I can imagine the pains you must have passed through before making your mind to call the 7 years relationship a quit.It is quite a pity.I would have suggested you sort things out with  him since he denied the relationship with the babe in question but on the other hand ,it's like he himself had also made his mind before saying he would respect any action you take.
For me however, goodbye is a very sad  word i hate to hear but since you have said it and your guy doesn't seem to have problem with it,It's okay.
My prayer is that God gives you a man that would really cherish you for whom you are and in no time,marriage & children will follow depending on how you want it.
