Air Marshal Abubakar issued this charge during his visit to the Air Component Headquarters of Operation Fansam Yamma in Katsina and Sokoto States. He commended the unwavering dedication of the troops in combating banditry and urged them to sustain the momentum, emphasizing that air power remains a decisive force in dismantling criminal strongholds and providing crucial support to ground troops in the ongoing counter-banditry campaign.

Recognizing the critical role of intelligence, logistics, and troop welfare in operational success, the CAS reassured personnel of continuous support in these areas. He emphasized that timely intelligence, well-maintained equipment, and high troop morale are fundamental to achieving lasting security in the region.

During his visit, the CAS conducted a first-hand assessment of operational aircraft and ongoing infrastructural projects. In Sokoto, he inspected newly constructed accommodation and other operational facilities, ensuring that personnel are adequately supported in their mission. Similarly, in Katsina, he evaluated key infrastructure projects, including a new hangar facility, accommodation, and a Base church, underscoring NAF’s commitment to the operational efficiency and well-being of its personnel.

The CAS' visit comes at a critical time as the NAF, in collaboration with other security agencies, intensifies efforts to dismantle bandit networks and restore security across the North-West region. His presence boosted troops’ morale and reinforced the strategic importance of sustained air operations in the fight against insurgency.

[/b]NAF UNLEASHES TORRENTS OF AIRSTRIKES ON TERRORISTS’ STRONGHOLDS IN CHIRALIA, GRAZAH, YUWE, AND ZANGO HILL[b]

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its relentless air operations, striking deep into terrorist strongholds across the North-East and North-West regions. In a series of decisive and precision-guided air interdiction missions between 17 and 19 March 2025, NAF aircraft obliterated fortified hideouts in Chiralia, Grazah, Yuwe, and Zango Hill, eliminating numerous fighters and crippling their operational networks.

On 17 March 2025, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) launched a devastating airstrike on Chiralia, a notorious terrorist enclave within the Timbuktu Triangle. Intelligence reports revealed that the insurgents had been orchestrating violent raids along the Maiduguri-Damaturu and Damaturu-Biu highways, abducting civilians and plundering supplies. In response, a formidable force package of NAF attack aircraft unleashed a precise and overwhelming assault, obliterating multiple enemy structures and eliminating terrorists desperately attempting to escape with follow-up strikes.

The following day, the NAF launched a devastating air interdiction operation at Grazah, a well-fortified terrorist hideout in the treacherous Mandara Mountains, and at Yuwe, a notorious insurgent stronghold in Sambisa Forest along the volatile Damboa-Bitta highway. At Grazah, intelligence reports exposed extremist leaders indoctrinating fighters, reinforcing the urgency of the strike. In a ferocious assault, [/b]NAF fighter jets unleashed a relentless barrage of precision strikes on key targets advancing purposeful lethality. Follow-up strikes intensified the offensive, obliterating fleeing terrorists at both locations and delivering a crushing blow to their operational networks[b]

In the North-West region, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) executed a relentless aerial assault in Zango Hill, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, in close coordination with ground forces. ISR missions uncovered armed bandits entrenched in the rugged high ground, triggering the swift deployment of NAF attack aircraft. [/b]The precision strikes pounded enemy positions, while follow-up bombardments targeted regrouping fighters attempting to evade destruction. NAF helicopters delivered decisive Close Air Support[b], raining fire on bandits engaging friendly forces, ensuring the unimpeded advance of ground troops. The operation annihilated multiple armed criminals and obliterated their fortified hideouts, further crippling their operational foothold.

The recent NAF airstrikes have significantly disrupted terrorist activities across multiple regions. Intelligence assessments indicate that the strikes not only neutralised several high-value targets but also destroyed critical infrastructure used by the terrorists for logistics and coordination. [/b]MNJTF TROOPS SECURE MAJOR TERRORIST SURRENDER IN DAMASAK, NIGERIA[b]

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad Region, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 3 Mongunu, have successfully facilitated the surrender of 7 suspected notorious Boko Haram terrorists with large cache of arms who have been active in the Damasak axis of Borno State, Nigeria.

The suspected Boko Haram terrorists identified as Mallam Baba Ibrahim (19), Malam Bamai Ali (20), Mallam Jundu Ali (19), Mallam Abba Ali (25), Mallam Abubakar Mohammed (20), Tijjani Ali (20 yrs) and Mallam Ali Mommudu (25). They voluntarily turned themselves in to MNJTF troops at Walada village in Damasak after sustained offensive operation by own troops

The suspected terrorists confessed to have been involved in numerous terrorist activities across Northern Borno and expressed their exhaustion with the conflict, though they previously feared they will be killed if they surrendered.

The substantial arm cache and equipment surrendered by the suspected terrorists included 2 RPG tubes, 4 RPG bombs, an AK-47 rifle, an HK 21 German machine gun, and 8 empty magazines. Additionally, they handed over 2 horses, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 715 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 51 NATO rounds, 12 mobile phones, 6 small solar panels, 2 bandoliers, and 4 knives, among other items. The former insurgents are now providing valuable intelligence to the MNJTF.

The MNJTF wishes to encourage other terrorists to take this opportunity to surrender as laying down arms is a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the Lake Chad Region. The MNJTF remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring stability throughout the area.

[/b]TROOPS RESCUE 101 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN KATSINA, ZAMFARA STATES; NEUTRALISE 10 TERRORISTS[b]

Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 101 kidnapped victims across Kankara in Katsina State and Shinkafi in Zamfara State on 17 and 18 March 2025. During this operation, a total of 10 terrorists were neutralised during an encounter in the Faru District of Maradun LGA.

The operation began in Katsina State, where troops conducted a deliberate assault on a terrorists' enclave at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara LGA. This resulted in the neutralisation of 3 terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped individuals. The victims were subsequently handed over to Local Government authorities for further action.

Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops acted on information regarding terrorist activities in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA. This led to the neutralisation of 7 terrorists and the recovery of a motorcycle, among other items. Additionally, 17 captives, who had been abducted by a terrorist kingpin, were successfully rescued from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA, they are currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains steadfast in its mandate to ensure the security and safety of the communities in Katsina and Zamfara States. The operation continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and supportive of its efforts, emphasising that community cooperation is vital for ongoing success in the fight against terrorism in the region.

In a bold demonstration of air power and precision night warfare capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed a devastating nocturnal airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa on 16 March 2025. The night operation targeted insurgent enclaves deep within the treacherous Mandara Mountains, delivering a crippling blow to the terrorists' stronghold and disrupting their activities.

Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data, reports indicated that the notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters had planned a high-level engagement at the location. ISR missions over the area confirmed terrorist activity at a key assembly point in Degbewa, alongside the presence of heavily fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations - clear evidence of an active command hub. Following this intelligence, the NAF immediately launched a precision night strike under the cover of darkness, achieving complete surprise. The coordinated firepower extensively destroyed the terrorists' logistics and command centre, igniting large fires that obliterated multiple structures and eliminated scores of terrorists in their hideouts. “Through the purchase of the AH-64E Apache helicopters, Morocco has made a significant step in investing in their future, gained a cutting-edge capability, and provided the Royal Moroccan Air Force with a critical tool that will empower them to further security goals in the region,” said Gen. The Nigerian Army has received with heavy heart, but in absolute submission to the divine will of Almighty God, the news of the passing to glory of Major General Aderonke Kale rtd CFR mni, on Wednesday 8 November 2023. The shining Veteran of the Nigerian Army exuded unequalled commitment, diligence and unquestionable loyalty which paved the way, as she steadily rose through the ranks to become the first female officer of the Nigerian Army to attain the enviable height of Major General.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, while expressing his commiserations on behalf of Officers, Soldiers and Civilian staff of the Nigerian Army, to the family, relations and friends of the deceased Senior Officer, described her demise as a great loss to the Nigerian Army and the military community as a whole. He added, that her legacies in the selfless service to Nigeria and humanity will remain indelible in the hearts of many. Gen Lagbaja prayed for the repose of her soul and the fortitude for the family to bear the irreplaceable loss.
General Aderonke Kale, renowned for reshaping the face of women and gender mainstreaming in the Nigerian military, was born into a family of professionals, her father was a pharmacist, and her mother a teacher. She has her primary education in Lagos and Zaria, and had her post primary education in St. Anne’s School, Ibadan and Abeokuta Grammar School respectively. She opted to study Medicine and successfully gained admission into the University College, which later became University of Ibadan. After her graduation as a medical doctor, she proceeded to the University of London to specialize in Psychiatry.
General Kale worked briefly in Britain and returned to Nigeria in the year 1971 to join the Nigerian Army in 1972. Her competence as a psychiatrist was recognized in 1973, when she qualified as a Consultant Psychiatrist and in 1982 she became Chief Consultant. In the course of her service from 1980 to 1985 her management acumen came to bear in her career, when she became the Commanding Officer of the Military Hospital Ibadan. She thus had the distinction of being the first woman to command a military hospital in Nigeria. In 1985 to 1987, she performed the same feat in the Military Hospital, Enugu, and from 1989 to 1990 in the Military Hospital, Benin. With such vital experience, she was elevated to the position of Deputy Commandant, Nigerian Army Medical Corps and School in 1991 till 1994.
In 1994, she became the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army and the West African subregion. She finally attained the peak of her career, when she became the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps. First time in the history of the Nigerian Army, that a female officer was entrusted with the crucial responsibility of health care for all Nigerian Army personnel and their families.

Nigerian Troops repel ISWAP attacks in Damboa and Malam Fatori, recover 6 explosives

The Nigerian troops of 25 Brigade  have repelled an attack by the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno.

It was gathered that the terrorists launched a probing attack at the troops along Damboa - Azir road. The troops swiftly repelled the attack and forced the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter- Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad Region, that “Though the terrorists were repelled, and their mission thwarted after a brutal gunfire, I cannot give the actual number of casualties they could have suffered.

He said that the troops also chased the terrorists through  their escape route  but no further contact was made.

In the same vein, the troops of 68 Battalion Mallam Fatori while conducting a fighting patrol around KUDANKURGU general area located about 3 kilometers South of Mallam Fatori in Abadam LGA, came in contact with unconfirmed numbers of ISWAP terrorists.

The attack was successfully repelled,  forcing the terrorists to withdraw.  exploitation conducted in the general area led to the discovery of 6  bombs belonging to the terrorists.

PERSONNEL FITNESS: NIGERIAN AIR FORCE CONDUCTS 2023 ANNUAL 10KM WALK/JOG

As part of efforts geared towards ensuring a high level of physical fitness and mental alertness for operational readiness and effectiveness, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted the year 2023 Annual 10km Walk/Jog for its personnel in Abuja and other units across the country. In his remarks after the exercise in Abuja, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar commended the participants for showcasing high level of fitness noting that the citizens depend on the members of the Armed Forces for their safety of lives and properties which cannot be achieved without physical fitness and mental alertness. The CAS emphasized that sporting events like the 10 Km Walk/Jog was also aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence amongst personnel and their families as well as, serve as an avenue for discovering new talents for the upcoming 2024 Armed Forces Games.

While highlighting the importance of regular exercises to keep fit, the CAS stated that it essential for military personnel as it prepares them for occupational demand of roles. According to the CAS, “whether being deployed in an operating theatre or undertaking routine tasks, we are expected to always maintain a high level of physical and mental readiness. As airmen and airwomen, the success of the NAF directly reflects on our skills and competence which are also tied to our physical, mental and intellectual wellbeing, which is critical to attaining our overall objective.”

Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar reminded the personnel about the prevalent security challenges facing the nation, while noting that the concerted efforts of the NAF alongside other security agencies would ensure that all forms of criminality and the criminals' freedom of movement are reduce to the barest minimum. The CAS disclosed that through the commitment of the Federal Government, the NAF has witness a total overhaul and enhancement of its [/b]Order of Battle, recalling that about 2 weeks ago, the Service took delivery of 2 additional DA-62 surveillance aircraft and only 2 days ago, also received 2 T-129 ATAK helicopters soon to be inducted into the inventory of the NAF[b]. Air Marshal Abubakar assured that with the additional platforms and others being expected in no time, as well as the renewed vigour of the NAF under his leadership, Nigerians can be rest assured of the commitment of the NAF to ensuring total eradication of the myriads of security challenges facing the nation.

The CAS also used the occasion to congratulate the NAF volleyball male and female teams in the Nigerian National Volleyball League who recently gained promotion to the elite Division One and Premiere League respectively. He specifically single out the exceptional performances of 2 Air Craft Women, Bulus Faith and Abba A, who both distinguished themselves during the Nigerian National Volleyball League Division One as the best spiker and best server respectively. He also commended NAF personnel who were selected to participate in the World Military Wrestling Game at Azerbaijan 2023, as well as NAF Football Team playing in the Nigerian National League and Female Basketball Team that qualified to represent Armed Forces of Nigeria in the World Military Games. According to him, “These efforts are indicative of the commitment of our personnel to continue to stand out in sporting activities while also making the NAF proud. It is also an indication of our commitment to providing the enabling environment for sporting activities to thrive in our various Bases”.

OPSH TROOPS BUST ANOTHER ILLEGAL WEAPON MANUFACTURING FACTORY, RECOVER OVER 20 CACHE OF AUTOMATIC WEAPONS, ARREST 2 PERSONS

In a major breakthrough, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have successfully uncovered and dismantled an illegal weapon manufacturing factory in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation which was based on actionable intelligence, marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts of OPSH to combat illicit arms proliferation and ensure the safety and security of the state and environs.

The discovery of the weapon factory was also, the result of a meticulously executed intelligence-led operation conducted by the troops leading to the substantial recovery of cache of automatic weapons and related equipment that were being produced and distributed to other states thereby fuelling crisis on the Plateau and in Southern Kaduna. The recovered items include 6 AK-47 rifles, 4 sub-machine guns, 11 AK rifle bodies, a pistol and 7 x AK 47 bridge blocks. Others include 4 x AK 47 rifle magazines, 210 recoil springs for AK 47 rifles, 7 rifle butts, 8 rifle muzzles, 9 piston assemblies as well as 5 cartridge housings. Also recovered were one drilling machine set, and a hand filling machine. In addition to the seizure of the weapons and weapon fabricating equipment, two individuals directly involved in the weapon proliferation and marketing process, Micheal Dung 33 years and Yusuf Pam 43 years were both apprehended.

The leadership of OPSH working in close coordination with law enforcement agencies, will continue to ensure those responsible for perpetuating criminal activities and their collaborators face the full wrath of the law. These arrests sends a clear message that illegal arms production and trafficking will not be tolerated and anybody involved will be held accountable for their actions.

The successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of OPSH to rid the Joint Operations Area of illegal arms and dismantle criminal networks involved in illegal weapon manufacturing and distribution in line with the mandate given to troops during the launch of Operations HAKORIN DAMISA IV by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja.The recovery of such a significant number of firearms and related equipment will undoubtedly disrupt the activities of criminal elements and contribute to the overall security and stability of Plateau State and indeed the entire nation which remains the primary focus of the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen CG Musa.

The GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar, while commending the troops' resilience, expresses his gratitude to the community for their continued support and cooperation in providing valuable information that has aided the fight against criminal activities. The collaboration between the military and the public is crucial in ensuring the success of operations aimed at maintaining peace and security in Plateau State and by extension Nigeria.

The Nigerian Airforce have confirmed the obliteration of terrorists at Degbawa in Mandara Mountain, and released photos of the strikes.

Precision air strikes by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on 2 November 2023, have led to the elimination of several terrorists at their meeting point near Degbawa, a reclusive location within the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The air strikes were called for after intelligence revealed the sighting of some key terrorists’ figures and their foot soldiers arriving the location in the last 2 days for a probable meeting. Their gathering in large number yesterday afternoon near Degbawa raised concerns, thus necessitating the need for an air interdiction on the location with devastating outcome for the terrorists. An assessment of the location after the strike revealed a large number of terrorists were indeed eliminated.

According to several sources, this particular location was carefully chosen by the terrorists to evade being easily detected especially by NAF aircraft. The outcome of the strike however proved the terrorists wrong as their nefarious plans to meet was detected, thus leading to the success of the air strike. The sources also noted that this strike was a major set back for the terrorists who have, of late, been at the receiving end of the air and land components of OPHK. Another source also noted that these terrorists were responsible for the recent attack on some locals in Geidam and had planned to meet to review the attack as well as plan the next line of attack on innocent civilians and other vulnerable targets.

When contacted, NAF spokesperson and Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the attack at Degbawa and reassured Nigerians that the NAF will continue to go after these terrorists until they lay down their arms or are eliminated.

Ammo storage? Bros, ammo is not stored on the outside of a tank. Folks on Twitter are saying that the first RPG was to disable the APS and the second was to enforce a mobility kill on the tank. I agree with their analysis.

Part of the Markeva MBT ammo is stored at the rear and it was indicated in the video, the explosion only just needs the ammo stored at the rear to cook-up and boom.
the 3rd picture is not a recent one; its one of the two Mrkeva MBT lost during the 2nd Lebanon war, similar thing happened. there was a hit at the rear that set up the ammo.

I don't think it was abandoned. And no, it wasn't knocked out because there was no obvious damage.

They put an RPG on the tank to disable its APS. And then fired a tandem warhead Yasin to damage the tank. It wasn't destroyed.

The RPG warhead was placed beside the Amno storage, I doubt if that tank would survive that.

I watched the video yesterday night and was hella confused. It was this morning that someone explained to me that the first RPG put on the tank was meant to disable the Trophy APS. The second RPG was then fired for a mobility/mission kill. That's rather ingenious but dangerous.

As for the IDF losing large numbers, it probably had to do with their lack of recent wars. In 2006 when the Party of Good took hostages and triggered a war, the IDF were beaten silly. That was because the most experience their soldiers had was beating or shooting unarmed Palestinians. But after that war, they went back to the drawing board and got their shit together. But since then, the IDF has not faced the kind of opposition that the Party of God gave them in 2006 and their expertise and awareness has atrophied and some on Twitter now call them TikTok soldiers . Plus they don't regard Palestinian as humans and that leads makes them discount their skills and intelligence.
Dunno how this will play out, but it is not good.

Edit 1: I forgot to add the impact of new tech. Drones are now premier and the war in Ukraine has shown how even the simplest drones can disable or kill armored vehicles, or fvck up troops. Hamas has learned lessons from that war and is applying them.
