vastolord4:This should be professionalised and taught in our local business schools like LBS. Why must we always import everything? Why cant we refine this and professionalis it and make it formal with certificates so foreigners can come into Nigeria to learn this |
Seun:Good Mornign Sir, pls take down, scammers run amock here. |
Seun:Good Morning Sir Hello Seun this member @PortHarcourtcit has been insulting igbo members. He coined a nickname called GBAJUE'S and uses his multiple accounts to reference and like comments that call igbo tribe GBAJUE'S. Please peruse his comment history and see for yourself. I remember there was this professor who talked about the government institutionalizing this Igbo apprenticeship program. And the then Vice president Prof Yemi Osibanjo also talked about this. It's unfortunate that tribalism has made the Tinubu government ignore this ,instead it is foreigners who are now appreciating this Mods @seun mynd44 let's leave all the abd news about Nigeria and have some positive news on front page for a change |
African streaming service Showmax is set to launch a Nigerian Original documentary series, Freemen, a captivating exploration of the Igbo Apprenticeship System, known locally as Igba Boi. This groundbreaking seven-part documentary is now streaming, coinciding with the relaunch of the new Showmax app. The Igbo Apprenticeship System has been a cornerstone of the eastern region of Nigeria for generations. The practice involves young individuals placed under the tutelage of experienced traders, artisans, or professionals to learn a trade or skill for a period of time, after which they gain “freedom”, typically including a cash settlement or seed money that will allow them to begin their own trade. In recent times, the business model has gained worldwide traction, and in 2021, Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe’s work on the Igbo Apprenticeship System (IAS) was published in the Harvard Business Review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de_PcjdHyuw?si=w4RQjU7PB_32VWoo In the Freemen trailer, we see businessman Dr Anene Okeke approaching the parents of a young man he intends to take under his tutelage, asking for their consent to take him to the city to learn a trade. The documentary features prominent Igbo businessmen such as Dr Cosmas Maduka aka Coscharis, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Okey Japan, Bartholomew Duru Nwanguma alongside his son Peter Nwanguma, and other notable entrepreneurs. These successful businessmen share their personal stories and reflections on how the Igbo Apprenticeship System shaped their careers and paved the way for their entrepreneurial success. In anticipation of the show’s launch, Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, said, “Freemen is more than just a documentary on the Igbo Apprenticeship System, it is a spotlight on our rich narrative and culture. We are excited at Showmax to be able to tell the vibrant story of a system that has transcended cultural boundaries into other regions of the country and beyond.” Daro Umaigba, the director and co-producer of Freemen, also expressed his excitement about the documentary, stating, ‘‘With Freemen, we open a window into the world of the Igbo Apprenticeship System, offering viewers an intimate look at how great business minds are nurtured and developed. This documentary is not just a showcase of the rich Igbo cultural heritage but also a valuable resource for business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs seeking mentorship insights.’’ The documentary is structured in four distinctive parts, providing an in-depth exploration of the Igbo Apprenticeship System. These segments include the Pick-Up and Negotiations Period, Trial Period, Solidification of Agreement and Work Period, and Settlement Period, each offering a unique perspective on the apprenticeship journey. Beyond its focus on the Igbo community, Freemen reveals how the apprenticeship system has evolved, adapting to different trades and industries such as manufacturing, retail, and services. The system has transcended cultural boundaries, influencing similar apprenticeship systems in other regions of Nigeria and across Africa, including in Ghana, Senegal and Ethiopia. Freemen is co-produced by multiple-award-winning rapper Tobechukwu Ejiofor, aka ILLBLiSS (King of Boys), who also produces the soundtrack for the show. As Showmax continues to redefine African storytelling, Freemen promises to provide viewers with a distinctive narrative and a deeper understanding of the Igbo Apprenticeship System. The documentary promises audiences an engaging and enlightening experience, offering a fresh perspective on the roots of successful businesses and the mentorship traditions that continue to shape them. Freemen is now available to stream exclusively on Showmax, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. https://stories.showmax.com/za/showmax-documentary-freemen-explores-the-igbo-apprenticeship-system |

MADIFF:I agree. Otherwise how else can one explain all thia noise about crimes under Buhari yet.they can't arrest him. |
APC fighting hard to shake and destroy LP🤣🤣🤣🤣 |
seguno2:The government in Nigeria puts itself there ,that alone invalidates your assertion 😁 |
ukaface:Are you done? |
seguno2:I never saw it from this perspective. Ideally you are right ,it's wrong but. The reality is, the government has made the country so unlivable that anyone will do whatever it takes to get out of here. I was talking with a relative who works in Chevron, mind you he is very rich and has been in Chevron for over 15 years as a full staff yet he told me this very morning he is relocating from Nigeria. So if someone that rich is afraid due to insecurity and chooses to japa , what more the rest of us who are middle class or what more of the poor. The blame still rests with the government |
Well done bro. Only a good man appreciates his wife and family. It's crucial to make that woman smile 😁 |
Off course this is true . I know a lady who used someone to pass her license exam. Omo the thing is expensive but that's the only way a lot of them are able.to.get their license. No be new thing 😎 |
Beautifulday:It jusrt means that its padded and hidden under a different name which makes this crime even worser than we thought . The truth is irrespective of politics leanings we can all agree that the subsidt is thw worst thing to happen to Nigeria , so why resume the payment an hide it under a name? |
That's good. But we all know someone will collect like $100k bribe and everything will end . They won't pay a dime |
The website is bogus and looked like it was built by a 8 year old yahoo boy. This man is probably on the FBI watchlist |
From Google Is the Afriq arbitrage system legit? Afriq Arbitrage System is largely fraudulent and operates on an unsustainable business model that would eventually lead to irrecoverable losses for investors.10 Jul 2023 A lot of these so called philanthropists are ritualists and criminals . I knew it was fake news from the beginning. APC trying to distract the masses from Tinubu bad governance |
Johnjustice:I am telling you. What sort of madness is this !!! Nigeria should be divided!!! How can you have two laws two constitution in one nation?!!! This country is failed and the useless Tinubu won't do anything because his hands are not clean so he dare no act against these people |
Seun:During a war time ?!!!! Seun seriously? This is a war time with lots of casualties on both sides . If it were in Palestine the same thing would have happened to an Israel child who decided to act so foolishly. Act stupid and win stupid prizes that's how it works. |
PoliteActivist:This is a very inane childish way of looking at it. In that case why isn't everyone rushing to Venezuela? If you don't understand something don't comment |
LeoDeKing:You would know after we all know what you do for a living. See just know that you are damaging the image of Nigeria .. every foreigner who falls victim you are destroying Nigerians chances of being treated fairly abroad. Say no to crime. |
LeoDeKing:Says omenka the net hustler...🤣🤣😆😆 Tell us what you do for a living 😀 |
