ttalks, 1. Of course there is only one TRUTH. As i said, we each choose whether to obey it or not. 2. There will always be arguments regarding the understanding of God's word even amongst Christians. This has been the case right from the time of the early Christians and I'm sure you know that. Again it boils down to what you choose to believe. The problem is not with the Word/Truth, it is that we each try to understand it through the eyes of our individual experience(s). 3. I do not accept your 'boldly' and wrongly purporting to tell me what to or not believe. You see, you don't have that right or authority over me for the simple reason that I am not accountable to you. That is the exclusive preserve of the Holy Spirit . It is like an atheist telling you that you have a wrong belief because you believe in God and he/she doesn't. A catholic could also call you deluded if you believe in the second birth and he/she doesn't. A pentecostal could also be right in scoffing at a catholic who builds an altar to Mary. Kapisce? |
Regarding Tithes/Tithing. I believe giving tithes is not so much as an old testament vs new testament issue. It is simply a question of choice and obedience. Let me explain. 1. It is your choice whether to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ or not. Jesus said a man must be born again but there are several people who have made the choice not to believe Him or surrender their lives to Him and they are still alive today and several are very rich too, in the way the world counts riches. 2. It is your choice whether to bring 10% of your income to the church. It is not compulsory that you do it, you do it only if you believe that God has commanded that you do so. To be sure about this, I suggest that you read your bible and pray to God for understanding. You see, each one of us are individually accountable to God for what we do with our lives. Each of us will account to God for our choices, so it is better to act based on your own convictions and faith. 3. I believe that God wants me to bring my tithes to His house. I believe that He made the 100% available to me and i consider it a privilege to bring a fraction of it to him. That is my choice. I am not a pastor but like everyone else, i have access to the bible and my study of it and fellowship with God has convinced ME that I am to obey God in this and every other area. 4. I feel the underlying issue is that our money is so important to us that any discussion regarding our spending it is always going to be agitated. It is true that some people have established churches for the sole reason of getting rich through the members' tithes. Once again, several have succeeded and have become rich as a result. As I said, they too will give account. It is the same way an armed robber or corrupt leader will give account. 5. If you do not believe that God wants you to bring your tithes to Him, then don't do it! your obedience should be based on faith and not fear. The people who give tithes out of fear are not worshipping God with it. It is possible for God to reject an offering that is not from the heart . |
My opinion on this. 1. Etim Esin has not claimed that he was accused by Okocha of stealing a phone. 2. If someone in nigeria loses a phone in the midst of other people-even if it is a 'pemi pada owo nromi' (as they call it), you will search for it thouroughly up to the point of searching pple there, if you can get away with it, which i am assuming the guest whose phone was missing was able to do (probably had his ' boys' in attendance). 3. If Okocha was not there at the material time and did not accuse Esin of stealing, Etim Esin's grievance should have been against the guest who originally ordered him to be searched. In that instance the guest was not acting as okocha's agent and okocha cannot be vicariously held liable for defamation of character. 4. More worryingly are the statements of etim since the incident (i am following the references in above threads) - he sounds like someone seriously bitter, not by the incident by some previous slight he perces himself to have suffered/be suffering from okocha. He seems to have a perpetual inferiority hangup where okocha is concerned. It is true that etim was a skilfull player in those days. He messed things up through his indiscipline but that does not make him a thief. 5. If Etim was not too proud to accept regular handouts from someone that he believed was beneath him in age and skill, and was not bold enough o refuse to be searched when the others were being searched (if they had rough handled him, he would have a good claim for assault), methinks this is about trying to recover pride. About Keyamo filing a matter in court, the guy is only in it for the nuisance value, there's nothing there! |
The reason the woman would take without informing the husband is becos if she asks, the man will say he does not have, cannot spare anything or it belongs to someone else. If you are free with your wife regarding finances, then she wont need to take your money without your knowledge but if you are a stingo, you deserve what you get. |
1. before anyone submits an application for any type of visa, ensure that you have as much as possible of what is reqd by the high commision. Things like, for a student visa, letter from the institution confirming admission, proof of means of payment of tuition fees and sustenance etc. 2. The problem is most instances relate to convincing them that you will come back after your study, that your course cannot be studied in your country at a cheaper rate, that you can pay for the course etc. 3. regarding payment for the course, quite a lot of us present statements of accounts that are not helpful - a statement that has a lump sum of some millions paid in some days to the date of the application will not convince them. also a statement that has sums of money that when converted would come to not much in pounds will not convince them. 4. if an application is refused, the best option , if you are sure of your papers, is to appeal. the appeal process takes time and except in an unusual emergency situation, will ordinarily not be rushed through just because the admission date is close, especially as they know the school can always defer the admission. 5. however if you are not sure of your papers or you are definitely sure they can't stand scrutiny, don't expect much from the appeal. 6. an alternative is to study their reasons for refusal and deal with that before submitting another application. |
The guy is just like so many other Nigerian journalists, long on rumours and short on facts. Since Politicians are easy targets for smear campaigns, its easy to get away with lazy journalism. Don't cover up for criminals and people who abuse their office, but please don't just regurgitate their opposition's press releases without checking your facts. Thats what Elendu has been doing. |
