These guys are attacking both towns Ngala and Gamboru same time. This is the first time a twin attack on both close towns is happening.

These ISWAP guys are becoming more motivated.

May God keep all my guys there safe.

Re: NORICO UNDER FIRE FOR SUPPLYING INFERIOR ARMOURED VEHICLES TO NIGERIA

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a story with the referenced headline which was authored by one Ekene Lionel and published in AfricanMilitary blog on the 19th of March, 2021.

Let it be known that the entirety of the said story is the figment of imagination of the author as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, did not at any time or in any event make any comment nor had any interview on the subject either with the author or anybody for that matter.

The story is therefore false, misleading and a deliberate fabrication ostensibly published to serve a yet to be determined motive. Whatever the motive is, we consider this publication as not only unprofessional but very unfair to the Chief of Army Staff.

We therefore demand from the publishers of African military blog, immediate retraction of the concocted story as it runs against the grain of professional journalism to willfully and wrongfully attribute a story to an unsuspecting party.

Even as the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru recognizes and appreciates the indispensability of partnership with the media in the quest for a secured, peaceful and progressive Nigeria, it is advisable that professionalism must guide the conduct of media practitioners.

Thank you.

Thanks for your analysis bro.... Exactly my point, we need to see the army standardize basic things at this point.

Bro, "Do you think the army was unfortunate in funding or they were pretty unfortunately plagued by a corrupt adminstration compared to the Airforce".

Bro, I believe if the Airforce fmr CAS didn't do so much we wouldn't have known the airforce had so much resources at their disposal. All we lack is good leadership, I might be wrong and stand to be corrected.
Honestly I'll say the army is not fortunate, becoming the COAS when there is a lot of security challenges is not easy.
And also the air force is also lucky to have a very exceptional chief. Its a case of vice-versa !

TROOPS BURST KIDNAP SYNDICATE, KILL SCORES OF BANDITS IN ZAMFARA STATE, RESCUE ABDUCTED VICTIMS IN KADUNA STATE

Following a credible tip-off, Troops of Sector 3 Operation HADARIN DAJI on Tuesday stormed Kabasa village in Magami Local Government of Zamfara State where armed bandits were attacking locals.

The timely arrival of troops forestalled a deadly kidnap and plundering operations by armed bandits which was underway. They were swiftly engaged by troops who successfully neutralized scores while others escaped into the forest with bullet wounds. Unfortunately one soldier paid the supreme sacrifice and three others who sustained various degrees of injuries during the encounter are currently receiving medical treatment.

Troops have dominated the general area with aggressive patrols and have continued further exploitation and pursuit of the bandits into the forest.

Similarly, on the same day, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI responded to a distress call that armed bandits were attacking Gidan Goga village in Maradun LGA of Zamfara state. Troops swiftly mobilized to the area and engaged the bandits with superior fire power, killing 3 while others fled in disarray, some with gunshot wounds.

In another development, troops conducting fighting patrol rescued 2 female kidnapped victims in Birnin Gwari area. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were kidnapped 22 days ago from Kuyallo village Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna state. The victims have been given medical treatment while waiting to be reunited with their families.

The Chief of Army Staff have already congratulated the gallant troops while charging them to keep up the momentum until the entire North West zone is rid of armed bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and sundry violent crimes. He also thanked the villagers for the credible and timely information they provided the troops which made their operations successful. The COAS said the patriotic action of the villagers who saw something and reported to the troops should be emulated by others so that the activities of bandits will be nipped in the bud.

Do our military officers sit and talk? Do they map out difficulties in each AOR and seek ways forward?

I have series of questions but I would throw one forward, "Why is the use of NVG's and drones not been standardized for base protection especially with the threats of imminent attacks from Bht's and ISWAP?".

As a matter of urgency, I believe every base; not only that of the Northeast be reenforced throughout the country. Rightnow as it stands, nightvision goggles, atleast one or two drones depending on how big these bases are and artillery support for defence are needed urgently for base defence. I fear IPOB might start attacking Army bases soon the East as policemen are been maimed and killed right now, we need to show our gallant heros the government cares about their lives.
Atm, we are on the Northeast issue so back to the topic.

Now let's imagine, each base is divided into sectors according to their landmass(let's take for instance four corners) and given coded names to identify each corner/area so soilders know which corner is under more attack and which one needs more firepower to relinquish the attackers.

Every evening most especially with hints of a pending attack on the base, a drone should be flown to provide real-time reconnaissance providing real time Intel on enemy advance and coordination, about 5 to 10 soldiers mounting night qtrs guards around the base should be equipped with night-vision goggles and communication gears. They should be spread across each corner of the base or at observatory post to spot and quickly channel coordinates for artillery fire(mortals) if need be. This should be a standard base defence in the Northeast.
From the video above, it would bring to a quick halt attacks on bases.

This is my humble idea aimed at protecting bases from night time attacks, it stands to be modified.
This is what I expect the top brass to sit and figure out ways of dealing with such consistent and relentless attacks on bases
Nice question you've asked here and at the same time a million dollar one grin

Let's start from the first question you've asked about AOR in our supercams, F.OB or a community secured by the military of course we have such structure in place, where every men is allocated to defferent sectors to operate. But has you rightly said we need state of the heart equipment to carry out these job effectively.
That's leads us to standardization of tools or equipment like NVG, drones and ground radar etc . except for quodcaptor droned that I know every super camps has and been standardized, tools like NVGs are not been used. We are still doing things the old fashion way.
You made mention of mortars which is very effevtive and deadly in the hands of very trained personnel. The US marines loves the mortar, because its light and tactical and very deployable, that's are plantoon/companies artellery. The mortar is very inffective that it can be used to cut off or push advancing enemies in an AOR where the attack is heavy pending the time air support arrives.
Now another problem the army is facing is funding, I must confess the army is not lucky as the air force under these regime, look at the current procurement of equipment numbers we acquired, the government tried but they can do more better. We have been shouting for years that the MRAP should be standardised for every troops in the N.E., how much will it cost us to get fairly used ones from the united states and BTR from Russia in large quantities.
I magine soldiers defending bases without modern optical device to easily spot advancing enemies.
I really support your view on the use of mortars to defend AOR, it's an area we should look into and develope, they're cheap and easy to use.

HOW TROOPS RESCUED KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KADUNA

Troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, on Wednesday 17 March, 2021, successfully rescued 10 persons who were recently kidnapped from their quarters at Kaduna International Airport. The rescue operation was without any mishap or casualty.

The rescue operation happened when the troops who were patrolling one of the forests in Kaduna came in contact with the kidnappers and their victims. On sighting the soldiers, the bandits opened fire, prompting the troops to decisively engage them. With a superior fire power, troops soon overwhelmed them and they were forced to abandon their victims and take to their heels.

The victims comprising one man, three women and six children were immeadiately evacuated to a military facility where they are currently undergoing medical check.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallan Nasir El-Rufai, while visiting the rescued victims, commended the Nigerian Army for a spectacular job. He also consoled the victims for the trauma they went through in the hands of their abductors.

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi, also commended the troops while restating the Chief of Army Staff's warning that the days of kidnappers and bandits are over as the Nigerian Army is determined more than ever to put a final stop to their nefarious activities anywhere in the country.

It would be rcalled that the victims were abducted on 6 March 2021 following an invasion of the living quarters of workers of Kaduna International Airport by kidnappers.

The sustained offensive onslaught on Boko Haram terrorists and their ISWAP ilk by the Nigerian Army has continued to gain traction as troops of 81Task Force Battalion in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force and Vigilante on the evening of Monday, 15 March 2021 neutralized more terrorists in Dikwa axis, Borno State.

In an aggressive fighting patrol and concealed picketing conducted by troops in continuation of the ongoing subsidiary Operation in the Theatre of Operation LAFIYA DOLE code named operation "TURA TAKAIBANGO", troops took out scores of Boko Haram fighters along Dikwa - Ajiri axis in Dikwa Local Government area of the state.

The troops on patrol came in contact with terrorists mounted on motor cycles and a gun truck, swiftly engaged them in a fierce firefight, killing 6 of them and recovered several weapons, ammunitions and sundry items. Items captured in the encounter includes 1 PKM, 2 AK 47 rifles, 1 FN rifle, 3 FN rifle magazines, 2 AK 47 rifle magazines, 36 rounds of 7.62mm NATO,19 rounds of 7.62mm special and 67 PKM linked rounds. Others include 2 motor cycles, 1 magazine pouch, 2 mobile handsets and a tube of adhesive solution.

Similarly, troops of Bravo Company while on similar routine perimeter patrol on the same 15 March, recovered a mobile handset phone suspected to been abandoned by the fleeing members of the terrorists who came under troops heavy fire during the attempt to infiltrate the camp on 14 March, 2021. The handset has been handed over to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for scrutiny.

In line with the directive of Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, troops will remain resolute and determined to ensure that the general area is completely cleared and protected while aggressively dominating every route where terrorists are suspected to move around in order to smoke them out.

CAS ASSURES GOV EL-RUFAI OF NAF’s READINESS TO COMBAT BANDITRY AS HE EMBARKS ON OPERATIONAL TOUR OF UNITS IN KADUNA

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, has assured the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, of the readiness of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to rid Kaduna State and the Nation of banditry and all other forms of criminality, working in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies. He made this commitment when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor, today, 17 March 2021, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

Speaking during the visit, Air Marshal Amao informed the Governor of President Mohammadu Buhari's marching order to the Service Chiefs to rid the entire Nation of all criminal elements, a task which, he said, the Services have sworn to execute expeditiously. While thanking the Governor for his support to the NAF in Kaduna State, he commended Governor El-Rufai for his monumental developmental strides as well as his zeal towards solving the security challenges in the State.

In his remarks, Governor El-Rufai thanked the CAS for the visit and singled out NAF personnel in Kaduna for their professionalism, dedication and particularly for their integrity in all dealings with the Kaduna State Government. He went further to state that, for a long time, Nigerians have taken peace and security for granted until the current spate of insecurity afflicting the Nation. He called on all Nigerians to appreciate and support the efforts of the military as they continue to make efforts to keep the Nation safe. According to him, "the security situation could have been worse but for the efforts of our Armed Forces".

The Governor also stated that he, along with Governors of the North West Zone, had agreed to assist the military, particularly in efforts at employing scientific measures towards containing insecurity. On the payment of ransom to kidnappers, the Governor reiterated the resolve of his Government not to pay any ransom to bandits and kidnappers, saying, "we will not pay a penny to any bandit'. He went further to state that despite the threats of kidnapping, schools would continue to remain open. According to him, the decision to keep schools open was taken so as not to allow criminals to dictate the education of children in the State. He also noted that the ability of the military to swiftly respond to kidnapping further gives the State the confidence to keep schools open.

Earlier on, the CAS had toured units in NAF Base Kaduna, where he was briefed on ongoing operations within Kaduna and the North West Zone. The CAS also held an interactive session with officers, airmen and airwomen of the Air Training Command (ATC) and co-located units in Kaduna, where he reiterated the need for jointness and cooperation with sister Services and other security agencies. According to him, "No real success can be achieved if we do not work together. We must also note that there are no individual trophies in the fight against insecurity". Personnel were also reminded to remain disciplined in the discharge of their duties while also assuring them of adequate measures to take care of all their welfare needs.

Present during the visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House were the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Mr Sam Aruwan, other senior government officials as well as Branch Heads from NAF headquarters and some Air Officers Commanding.

So peccavi said something about registering the number of gun trucks ISWAP captures and loses and I have decided to do a rough estimate.
So far this month, ISWAP reported capturing 14 NA&CJTF SUVs(most are guntrucks), 2 from Niger. While I can confirm that NA/NAF have destroyed/captured at least 7(number should be higher because of NAF mostly; they haven't been reporting much.
ISWAP captured 7 of the SUVs in the ambush operation outside of mongunno.
So basically ; ISWAP:14; NA:7
will need help to adjust the numbers.

I assume this is today and at least 2-3 guntrucks destroyed. Please help with the figure. Edakun.
We should be keeping track of some of these things ejhor.
