Not getting married is not necessarily selfish; in fact, it is not a bad thing. Are you aware that there are notable men and scientists throughout history who never got married? There are men that also genuinely tried, invested their time and energy into their marriages, and eventually reached a point where divorce became the only option they felt they had. It is not always easy for two people to adjust to each other. Both people have their own habits, values, expectations, and ways of doing things.

No woman wants to get married early out of their own free will including in the North. Voluntarily (without religion or society pressure), women only want marriage when they are older and unattractive - ideally from 28+. Those that get married before then feel they settled too early.
