Troops Launch Operation Munzo, Neutralize Terror Kingpin Mati, Several Fighters And Recover Weapons in Zamfara The Troops under the Headquarters Operation Forest Yakin (HQOPFY) have commenced “Operation Munzo,” a special clearance operation targeting terrorist camps in Zamfara State. Zagazola Makama gathered from intelligence sources that the operation kicked off from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bagega in Anka Local Government Area, with troops advancing through Tibuki and Sabuwar Tunga villages to the notorious Mati terrorist camps. The sources said heavy resistance was encountered as the terrorists engaged the advancing troops with light and support weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades. However, the troops responded with superior firepower, neutralising scores of the insurgents in the process. Intercepts suggest that the terror kingpin known as Mati, believed to be the mastermind of several attacks in the area, was killed along with several of his fighters during the fierce exchange. A soldier attached to the Special Boat Service (SBS) sustained a gunshot wound to the lower rib and has since been stabilised and evacuated for treatment. Items recovered from the scene include one PKT rifle with two belts and 90 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, five AK-47 rifles, and 12 magazines containing 487 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Also recovered were three Baofeng radios with chargers, military and police uniforms, and other combat gear. Three motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were destroyed on site, while rustled cattle found at the camp were also eliminated. All terrorist life-support structures in the Mati camp were completely burnt and destroyed during the operation. However, two tyres of a combat support vehicle were damaged, and another vehicle sustained a broken lower arm. In a separate movement, logistics vehicles advancing from FOB Bagega to FOB Dan Gulbi at about 9:15 a.m. came under ambush near a bridge. The troops promptly repelled the attack. While casualty figures on the side of the attackers remain unconfirmed, one soldier sustained injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. “Operation Munzo” is expected to continue in the coming days as troops intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves across Zamfara’s forested zones. Stay tuned as Zagazola brings you update deep from the theartre of the North West Operation . Source: @Zagazola

NOTORIOUS BANDIT KINGPIN NEUTRALIZED IN ZAMFARA He masterminded inded cattle rustling operations and imposed illegal taxes on villages under his control. T roops of Operation Fansan Yanma have eliminated notorious bandit leader Kachallah Dan Isihu, bringing an end to his years-long reign of terror across Zamfara, Katsina, and parts of Kaduna State. Kachallah, a ruthless warlord, was responsible for numerous deadly raids, ambushes on security forces, and mass kidnappings. He masterminded cattle rustling operations and imposed illegal taxes on villages under his control. His influence stretched beyond local banditry — he played a key role in the infamous Kaduna train attack, where he allegedly received N800million in ransom from negotiations. A security expert, Zagazola Makama, confirmed on his X handle on Thursday that notorious bandit leader Kachallah, was neutralised in a decisive military operation. Kachallah’s criminal network, which controlled key supply routes for arms and ransom payments, is now expected to weaken under sustained military pressure. According to Zagazola, Kachallah’s activities escalated during Ramadan, when he intensified attacks, reportedly killing at least one person daily as part of what he called a “personal obligation.” In the weeks leading up to his death, he orchestrated multiple high-profile attacks that placed him at the top of security forces’ most-wanted list. These included: "A twin assault on Tsafe town that resulted in the deaths of the Tsafe Local Government Security Chief, vigilante members, and security operatives. Daily ambushes along the Tsafe-Yankara highway, where he and his men terrorized travelers, launching up to seven attacks in a single day and coordinated raids on rural communities, burning homes, and forcing entire villages to flee. Kachallah’s operations were bolstered by his alliance with Ado Alero, a notorious bandit leader wanted by the Katsina State Government, with a ₦5million bounty on his head. The military tracked Kachallah’s movements to a well-fortified camp in the forests of Zamfara, a key base for his operations. Zagazola noted that under Operation Fansan Yanma, a special task force comprising elite ground troops, Air Force fighter jets, and tactical reconnaissance units launched a coordinated assault. Zagazola detailed the offensive, describing it as swift and devastating: Aerial bombardments targeted key positions, cutting off escape routes. "Ground forces simultaneously engaged Isihu’s fighters in a fierce battle. After hours of resistance, Isihu was fatally wounded and later died in Danjibga forest, along with dozens of his fighters. A military officer who participated in the mission recounted the moment they confirmed Isihu’s death: "We knew the battle was over when his men started fleeing in disarray. We had been fighting them for four days. He was wounded earlier but later succumbed to his injuries this evening." The elimination of Kachallah represents a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in the North-West. "For residents of Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna, his downfall provides a rare moment of relief. However, security forces remain on high alert, vowing to sustain their offensive until all criminal elements are eradicated," he added. https://saharareporters.com/2025/03/27/nigerian-troops-reportedly-kill-notorious-bandits-leader-kachallah-isihu-zamfara

NAF NIGHT AIRSTRIKES ANNIHILATE TERRORIST COMMAND HUB IN MANDARA MOUNTAINS In a bold demonstration of air power and precision night warfare capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed a devastating nocturnal airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa on 16 March 2025. The night operation targeted insurgent enclaves deep within the treacherous Mandara Mountains, delivering a crippling blow to the terrorists' stronghold and disrupting their activities. Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data, reports indicated that the notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters had planned a high-level engagement at the location. ISR missions over the area confirmed terrorist activity at a key assembly point in Degbewa, alongside the presence of heavily fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations - clear evidence of an active command hub. Following this intelligence, the NAF immediately launched a precision night strike under the cover of darkness, achieving complete surprise. The coordinated firepower extensively destroyed the terrorists' logistics and command centre, igniting large fires that obliterated multiple structures and eliminated scores of terrorists in their hideouts. This operation against Boko Haram enclaves across the theatre significantly degraded their fighting capability while creating favourable conditions for ground troops to advance and dominate the battlespace. The successful execution of this night operation underscores the NAF’s growing dominance in both day and night air power capabilities, proving that insurgents can no longer operate under the cover of darkness. Through relentless precision strikes and sustained air operations, the NAF remains committed to utilising its formidable air power to neutralise terrorist networks and restore lasting peace to the region.
