works, it works differently to the way you know it in USA.

You also need to understand the system, not everyone/everything is like that but all I am saying is that you need to exercise caution and put the Nigerian perspective into some of your ideas.

Just me 2 cents.

Brabus is a real cunning fox no be small.
I know his type. If I remember vaguely he had a similar issue with Brag3 where he tendered some fake documents (architectural drawings) which had fake seals and stamps from people claiming to be certified architects and engineers.

https://www.nairaland.com/1588017/nexthome-builders-2014-2015-new/33

I don't know how it was resolved. maybe Sir Brag3 can fill us in. Sir Brag3 uploaded all the documents and all Brabus could do was dance around as usual and make excuses.

@Maverick, you need to put all the documents here for us to see and shame this guy.

Maybe others misunderstood your comment about being your brother's keeper but I got it and your actions and those of others to shame this criminal will help protect other unsuspecting clients.

This guys has gone way too far.

Sir Brag3 help us please as you seem to have experienced the same thing.

@mavverick,

Are you saying brabus did this work? you mean this shoddy job was done by the same brabus who comes on here and acts like a building Evangelist?
Never ceases to amaze me with this guy's impunity. Always thinking people are against him without showing any kind of remorse.

This is a disgrace to the building profession and I hope the other builders on this site can speak up on this.

This guy should not be allowed to get away with such atrocities by saying that the other clients are still in contact with him for advice.

So what? is that an excuse to keep producing such dangerous constructions for his clients.

You come on here and comment on other posts and act like you are a real professional but you are just a well packaged cowboy.

It's amazing how other people on this site seem to give you props when they know what you are really like.

You are a disgrace to the other Credible builders on this site.

Are you going to compensate Maverick for this shoddy job?

mavverick:

Busy day, I have a lot to come and I will be showing it to you the more you keep opening your mouth to prove a point to me.

I mean who does this out of wickedness, why and how on earth would you mix cement bag with concrete. Something that can be easily pulled off and thus pulling off some of the concrete fabric as well. This was all under the watch of brabus / bosun.

Because I said i would supply my own materials, he has decided to expose them to the elements so that they will rust and thus prove a point to me.

Terrible job everywhere, all under his watch (brabus Bosun Davies)

Same nonsense, never cared to retify it.

Absolute disgrace, why would you bring your brother or plumber or whatever to my site, collect a lot of money from me and still do a shoddy job like this. I really dont like breaking concrete, but what can we do here

Missed out a beam here, I will have to reinforce it somehow now.

Is it not supposed to be straight ??

Who in their right state of mind would rest a pillar on block work And you tell me this is not wickedness or being spiteful ?

Now anyone can say this is all sour grapes, but I am just exposing what bosun/brabus is really like. I mean, would he claim that i am owing him money, not enough materials or what ??
