TROOPS DESERTION STORY NOT TRUE

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication in a section of the media alleging that over a 100 Nigerian troops were reported to have absconded after Boko Haram attacks on Marte and Dikwa. This publication is false, unfounded and an attempt to malign the image and character of the Nigerian Army.

For the records, in the fog of war, it is a routine that head count is conducted to determine the number of men and equipment holding aftermath of military offensive. Unfortunately, an internal correspondence that was originated by the formation was not properly done. It was later discovered that a good number of those affected rejoined their respective units and are currently part of the ongoing clearance operations.

Members of the general public are please advised to disregard the story as the subversive intent of the promoters are targeted at dampening the morale and fighting efficiency of our troops. We continually solicit especially the much needed public support in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Nigerian Army wishes to reassure the general public that troops are in high spirit and currently clearing areas infiltrated by Boko Haram terrorists/ISWAP. It is on record that the troops fought to defend the Internally Displaced Persons Camp and United Nations Humanitarian Hub in Dikwa. It is pertinent to also note that normalcy has returned to Dikwa and its environs.

MAIDEN OPERATIONAL VISIT: CAS INSPECTS ONGOING
PROJECTS IN KAINJI, GOMBE SAYS LOCATIONS READY TO
RECEIVE SUPER TUCANO, UAVs ON SCHEDULE
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM)
Oladayo Amao, has commended the pace of work on
ongoing infrastructural development projects at the 407 Air
Combat Training Group (407 ACTG), Nigerian Air Force
(NAF) Base Kainji, Niger State, which are being emplaced to
accommodate the 12 x A-29 Super Tucano aircraft when
they arrive Nigeria. The CAS equally expressed some
degree of satisfaction with the progress of work on ongoing
projects at the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group (109
CRG, formerly known as 203 CRG) NAF Gombe, which is to
serve as the Base for the Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles
(UCAVs) ordered by the Federal Government from China.
AVM Amao made these known today, 3 March 2021, while
on his maiden operational visit to the NAF Bases in Kainji
and Gombe.
Speaking after the inspection/assessment tour of projects
in Kainji, which include the ongoing construction of 3 blocks
of 10 single-bedroom Single Officers’ Quarters (SOQ), one
block of 6 x three-bedroom Married Officers’ Quarters
(MOQ) as well as a block of 30 x single-bedroom Transit
Accommodation for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs),
AVM Amao expressed delight at the commendable pace of
work. The CAS, who also inspected work on the arming
bays, apron and other projects being executed by
contractors assigned by the United States Government,
stated that it was very clear that all was being done to
ensure that virtually all the infrastructure required to
accommodate the Super Tucano aircraft would be in place
prior to their arrival by the middle of 2021.
Before departing Kainji, the CAS held an interactive session
with the officers, airmen and airwomen, where he urged
them to remain disciplined and unwavering in their
commitment to duty. He also advised them to always be
security conscious whilst contributing their quota towards
ensuring that the NAF ‘enhances and sustains critical
airpower capabilities required for joint force employment in
pursuit of national security imperatives. The CAS also
entertained questions and received feedback as well as
suggestions from the personnel on how to move the
Service forward for more effective and efficient service
delivery.
In Gombe, the CAS was received on arrival by the Deputy
Governor of the State, Dr Manasseh Daniel Jatau, and the
Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim
Abubakar Njodi, amongst other State Government Officials;
after which he proceeded to inspect ongoing infrastructural
development at 109 CRG, including the Taxiways, Apron,
Aircraft Shelters, Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI), Ammunition
Dump, Access Roads as well as Office and Residential
Accommodations.
Speaking after the inspection of the facilities, the CAS, while
thanking the Gombe State Government for not only
allocating the 230 Hectares and providing other forms of
support towards the speedy establishment of 109 CRG,
noted that much still needed to be done to make the Base
ready to receive the UCAVs, which he said would soon be
arriving the Country. He remarked that, aside the currently
completed and other ongoing projects, there was need for
the NAF and Gombe State Government to jointly work
towards connecting the Base to the national grid whilst
also commencing work on the construction of the access
road to the Base.
In his remarks, the Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr
Manasseh Jatau, expressed extreme delight at the speed
at which the NAF was developing facilities at NAF Base
Gombe, remarking that it was nothing short of
extraordinary. He equally expressed appreciation to the
NAF for the medical outreach conducted for host
communities in the Akko-Gona Emirate area of the State in
October 2020, barely 2 months after the establishment and
groundbreaking ceremony of the NAF Unit. He noted that
the outreach benefitted members of the affected
communities immensely and pledged that the State
Government, on its part, would continue to do its best to
support the NAF towards the ultimate goal of improving
security in the State and indeed the entire North East.
The CAS, who was accompanied on the visit by some
Branch Chiefs and Directors from Headquarters NAF, has
returned to Abuja.

JUST IN: Boko Haram Terrorists Free Borno Pastor Bulus On Expiration Of Seven-Deadline Given To Him.,,,,,,Yakuru was freed on Wednesday and was conveyed by operatives of the Department of State Services around 6.15pm today.

The Boko Haram terrorists have freed Pastor Bulus Yikura who was abducted on December 24, 2020, and was given a seven-day deadline last week to be killed.

Yakuru was freed on Wednesday and was conveyed by operatives of the Department of State Services around 6.15pm and sighted by a Premium Times reporter.

On Wednesday, when he was asked to speak about his freedom, Mr Bulus kept repeating, “I thank God, I thank God.”

SaharaReporters had on Sunday reported that the Chibok community in Borno State including residents, family and church members of the pastor contributed money as a ransom to meet Boko Haram factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, to secure the life of the pastor.

Top elders in Chibok had confirmed to SaharaReporters that Pastor Bulus was married with three children, and his wife was depressed and desperately hoping her husband was not killed by the Boko Haram terrorists.

Last Wednesday, the pastor had cried out from a video sent by the Boko Haram to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Borno State government, and the Christian Association of Nigeria from the terrorists’ den, begging that he had been given one week to live.

Bulus had said he was in pain and would like to be reunited with his family members, church and relatives.

The Boko Haram struck Pemi village in Borno, only about 20 kilometres from Chibok, on December 24, 2020, during which the pastor was taken away.

A Chibok top community elder told SaharaReporters that some money had been raised by all of the stakeholders as a ransom, and they were planning to meet Shekau’s men to deliver it in exchange for Bulus' life.

“Today is the last day I will have the opportunity to call on you in your capacity as my parents and relatives in the country. Anyone who has the intention should help and save me. Please release me from this pain,” Bulus had stated in the video released by Boko Haram last Wednesday.

UPDATE ON DIKWA

Nigerian Troops retake Dikwa town & rescued some of the NGOs who hide themselves in some of the bunkers during the attack. Rescued workers were later escorted to Maiduguri. Intel revealed the insurgents speaks good English + wearing military uniforms with ranks.
Sadly during the attack on Dikwa town, part of Emir of Dikwa Palace, hospital, & all the Police stations were reportedly razed down by the insurgents. I learnt about the ongoing efforts to ascertain the status of 7 NGO workers are still not being accounted for this evening.

UPDATE ON BOKO HARAM NIGHT ATTACK AND TAKE OVER OF DIKWA

After Boko Haram took over Dikwa, our troops retreated to Ajiri. Ajiri is under Mafa Local government area of Borno State, 20 kilometers away. Latest report is that the terror group has begun to withdraw from Dikwa.
Last Thursday Governor Umara Zulum was in Dikwa where he distributed food items as well as cash to the tune of N100m.
TROOPS FOIL BOKO HARAM ATTEMPTS TO INFILTRATE DIKWA TOWN

The troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE have decisively routed elements of Boko Haram Terrorists and their Islamic State of West Africa Province(ISWAP) counterpart who attempted to infiltrate and attack Dikwa town in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorist groups who stormed the town in an unconfirmed number of gun trucks and motorcycles were visited with heavy bombardment and overwhelming firepower by troops of 81 Task Force Battalion with reinforcement from other formations of the Nigerian Army and aided by air support of Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE.

The terrorists attempted to invade the town to loot food items and other logistics having got wind of the recent food distribution to residents of the town by the state governor, Professor Babagana Zulum.

They came in their droves through the Marte axis but could not gain access to the town due to the combat readiness of troops who were positioned there.

The terrorists subsequently lost initiative as they were cut off completely following the recent successful recapture of Marte town by the gallant troops.
In desperation and to scare off residents from returning to their homes, they planted series of landmines on the roads which were also detected and successfully detonated by troops.

Consequently, the Army Headquarters wishes to debunk the unsubstantiated reports on social media suggesting that the terrorists attacked UN Base in BORNO, trapping 25 Aid Workers as published by some outlets.

Those false and sensational reports are clearly aimed at stirring up tension in the region and diminishing the glaring efforts and sacrifices of the Nigerian military in the fight against insurgency.

The COAS, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, has commended the efforts of the gallant troops' and the prompt response of the Air Task Force in providing air interdictions throughout the operation.
You are pleased requested to disseminate this report through your medium.
