Troops Neutralize 44 Terrorists, Inflict Heavy Casualties in Phase 2 of Operation TSAFTADAJI intensified in Zamfara

By: Zagazola Makama

In a major offensive under Operation FANSAN YANMA under the TSAFTADAJI III – Phase 2, Nigerian army troops have neutralized 44 terrorists and injured over 25 others in a coordinated assault across multiple fronts in Zamfara State.

The operation, which commenced on February 7, 2025, involved a three pronged attack targeting terrorist strongholds in Mashema general area, a notorious hub for armed bandits and insurgents.

The offensive was led by troops of 1Brigade Special Forces with close support from the Air Component of OPFY.

The offensive began at 0800 hours, with Team 1 advancing through several terrorist enclaves, clearing out fortified positions at Kashabawa, Bwarare, and Zaki before reaching Sakarawa Hill.

Upon arrival, troops encountered stiff resistance from terrorists who had established defensive positions on the hill. Intelligence intercepts revealed that the insurgents had planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the advance route. In response, troops executed a flanking maneuver to avoid the traps while engaging the enemy.

A decisive ground d and air assault was launched, from the Air Component of OPFY striking terrorist positions. Heavy casualties were inflicted on the insurgents.

Despite successfully eliminating several terrorists, troops were unable to fully exploit the high ground due to heavy mining at the foot of the hill. The Aggressor aircraft returned for a second aerial bombardment, targeting insurgents and neutralizing several of them.

An another operation, troops advancing towards Badarawa, encountered resistance but successfully cleared several terrorist pockets along their route.

Among the 44 terrorists eliminated in the battle were key commanders linked to notorious bandit leaders Bello Turji and Sani Black. The slain terrorist leaders include: Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta (formerly the deputy to Sani Black) Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru and Dan-Kane (son of Audu Jabbi)

Despite the intense fighting and IED threats, no casualties were recorded among the Nigerian troops.

Army Troops Neutralize Over 50 Terrorists, Capture Tungan Fulani Hills in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army Troops of Operation FANSAN
have achieved a major breakthrough in a series of encounter in the ongoing military campaign against banditry and terrorism in the North West of Zamfara State.

In one its Operation tagged FANSAR YAN BINDIGA, during a fierce battle, the troops neutralized over 50 terrorists and inflicted serious injuries on at least 25 others, including high-profile terror commanders loyal to Bello Turji and Sani Mai Nasara (Sani Black).

Among those killed were Kachallah Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, Dan-Gajere (son of Audu Jabbi), and Bako Malaika, a notorious terrorist operating around Tungan Dan Musa.

The successful assault marks the first time in years that Nigerian troops have been able to penetrate and dominate Tungan Fulani Hills, a location that had become one of the most dangerous terrorist fortresses in the Zurmi-Shinkafi axis

Zagazola Makama recalled that five previous attempts by troops to access the valley had failed due to stiff terrorist resistance, resulting in casualties among troops and damage to military equipment.

The area gained notoriety following a deadly ambush in 2019, when Bello Turji and Sani Black’s fighters killed a Major and 16 soldiers who were en route to rotate troops stationed in Mashema village. After that incident, the military was forced to withdraw from Mashema District, leaving the region under terrorist control.

Similarly, on Aug. 30, 2024, Turji and Sani Black’s fighters launched another devastating attack on troops at Kwashebawa village, where they burned Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and killed two soldiers.

Following the historic victory, Military Defense officials have vowed to sustain the offensive under the newly declared “Operation Show No Mercy. “The mission is not just to push the terrorists out but to ensure their complete elimination.

“The time for hiding is over. Bello Turji, Sani Black, and their fighters must either surrender unconditionally or face total annihilation. There will be no negotiations, no safe havens, and no escape routes,” the sources said.

The recent success is also significant because Tungan Fulani Hills serves as a key route for arms smuggling from Niger Republic and Mali, as report indicated that Turji and Sani Black had been using the hilly terrain to store weapons, plan ambushes, and conduct kidnappings along major roads. By securing the area, the Nigerian military has disrupted their supply chain and cut off their escape routes to neighboring forests.

Residents Urged to Support Security Operations

In the wake of the Tungan Fulani Hills offensive, security forces are calling on local communities to cooperate with intelligence operatives to help track down fleeing terrorists.

Military sources confirmed that troops have expanded their operations beyond Zamfara, targeting terrorist hideouts in neighboring states to prevent them from regrouping.

As Operation Show No Mercy intensifies, security agencies are urging communities to report suspicious movements and avoid providing logistics or shelter to fleeing bandits.

“The Nigerian Army, with support from the Air Force and other security agencies, is committed to eradicating terrorism in the North-West. The fight is far from over, but we have sent a strong message that there is no safe place for terrorists in Nigeria.

“This operation will not stop until every terrorist camp is destroyed, every leader is neutralized, and every fugitive is brought to justice. The choice is clear surrender now or face total destruction,” a top military sources said.

With the military’s renewed momentum, the coming weeks are expected to bring further decisive action against terrorist networks in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

Nigerian Troops Eliminate Notorious Bandit Leader Kachalla Na Faranshi in Zamfara

The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have have successfully neutralized a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Na Faranshi, along with several of his fighters during an aggressive raid in the forests of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Intelligence sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama on Friday that the terrorists was eliminated when they came in contact with the troops.

Kachalla Na Faranshi was a high-profile bandit leader originally from Shirgi village in Maradi, Niger Republic. Before venturing into armed criminality, he and his father were cattle traders. Over time, he became deeply involved in banditry and weapons smuggling.

His stronghold was located in the Dutsen Kura forest, southwest of Mashema in Zurmi Local Government Area.

He was known for smuggling illicit firearms from Mali and Niger, supplying weapons to various armed groups operating in Nigeria’s northwestern forests.

Na Faranshi had links with terrorist groups operating in Mali and was previously an ally of the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, before establishing his own criminal network.

On March 23, 2024, Kachalla Na Faranshi released a video displaying sophisticated weapons and a large number of fighters, issuing threats to attack Zurmi town in Zamfara State. His group was responsible for multiple attacks, kidnappings, and arms trafficking in the region.

During the recent operation in the forests of Zurmi, security forces engaged Na Faranshi and his men in a fierce gun battle, successfully eliminating him and many of his fighters.

The Nigerian military have continued to intensified operations in Zamfara and neighboring states to curb banditry and ensure peace in the entire Northwestern region.

Brig Gen AS Aliyu Makes History with Daring Parachute Jump

In a rare and awe-inspiring display of military courage and leadership, Brigadier General AS Aliyu etched his name in history today, successfully executing a parachute jump at Airborne Drop Zone, Jaji Military Cantonment. His daring feat is reminiscent of the historic jump by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen KTJ Minimah, reaffirming the time-honored tradition of leading from the front in the Nigerian Army.

The significance of Gen Aliyu’s achievement extends beyond personal bravery; it underscores his unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline, and the rigorous demands of military service. Unlike many senior officers who may choose to observe from a distance, Gen Aliyu opted to experience firsthand what young soldiers and cadets endure, a decision that has resonated deeply across military circles.

What makes this jump even more remarkable is that Gen Aliyu was not alone in his feat. he was joined by cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), many of whom were making their first parachute jumps. Their participation marks a pivotal moment in their transformation from cadets to future leaders of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

For these young officers, the experience was more than just an adrenaline rush; it was a lesson in courage, resilience, and leadership by example. Seeing a senior officer willingly share in the same challenges they face serves as a powerful reminder that true leadership is about action, not just instruction.

One of the cadets, speaking after the jump, expressed profound admiration for Gen Aliyu’s willingness to take part in such a physically and mentally demanding exercise.

“Watching him take that leap instilled a sense of pride and confidence in all of us. It showed that our leaders are not distant commanders but true warriors who lead from the front,” the cadet remarked.

The facts I have been able to glean from X, from first hand info, is that it was something of a fighting patrol that these terrorists tried to break off its offensives with suicide VBIEDs. It is from this VBIED we lost our men.

This particular operation helps me make sense of all the NAF airstrikes in Damboa, Mandara Mts and this particular Timbuktu in early January. They were probably interdictions in prep for ground troops.

So far, there is nothing i've seen from all the info I have piece together that indicates the NAF was "missing" when needed.

It was'nt an overrun base or an "ambush" really. It was a counter attack. And except air cover can be guaranteed to follow troops around like the sun, those deaths were unfortunate.
Major operations like that should be provided with sufficient and timely air assesses for our ground troops.

Troops Neutralize Bandit, Recover Arms in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralized a bandit and recovered a cache of arms following a raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on Feb. 2, was based on credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits, according to a statement by the Brigade.

On arrival at the hideout, the troops encountered resistance as the bandits opened fire. However, the soldiers overpowered them, leading to the neutralization of one bandit while 23 others, including 19 males and four females, surrendered.

A search of the camp led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, an English-made pistol, two locally fabricated guns, 28 cutlasses, 48 daggers and jack knives, and 16 motorcycles.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had paid a local chief in Amar village the sum of ₦1.5 million to establish their camp in the area.

The Commander, 6 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their efforts and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring security in Taraba and its environs.

“This operation is a testament to our resolve to eliminate criminal elements and prevent Taraba from becoming a safe haven for terrorists,” he said.

Bidexiii where did you get the FOB talk from?
Some sources claimed it was an F.O.B, anyways it doesn't justify us loosing brave officers and solders.

Some weeks ago I saw videos of slain NA soldiers covered in blankets on Facebook. I couldn't post or ask questions about it because i was unable to verify if the video was recent or old. Nevertheless not all fatalities are always reported.

There is much to be done, especially with the army, and I keep asking myself where is the NAF in all these !

Meanwhile men are dying. 22 men + 1 redneck in 1 day!!!

It is CRIMINAL and calls for a court martial of somebody.

Watching the Nigerian army throughout the 16 years of counterinsurgency, one of their weakest points is base defence

A reasonable army would get some of the best brains to fly in and have table top exercises and seminars on practical base defence tactics.
They would discuss with surrounding west, sahel & central region militaries on the similarity of attacks and implement changes to trainings in depot Nigeria, NDA , TRADOC.and most command and control centres.

Dont mind them.

When I talk now, the usual suspects will start mouthing off.

Same mistakes over and over again makes the military look incompetent.

How can a VBIED drive all the way straight into the middle of an FOB to explodehuh Where are the obstruction to prevent this? Aren't the FOBs mined to prevent approach?

Where is the aircover, fire support and QRF? U have multiple Tucanos, UAVs and helicopters which should have been scrambled as soon as news of the attack started.

Instead they leave an FOB to defend itself for 2 to 4 hours without coverhuh?

GROSS INVOMPETENCE.
One thing we should have learnt by now and until now there has not been changes and our red necks are not adapting rapidly.
They'll rather spent funds on Gucci head quarters etc. Our F.O.B are not well protected from threats like the deadly V.B.I.E.D. I mean what does it take to have well protected base with enough obstacles , trenches and Hesco Barrier etc.

One would asked, where is our airforce with all the findings they've enjoyed, this are times the ground soldiers needs them the most.

It was a battle fought with unyielding resolve. As the terrorists launched a massive assault, deploying a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) to breach the military’s defenses, the troops fought back fiercely.

The explosion shook the battlefield, but the soldiers held their ground, raining fire on the enemy with precision and determination. The terrorists were hard saying “Amaliya and scampering for safety after a bomb was lunched in their location, which killed some of them.

Lt. Col. Alari was no ordinary commander. He was a warrior, a leader who fought side by side with his men, never retreating, never faltering. Even as the battle raged and the odds stacked against them, he remained resolute, rallying his troops with unwavering bravery.

Like a Spartan in his final stand, he refused to yield. He fought until his last breath, ensuring that his men had done what they could to repel the terrorists before he fell in the heat of combat. His death was not in vain. His sacrifice, and that of his fellow soldiers, ensured that the terrorists suffered devastating losses.

Lt. Col. T.E. Alari, a Fearless Leader and Defender of the Nation

In the face of unparalleled danger, there are individuals who embody the true essence of courage, leadership, and sacrifice. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari was one such man a gallant officer who stood as a bulwark against terror, giving his life so others might live in peace.

The Commanding Officer of the 149 Battalion, Lt. Col. Alari, was a nightmare to insurgents. His resolute determination and strategic brilliance in combat had dealt devastating blows to the ranks of ISWAP, earning him a reputation as a fearless leader who did not shy away from leading from the front. His name struck fear into the hearts of terrorists, and his presence on the battlefield inspired confidence among his troops.

On Jan. 24, 2025, while leading an operation in the Timbuktu Triangle, a bastion of terrorist activity in Damboa, Lt. Col. Alari once again demonstrated the true essence of leadership. Under his command, the 149 Battalion had successfully disrupted insurgent strongholds, neutralizing scores of terrorists and forcing them into retreat. But in a desperate last ditch effort, ISWAP insurgents deployed a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) against his troops.

The VBIED was intercepted and destroyed by the troops, but the shrapnel from the explosion tragically took the lives of those closest to the blast, including Lt. Col. Alari, who, as always, was at the front, leading his men. Even in the face of certain death, his bravery remained unwavering a true testament to his character.

Lt. Col. Alari was not just a soldier; he was a protector, a mentor, and a patriot. His relentless pursuit of justice and his commitment to the safety of his country will forever be remembered. He epitomized the qualities of a selfless leader always prioritizing the wellbeing of his troops and the mission above his own safety.

Beyond the battlefield, Lt. Col. Alari was a devoted son, husband, and father. His family, though bereaved, can take solace in the legacy he leaves behind a legacy of valor, service, and love for his nation.

As Nigeria mourns the loss of one of its finest, we must honor his memory by continuing the fight he so bravely led. Lt. Col. T.E. Alari’s sacrifice will not be in vain. His name will forever be etched in the annals of history as a hero who stood against terror and gave his all for his country.

Rest in peace, gallant soldier. Nigeria owes you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

Am not on anyone's side, Congo needs liberation, there have been silent killings going on for years. All because of the diamonds and other resources, Am not in full support if coups & Rebels taking over government because it will lead to further conflicts.
For the Rwanda forces, I must say they've been very professional about handling these whole situation. The whole situation in Congo is complex, it's like considering two sides of a coin.

In a 5-minute, 42-second video, obtained by Zagazola Makama, Bugaje, who now wishes to be called Zakiru Bugaje, denounced kidnapping and theft, declaring his decision to turn a new leaf.

“We have abducted over 50 people, called their families, and demanded ransoms—some as high as 10 million naira, others 25 million naira. But we later released them without collecting a penny, out of the fear of God,” he said.

Bugaje repeatedly expressed remorse for his past actions, emphasizing that he would no longer engage in criminality.

He praised Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and urged others involved in banditry to abandon their ways.

Fuckers shouldn't be accepted back into the society, they should be summarily executed.

The President of M23 rebel group, Bertrand Bisimwa, urged journalists to stop spreading rumors that M23 is supported by Rwanda. He stated that these accusations are part of a propaganda campaign by DRC leaders to blame Rwanda for the country’s problems

How is ECOWAS helping to check the movement of arms?

It is rather doing the opposite. ECOWAS requires free movement between member states. No visas, thus no background checks.
Zamfara Gov Receives Weapons Seized from Gunrunner

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received a cache of weapons seized from a suspected gunrunner intercepted by the Department of State Services (DSS) while smuggling the arms from Niger Republic.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Gusau, Lawal commended the security agencies for their synergy and proactive intelligence gathering, which led to the successful interception.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security forces in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes in the state.

“These weapons could have ended up in the hands of criminals terrorizing our people. I commend the DSS and all security agencies for their diligence and coordination,” Lawal said.

The governor called on the public to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

Lawal assured residents that his government would continue collaborating with security agencies to strengthen counter-banditry operations across Zamfara and the Northwest region.

The above happened few days/weeks ago, imagine if ECOWAS falls apart, security agencies of member states will find it difficult to Crack down on weapons smugglers, cross border patrols would be a thing of the past etc

They should be "dashing' them one bullet for leg each as souvenir as they fly back to their country..
They would never extend the same mercy to Black Africans.
Africans hate themselves more that they hate these white demons.
Africa needs to learn to stop being merciful to these muzungus

My own is that i think we should stop all this big brother nonsense. No more free meals while we the citizens suffer. If ECOWAS collapses all wel and good...we simply close our bothers and start giving everyone the Trump treatment...we should start thinking Nigeria first....
If ECOWAS collapses there would be serious problem checking in on cross border prollification of terrorists & arms.
Nigeria military should brace up for tougher days ahead, this country brothers ain't serious at all !

I don't support Rwanda military activity in the
DRC but something stinks down there.
To be fair, Rwanda have been very professional with their M23 Proxy militia

No outright slaughter of innocents so far. And a professional set up with the infiltration of their army followed closely by their Police with dogs etc
