NIGERIAN AIR FORCE AIRLIFTS NIGERIAN ARMY, NAVY TROOPS IN SUPPORT OF ECOWAS MISSION IN GAMBIA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on, 25 March 2018, airlifted Nigerian Army (NA) and Nigerian Navy (NN) contingents to The Gambia in pursuance of the ongoing ECOWAS Mission in Gambia (ECOMIG). The troops who were airlifted by the NAF C-130 Hercules Aircraft included officers, soldiers and ratings from 351 Artillery Regiment NA as well as from the Special Boat Services of the NN. The troops and other equipment deployed for the operation were airlifted from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja to Banjul in The Gambia. The NAF aircraft is also expected to recover home the Nigerian contingent that had completed their 6 months tour of duty in The Gambia as stipulated for troop’s rotation in the ECOMIG Operation.

It would be recalled that the NAF was the first to deploy to The Gambia in January 2017 as part of the standby force tasked by ECOWAS Heads of State to enforce the December 1, 2016 election mandate, which restored Adama Barrow as President. The NAF deployed 200 men and air assets comprising fighter jets, transport aircraft, light utility helicopters as well as Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms. The NAF’s timely intervention served as deterrence to the former President Yahya Jammeh who then relinquished power on 21 January 2017 thus paving way for the restoration of democracy in the country.

PRESS RELEASE

RE: SERGEANT DAVID BAKO DESERTS NIGERIAN ARMY, LEAKS HOW DAPCHI GIRLS ABDUCTION WAS PLANNED IN THE VILLA AND EXECUTED WITH N80 MILLION

1. The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a news report making round on Facebook and other social media to smear and drag the Nigerian Army into politics of calumny by mischief makers, that one deserted Sergeant David Bako leaks how Dapchi Girls abduction was planned in the villa and executed with N80 million. The information was said to be provided by Sergeant David Bako who claimed to be deserted soldier and one of the abductee of the Dapchi School Girls. The Nigerian Army therefore put the record straight that it has crosscheck it records and cannot find any one call Sergeant David Bako who neither serves in the Army, deserted or dismissed. The Nigerian Army therefore disassociate itself with such fictitious report and request the public to disregard the confession made by the so call Sergeant David Bako who has not been in the Army at all.

2. It is imperative to know that these baseless and inane allegations are not new in the cyber space, knowing the fact that we are in the age of information warfare. Open Source Intelligence reveals that the website Dailyglobewatch.eu with country code top-level domain (ccTLD) .eu used in publishing stories is obviously fake and therefore not correct. Based on our findings the website was registered on the 14 of April 2017 and the last updated was on the same date and will expire on the 14th April 2018, we are very familiar with reports of this nature and will advice the general public to disregard such claim and desist from sharing such information on the New Media as this is against the Nigerian Cybercrime Act 2015.

3. However, it is really worrisome to the level at which some people could condescend so low to fabricate facetious allegation against the Nigerian Army and the military at large for cheap political gains or simply an act of pure wickedness, thus the public should disregard such facetious allegation.

4. The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate its commitment to remain apolitical and non-partisan in the discharge of its constitutional roles. We would also like to reaffirm our unconditional support and obedience to civil authority as well as reassuring Nigerians that these Fifth columnists will not succeed in their mischief as they will be fished out and dealt with accordingly.

5. You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public through your reputable medium.

6. Thank you for your kind cooperation.

jpphilips:

You raised some pertinent issues about Egypt and KSA.
First Trump has cancelled Egypt's military aid since last year so a tit for tat vote from Egypt is expected.
KSA is fighting a full scale war in Yemen, US is looking forward to sustaining that profit so it doesn't matter how KSA votes.
In our own case, we have on the table a one off deal and you think the smartest way to pull it off is voting against the US interest? Does it make any sense?

Fine, we may love Palestine for as long as we have a Sunni practicing CIC, but Boko haram is a priority that torpedoes religious sentiments, it is only the living that practise Islam.
Palestine has absolutely nothing to offer us, it is unwise to prioritize them above the US.
Seriously trump has cancelled Egypt military aide. Wow shocked am not aware... huh

Let's see if Egypt can maintain there military purchasing strength......... lipsrsealed

Niceee video.... I haven’t seen the super pumas in a while do you know why?
From what a airforce friend told me, some of these assets are intentionally put to rest, to reduce overhauling of engines .

Before the advent of the Mi17, the super puma where extensively used. And since we've lost an Mi17 we could be seeing more of the super puma now.
