DISCLAIMER Re: NORICO UNDER FIRE FOR SUPPLYING INFERIOR ARMOURED VEHICLES TO NIGERIA The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a story with the referenced headline which was authored by one Ekene Lionel and published in AfricanMilitary blog on the 19th of March, 2021. Let it be known that the entirety of the said story is the figment of imagination of the author as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, did not at any time or in any event make any comment nor had any interview on the subject either with the author or anybody for that matter. The story is therefore false, misleading and a deliberate fabrication ostensibly published to serve a yet to be determined motive. Whatever the motive is, we consider this publication as not only unprofessional but very unfair to the Chief of Army Staff. We therefore demand from the publishers of African military blog, immediate retraction of the concocted story as it runs against the grain of professional journalism to willfully and wrongfully attribute a story to an unsuspecting party. Even as the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru recognizes and appreciates the indispensability of partnership with the media in the quest for a secured, peaceful and progressive Nigeria, it is advisable that professionalism must guide the conduct of media practitioners. Thank you. Mohammed Yerima Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations 20 March, 2021

cutievik:Nice question you've asked here and at the same time a million dollar one ![]() Let's start from the first question you've asked about AOR in our supercams, F.OB or a community secured by the military of course we have such structure in place, where every men is allocated to defferent sectors to operate. But has you rightly said we need state of the heart equipment to carry out these job effectively. That's leads us to standardization of tools or equipment like NVG, drones and ground radar etc . except for quodcaptor droned that I know every super camps has and been standardized, tools like NVGs are not been used. We are still doing things the old fashion way. You made mention of mortars which is very effevtive and deadly in the hands of very trained personnel. The US marines loves the mortar, because its light and tactical and very deployable, that's are plantoon/companies artellery. The mortar is very inffective that it can be used to cut off or push advancing enemies in an AOR where the attack is heavy pending the time air support arrives. Now another problem the army is facing is funding, I must confess the army is not lucky as the air force under these regime, look at the current procurement of equipment numbers we acquired, the government tried but they can do more better. We have been shouting for years that the MRAP should be standardised for every troops in the N.E., how much will it cost us to get fairly used ones from the united states and BTR from Russia in large quantities. I magine soldiers defending bases without modern optical device to easily spot advancing enemies. I really support your view on the use of mortars to defend AOR, it's an area we should look into and develope, they're cheap and easy to use. |

CAS ASSURES GOV EL-RUFAI OF NAF’s READINESS TO COMBAT BANDITRY AS HE EMBARKS ON OPERATIONAL TOUR OF UNITS IN KADUNA The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, has assured the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, of the readiness of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to rid Kaduna State and the Nation of banditry and all other forms of criminality, working in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies. He made this commitment when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor, today, 17 March 2021, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. Speaking during the visit, Air Marshal Amao informed the Governor of President Mohammadu Buhari's marching order to the Service Chiefs to rid the entire Nation of all criminal elements, a task which, he said, the Services have sworn to execute expeditiously. While thanking the Governor for his support to the NAF in Kaduna State, he commended Governor El-Rufai for his monumental developmental strides as well as his zeal towards solving the security challenges in the State. In his remarks, Governor El-Rufai thanked the CAS for the visit and singled out NAF personnel in Kaduna for their professionalism, dedication and particularly for their integrity in all dealings with the Kaduna State Government. He went further to state that, for a long time, Nigerians have taken peace and security for granted until the current spate of insecurity afflicting the Nation. He called on all Nigerians to appreciate and support the efforts of the military as they continue to make efforts to keep the Nation safe. According to him, "the security situation could have been worse but for the efforts of our Armed Forces". The Governor also stated that he, along with Governors of the North West Zone, had agreed to assist the military, particularly in efforts at employing scientific measures towards containing insecurity. On the payment of ransom to kidnappers, the Governor reiterated the resolve of his Government not to pay any ransom to bandits and kidnappers, saying, "we will not pay a penny to any bandit'. He went further to state that despite the threats of kidnapping, schools would continue to remain open. According to him, the decision to keep schools open was taken so as not to allow criminals to dictate the education of children in the State. He also noted that the ability of the military to swiftly respond to kidnapping further gives the State the confidence to keep schools open. Earlier on, the CAS had toured units in NAF Base Kaduna, where he was briefed on ongoing operations within Kaduna and the North West Zone. The CAS also held an interactive session with officers, airmen and airwomen of the Air Training Command (ATC) and co-located units in Kaduna, where he reiterated the need for jointness and cooperation with sister Services and other security agencies. According to him, "No real success can be achieved if we do not work together. We must also note that there are no individual trophies in the fight against insecurity". Personnel were also reminded to remain disciplined in the discharge of their duties while also assuring them of adequate measures to take care of all their welfare needs. Present during the visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House were the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Mr Sam Aruwan, other senior government officials as well as Branch Heads from NAF headquarters and some Air Officers Commanding.
