For a kleptocracy that acquired notoriety in infamy, peculation and impoverishment of its citizenry, rhetoric embellished with deception and bogus claims was essential. Therefore it was not unanticipated when Governor Orji proficiently said thus to pull the wool over Adesina's eyes: “my administration is determined to build an economically viable state, through a sustainable agricultural development.
“From inception, this administration placed a premium on revitalisation of agriculture which in the past was the mainstay of the nation’s economy. Our programme and policy thrust are aimed at boosting food production because of the belief that self-sufficiency in food production is panacea for sustainable democracy and economic growth.” Bravo, isn’t it? Nobody would have been unenthusiastic with this sugar-coated rhetoric; even the bamboozled Adesina applauded and nodded in acquiescence. He wouldn’t have been less impressed.

Responding, the deluded and bamboozled Adesina said, Nigeria spends more than N1.2 trillion and $71 billion on the importation of basic food and fish annually. According to the Minister, “it was for this reason that President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan decided to transform Agricultural sector to stop making farmers of other countries rich through importation of their products while Nigerian farmers are relegated to slaves of other nations.”
But the Minister of Agriculture was wide of the mark; Abia State government had a diverse and underhanded agenda. Therefore to further hoodwink the FG, cheques were presented to the two award winning farmers, Eze, Ajomiwe and Chief Onyenweaku before the minister and other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
As Dr. Adesina made his way out of the venue of the programme, the recipients were cornered behind the curtain and the cheques retrieved from them without explanation. They were asked to drop their First bank account details (the official bank the farmers were directed to open account with for the purpose of the GESS) and wait for alerts that never come even as you read this.


To evaluate its effort, the Federal Government sent delegates to Abia State. When Abia State government got the hint of their arrival, they received the delegate with a state banquet at the government House. Having tried in vain to convince them not to pay a visit to the Cocoa farmer who had repeatedly brought honour to Abia State and Nigeria, the then Commissioner for Agriculture, Ike Onyenweaku and one ADP staff, Mr Ezeala rushed to Chief Nnochiri Onyenweaku and pleaded with the old man to cover Abia State government up. They said they were sent by Governor Orji and appealed to him to acknowledge receipt of N25 million from Abia State government when visited by the delegates. They further lied to the octogenarian Cocoa farmer that the modalities for payment being worked out by Abia government were the reason for the delay.
The hapless and helpless old man knowing the probable consequence of his refusal to oblige opted to play along. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Ike Onyenweaku and Mr Ezeala then brought them to Chief Nnochiri Onyenweaku’s farm. Sensing that something wasn’t right, they asked the octogenarian how much was given to him. Ike Onyenweaku quickly intercepted and yelled, N25 million! They frowned at him and asked him to allow the old man speak for himself. Left with no choice, Pa Onyenweaku admitted receipt of N25 million. But the FG’s delegate expressed their dissatisfaction over the amount considering the magnitude of the Cocoa farm that covers 3,000 hectares of land.

The Abia State commissioner for Agriculture, Ike then asked Pa Onyenweaku to meet them at the Hotel Royal Damgrete ostensibly for his payment but when he got there, they were nowhere to be found and the Abuja delegates had also gone. After several failed attempts to get the money, the old man gave up. However, from the N181.5 million realised from the illegal sell of form, Chief Wachukwu and Ike headed GESS loan committee settled some of the widows and other political loyalists with one million naira each. They were directed to return N700, 000 (seven hundred thousand naira) to them when the money dropped into their various accounts. Of course they did and only had N300, 000 (three hundred thousand naira) left to frolic around. After all they were not farmers so they have nothing to complain about. It was free money they had privileged to enjoy for being sycophants and obsequious factotums.

One of the closest Igbo man to the President Elect is Dr Chris Ngige Onwa, a Senator who was defeated in the Senatorial Election.

See how bad Igbos are at strategizing? They couldn't override a pathological hatred for General Buhari to make a hedge bet and return this man to the Senate, to enhance his chances at Senate President, in case General Buhari wins, which he did.

Instead folks played tribal and religious politics to the tilt as drunken sailors, and failed the man and the chance to make history as Senate President.

That's what happens when emotions trips common sense and folks succumb to hustlers like Peter Obi and Arthur Eze, hustlers after their own interests instead of the masses they pretend to serve.

I urged caution, I pleaded that we were making a huge mistake to hitch our wagon on Jonathan who wasn't going to win. And predictably he lost, so also our chance in the new administration.

I hate to gloat.

But maybe, maybe, only maybe he gets a good ministerial appointment, but nothing beats being Senate President.

Igbos are very bad at politics.

Fifty years after independence, we are yet to produce a president when others have taken multiple turns. Our answer? Blame others! If you only Hausas didn't do this or Yorubas didn't do that, perhaps the god of politics will bless our lot.

And sadly it won't stop until we learn to coexist with others instead of our 'better than thou' attitude when dealing with the Hausas and Yorubas. We are not better than anyone, these folks we thumb our noses at, are God's creatures like us.

We don't like the Hausas and we don't like the Yorubas, yet we populate their States in search for our livelihood.

Our politics should mirror our economic aspirations, not the other way around. There is no wisdom in living in the North, earning a living, yet despise the Northerners. That's being ungrateful. The gods of politics don't like that.

How long can this collective amnesia insulate us from meaningfully seating at the table, making contributions to Nigeria's political evolution?

MY PERSONAL COMMENTS IN REFERENCE TO LAGOS POLITICS:
Hmmm ... I sincerely hope Igbo people are listening to one of their leaders and vote wisely in LAGOS FOR THE GUBERNATORIAL ELECTIONS.

They have flexed their muscle at the last presidential elction in Lagos and the indigenes of Lagos are NOT smiling. Despite their heroic efforts on behalf of Jonathan, Jonathan still lost Lagos and now hte APC leadership and followership is taking a close look at the Igbos and what their ascendancy in Lagos politics means for he indigenes. Right now it is not looking pretty and a lot will depend on what they o on Aprril 11th.

I think the Igbo Leaders in Lagos need to sit down and ask themselves the logical question: WOULD IT BE IN THEIR OWN BEST INTEREST TO VOTE EN MASSE AGAIN FOR PDP IN LAGOS? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AGBAJE ULTIMATELY LOSES? Lagosians WONT FORGET! Of course they can also FORGET any patronage by the new governor. You cant vote EN MASSE against a candidate and then expect favours after election. Lagos state learnt that in the last 16 years of voting against the goverment at the center. It wont be different for Igbos in Lagos and this wont even be about tribalism at all.

BOTTOM LINE IN POLITICS IS YOU CANT EXPECT SPECIAL PATRONAGE OR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION IF YOU DIDNT VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE. Even if the candidate does not discriminate against you, he cannot be disposed to FAVORING YOU...... That is something igbos must think about VERY SERIOUSLY.

No matter the anger of the igbos against the APC Govt in lagos, the fact remains that Fashola Govt (just like Tinubu Govt before him) has IGBO COMMISSIONERS AND LOCAL GOVT LEADERS when we know that could NEVER happen in igboland. Right now the APC in Lagos rightly see the igbo action at the presidential level as betrayal and the people may take this out on them and their businesses if this action repeats itself at governorship elections and then Agbaje loses. Lagosians may not be so forgiving.

So, if the Igbos want to vote AGBAJE as a BLOC VOTE, then they had better be sure that AGBAJE would win otherwsie it would be a VERY LONG 4 years for them under Ambode. Again, this will NOT be about tribalism but about who is against me cannot expect me to empower him. OBASANJO WAS A YORUBA PRESIDENT BUT HE DEALT MERCILESSLY WITH LAGOS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY VOTED AGAINST HIS PARTY IN LAGOS. This is POLITICS and not tribalism

Please this post is strictly for mothers. I need your kind advice and counsel. I am a mother of two. I have this very disturbing condition. My breasts have become fully sagged and frail looking after I had my second baby. It worries me a lot. My Husband does not bother touching or sucking my breasts when making love to me these days, not to talk of sucking them. My name is UD (not real name), a Nigerian and i am married to European who is 10 years older than me. We met in Europe but got married in Lagos.

Well, after our marriage, we always have family issues and fights like every other couple, but the problem i am having with my wife is that any time we are having our small misunderstanding, she always gets physical.. Initially, its just a small slap to my face and some nail scratching on my body here and there. And when this started in Europe, i will always try to walk away or hold her hands to calm her down, but seems the more i take the beatings, the more courage and bold she becomes in always hitting me during an argument or small misunderstanding with her.

Recently, we both came back to Nigeria for a business we brought down from Europe, and since we started living in Nigeria, i couldn't hold myself any longer as i have tried so in so many occasions to avoid hitting her back, but at a point i couldn't take it any more and i had to hit her back! though not so hard, but like oyibos, her skin where i hit her turned purple color and the next day everybody at our office was looking at me like the devil himself and a woman beater... I felt very very bad that i swore never to touch her again!

But last night she came all out for me again, hitting me, throwing lamps and whatever at me, and i lost it again and had to hit her! This time a bit hard! Please what am i supposed to do because i don't feel good after this fights especially when i have to hit her back.

And some of you might ask, why are we always fighting Well, i happens to be the bread winner in my family, but my wife doesn't understand why i should give money to my brother to help him in his business or pay for a new home for my mum. She said my family is too lazy and they should go and fend for themselves. My family is all i had and i feel obliged to help them even as i have a joint business venture with my wife and we run same account, thus finds out anytime i give them money. My brother was the one who helped and paid for my studies in Europe when his business was moving fine...now i feel i have to support him too because he has some problems with his business, but my oyibo wife will not hear of it and thus leads to our fighting and she getting physical with me..

On corruption, there will be no confusion as to where I stand. Corruption will have no place and the corrupt will not be appointed into my administration. First and foremost, we will plug the holes in the budgetary process. Revenue producing entities such as NNPC and Customs and Excise will have one set of books only. Their revenues will be publicly disclosed and regularly audited. The institutions of state dedicated to fighting corruption will be given independence and prosecutorial authority without political interference. But I must emphasise that any war waged on corruption should not be misconstrued as settling old scores or a witch-hunt. I’m running for President to lead Nigeria to prosperity and not adversity.
