http://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/12-websites-that-will-make-you-smarter.html?cid=readmore We all know that the internet is full of ways to waste time. From adorable animal pictures, to silly gifs and yet another scroll through social media, our online lives can sometimes feel like one useless (if stress relieving) time suck. But there's no need to spend the majority of your time on the internet numbing your brain rather than feeding it. If you'd like to learn basically anything, there's a website that can help you do it simply -- and probably for free. Not sure where to get started? Kristyna Zapletalova, founder and CEO of startup Maqtoob, can help. On Medium recently she rounded up an impressive 37 websites that let you learn new skills and get smarter. Some, like Coursera and Code.org, have been extensively covered elsewhere and so have probably crossed your radar already, but others may be new to you, including Dash--Learn to make awesome websites. DataQuest--Learn data science in your browser. Lingvist--Learn a language in 200 hours. [I'm skeptical about the 200 hours claim. Has anyone tried it and succeeded?] Thinkful--Advance your career with 1-on-1 mentorship. Platzi--Live streaming classes on design, marketing, and code. Highbrow--Get bite-size daily courses to your inbox. Memrise--Use flashcards to learn vocabulary. [Note: The site's co-founder recently shared memory tips here on Inc.com] Learnist--Learn from expertly curated web, print, and video content. Chesscademy--Learn how to play chess for free. Isn't it about time you devote some of your browsing time to learning something new? What skill are you most interested in learning about online? |
As an entrepreneur, you can't help but be inspired and motivated by the people who have overcome the odds to become extremely successful. Richard Branson battled dyslexia. George Solos survived the Nazi occupation of Budapest. Andrew Carnegie, Sam Walton, and Amancio Ortega escaped poverty. If you're not familiar with the name Amancio Ortega, you shouldn't feel embarrassed. He happens to be incredibly reclusive, despite being the richest man in Europe, and the fourth in world, with an estimated net worth of over $70 billion. In fact, there's even a rumor that there wasn't even a picture of him until 1999! Even if you don't know the man, you most likely know of his clothing retailer, Zara. But how did following a dream take Amancio Ortega from poverty to being worth $70 billion-plus? A rags-to-riches story. To understand the story of how Zara became such a dominant force in the fashion industry and made Ortega billions, you must first understand the childhood and humble beginnings of Ortega. Unlike most other wealthy Europeans, Amancio Ortega was born into poverty. Things were so dire for the Ortega family that his mother was denied credit at a grocery store, which meant she couldn't make dinner for the family that night. Amancio, at just 13 or 14 years old, left school the following day after witnessing this embarrassing situation. He got a job as a messenger boy at a shop and never looked back. This was a defining moment and the moment that has continued to drive him throughout his life. By the time Amancio was 40 years old, he had founded Zara in his hometown of La Coruna, Spain, in 1975. A decade later, he founded Zara's parent company, Inditex, and opened his first store outside of Spain, in Portugal. Throughout the late '80s and '90s, Zara expanded to Paris, London, and New York City. Today, Zara has more than 2,000 stores in 88 countries. But, what makes Zara such an appealing brand to so many global customers? It all goes back to the founder and his vision and work ethic. Give customers what they want and be faster than everyone else. Ortega has two rules for Zara that he has never strayed from since 1975: "Give the customers what they want and be faster than everyone else." The idea of giving customers what they want has been with Ortega since, at the age of 16, he was working in retail. Instead of forcing customers to purchase products they didn't care about, Ortega kept with the fashion trends, but he has made them more accessible for the everyday consumer in both design and price. However, Zara has been able to take this a step further -- also focusing on city specific trends. For example, a white jacket may not sell in New York because the preferred color is cream. Amazingly, there is a system in place where that information is sent to Spain and overnight cream-colored jackets arrive on 42nd Street. Additionally, Zara is able to replenish existing items in just two weeks and is able to customize orders in 24-48 hours, thanks to keeping everything in-house. According to Loreta Garca, head of Zara woman's trends department, "What seems great today, in two weeks is the worst idea ever." That quick turnaround gives Zara the ability to be ahead of competitors that outsource manufacturing in Asia. No wonder Daniel Piette, fashion director of Louis Vuitton, has described Zara as "the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world." Deliver quality. As fashion author Mark Tungate explains, "The secret to Zara's appeal is that, although shopping there is cheap, it doesn't feel cheap." Tungate adds that "Zara is renowned for whisking budget interpretations of catwalk styles into its stores with breathtaking speed. " Instead of spending money on a grand marketing plan, Zara let's its products do all the promotion. The brand delivers quality products that people actually want at a fair price. With that strategy, Zara has loyal customers who will spread the word about the brand. Be humble. Amancio dresses modestly, visits the same coffee shop every day, and even has lunch with his employees. Instead of being separated from the action, he has even been seen down in the trenches working with his designers and manufacturers. There has been a story recalled in Fortune that Amancio locked himself in a bathroom while attending the opening of Zara's Manhattan store. Why? Because he was so overcome with emotion after seeing so many customers pouring into the store. Despite all of his success, Ortega has remained humble and shows humility when it comes to the fashion empire that he has built. Do what you love. Ortega has long had a passion for fashion. This passion is the reason why he launched Zara. This passion is the reason why he never sat behind a desk, but worked with his employees on designs. And, even though he is semiretired, Amancio still keeps a lookout for the latest trends and provides valuable input. He does this because he loves what he's doing. As an entrepreneur, it's easy to see how Amancio Ortega has gone from poverty to being worth more than $70 billion in 35 years. He deserves this success more than most. He has put customers first, was able to outdo his rivals, has shown humility, and has remained passionate throughout all of these years. http://www.inc.com/marla-tabaka/inspirational-messages-from-entrepreneurs-who-are-beating-the-odds.html?cid=sf01002&sr_share=facebook Just about every author on Inc.com has interviewed and written about million and billionaire CEO's. We've spoken with the geniuses behind startups with more funding than many small business owners would ever dream of acquiring. We've aimed to bring you the best advice, strong doses of inspiration, and even success secrets that these titans have never before revealed. As we close out 2015, I believe that it is time to hear from a few of the entrepreneurs who are still deep in the trenches, waking each morning in hopes that today may bring the next measure of success they've been waiting for. Small business owners everywhere understand that they must beat the odds to survive, yet they forge ahead in their dreams. Like many of my readers, these entrepreneurs are climbing the ladder of success by challenging their creativity, working long hours, and shutting out the naysayers. Going into 2016 I want you to know that you're not alone; that your hard work will pay off, just as it is paying off for these entrepreneurs. I asked them each the same questions, in hopes that their answers would bring encouragement and take you into the New Year knowing that, while we all experience disappointment, there is always a win to look forward to. James Oliver, Jr. CEO, WeMontage.com My biggest disappointment in 2015 was the referral program I built didn't double my website traffic as I'd anticipated; it only grew by 15%. Getting noticed with a consumer-based internet business is hard and expensive. Letting consumer referrals drive organic traffic, a la Dropbox, can lead to explosive growth, but I failed to do it in 2015. The one thing that happened in 2015 that I'm most proud of is that I raised more capital, despite the business struggling badly in 2014. We ran out of cash and my team quit. Close friends thought I should have quit, too. It's always darkest before it goes pitch black. But eventually the light shines--if you don't quit. The single piece of encouragement I'd like to offer other entrepreneurs is, you are stronger than you know. Get to know your fears well because by leaning into them-a funny thing happens-you conquer them. Then you are transformed into an amazing, fearless human being. And who doesn't want that? Heather Prattas President & QueenBee, Baby-BeeHaven.com My biggest disappointment in 2015 was not finding or securing the strategic partnership I had hoped to. I applied for several opportunities including multiple grants and reality shows, aka Shark TANK, that didn't come to fruition in 2015. It may be long shot to some, but I spent a lot of time and effort on these potential opportunities. It's the world we entrepreneurs live in. The one thing that happened in 2015 that I'm most proud of is completing my latest product and bringing it to market. Our booth at the ABC Expo was a huge success and we got many credible leads that we are hoping to parlay into solid business deals. Seeing the positive response we got helped give me the confidence to continue growing my brand. There is no substitute for face-to-face connections. The single piece of advice or encouragement I'd like to offer to other entrepreneurs is to have an official business plan, as well as a working action plan. We are constantly pulled in many directions but this helps you stay on track and keep track of what you plan to accomplish on a weekly and monthly basis. Every time I can check something off that action plan, I know I'm making progress for long-term goals. Kendra Kroll CEO, portapocket.com My biggest disappointment in 2015 was feeling blown off by a retail contact when I flew to New York to get an audience with their women's division. I'd previously had two meetings at their Baltimore HQ, but had wanted to meet with this more targeted team; one that I thought would be more apt to see value and relevance of what we do. The one thing that happened in 2015 that I'm most proud of is finally finding, figuring out, and using tools that helping me build my business without relying on other people. Tools like Canva for design, Shipping Easy for shipping, crowdfire for instagram building, ContentBLVD to leverage YouTubers, and now delving into AutorResponder Madness to help with list conversions. It takes time, patience, and consistency, but using tools helps immeasurably! The single piece of advice or encouragement I'd like to offer to other entrepreneurs is no matter the disappointments and setbacks, you'll always have YOU at the end of the day. Never forget why you started what you started. There was and is a reason. You are your own best resource, and your own #1 cheerleader. Use your passion to move forward; don't worry about whether others buy into your vision or not. You can do this! I will leave you with wishes for a very happy holiday season and much success in 2016! You're not sure if others see your leadership potential at work, and you don't know why. You work hard. You have the skills. You follow the rules, but you still haven't been recognized for your contributions. You're still waiting in the wings for a promotion or that big break, and are getting more frustrated by the day--so frustrated you might even have started to look around at other options. Unfortunately, conversations with your managers and mentors aren't helping much. You hear things like, "You're doing great, but the time isn't quite right" or "We'll know it when you're ready." Too often, you leave those conversations more confused about what you have to do to advance than when you came in. The traditional advice offered to ambitious employees is to flawlessly execute your current job while starting to perform functions at the next level. While that is solid advice, there is something even more important that is often overlooked. And it's about what you say, and especially what you say in front of a group in meetings. Consider how you can contribute more (and often strategically) during your next meeting with these sentence starters. Ground initiatives in the strategic plan. "Let's think about how this ties back to our strategic goals for the year. I see a direct connection between project No. 1 and our key goal, but I am unclear about why we're considering project No. 2." Introduce industry perspectives. "I read a great how-to article (on Inc.com!) the other day that suggested these three steps ... I'll share it after the meeting." Ask questions to draw out views from others in the room. "Hey, we haven't heard from recruiting yet. What do you think?" Act as a responsible steward for the business. "A number of risks are coming to mind. Let's talk through how we might mitigate the impact of this project failing." Think long term about building organizational expertise. "We gained some important lessons learned during the development of this product. We should be sure to capture those and share them with others across the organization." Here also are the types of comments to avoid at all costs. Piling on examples of problems without advancing the conversation with a solution. Unless you're specifically asked for another example, let the point stand and focus on moving the conversation to discussing a proposed solution. Bashing any individual or group not present in the meeting. This sort of behavior is catty and cowardly, and only causes other participants to be concerned about what you say behind their backs. Any mutterings under your breath or side comments to your neighbor. If you have something to contribute, be bold and speak up to the entire group. Share any concerns with confidence and conviction. Why are the right kinds of meeting contributions so important? Meetings are when teammates, senior leaders, and clients are exposed to your ideas. That's obvious. However, what might not be so obvious is the importance of those interactions to how people perceive you, your strengths, and your future potential. What you choose to focus on with limited "air time" in meetings is a signal to all about what you think is important. I've been so fortunate to work with some of the smartest, most hardworking people in my career. But I watch them shoot themselves in the foot time and again--specifically in meetings. In the spirit of total transparency, I've seen myself do this many times as well. How we speak up and contribute in meetings can accelerate or delay career advancement. By choosing your words thoughtfully, you can change and enhance people's perceptions of you and move them toward the belief that you think strategically, are industry savvy, have your finger on the pulse of client needs, and are mission-oriented. Contributing this way is simple, but it does require a little preparation--and a lot of discipline. 2016 will be a great year to get the recognition and promotion you deserve. Accelerate your career and earn your next promotion by simply changing what you say in meetings. For more on how to change perceptions at work, check out Carolyn O'Hara's article "You Really Can Change Your Reputation at Work." http://www.inc.com/robin-camarote/sound-like-a-leader-with-these-5-simple-sentence-starters.html |

I would like to share the story of my encounter with the Nigerian police in Lagos, Nigeria specifically with the men of the Idimu Police station, Area M. As this is a story that might resonate with a lot of Nigerians, I am not unaware that the story that I am about to share is common but I believe that the fact that this happens almost daily should not allow us to see it as acceptable norm or behavior. We are after all human beings who should be accorded human dignity. On the 15th of December 2015 at about 11am I left my house in search of fuel for my car and generator, after being able to get the product only for the car at the NNPC station I proceeded to drive down to an ATM point to withdraw some money as I intended to get some more fuel. I got to the Isheri round about very near Idimu and I was about to take the turn when I saw a police vehicle by my side with a man waving, I stopped thinking that they were requesting right of way but I noticed he was pointing that I park. I parked just by the side as a law abiding citizen and soon after 1 policeman came over and requested that he get into the vehicle, I opened the door and he asked who owned the vehicle to which I replied that I did, he also asked for my vehicle particulars, driver license all which I provided and he confirmed to be ok and intact. He then proceeded to ask me what I do to which I replied that I was a civil servant and also showed him my identity card. I expected him to exit the vehicle at that point but he asked to see my phone, my two phones meanwhile were visibly displayed by my side. I asked him why he would want to see my phone as I felt that was a violation of my privacy but he insisted and I felt since he had returned my vehicle papers I would get the phones back immediately. At that point a 2nd police officer had walked to my side of the window, he also requested to see my other blackberry phone. I complied knowing that I had nothing to hide , it was barely 20 seconds when I gave the 2nd policeman that he asked me who had the email accounts on my blackberry device, I replied and told him I did. The next thing I heard shocked me as the 2nd policeman made a baseless, unwarranted, logic defying statement and accused me of being an online fraudster, I couldn’t believe what I had just heard, how do you stop a man in his car without any proof, any report or prior investigation and label him an online fraudster I denied this and said I was not an online fraudster as I was a civil servant working with the government and that I had identified myself earlier on with the 1st police officer. He said he could see 2 email addresses on the phone and that was proof that I was an online fraudster, I told them that having multiple email addresses was not illegal and didn’t make me an online fraudster. All this while my phones were with them, I was told to drive to the police station to clear the accusations at that point I knew the police officers were being mischievous. While on the short drive to the police station the police man started asking questions like “e be like say you don live abroad before?” to which I did not respond. We got to the police station and the police man continued to stay in the vehicle, I kept asking what I was brought to the station for without any valid response as he kept looking through my Facebook messages, pictures, WhatsApp, emails. Finally he said we should get out of the car and was joined by the 2nd policeman. I was taken to a canteen in the police premise at the Idimu station, there I was asked to explain pictures of my trip abroad, the picture of my passport, my letter by COREN that I was certified as a registered engineer, my pictures at work, sms sent to relatives wishing them a happy new month, emails from my bank, chats with a colleague at work who was telling me his travel plans, internal memos from my work place and other private information. This they said showed I was online fraudster , I could not believe this, how would anyone with a sane mind claim that by sending a sms or becoming an engineer, owning multiple email addresses or travelling equate to becoming an online fraudster. It was a preposterous suggestion that I kept refuting, but these 2 policemen were hell bent on warping the rule of law. I told them since I had responded to all they had asked and as such I had nothing to be held down for, this got them more adamant and they started to say I was acting smart, after almost an hour I was asked to follow them and that they would show me, I was taken to the anti vice office on the 1st floor of a 1 storey building. I got there and the office had 3 women and another man sitted, by then they were already saying they would deal with me as they kept going through my phone they then saw some emails from a premier online store in Nigeria (names withheld) and asked how I came about that, I explained that I registered on the website and that anyone could do that. At that juncture the 1st policeman Mr. Godwin Imo (384734) retorted and said any online business is a fraud, he said I should provide an ID card from the online store, I said I did not have an ID card from the store as you only needed to register and tried explaining that just like people were on Facebook, Facebook do not issue ID’s .it was most heart-wrenching to see the display of ignorance by an officer in this modern world. I was then told to write a statement I asked the reason why I should write any statement as I was not informed that I was arrested or being detained neither was there any case reported against me and I followed them because I thought it was just a regular traffic stop. Immediately I said that 1 of the women in the office replied in a most aggressive manner that I was not serious and I must write a statement with the policeman boasting that this was the anti robbery and not a traffic department. Knowing very well the news of how innocent people are paraded as robbers or even dead bodies displayed as robbers killed in gun battles. I decided to thread more softly with care even as I reminded them that I work and serve the Federal government just like them. At this point I asked that I be allowed to make a call, to my shock I was refused saying I could only make a call when I had written a statement. This was a brazen denial of my basic right, I told them that I was not writing any statement at which they began to sound more menacing saying they were going to make a case out of this, another woman in the office then said I should write a statement stating all that happened and my response to any question they might ask me, at this point the 2nd officer Mr. Okah James (365635) forcefully said I should write a statement and was claiming he would write to the British embassy that I had a criminal record including all sorts of threats like writing to the online store etc , this only proved to me that these men were highly incapable of critical thinking and I had to be more careful to save my life. I decided to write a statement only if to be able to call and notify someone of my present location before anything untoward happened. While I was filling the information details on the statement form I had filled my phone number, home address, e.t.c I was stopped short by Officer Okah James and said the best I could do was to bail myself. I pleaded to make a call so someone could come and help me, I believe the officers hearing “help” took it for me wanting to bring someone to bring money and I was allowed to make a call to a family member the Officer Okah James even spoke with my family member and I pleaded that they wait as they said I had to take them to the online stores office at Akowonjo road. To cut the story short, after asking me to get into their vehicle with me being told I would be handcuffed after I protested severely. My family member came vouched for me and seeing that the person was elderly they soft pedaled and told lies that I was an online fraudster and I claimed to be working with the online store, a call was put to a police officer known by my family member who then spoke with Officer Okah James. After about an hour with the 2 officers they said since they had spoken with a superior officer they would let me go if I paid 10,000 naira for fuel. Seeing no headway we had to part with some money, before I was let off after I had spent over 3 hours. I can only imagine what would have happened if could not speak up or I was some uneducated persons who had no form of identification, worst still if I had no money to settle them. I feel sad for Nigeria, the very people who should protect and defend us are those who abuse and intimidate us. This is what you get even when you’re law abiding and dutifully serve your country. NB: For record purpose I was lucky enough to have voice recordings for some of the events. My questions and the posers that arise are these... i. Is the Nigerian police allowed to indiscriminately violate your privacy without a warrant as in the case of my phones been searched? ii. Is it legal for the police to hold you in their custody and refuse you a right to make a phone call and do they have such power? iii. Do the police have the power to make a fictitious charge against you and ask you to pay bail for a charge they can’t prove? iv. How is justice obtained for cases such as this where people are falsely accused and detained? I hope this gets to the appropriate authorities and I can get answers as I am actually worried because I ply this route all the time and several Nigerians including myself are at the mercy of these men. All the same I love Nigeria and I am proudly one but the future needs us to speak out against evil and any form of oppression for the better tomorrow we all desire. |
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/195668-we-have-defeated-boko-haram-december-deadline-met-nigeria-says-2.html The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said on Wednesday that the Nigerian military had met the December deadline to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists. The minister said this during his maiden meeting with editorial heads of media houses in Lagos. President Mohammadu Buhari had, upon assuming office, issued a December 31 deadline to the military to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists. “Today, I can report that the war against Boko Haram is largely won. “I can confidently say this because just recently, I led a group of 33 journalists from both the local and international media to the hotbed of the insurgency, that is, Maiduguri, Kondugua, Kaoure and Bama. “Today, I can report to you that the entire 70 plus kilometres stretch from Maiduguri to Bama and all the way to Banki which leads to Cameroun and the Central African Republic are in the hands of our gallant troops.” He said the military presence could be felt ”every few metres along the road; at a point along that road we were just a kilometre to Sambisa forest. “They have so degraded the capacity of Boko Haram that the terrorists can no longer hold on to any territory just as they can no longer carry out any spectacular attack.” Mr. Mohammed, however, said that although there were still cases of suicide bombings, it was pertinent to note that such was the nature of insurgency globally. “Unlike a war between two armies, an insurgency never ends with arms victory “Even in countries like Colombia where insurgency was supposed to have ended decades ago, attacks like this still happen.” He said that the insurgents had adopted a new style of attacking soft targets like motor parks, schools, entertainment centres, religious centres, killing innocent people mostly women and children. He, therefore, urged Nigerians to support the military in the fight against terrorism in the country, saying that the military had availed itself creditably. “It is our turn as civilians to give them our support; to realise that the war they are fighting is not their war alone, but our war, hence we must own the war.” The minister disclosed that a national security campaign had commenced to raise awareness among Nigerians about the war, the sacrifices of our troops, and how to stamp out the remnant of the war. “Jingles are being played on national radio and television as part of the campaign in order to keep the media better informed about the war, so that they can also better inform Nigerians,’’ he said. Mr. Mohammed also said that an ad-hoc committee, comprising media representatives as well as intelligence agencies, would be inaugurated to regularly be updated about the war in order to better inform the public. |

it appears all those that have made comments here dont like APC, Please APC supporters come and discredit what Prof Sagay is saying |
http://nigeriantimes.ng/news/how-apc-corrupts-inec-judiciary-sagay-reveals-says-buhari-not-sincere-about-anti-corruption-fight/ Head of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption to President Muhammadu Buhari and renowned constitutional lawyer, Professor Itse Sagay has revealed that the President’s party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) is more corrupt than the ousted People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He said in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune that the APC is peopled by very clever and highly intelligent, as well as criminally minded people taking advantage of any slightest opportunity or loophole unlike the PDP. “I am telling you sincerely, you can hardly beat them in such an issue.” Speaking on the knotty issues of the Kogi governorship election and other political cases before the courts in Nigeria, Sagay said most of the political judgements in court now will be tilting in favour of the APC because they are in power. He said in Kogi State, the most eligible person to have been used to replace the late Abubakar Audu in the supplementary election was Audu’s running mate, James Faleke but because a powerful caucus felt he would not listen to them, the powers that be within the party manipulated the whole situation against him. Alleging that the judiciary is being manipulated by the executive, he said the independence of the judiciary is just a mere saying. “For instance, a judge can be fired by the person (the President) that puts him there if he gives a judgement that is not pleasing to his party. And because the judge is still interested in his job, he will want to act to the script.” He also alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is being seriously compromised by the politicians in power. “I am very close to some of their top officials somehow and I know that they dance to the tune of the politicians, especially the incumbents. For instance in Kogi, before the election, the people and key PDP stalwarts did not support the candidacy of Idris Wada. However, the APC should not have got that kind of votes. And when that kind of thing happens, that is the loophole INEC takes advantage of to the advantage of whoever it wants to support. People still buy INEC and that is the truth. For instance in Lagos State, no other party win except the APC.” Sagay also alleged that all INEC officials in Lagos State are under the payroll of a powerful politician and leader of the APC. “All the INEC officials in Lagos are on the payroll of someone who will ask you what it takes to win. Someone who is ready to give you more than you ask for. It is everywhere but it depends on who can spend more.” He also did not spare the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) saying the institutions lack integrity. He said: “Immediately President Buhari got to Aso Rock, the EFCC and DSS, as if they have not existed before, began to arrest and do all sort of things. “But if you look at it holistically, are they saying it is only PDP governors and public office holders that are corrupt? No. One thing is that they are doing whatever they are doing to please the President, who can hire and fire them. Which of the governors out of the 36 States is not corrupt? So, why is it that only PDP people are being chased up and down? The anti-corruption crusade is being selective.” Accusing President Buhari of lack of seriousness in his anti-corruption campaign, he said all others in APC who are stealing should also be chased adding that his party men will do a job meant for N50billion for N100billion. “It is only then that the fight against corruption can be seen as fair and balanced. When there is no equity and justice, people will begin to doubt your integrity in whatever you are pursuing. “For instance, if we recall 1983 when Buhari/Idiagbon came to office, immediately they knew there was corruption, they changed Nigerian currency so that all the people that had stolen money and kept it at home had such rendered useless and all corrupt officials were arrested. “But you also have to remember that Ambrose Ali died in prison, Adelakun who was deputy governor to Bola Ige died in prison, Olabisi Onabanjo developed kidney problem in prison. Most of these people were Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) governors. But in whose house was N50million cash belonging to the government found? That person was only given a house arrest, because he is a Northerner. No Northerner was treated the way they treated the Southern governors. “That is why as much as I know President Buhari, his sincerity is not total. “If you remember the case of 53 suit cases, Abubakar Atiku was the Customs Officer in charge and it was through the back door that they used to bring in the suit cases to Nigeria. But they were intercepted; when Atiku wanted to make trouble about it, he was sacked by President Buhari and nothing was done. “Our anti-graft fight is cosmetic; we are not serious about it, I must be sincere with you. What people don’t know is that APC is more corrupt, they will defraud Nigerians more than the PDP.” |

President Obama rode on the cash of donors. He did that following strictly laid down U.S. electoral laws. As it happened lawyers and accountants kept an eagle eye on donations. More importantly, questionable donations were returned. All of these were to avoid any scandal. And there would have been huge scandal if his opponents picked on any. Ndi-Okereke famously mobilised funds for Obama from Nigeria and the donation was rejected. The difference in Buhari's case is that he knew very well that the money his election was being promoted with where hugely stole funds. Regarding the money and the Jeep Buhari collected. He was in a position to raise questions on the sources. Since 1985 when he was kicked out of office was he receiving his entitlements through the NSA's office? Did he or did he not run a security budget during his time as Head of State? Did he give other Heads of States their entitlement through security vote? Is there a law that defines what security vote is for? As you rightly noted, if the recognition couldn't be extended to everyone shouldn't that was affected by Boko Haram shouldn't that have raised more questions in the President's mind? Or based on his experience as a former C-in-C has the the NSA become insurance company to replace cars? Again, the law entitled him to 3 vehicles. Why did he accept 5? I know that presently Buhari can do no evil in the eyes of many Nigerians. And that is completely fair. Did he sign any document to collect the cars? If he didn't didn't he expose himself equally to the claim that he also collected money in cash? These are simply logical questions. Being honest and acting honest are both matters of one's perspective. We all could choose to define the glass as either half full or half empty for a range of reasons. I don't see where the honesty is in telling the world that there was fraud in petrol subsidy. 1. When investigations began leading to the doors of the President and his men, we stopped hearing about it; 2. Today the same people who told us that there is no subsidy and that the whole payment was a fraud paid for unverified supplies have paid more on subsidy than the past administration which they accused of fraud. This is bearing in mind that the international price of crude has collapsed and they may actually be no subsidy presently. GEJ lied to the country about the state of the economy. So also is the present government lying about the economy. There said they met an empty treasury. Next they spent massive funds bailing out the states. Did they get that from an empty treasury? They said they were selling the presidential fleet to reduce cost due to the lean pursue. Next the denied it. Perharps, the purse is not as lean as they have lied to Nigerians. Again, the President has been junketeering. So the purse in not lean. They said the country is broke, yet they signed an agreement to pay a single company 1% of the entire funds moped up in the country using a software. How has funds been moped up before this time? How much would it have cost Nigeria to buy up that software and own it? Besides quietly refunding the money that was already criminally paid to the company has any other thing been heard? One would have thought that a President who truly means that there would be no corruption in his time will use that to set a clear example. This ongoing national circus called Dasukigate is a disguise that will lead no where as much as we want corruption eradicated. Its vintage vindictive Buhari. This is mainly about funds used for the last elections. He he has taken the fight to those who vilified him. If he is honest about fighting corruption why would Amaechi who has been formally indicted by a commission of inquiry be sitting as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria while Buhari's political opponents are being questioned? This is not the first time a high corruption issue is being dealt with in Nigeria. We had the case of Tafa Balogun, Afolabi, etc. By mid 2016 people will begin to realise the deep shit the country is in. And I hope people will remember Obama then. That he earned an American economy that was in deep shit, sat down and went to work. And what we got here? |

see the source here oooohh http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/exclusive/jonathan-constructed-more-roads-than-any-other-nigerian-president-fashola Babatunde Raji Fashola , Nigeria’s Minister for Power, Works and Housing on Tuesday while unveiling his plans praised the achievements of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Fashola during his first news conference tagged “Setting the Agenda for Delivering Change” said that Goodluck Jonathan has constructed more roads than any president ever in Nigeria. He also acknowledged that the Transformation in the power sector is above 50 % and that he would try to build on it. Minister of State for Works, Adebayo Adeyeye, also said that Jonathan’s administration has recorded more success in the provision of motorable roads than any other administration in the history of Nigeria. Adeyeye, who spoke as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, insisted that the Jonathan administration has made considerable progress in the road sector, more than any of the governments that have administered the country. According to him, the administration in 2011 had about 4,500 kilometres of fairly motorable roads, just as he explained that today the administration has about 25,000 kilometres of very good roads. |
