Start Plantain Plantation Today and Harvest Cash All Year Round Another secret cash machine that many people tend to ignore is plantain plantation, Plantain is very easy to cultivate and maintain unlike other cash crops. And it’s a low capital requirement farming business. Almost every Nigerian soil is good for the plant as experience has shown contrary to what scientist will tell you. Therefore, if you have any land with loamy soil, you are good to go. Plantains are a staple food in the tropical regions of the world, the tenth most important staple that feeds the world. Plantains are treated in much the same way as potatoes and with a similar neutral flavor and texture when the unripe fruit is cooked by steaming, boiling or frying. Plantains fruit all year round, which makes the crop more reliable all-season staple food, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria with inadequate food storage, preservation and transportation technologies. In Africa, plantains and bananas provide more than 25 percent of the carbohydrate requirements for over 70 million people. plantains, thrive in tropical regions. Warm temperatures, bright sun and adequate moisture create optimum growing environments. Tropical soils, however, are not always suitable for plantain production.

I really sympathize with you bro....I understand the point when people around you start seeing you as a failure but that only happens when they are not literate en of to understand the society which we have been unlucky to find ourselves.
You should also note that help comes from no man....I'd bet you will be assisted more by non-humans than human beings.
My advice is, keep applying and keep praying....its gonna come very soon. Actually the job market recently has been very low, even some of us with good experiences that gets offers severally have not got any in a while, and its not just in Nigeria..its world wide. The oil price drop is a big factor in this. Very soon, opportunities will come and you must be ready and prepared to take it. And also, it is a mistake for people to think that they must work in O&G to be rich. Do not restrict your applications, it will assist in getting the experience you will need to merge up with your education/certification and help. Also do not forget, cry unto God....Help comes ONLY from Him.

NOTE: Do not be dismayed by comments or feeling of those around you, same people will celebrate you in no time.

Regards

Thank you very much for this info...Could you please assist with the contact for daily independent as I could no get it online. Thanks

lamdec:
After marriage, you do not need to swear an affidavit, I repeat you do not need to swear an affidavit once you have your marriage certificate from the registry.. even if you had a church marriage, some churches issues the certificate from the registry and some will require that you do a registry wedding first.
so all you need is a copy of your marriage certificate to show as a proof of your marriage and take it to one of the dailies to publish your change of name.
I was very busy so I used daily independent, I got their contact for change of name through Google and I scanned my certificate to them and paid the amount required for change of name and it was done.
you will need to buy the paper on the day it will be published and make enough copies for formal use.

Boss, sorry, the question was initially directed at iCool. I just need your input as well. I have quoted it here. Thanks
Hallos bro,
Firstly you have a very good first degree and then doing an excellent course for Msc, you could also proceed for your automation course as it gives you more insight into process controls and also adds to your bag which definitely will be an open door for a better job for you. The prospects of process automation/control cannot be over-emphasized as it is largely sourced for in several industries such as O&G, Automobiles, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and other process industries like beverages and cementing.
From what you have done so far, and still planning...you do not need to waste your time on nebosh now, except if you plan to divert into safety anyway or just want an added certificate. But I advice you put more effort to get the course on process automation/control and also you should ask for some time on internship.

My life is that am a HND holder in electrical/electronics engineering. When work was not coming,i started GSM repair. This work have taken over my life till i have to stop it on August this year i dont see myself doing this repair from 40yrs upward.I need career plan that can carry me toward the aging years.I just did ccna this year.am also thinking of changing to oil/gas by travelling to Quatar or angola for a course and thereafter looking for a work. Please i need your input greatly.help give me suggestions.thanks
Going to Qatar might be helpful for you....but you should rule out Angola as their labour law is so much sensible and only helpful to their citizens (I hope you understand that) Then you also need to be sure of the exact job you want to get, as you said you just did CCNA I would presume you will want to go into I.T and that is a department that do not recruit often. Maybe you should do more research and do NOT quit your business yet.

Nice thread..please I have a BSC in microbiology and I've always been passionate about working offshore..I'm expecting about a million naira around d 1st quarter of next year and I'm thinking of running some O & G programs with it.i don't know, will a welding certification or any other program from PTI be enough? ....i also plan to work with any of d O&G coys for free after d program just to get d necessary experience even if it's for 6 months ...sir,can a cert from PTI and a NEBOSH certification guarantee me a job offshore/onshore seeing as I'm coming from a non-engineering/bioscience background ?..Thanks for your kind reply
Okay, let me be very plain to you here...No certification from PTI nor Nebosh will get you a job offshores, but they will only assist as an advantage for your profile if pre-selected at all. Normally these things should do, but sadly we do not run anything ideal anymore in this part of the world. You might be lucky to get a lab job offshores anyway if you are able to get yourself some contracting companies in that regard.
And then, people need to re-consider the passion of being offshores...it is NOT as we think anymore as times have changed and all the goodies of the time gone with it. Lots of people offshores presently even desire to return onshore, but then it is a good place to learn technically especially when working on one of the latest platforms.
So to conclude, you can get those certifications anyway, but they will not get you a job. Hope you mind my plenty story *smiles*

Yes,,you can enlighten us more on its significant sir, especially the tropical bosiet without the use of ebs.
Okay, BOSIET basically stands for Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Escape Training.
Its extremely significant in the O&G industry especially in Offshore sector. Again it is accepted worldwide and not limited in anyway at all. EBS is a part of the training depending on the scheduled tasks. Normally companies send their staffs for the training but some other companies prefer hiring personnel who already have it handy and this leaves applicants with no option than going for the training individually. In this case, lots of people go for the HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) as it is more affordable compared to the BOSIET.

Its quite sad that the after politics, O&G sector follow suite in corruption...No need to divert from your food engineering, you could still get on as far as its part of engineering. Also you can take up other Engineering subs as your masters. I have colleagues who did computer science but works with me as an Instrument Engineer and also some who did other courses very different from engineering....buh that, It is what it is.

Please I need advice, I just got an offer to work offshore, was told to do offshore medical test. Where can I do the test? Like what the price and what are the requirements? Thanks
You need to ask questions properly, did they invite you to come and take the test? (as real companies will do) or they want you to go get the test result elsewhere...anyway ask them for the acceptable medical houses as they might reject some clinics...the test is just about sight, sound, weight+height, x-rays, stool and urine test..etc....its basically to confirm your fitness to work offshores. The price depends on the clinic.

Hello Fellow NL,
I am a graduate of Geology with 2 years experience is Geotechnics/Engineering Geology, looking for opportunities offshore/onshore.
Well, coming offshore is not that easy as several companies will not be willing to pay for your survival training cert which is a compulsory requirement for coming offshore (BOSIET) also its difficult to hire a non-experienced personnel for offshore duties...my advice is to try and get an onshore job first and build from there...cheers

Request for Instrumentation Materials

Instrumentation is the branch of Engineering which deals with the measurement, monitoring, display etc. of the various energy exchanges which take place during process operations. Simply put it, Instrumentation is the Study of Instrument.

An instrument is a device which is used to measure, monitor, control...process variable. And these process Variable are

1. Flow
2. Temperature
3. Level
4. Pressure
5. pH
6. CO2 etc

If you're aspiring to be an Instrument Engineer, you'd need good and quality training. There are many Quality training Institute across Nigeria. And their prices differs...typically, the price for training would be in the range of N60,000 - N450,000. Many times, the higher the fee, the better the total package.

Instrumentation knowledge and Skill is very marketable. You can easily slide into other great career paths like Automation, PLC programming etc. And it is very much a field work.

Now, when I speak with some students or recently job seeking graduates, their usual complain is that these trainings are too expensive. I always tell them that it is because the prospect is good and besides, anything of value isn't always cheap. An Engineer who just recently graduated with need quality skills to be of value to any organization and at the basic level of graduating, many Engineers lack quality skills.

You can choose to Tutor yourself or find a quality training institute that you can learn new skills to make you marketable. Companies will not employ you because you're a graduate; but they will employ you because you can help them solve their problems.

If you cannot afford at this time to attend a training institute on Instrumentation, you can contact me for Quality training Materials on

1. Instrumentation
2. Calibration
3. Automation
4. Programming of PLC. Etc

These materials are from some of the best training schools, both local and abroad.

I would send to you the total Package via Courier. If you are a diligent person with a sense of purpose towards developing skills that are well sought after in the Energy, Oil and Gas, as well as the Manufacturing Sector, you'd become an Asset in no time.

The books and Videos I am going to send you will be a great source of knowledge and skill development if you are resourceful and willing to read and read and read and practice.

Not to make this post too long, you can contact me via

Newfrontiers09@gmail.com

or

0703 221 4269 for further questions.
In as much as you've done well in stating the tiny basics of Instrumentation...you should also do well to explain to peeps that being an Instrumentation Pro is not just about Training materials and certificates....hands-on is paramount.
Thanks

Pls how can one get in as an instrument engineer??
Firstly, you need to get the basics....several companies are no longer interested in training pple except those still in collaboration with NNPC such as MPN. Instrumentation is a very weird career, thats the first thing you must knw, try get in to a basic training first then you can get yourself a job in a manufacturing/process company then prolly progress into O&G.

Feel free to ask more question...or discuss @beryour
