Puppy number 2 arrived at 10.16am. We still got some more to go I believe. Puppy number 1 had two milk sessions before contractions started for number 2. Number 2 will join number 1 in the cozy puppy crate once it's had a session or two of milk. I'm told this first milk from the dam is very important cos of rich nutrients and anti bodies to help the pups in their early stages of development and avoid infection. It's gonna be a long day indeed. Meanwhile, my son's birthday party starts at 3pm....Dancing castle crew inflating and testing. They say when it rains... it pours. I laugh.

With number 1

Like on cue.... the first pup... male arrived at about 4.52am this morning. Looks like its gonna be a very long day. It's also my son's birthday today. His friends will like to see the pups when they come over later. It's gonna be a long day. phee

I think we have +/- 7 days before liter arrives. It just nibbles at its food now. It's appetite is low... really low. It's liter pen is ready and it spends the nights there while it roams free during the day... even though it looks for a corner or spot to just lie down or sleep. Today it just took a few bites from it favorite snack and went off to lie down. That's not normal so I guess we are almost there.

Rudeness seems to be first and second nature to some peeps. Ain't got that time cos.... I move. �

You're fine bro. You're embracing best practices. Regular vet visits is needed d helpful. Also best to have one close by, you never can tell which litter would need to undergo CS.

Thank you much. I travel a bit on the job and my security guard is left to tend to the dam so I don't mind a visit to the vet who has known it from when it was a puppy to make sure everything is OK.

Well Im not sure there's any harm. Besides this is the first time Im seeing through a gestation and liter. Other times it's either I wasn't around for a reason or two. Maybe puppy love. Skepticism in abundance may not hurt.

The dam standing.

It looks like we have about 14+/- days left before the liter arrives. The dam is getting ready, staying more on its own and I believe it's on the right course. It's feeding well surprisingly but small portions a couple of times a day. It loves cuddles more and would just want to sit by and have you stroke it's head and chest. Went for another Vet visit today and he says everything is fine. He stuck the thermometer in her and nods that reading is in line.

It is now day 44 from first cross. Its tummy is distended slightly and it's appetite just dropped a notch. So she goes for a check up at the Vets. He says everything is OK after a physical exam, temperature check etc. Now he shows me this feed. It's not cheap. Oh well. I buy it. Will I call that puppy love

On feeding I now do smaller portions but more feeding times per day. Currently 3 times a day and light walk in the evening to keep her trim. All is google advice oooo She seems not to be interested in kibbles any longer so I've been doing a groundnut, soya bean, millet, blended dry fish (mangala, which cost a fortune or shawa which is cheaper but not common in these parts) and crayfish mix. Then one bony lamb or chicken at least once a day. Also a capsule of omega 3 fish oil is emptied into her mouth daily.

I'd like comments on what I've done so far and any advice on feeding.

Two successful ties were achieved within 4 days. They also occurred on days 10 and 13 after the female came on heat. The mating was a bit tough as no tie was gotten initially and even after first tie. Less than two weeks the tits of the female became more prominent Turning pink. On week 3+ the mammary glands also looked more pronounced and she slept more and preferred quite moments some times. Would climb unto a couch and just gaze. It's five weeks, tummy is bulgy. I attempted to know number of puppies at week 3 through a manual method I googled and counted about 5 pebbles in the abdomen while she stood. An untrained Vet I am
