MODULE 2 - WHO DO YOU WANT TO SERVE? (CONT'D) Previously, I talked about digging down to find out the niche market you will be serving. To further help you with this understanding, there are three (3) basic questions you need to ask and have answers provided to them. Here they are: 1. Would people in this sub-core market be elated about the new opportunity I am providing in my niche? 2. Are the people in this core-market highly passionate? You can do a check online for communities - online forums, social groups; facebook groups/fan pages, podcasts, blogs, YouTube channels that talk passionately about your chosen niche. 3. Are these people ABLE and WILLING to spend money on information? See, some people are willing to spend money to acquire the professional expertise you have to offer but they are BROKE. In the reverse, there are some people who are ABLE but not WILLING to spend a dime on what you've got to offer. So, your sub-core market/niche must be willing and able to spend money. Are there events that already cater for this market, conferences, masterminds, summits (online or offline), etc? Are there already established experts that are already well known, thriving and selling their expertise in this market? Please, take time to answer these questions as many times as you can as this is what helps you to find the best market for you. Inability to find the best market willing and able to spend money is the reason why so many experts suffer. They create programmes, trainings, organize events, etc but hardly have anyone show up at the end of the day. Go ahead and do the work now. Good day, I had been expecting at least one comment from my previous post but didn't get any.. I want to make this training as practical as possible. But nonetheless, I'll continue... Ready? .... MODULE 2 - WHO DO YOU WANT TO SERVE? If you are going to make money from your professional expertise, then an important question you need to ask yourself is this, "WHO do I want to serve?" Hmmm.... Based on the stock taking of your knowledge and expertise, you would have found out that there's a limit to the kind of people you can serve. However, identifying exactly who these people are can be hard. From practical experience, there are 3 core markets to serve when it comes to profiting from your expertise. And they are: 1. Wealth. 2. Health. 3. Relationships. So, look closely at these 3 core markets, which of them do you fit in? If you are able to identify the one you fit in, you will still need to dig two levels deep to identify your specific audience. Let me break it down for you. 1. Wealth Sub-core markets - Investing, Finance, Real Estate, Sales/Marketing, etc. 2. Health Sub-core markets - Diet, Nutrition, Weight Loss, Strength Training/Fitness, Sleep, etc 3. Relationships Sub-core markets - Dating Advice, Marriage Advice, Love, etc. The above mentioned sub-core markets are not the only ones as there are tons and tons of them available. The question now is this, what sub-core market does your area of expertise fit right now? Have you been able to identify it? If yes, then let's continue. The money however is not in the sub-core market. Ehn? Joseph, what are you saying? The riches are in the niches - and these are one step beyond the sub-core market. Definition - What is a niche? A niche is simply a specific or unique section of the market that allows you to impact, thrive, and make money within that market. So, if you are to make money from your already existing professional expertise, you need to be able to identify your own niche. Here are examples of niches derived from the core and sub-core markets. Wealth - Real Estate - Rent/Commission Agency Wealth - Online Business - Creating and Selling Online Courses Health - Nutrition - High-fat diets Health - Weightloss - Weightloss for middle aged women Relationships - Parenting - Dealing and Coping With Teenagers Relationships - Dating - How To Recover After A Breakup .... MODULE 1 - TAKING STOCK OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE Money only trades hands when there is an exchange of value. You are where you are working right now because I believe you are adding value to your organization and hence your been paid at the end of the month. Even if you are not employed, you have a form of standardized expertise you are willing to exchange for money. People will only pay you when you help them solve a problem. The question you now need to ask yourself is if what you know can be a solution to a particular set of people who want it and can afford to pay for it. I want to make this training as interactive as possible. If you are reading this, I want you to list out your expertise (skills, abilities, etc) right here on this thread. This is very important because I want us to put into practice, all I will be teaching us. The reason we have to do this is to be able to discover marketable and profitable skills, professional expertise, abilities, etc that we can take to the marketplace in exchange for money. THE EXTRA I am writing this piece not to excite you but to let you see the possibilities in your ability to create extra income from your current professional expertise aside your monthly salary. Having worked as an HR intern in 2005/6 at Nestle Nigeria PLC., Agbara, Ogun state, I know what it means to work in the corporate world and its attendant demands. However, nothing can stop you if you want something bad enough. Look at the future, will your current salary be able to cater for your needs? Is the life you are currently living the same type of life you want to live in the next 5 years? Is the economy of this country not enough reason to create a buffer around your current income stream? I leave you to answer these questions yourself. If you are truly desirous of creating that extra source of income, then you must be willing to put in the extra. That extra will compound overtime to become a major source of income for you in the future. The decision lies in your court. Are you willing to do the extra? Your answer and commitment will tell. I want to recommend a resource to you. It's an audiobook titled THE TIME WARRIOR by Steve Chandler. Go to YouTube and search for it. Take time to listen to it over and over again. Good day everyone, Before I continue with this training, I'll like to lay some things bare. First and foremost, if you are looking for something just for the short term and not willing to go the long term, what I will be teaching you will be practically useless. It means you must be ready to play the long term game, cultivating a fruitful relationship to enable you make use of your current knowledge to earn extra income. Secondly, you must have genuine love for people at heart if you want to succeed. If you are callous and just want to do it for the sake of THE MONEY, you might make it in the short term but sincerely, you will have lose big time. Thirdly, you must be ready to implement what you will be learning here. One of the things I have come to personally experience in life is that when a training programme is done, it excites so many people who attend but at the end, only few implement what they learn while even fewer remain dogged to get results from what they implement. Many implement a little and run away when they face challenges along the way. Fourthly, you must not over analyze. What do I mean? Imperfect action is better than perfect intention. A lot of you are on this table. You always want to ensure everything is working well, set properly and is just the way you like it before you set out. It's a good trait but what if I tell you that it can be your greatest undoing. How many times have you seen someone doing something you were thinking of doing? When you see such, you now begin to tell yourself, "But I can do it better than the way this person is doing it." Ideas are a dime a dozen. Maybe in the course of this training, I would share with you my first ever website which I coded with html as far back as 2005/6. I loved it like nothing else but today, I do far better than that. My point is this - don't wait until everything is perfect before you set out. Clarity is a journey, it's not a destination. I get it that you are a professional and that you always want to cross your "t's" and dot your "i's." I get it and not arguing with you. But from practical experience, if you want to sell what you already know, you will have to do it without being perfect from the onset. As you continue to implement and put out your expertise, you will get more insight, more feedback on how to do it better. Having said all of these, let's set the ball rolling.. Are you ready? ... I graduated from the university in August 2012 after spending 11 years and 8 months. During my internship in the Human Resources department of Nestle Nigeria Plc., Agbara, Ogun State, (September 2005 – February 2006), I developed a turn-around proposal that utilized the advantages to the internet to make recruitment easier and faster as our mode of recruitment then was physical application letter submission and shortlisting. Been a self-taught person, I started my computer training school in 2007 though having learnt how to design websites since 2005 after a friend inspired me. I ran this for over 5 years before going for my national youth service in 2013, in Katsina State in 2013. During the 3 weeks camp period, I gave a talk on entrepreneurship & ICT to almost 2000 corps members of the 2013 Batch A; I was specifically allocated a class to train other corps members for 3 days during the Skill Acquisition Training Week. I was invited by the State Coordinator of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) department of the NYSC to give a talk on Entrepreneurship to the 2013 Batch B members in June 2013. I was appointed the Corps Welfare Officer (CWO) in the secondary school where I taught during my service year. I trained the teachers in my Place of Primary Assignment (Government Day Junior Secondary School, Funtua, Katsina) in a 1-day seminar on How To Use The Internet To Improve Their Teaching Profession. I also organized a community seminar in Funtua, Katsina titled “Beyond The Internet Basics.” This seminar had participants from the Nigeria Police Force and various associations within the community. I organized this seminar while working part-time with an NGO named PADEAP (Pan African Development & Education Advancement Programme). I taught myself how to write professional CVs that gets you noticed and shortlisted for interviews. This knowledge helped me in organizing a FREE seminar for corps members in Funtua titled “The Market Place Winning CV.” I thereafter sold them my Professional CV Writing Services and made money doing so. I also organized another seminar titled “After NYSC, What Next?” This I later converted into an audio course which I still have till date. I was invited by the NYSC Zonal Inspector in Funtua, Katsina State to give a lecture to the passing out 2012 Batch C Corps Members on preparing for life after service year. 1999. Immediately after my SSCE in May of that year, I picked up my father's profession - WELDING. Yes, I pulled off my school uniform and went to learn the rudiments of welding and metal sheet bending at my father's factory. It was a tough experience as I had to put aside my mental knowledge of academics and learn the nitty-gritty of manufacturing things from iron metal. I remember the first day I had the experience of having the smoke from a welding job enter my eyes and waking up in the middle of the night to excruciating pains... I thought I was going to go blind that day... My father was not at home that day... Hahaha... I wept like a baby when I discovered my eyes were being pinched by pin-like objects from the inside. Sounds funny to me now...but then it wasn't at all. Aside that, my father taught me the importance of quality and the need to always ensure I use the best quality materials for jobs as this is what would ensure that the jobs lasts for a very long time. I remember one particular day he took me to one hospital - where he was the one who manufactured their hospital equipment ranging from beds to bedside lockers, drip stands, kick about, obstetric tables and the likes.. The doctor told me something I can never forget for the rest of my life. He said, "See, these beds have been manufactured by your dad for over ten years and they are still intact. We only call him every year to help us repaint them." That experience made a huge impact on me and there and then, I vouched to hold on to providing qualitative jobs to clients. For more than 9 years, I put this lesson into every welding manufacturing job I did for clients. And the results? Amazing. The people who need your knowledge are waiting for you to lead them. However, you need to become a charismatic leader in order for you to become the kind of leader they need. Keep to these rules below: 1. Become an attractive character, and live the life your audience wishes they could live - People will follow you because you have experienced/completed the journey they are on right now, and greatly desire the result you have already achieved. In brief, they want to become JUST LIKE YOU. Your audience will only take action if you are willing to show them what it took you to move from where they currently are to where you are. It then means that you have to live the life that your audience wishes to live as that is what will inspire them more than anything. 2. Be absolutely certain - This is not about self-confidence. "Self confidence is for kids." (Setema Gali). To be able to make impact, you MUST BE CERTAIN. Being absolutely certain is what draws your audience to you as it makes them see you as THE EXPERT. How do you gain certainty? By sharing your messages constantly over and over again on platforms your audience can be found. You can share your messages daily via facebook, instagram, snapchat, blogging or any platform you choose. What matters more than the platform you choose is your consistency. 3. Note however that it is not everyone that will like you - that is a normal thing. Nonetheless, you must be very enthusiastic about your message and how your life has been changed and how you intend to help others change their lives by taking the steps you took. 4. Understanding how to use persuasion is a must - Blair Warren in The One Sentence Persuasion course said, "People will do anything for those who encourage their dreams, justify their failures, allay their fears, confirm their suspicisions, and help them throw rocks at their enemies." You must learn how to use persuasion. You can go online (google or youtube) and research on how to use persuasion. 5. Be ready to care massively - If your sole purpose is just to make money from your audinece, you will not last long. You will not grow and so will your pocket not grow. You must actually care a lot about your audience. They must also be able to know that you do care for them. If you care for them, they will go the extra mile to pay you for your expertise. 6. Offer immense value - This cannot be overemphasized. It is meant for a particular set of people WHO ARE WILLING AND ABLE TO PAY. Knowing whom you want to serve plays a very important role in monetizing your skills and expertise. If you cannot define whom exactly you want to serve, you will end up being frustrated. Why? Simply because you will be marketing your expertise to the wrong set of people. This will leave you broke, confused and agitated. Knowing who you want to serve can be sometimes hard to find or locate, nonetheless, this thread will help you identify them. If you look closely, you will discover that your knowledge/skills falls basically into three core areas which are; 1. WEALTH 2. HEALTH 3. RELATIONSHIPS At this juncture, the question I want to ask you is this; Which of these 3 core areas match your area of expertise? Good day everyone. Today, I will be sharing a powerful assignment that will help you eliminate your limiting beliefs. This is an excerpt from an article by Jordan Gray from his website: jordangrayconsulting.com Please, read through and DO THE ASSIGNMENT =================== HERE WE GO =================== Do these five steps, in this order, every time you feel that something internal is holding you back… 1. Name Your Demons Use the ancient art of sentence completion to have your mind fill in the blank. Write down “I am afraid that…” and finish the sentence ten times. The sentences that come out in this stage are your limiting beliefs that hold you back. Ex. “I am afraid that… I will always struggle in my dating life” If you can’t think of ten different beliefs try thinking about multiple areas of your life… financial, romantic, social, happiness, self-worth, career fulfillment, etc. 2. Face Your Demons Now under each of your limiting beliefs you want to write 3-5 ‘reasons why’ you fear those things. This is really digging into the core of these issues and is often more surprising than the beliefs themselves. Ex. “I am afraid that I will always struggle romantically… because my parents fought a lot when I was young and I feel like I will probably end up like them and I want to avoid that pain.” 3. Punch Your Demons In The Face The third step is about disproving your limiting beliefs. Under each of your limiting beliefs, write down as many points of evidence to the contrary as you can. Go for at least five per limiting belief. Think of everything in your life (no matter how big or small they may seem) that stands in contrast to your old limiting belief and make note of them. Ex. “I don’t need to fear struggle in my romantic life because I am an increasingly valuable partner that women respond well to for a reason.” 4. Write Your New Empowered Belief Now here is the real ninja part… Reference the old belief briefly, and then in a realistic but compelling manner, state the new empowered belief for each of your ten limiting beliefs. Ex. “Although I sometimes stress about women, I know that it is unavoidable that I will be successful in my love life. Whenever I have put mind to it, I have been able to get into a relationship with ease.” 5. Repeat As Needed Some beliefs are rooted more deeply than others. Although one session is often enough to give you massive clarity, you may find it helpful to repeat this process multiple times over the course of a month to really uproot your old limiting beliefs. I can guarantee there’s nothing quite like removing an unconscious belief that has held you back for years, to feel the true freedom and ease that a free mind enables you with. Mental Handcuffs Remember to watch out for new limiting beliefs that are thrown at you by others. Having a certain level of skepticism towards any advice that is thrown your way is a necessary step in your process. It is too easy to go with the flow in life and agree with what everyone else collectively thinks is “the right way” to do things. But this is most often not the best thing to do for your character growth. Whenever people say phrases such as “the way things are…”, “you should…”, or “the only way to…”, then you can be fairly certain that a limiting belief is being tossed your way. Learn to recognize these statements for what they are… someone putting their limiting belief on you. ======================== Over to you now.
