Hausa's in New York? Where do they hang out? I have NEVER come across a someone who was Hausa. In fact, it wasn't up until last month that my sister met a Fulani guy from another high school here in New York. I see Ibo's and Yoruba's left and right but I have yet to meet or see someone who is Fulani let alone Hausa. A while ago, I asked my mom why Northerners don't travel too much and why I don't see too many of them around.

I saw a Fulani guy in Brooklyn last week. Was a first for me in years though.

Last time I checked Mr/Miss high moral judge, the term "negro" was and still remains an abusive word the whites used for black slaves. Humph, considering your nationality, you are even one. Let me see, the gender equality thing got you. For all your silly self righteousness, you are no better. Just hug a transformer cos you are obviously not worth the effort. I called them jobless females, suck it up. Even toddlers know that beauty pageants almost involve full nudity and in Nigeria, even prostitution and if you don't know that then I clearly have NO business with you. Whatever your reason for getting bitter about my comment, drink it up and keep being bitter cos you are officially ignored from this moment. Mtcheww.

High and moral is the cat who makes a judgment based on photos. Its amazing that like your quick to judge on still photos, you've decided to speak on my make up while knowing zero about me. cheesy

I'm glad I don't walk through life judging still photos, posters I don't know on message boards in order to feel better about myself or to boost my limited self esteem. I'm from a part of town where being a chatty patty over things like still photos or quick to judge are considered feminine qualities and are itch made. You wear that yoke playboy.

Wonder when these ones will learn to get serious as in read reasonable courses and create dignified jobs than parading half naked up and down. Tomorrow when their rubbish doesn't pay enough, they resort to "gender equality" fight. Some females sha, always looking for easy money. Culture / Re: Why Are Blacks Not Wealthy? by Bigchee72: 8:02pm On Jul 05, 2016
At every turn, whites systematically got in the way of every black collective success at wealth. You see it in the US with the destruction of numerous thriving black towns such as Rosewood, Tulsa and elsewhere which led to blacks taking Syrian like refugee tracks from the south to create northern urban ghettos which they have been in since.

We see it in Africa where black proxies were put In to replace our past colonial rulers leaving us financialized colonial subjects. Anyone who dared spoke for the people were suammarily executed through the use of those black proxies.

MLK said it best a month before he was murdered

grin grin grin this is time wasting na. just cus I mentioned african descendants or black diaspora doesn't mean I was implying Ogunwusi was speaking with them when he made those hazardous statements

Part of my defensiveness here is tied to this duality you speak of. It's always in the back of my mind, the embrace of the handed colonial religion, counter to what's innately and directly ours. sad

I too believed that to be Ooni means full commitment to the practice of our faith, however I also know that his predecessors were the same way.

hmmm. .. Yoruba also have similarities with Chinese which includes time keeping system
the Egyptians had similarities with the Aztec like burying slaves with Kings. ..Yoruba had this too

To talk about a group of people in connection to another group we must look at the language : Yoruba is a Niger-Congo language of the Volta - Niger branch. . Hebrew of the Jews is Afro-Asiatic no correlation can be made between both languages. The spirituality: Yorubas aren't exactly monotheistic in tradition, there's animism, Pantheism and Polytheism in our traditional beliefs. ... Jews are strictly monotheistic

so on what grounds does yoruba have anything to do with Jews? what part of the numerous orikis in yorubaland talk about Jews? or our trek from Israel?

when slaves were taken from yorubaland to Brazil, Cuba etc they retained much of the tradition. I just saw a Cuban music group called the Orishas...it seems Cubans are even more interested in Yoruba culture than yorubas at home. .Bunch of slaves! (the real slaves are the mentally enslaved not the physically enslaved)

with this in mind, why didn't yoruba retain Jewish culture like the yoruba descendants in the new world retained yoruba culture?

you see you are only trying to justify yourself with this Jewish - Yoruba thing for stooping so low to worship Jews

I won't argue here. Trust me, you're not alone vehemently having these feelings. I've long fought that fight and I too feel that Yoruba culture is better nurtured outside of Nigeroa than within it.

Remember When DNA testing was done for this clan in Uganda proving they were of Jewish heritage?

http://www.aish.com/jw/s/The_Jewish_Tribe_in_Uganda.html?mobile=yes

I would love to see the same testing done for Yoruba and those from that area to either open or close this theory.

is it right for an Ooni of any century whether in the past, present or future to preach Jesus? is Ogunwusi now a Pastor Ooni?
pls answer my question

Wasting your time? Now you're playing the verbatim game when you brought up the Ooni speaking to African descendants. I interpreted that as the black diaspora. So get off your high horse trying to categorize me as lacking in comprehension when you're robust with intellectual dishonesty.

listen, this is very wrong for any Prince hoping to contest to be Oba anywhere in yorubaland. like I said in a previous thread, it is better for the pride of the Yoruba race that we don't have Obas than to have Obas that are really slaves(mentally), bringing disrepute to the Yoruba identity.

this is so bad of the Ooni

lost tribes of Israel grin grin. why do you say that?

There are several similarities from circumcision, the wearing of white to certain rituals.

Like I said....I'm not going to say you're wrong for feeling the way you do. I also question and still question how we gravitate to a faith not completely native to us. As an Ife Prince myself, I understand where you're coming from about that duality.

the Ooni has just embarrassed himself, take for instance the african descendants wishing to return to their roots whom he met with the aim of building bonds with them will be so displeased and disgusted

he needs to get his act right and stop insulting the yoruba tradition

You still pushing this lie that he spoke about Christ to the black diaspora but not at a Nigerian church?

He spoke about tenets of Ifa to the African decendants. I have the film. Stop it bro.

one cannot serve two masters at the same time. One cannot be a traditionalist and at the same time, a christian.

Food for thought.

I can honestly say that I too have long questioned this dynamic. My father was an Ife Prince that grew up in the palace with Oba Aderemi. Asking him about this duality I was uncomfortable with he said "well everyone calls themselves Christian but when shit hits the fan, we all go back to the source of the Yoruba faith."

I still get much of the angst in here. But I find it easier to absorb believing we are one of the lost tribes talked about in the bible.

you are trying to act smarter than you really are

I asked " what use is an Ooni if he goes around preaching Jesus?"

note that "if" is conditional. He must be thought that few moves he has been making are wrong for an Ooni, he can send representatives to preach on his behalf as he likes; in whatever motive, could be to foster unity but for him crowned as the Arole oodua preaching jesus should not be left unaddressed

This shouldn't be too difficult to understand and give a fitting response wink

Why bother his tying his message to African Americans to him bringing up Jesus?

That's what you did. He said no such thing during his Diasporan outreach

but speak the truth! what use is an Ooni if he goes around preaching Jesus? What concerns Jesus with yoruba?

whether he attends a conference with African Americans or a church with Nigerians it changes nothing about his duty to the throne. .. which is to be the custodian and defender of the Yoruba culture and traditions in the same way the queen of England is the custodian of the English culture and defender of the Anglican faith

at least he unlike sijuwade is involved in Yoruba traditions...I saw him preside over the Olokun festival

we don't need pastors or imams as Obas. ..it is better for that throne to be vacant for all eternity than to Insult the ancestors with all these nonsense foreign religions that exist only to eliminate our identity as Africans.

This trip was nothing but him preaching Jesus?

Do you know the number of speeches he made? They were all about preaching Jesus? Are you serious? you make up your own truth and run with it. Is that how it works? He was preaching Jesus in front of the congressional black caucus? At MoCADA? At Odunde? At Columbia Univsersity? At the African Union? At the economic forum in Maryland?

He spoke to black American and West Indian crowds twice on this trip. Both times he spoke on the tenants of Ifa. You showed him at a Nigerian church and married it to an axe you likely carried into this thread to grind long before this thread came into existence.

I was embarrased watching how he kept moving from one local government council in the US to another to receive certificates from mayors(eauivalent to LG chairmen) and councellors. A whole Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa.

I also didnt like the way he kept preaching jesus almost everywhere he visited and not receiving the honour a king of his calibre was meant to receive.
Yet he tries to blend traditional religion with white mans religion. He seems confused.

The black americans he met were trying to connect to their roots and yoruba gods, but the Ooni went to the US preaching about white man's religion. The same religion the white man used in justifying the enslavement of their ansecstors for hundred of years.

They need to sit him in the palace and tutor him how tradition works.

The amount of money (which belongs to the people of ife) spent on logistics, renting of limousines, feeding, airline fees, hotels, sight seeing e.t.c running into 100 of millions of naira spent on tickets for everyone on his entourage including his pangolo musicians would have gone a long way if invested in Ife.

Maybe now that he is back in the country, the palace chief can send him to benin, agbor or kano for proper tutelage on how to be a king.

Princey...here is a forum I put together with the Ooni and black American and West Indian Yoruba followers and those wanting to know their heritage. Care to tell me where you heard him talking Jesus ?

Were you here to say what he was talking about when speaking to black Americans and west Indians? I didn't even air the part where he talks about Ifa.

I thank him for taking part of my program here and taking the time out to answer questions asked of him from the diaspora. To see an African American state senator speaking Yoruba as he handed our King a declaration for Yoruba Day in New York was a blessing.

Long live our king and he being a torch to light the black world ablaze while you sit here beating your fingers to the keyboard complaining.
