However you may be right after all as my discussions during the day while the birth was taking place came up with a few reasons for the long time. There was a birthday party going on within 80 meters of the liter pen. I also did notice the dam was stressed by the sound of strange voices within its territory and was always looking out to see what was going on and also protective of its pups. If I remember the sac for pup number 7 was almost out on contraction and as I heard voices of kids coming to the pen area I hurriedly went to shoo them away. When I came back the dam was up barking and sac retrieved. The stress of the environment got to her and she took her time. You didn't expect that number. I didn't as well. You're good Bro. She has been picking up on the eating. Intermittently but steady. She is just too frisky about making sure the pups are OK. Then when they have a milk session she tries to get some sleep before they wake up again in about two hours.

honestly bro, ur work has started. a full time monitoring is required to achieve a healthy pups. in this case of 10pups, some will be deprived of breast milk considering the fact a full grown GSD has just 8tits,its left for u to monitor them closely nd administer already made milk like sma to the unfortunate ones. congrats ones again

Again let me note the Sire from Dogspan Kennel in Abuja. It's a slant back with a gentle slope. Agile, with a deep bark, beautiful black and tan colour. Intelligent, obedient and it's well trained. You'd love to walk this dog. My dam didn't really get along with him and they bickered at each other much but with two ties we have these 10 pups. They were a total of 11 but we lost number 3 which was still born.

All 10 pups made it through the night. The dam with our support coped. We now try to achieve a milking session.

As at last count before I sleep... 2 males and 8 females.

Got to sleep. I got two person doing 30 mins shifts till 1am when they should have last milking sessions till early morning. We continue. pheeeeeeeeew. Fagged out.

So I just got back home. Wait for it....this dam dropped another while I was out... making it 11 puppies since very early morning. Damnnnnnnn

Meeeeeeen it's been a long long day... I'm out to have a drink.... 2 persons are tending to them. Hoping I don't get back home to more. I am pleasantly surprised though.

You see I said I might also need some glucose water. Puppy number 10 in total just dropped. OK somebody tell this dam to stop.... its 14 hours of dropping pups. Surely this has got to be the last one.

The glucose water is it for me, the pups or the dam.... smiling. Cos seriously I've been up since the first pup over 12 hours ago... managing a liter and a birthday party. All in one.

So placenta had not dropped. Puppy number 9 in all just did.... wooooooooooow

You can say that again. like I say I was like thinking five pups... I actually on my first calculations expected the pups this week not exactly today. Seems a double celebration if you ask me.

On why I refer to the dam as it 'it' there's really nothing to it. I think I do intermittently as she and it. Maybe gender neutralism is getting to me. I laugh.

Pup number two delayed, which was y 3 ND 4 came quick, Pup number 3 was probably already on its way while 2 delayed, check on 3 ND 4 very well, most times after such delay, d next pup might end up being still born

Oh no. Number 3 is still born. It's tongue was hanging out by the time the sac was eaten off. Oh well.

Have never had a bitch whelp for more than 4 hours.. The time your pups are arriving are too far apart, I'm not sure it's a large litter

In my personal check at 3 weeks gestation I felt five pebbles. let's see how it goes.

I was getting worried myself too as my readings suggested that. 3 and 4 came between 3 minutes of each other just now. Wow.
