Thumbs up on the great work going on here. Two years back, I was seeking help concerning undergraduate admission into U.S schools and I was advised by Walspring and Lagosismyhome at the time(i.e @ part 10 of this thread). I was 16 then and I was seeking full-time ride scholarships as my parents aren't financially buoyant. I was told I had to score high on the SAT cos my high school GPA isn't so impressive(3.38) while my waec GPA is 3.33, unfortunately I performed poorly(1150/1600). I went on to apply in an attempt to see what could happen, I got admitted into some colleges (Elmira college, University of New Hampshire,Unity college,University of Southern Mississippi, St John's College- can't remember the rest),with insufficient scholarships. The highest fund I got was from Elmira College, a $108,000 presidential scholarship but the school was too expensive as I still had $27000+ to pay per year and I didn't have a dime. I got other minor scholarships from other schools but they were all less than $20000.
I tried again last year since I learnt that SAT validity was 5 years but I kinda knew it was a futile attempt. I desire to retake the SAT but there are no funds.
I am now 18 and in a Nigerian University(200L currently studying an Engineering course) and I still have desire to go through the process once more.
Will it be better to count my losses and try again when I graduate(i.e MSC) or do I keep hoping a break-through would come somewhere and I'll be able to retake the SAT?
Thanks for your time
CC: Bigfrancis21, walspring, lagosismyhome and other well meaning nairalanders...
If I were you I'd take the SAT again. You still have about 3 years to spend in the University, who knows how difficult it'll be to get a student visa 3 years from now. If you've read visa transcripts from 2012 till now you'd have noticed the how easy it was to get a U. S student visa in 2012 compared to now. I can assure you it'll be far more difficult 3 years from now.
The most important thing is not losing focus on your ongoing studies here. I know someone that was in a similar situation that skipped a semester because he was so sure he was going to travel, he ended up having an extra year.

they don't know all these and that's why they are uneducated graduates. Wonder what they will benefit from climbing themselves just to see Davido. That's why our graduates are not respected because they don't respect themselves either.
What you're saying is pointless. Harvard University graduates would do worse that this if they see drake, Beyonce and Co. It's the same everwhere around the world.

Because he's a celebrity and not a regular person. He can only register in a place he's assured his safety will be guaranteed. If anything happens to him, it's people like you that will call for the scrapping of NYSC.

You should know that he hadn't be singing for a long time now
The way people reason like chicken ehhn. Who said wizkid killed the song than Duncan. The point is that wizkid brought Duncan mighty back to limelight. Go and check Duncan's instagram, he's always appreciating wizkid for the collaboration. Duncan might have been churning out good music before now but very few's listening nationwide. He featured wizkid and he's suddenly been talked about all over Africa. It doesn't need a genius to figure out this is because of wizkid.

You know, the thing is about insecure people is...

They try to impose their insecurities on other people.

Why exactly are you so interested in whether people here have a boyfriend or not, or a girlfriend or not? Honestly, why should that be the first thing that comes to somebody's mind ON A PUBLIC FORUM?
These are people you have never and will probably never meet in your life. Is it because YOU for some reasons whatsoever can't walk up to a girl and ask her out? Or because you have reduced yourself to nothing but a sexual object and therefore others should follow?!
You take this Lucas guy too serious. He was obviously joking around with the lady. Do you really think he'd take a flight to Germany to meet up with her if she said she was single and needed a man..... common!!!!

You are currently in one Nigerian university as we speak right.. So what will happen if you finally got the visa? You will abandon your school here in Naija. Isn't that waste of time and money? Why not take it one step at a time.. finish your university program here and apply for masters which will make things more easier for you. America is not running, it's always there anytime you finish your program here in naija. My little advice is try and complete your program here before jopping to America. You can choose not to take my advice but i really wish you all the best and hope this help.
What of if the major he's going for in the states is different from the one he's doing right now?? Like someone studying law that really wants to study something like Accounting or Economics in the states. Would you advice him to wait to complete his degree??

1) Within 90 days before the start day on your i20, for example if the start date on your i20 is August 30, you can go to the embassy anytime between June 1 and August 25.
2) No its not, that is a red flag. What matters is good inflow and outflow of cash and not a huge lump sum.
3) Choose one and decline the others except you have plans of transferring to any other schools
I believe if your resumption date is on the 25th of August, you can have your interview anytime from early May. I believe the rule is 120 days before resumption date and not 90 days.

You're not far from the truth. He came in to play a romance script but the person that played into his hands turned out to be a very difficult person who doesn't have an iota of pretense. All that incessant begging was to make him look like a gentleman who really likes a lady. Suddenly he flips the script because of a sexual assaults allegation which is understandable. What isn't understandable is why he can't keep her name out his mouth. He has promised not to nominate her but goes around instigating others to so (reminds me of Nkenna of BBA Revolution always manipulating other housemates to nominate her country person). Cee-C has remained the same person for the most of the show but how Tobi changed from a mild mannered lover boy to a loose tongued, pretty vindictive person is still a mystery.
Sebi you and Tobi sat down together to plan his script for the house na. The way some people come here to analyse these housemates lives ehhn. I still don't understand what these Tobi haters gain from spewing rubbish about him on this thread. All the nonsense some of you post about Tobi gets me really angry but I just read and overlook. Do you think any guy can withstand all the things Cee- c put Tobi through?? I wanted to write a long epistle about this whole issue but I guess it'd be a waste of time. Anyone that writes that there's something good about Cee-c and rubbishes Tobi the way you do is not worth arguing with.

She thinks Alex, Anto, Nina or Miracle too.

She is loyal. She likes Rico and Tobi.

Rico's nomination surprised her because she doesn't see how someone can enter the diary room, and find it easy to nominate Rico. But she understands it's no more about fav HM, but strategy.

I will vote for her this week grin grin
This DS made me hate her less sha. She says she's sure that Tobi nominated her, so I wonder why she didn't nominate him as well. She obviously has a thing for him.

Please Team Tobi, let's abstain from voting this week and the next(If Tobi's not up). If you have 1000 naira this week that you can use for voting, just save if till the final. Let's go all out for Tobi at the final.
If you decide you must vote, then you guys can vote for Alex or Nina. Nina because she's the key to Tobi winning this competition.

The guy just like so many people on here do not watch the show. They only follow online, cuz anyone that really follows the show would know that anyone that goes against miracle or Tobi is a gooner.
Team tobi fanbase is bigger than any other team in that house except miracle's. If you doubt, make your research on instagram and twitter. If you have a favorite, just pray he/she doesn't come against Toracle.
Tobi has been even helping his fans as they've been saving airtime they'd have used to save him if he was up for eviction.

So mention one Filipino university in the top 1000 globally? Either the ARWU, QS or THE Times Education rankings.

I didn't argue it's not cheap. But I'd rather add up more money and go to Japan or even South Korea where the best schools in Asia are located than Philippines. Am I against anyone's plan to study in Philippines? No. But I won't advise anyone who desires a qualitative education at a top class institution and at affordable prices to head to Philippines.
I understand your point but there's a lot of points to consider when planning to study in a foreign country. I'll rather choose Philippines over those countries. Philippines is much cheaper and English is widely spoken in the Philippines. I wouldn't even dream of studying in Japan or Korea, as both Japanese and Korean are in the top 10 most difficult languages in world.
If you want to get a quality education in those countries, you need to learn their languages first. If you study in English in those countries, you'll be getting a substandard education.

You know nothing bro.
I wonder why people just decide to talk out of ignorance.
I've never been to the Philippines and I don't plan to visit anytime soon but what I do know is that there are a lot of Americans that go to Philippines to study medicine and the number keeps growing every year.
A lot of qualified doctors and nurses in the u.s studied in Philippines because of the lower cost of studies.

It is very common among Nigerian imported wives once they get their PR/Citizenship. One man I know said some men keep these aggressive women in check by stalling their PR/Citizenship. That way, the women know that if they mess up, they are going back to Nigeria. I think this is wicked though!

Best thing is to patiently find your soul mate and not let despair drive you into the hands of slay queens and mamas who would milk you dry, dump you and take over all your possessions after a few years, then continue slaying with toyboys!

These stories that touch abound in this abroad kiss

Imagine saying there are poorer people in UK than Nigerian.
A civilized and a first world country with endless opportunity. Damn
Nigerians that are always very happy to buy fairly used items from Uk and US have suddenly turn richer.
I reside in Nigeria and there is no basis for comparism.

A Nigerian graduate who secure a 50k naira job per month will go to church for thanksgiving has suddenly turn richer.
A Nigerian will save for months and years just to buy a fairly used car and will celebrate as if it's a big achievement.

They make life too difficult and impossible for a hard working Nigerian child and one faceless will tell me Nigerians are having it good. Imagine lies upon lies
Seriously the thing is annoying. It's just like we aren't in the Nigeria together or haven't lived there sometime. If he was saying this next to me, I swear I'd have given him a benefitting slap.

How do you think people are led to places like Lybia in slavery, you are a very wicked person for trying to propagate this attitude

Ask yourself if we are so poor how we can constantly be online the way we are. For me I'm just doing my own part in my own way, how does this affect you? If one is blessed and hides his or her blessing of what good is that. Our message is simply "You can also make it in Nigeria" even with little or no connection, it's true.

If you don't like this message GTHOOH

Because there's no cause to make. And how's saying silly statements such as there are more poor people in the u.k than in Nigeria fighting for Nigeria's cause or most Americans are on the brink of suicide?

I know so many people close to me( relatives and friends) that risked everything to leave this country. I know a lawyer(a relative) that was living a life of penury here in Nigeria after about 7 years after being called to bar. He graduated from OAU with 2nd class upper.
He somehow got an opportunity to relocate to Canada and he's been there for about 3 years now. He came to visit Nigeria Early this year and if you seriously see this guy you'll thank God for his life. Most of his mates were just trying to clinch with the guy and one even tried to defraud him. I have so many examples like this, uncles, family friends, former neighbour e.t.c. They're all living a good life and are taking care of their extended family back home. I don't know anyone personally that travelled and came back as a failure. So you can imagine how angry I am whenever I see some of these guys make their stupid and ignorant statements.
If you're in the u.s or Europe and you are both hardworking and know what you're doing, you'll definitely make it. With Nigeria, it's 50-50.

America and UK have more poorer people but the black brain can easily be brainwashed and you are one of such. A careful research will make you realize you have been under an intense brainwashing circle since birth. Nigeria have no single best mind abroad, no Nigeria who reside abroad have been rated in anything globally, they are all wage slaves
Whenever I see your posts, I always feel pity for you. Something must have gone wrong somewhere in the course of your life, I can't really point my finger on it. But I'm pretty sure you fall under one of these categories-
1) You applied for a u.s visa or Canadian visa and you misrepresented documents thereby leading to a ban, or you don't just have the means or opportunity to leave this country. ( most people don't but you don't see them making dumb statements.)
2) You travelled out of the country at a point and got deported.
3) You are someone just looking for attention or popularity. You noticed how popular Pidgin2 is and you decided to follow her path.
The way you and pidgin2 are always on Nairaland, making disparaging comments about the u.s and the u.k shows how jobless you folks are. You can say you're a manager of this or that but it'll be so evident that you're lying. Someone serious with his/her life wouldn't make it his life duty to say the kind of silly things you guys say.
How would an educated person with a certain degree of intelligence say that there are more people suffering in u.k than in Nigeria. Do you see the kind of suffering that exists in Nigeria and other African countries??
The annoying thing is that you guys will defend your silly statements by listing the amount Americans pay in Taxes, or how Aba boys make millions every day. This kind of stupidity annoys me.
