Travel / Re: Is This Extortion By The Nigeria Post Office? by BENTOSYN: 6:33pm On Oct 04, 2019
J111333:
Here is the story. I sent two laptops to a cousin in UniPort through the United States Post Office Priority package and paid about $120 for postage.

Upon arrival of the package, the Nigeria Post Office called her to come pick up the package with N25k and I was like is this a joke or what?
Is this how it is done or is this extortion and what can be done about it?

Custom duties...they now have custom posts at almost every post office in Nigeria.

Gbe body for Jesus. Nothing wrong with that na.

The problem remains that we are too religious with plenty of sin. Arrest me when I am happily dancing and praising my God with zanku dance.
Worshiping God is a personal commune.

2 Corinthians 6:14 in the King James Version: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

There is hope to those of us planning to use form A to fund their block account. Over the past few days I have been looking for cheap ways to fund my block account. I have been to several banks, but they keep saying form A is for school fees and medical bills. today I got this from one of the bank which I believe will beneficial to everyone in this forum, I told them I wanted to fund my block account which is for my upkeep and I was given the form to fill and submit the requirements. I was asked to come back to get the cbn rate for form A and the possibility of funding up-to 8829euros for upkeep.. I will update you all on that soon

Which bank please?

it’s 2/1 extension, not Kubwa extension..

My crib is just behind Faith foundation along that road if you know

If your crib is behind faith foundation then you must know those 2 estates (upstairs)that face each other after the the bridge in front of faith foundation...they are called Hexalix Estates...1 bedroom is 500k plus 60k service charge making 560...its less than a km from you...you may wish to ask there tomorrow

Hmm!
Where is Kubwa extension again...I stay in kubwa
2 bedroom flat is 500k
Self con...is 150k

Where did you get your figure guy...

Naaah...find out where they call FO1 In Kubwa, I believe that’s what he meant by Kubwa Extension...it’s actually FCDA Extension...cheapest 1 bedroom flat is 500k without service charge and commission ....you may be lucky to get 400k but after factoring in service charge et.al you’d land somewhere around 520

Yeah you can. You can even block now and start now only thing is that if you get the scholarship, you won’t need to touch your BA. Then you can be sending the money back to your parents or whoever that gave you, monthly without stress.

Scholarship will be in Australia...that’s the challenge.

That’s nice men.
Only problem is by that time you can be seeing interview dates available only in September

I guess my best bet is to start looking out for appointment date in June..

What do you mean by its impossible to get blocked fund back?

In what circumstances please?

I meant after blocking funds and visa approved...if you wish to reconsider your going to Germany or you got a better option...it would be difficult to have your blocked funds released

I guess it’s true , cause @pizzule assured me he did his there. He even said they were very nice.why don’t you want to do the interview now? I feel you should apply for a date tho, they can give you 2 months ahead or so

Hmmnnn, I’m awaiting the outcome of a scholarship consideration by end of July or August...That’s why I’m a lil reluctant about applying for appointment as that would sooner or later require blocking of account...I hear it’s hard or near impossible to get blocked funds back...

That said, is it possible to apply for a date around end of july?

Abuja

make sure you are particular about Abuja. Don’t forget to state it. Just follow the template. Goodluck
Edit: Neighboring northern states can use Abuja embassy as well. It’s a new development

But it states on the website that all student visa requests are to be routed through Lagos consulate except for students on scholarship...if you are not on a scholarship, my understanding is that you’d have your visa interview in Lagos...

I applied at Aachen on the 21st of February and a friend also applied on the 23rd of February for the same course (Applied geosciences), but in our applications my own general entry requirements has not been ticked but his own has been ticked, and he applied after me.
Please house help me am so dumbfounded

In your portal, under “submission of application “, then “status” ...is “received electronically” ticked? If so is “The application documents have been checked and they are complete“ ticked? If your application has been received and checked for completeness and the “formal requirements” part isn’t ticked then you probably have not met the formal entry requirements...by the way did you send in “course description”? Proof of English and your CGPA are other likely reasons, although CGPA falls under “academic requirements” which will be checked by the admission board.

In all, you ve gotta keep your head up...in my experience, that’s the best approach in this kinda situation...it’s also important that you increase your chances by applying to other schools..cheers

I heard Abuja own is not as congested as Lagos own. I don't know much about it though, I have not reached that stage yet

When I went for certification of documents in Abuja consulate...I was told all student visa bookings are to be routed through Lagos except you are a scholarship recipient or you are on government sposored short course with your note verbale in hand

Your GP is exactly 2.845 on German scale while that of your friend is exactly 2.95.

1 - 1.5 = Very Good
1.6 - 2.5 = Good
2.6 - 3.5 = Satisfactory
3.6 - 4.0 = deficient
4.1 - above = Insufficient

I also applied for geoscience too and I made a silly mistake which I am still panicking about. I uploaded my transcript as course description and they marked it as NOT OK, I emailed them and they told me that they will check my credentials without course description and I can only wait for admission decision because the deadline for submission of document has passed.
I pray my silly mistake don't cost me that admission.

You shouldn’t panic about it...I got admission last summer in the school without uploading course description...I uploaded my transcript and it was marked “not ok” so I left it like that...and the admission came.

Good !!

what's your cpga?

it's possible to give him admission with his cpga?

I think he wanna know from the house !!

Your CGPA is around 2.8 in German scale...that’s a lil bit lower than the stated requirement of 2.5 ...however it’s not impossible for you to get admission on the grounds of your course description...My CGPA is 4.18 that’s around 1.6 on the German scale.

Hopefully they’d start rolling out their admission s by this month (probably towards the end)...the last time they responded to me in about 90days..applied in August and got admission in November.

I don't understand what University of Munster mean by Certified copy of passport.

It's an online application, how should I upload certificate copy of my passport.
And moreover, passport is in a booklet form. I really don't understand them at all

Print out a copy of your passport data page and certify that with a notary public then scan the certificate page and upload.

check here

Depends on your intended course of study...in MSC Geology, they recommend GRE but it’s not a mandatory requirement....For Msc Geophysics in the same LMU, GRE is not required at all...

Just so we know, there are 2schools on darmstadt;
TU Darmstadt. This one is technical University and
Hochschule Darmstadt this one is University of Applied Sciences
I think we are all beginning to confuse our selves about them because I know tu darmstadt has given out most of their admissions while someone like me is still waiting for hochschule darmstadt.
So let's be differenciating them please. I almost got confused about the posts we are making.

Do you mean summer or winter? Cos I know Tu Darmstadt is still processing admissions for winter...I know cos I ve exchanged mails with the admissions panel for about 4 times over the last 4 weeks...

Typical of Nairaland, misleading thread topics.
What I heard on the news this morning was that tripartite committee will PRESENT THE 2 FIGURES TO THE PRESIDENT.
Nothing has been approved yet.

Nairaland is becoming a joke.

That was the position after the meeting yesterday afternoon...however the meeting reconvened at 10pm yesternight where 1 figure, which has not been mentioned, was agreed upon to be presented to the president and announced at 4:15 pm today

30-18=12
Increament = 12/18 * 100 = 66.67%

For 118k, 118*66.67/100 = 78.67
New salary 118+78.67 = 196.67k

It’s not that simple Sir...the “minimum wage” that is being talked about is the basic salary I.e minus allowances...with the increament, basic salary increases by 66.67% as you have shown, the effect will only be felt on the allowances that are calculated as functions of your basic salary I.e housing allowance maybe 40% of basic salary (in this case that allowance goes up) and of course eventually add to your take home...

degree holders get more than 70 k. some get 90k and even more in some places like FRSC where they get 120.. some will now get 140 to 150 k now

Federal Government Employees in the core ministeries only get 56-59k for Bsc that’s GL08 ...some Agencies get more cos of allowances...places like Petroleum Equalization Fund, PTDF, AMCON, DPR etc get 250-300 for entry level...places like FIRS and NNPC get 180...it’s the associated allowances that matter...
