6 Tips to Help You Improve As An Entrepreneur

Source: http://wealthygorilla.com/6-simple-tips-help-improve-entrepreneur/

People have different ways of looking at entrepreneurship, and quite rightly so. This is what makes entrepreneurship so wonderful. Every single person comes with a lot of things that make it even better. That’s why there’s no single parameter to define success in entrepreneurship.

Most seasoned entrepreneurs agree that success in entrepreneurship must not be seen as an end destination. You better see it as a daily battle to bring the best out of you. In every single aspect of managing a business, which ultimately sums up into your success as an entrepreneur.

Like all other things, there’s always a room for little improvement in entrepreneurship; rather, it’s one of its best features. The moment you think it’s perfect, there’s no way further to improve in whatever you have as a product or service, mark it as the beginning of your end.

So, I have come up with certain simple but effective tips that can help you spruce up your entrepreneurial skills.

1. Use the Night to Plan the Day Ahead
Yeah, I know you are thinking; God, I knew this since my kindergarten.
Indeed, you knew it since a long time ago, but be totally honest with yourself for a minute and think when was the last time you ACTUALLY planned for your day ahead the night before.

Fact of the matter is that not only a few people really follow this little piece of advice poured through their ears since childhood. The majority of those few are truly successful at whatever they do, be it entrepreneurship or anything else.
Everybody is lined up with a few tasks for every single day.

It’s only with a solid plan that you can run through them optimally. One of the basic purposes of this plan is to prioritize what’s most important for you from what’s not. Sort out the matters that need our instant attention and lining up the rest accordingly.

Most of us are inclined to take up easier tasks happily than the harder ones, and this might be damaging your business in the worst possible manner. So, get into the habit of determining your priorities honestly before you sleep. That way you can handle matters optimally when you get up the next day.

2. Start Getting up a Little Earlier
Though what time you choose to wake up daily is much of a personal choice, but a little tweak can improve your odds of being successful at entrepreneurship significantly. Get up a little earlier than you usually do to squeeze out that YOU TIME, the all essential moments dedicated to yourself only, which can literally exalt your entrepreneurial skills in every manner.

Like a true entrepreneur, you need to invest in the most rewarding opportunity. Which is your own betterment in this case. Use this quite time to reflect, rearrange and revitalize yourself. You can devote it for any. positive activity like meditation, praying or a revitalizing physical workout.

After all, isn’t entrepreneurship all about facing challenges and hurdles without giving in to them, for which you need a healthy body and fresh mind, perhaps more than anything else?

3. Start Positive and Stay Positive
Once you inculcate the habit of waking up early, you would have much more time and opportunity to start your day positively. With ample time and a plan ready to guide you efficiently through the day ahead, you can start your day by feeding your mind with positive content. Though some notable entrepreneurs suggest staying totally away from email and social media, I wouldn’t do that; instead, I suggest adding positivity to your day through some motivational content.

In this regard, there’s no specialized media, anything that can influence you positively will serve the purpose. Just make sure not to let negativity ruin your day even before it’s really started.

4. Value Your Time, Don’t Lose Focus
You know what’s the most deceiving way to ruin the productivity of your whole day?

Distractions!

Yes, and the worst part is that most of the time you aren’t even aware that how much of your valuable time will be lost dealing with those distractions. They can come from any person or any situation you might come across through the course of your day.
Even a little deviation from your plan to deal with someone else’s problem can result in you giving up the control of your day.

Being a better entrepreneuris about having a plan and sticking to it, which also means sayingnoat the right time. Of course, you don’t feel good about hurting people’s feelings, but as an entrepreneur, it’s one of your prime objectives to guard your interests first and foremost.

5. Move Forward One Step at a Time
What’s one of the most damaging myths of modern times that might be hurting your entrepreneurial aspirations?

Multitasking!

This might surprise you, as you have long been hearing that surviving and progressing in today’s corporate world is not possible without multitasking. However, the fact of the matter is that it’s proven wrong on a scientific basis.
Alternately, sticking to your plan is a much better approach, taking one task at a time. When you have only one task to complete, you can dedicate all your time, energy, focus and resources towards that to do it in the best possible manner.

It’s not like striving for perfection, but for excellence.

6. Keep it Balanced
There’s one area where entrepreneurship sucks the most, as far as I am concerned. Want to know which one? Work life balance! As entrepreneurs, we are too busy pushing harder than ever to reach our goals. But in doing so, we get ourselves extremely vulnerable to burnout. That’s why some of the world’s top entrepreneurs have established clear boundaries. They know when they will stop work and turn to their personal lives.

It makes real sense, it’s much better to give work a little break rather than finding yourself totally unable and unwilling to do it at all after some time.
There is no way you can save yourself from a total burnout, if you are all work and no family time kind of a person. Sooner or later, burnout will hit you hard if you don’t set those work-life balance boundaries and respect them like most of the top entrepreneurs do.
In Conclusion

Remember, the best use of entrepreneurship in your life should be to bring peace and freedom along with all monitory benefits. Developing these habits will help you improve remarkably in your entrepreneurship skills.

How to Achieve Excellence in Anything - July 24, 2015 By SelineShenoy

What do Albert Einstein, Michael Jordan, Steven Spielberg and JK Rowling all have in common (besides being pioneers in their fields)?

They were all once considered average or below average by their peers.

Before they were successful, several people in positions of authority such as teachers, coaches and publishing agents rejected them and told them that they wouldn’t amount to anything. Despite the discouragement that they received from these so-called experts, they all persisted in their efforts. They did not allow other people’s opinions about their capabilities to dissuade them from walking down their desired path.

They had an unshakable belief in their potential to succeed, and this prevented them from losing hope in the face of opposition and challenges. They saw themselves as winners even before others did. Yet this “winner’s mindset” is not an easy one to develop. Most people aren’t resilient enough to create this because of negative beliefs that they assimilated due to early childhood conditioning and other painful experiences.

The truth is that we live in a society that programs us for mediocrity. From the time we enter school, we are instantly measured by a standard yardstick. If we are not a straight-A student, a star athlete, or popular in school, we are labeled as being an average person without much potential. At home, most of us were taught to follow the rules and avoid taking risks. Although it was done with good intentions, it can have a significant impact on the trajectory of our lives, and we are more likely to stay within the confines of a predictable life and miss out on opportunities to play a bigger game.

With all these heavy influences in our youth, it’s no wonder that so many people hold back from reaching their full potential because of being chained by their beliefs about mediocrity. These beliefs blind them from identifying opportunities that could open up a whole new realm of possibilities. Therefore, if we continue to believe, on a subconscious level, that we are mediocre, our behavior and choices will reflect upon this. For this reason, the first and most crucial step is to shift our beliefs.

The good news is that, with the right guidance, it is possible to transform this negative programming into something that’s affirming and encouraging.

We can do this by eliminating the belief that we are mediocre and replacing it with the belief that we are capable of extraordinary achievements, no matter what we have been told in the past.

Once you have removed the label of mediocrity, you can proceed to take the following steps to further develop your potential:

Identify your strengths: Make a list of all your past accomplishments that you are proud of achieving. It does not have to be anything monumental, just something that you made you feel proud. Identify what personal strengths were demonstrated in each achievement.

Capitalize on your strengths: Look over your strengths and ask yourself, how you can use these strengths in both a personal and professional setting? How can you use what comes naturally to you to create a lucrative situation and/or help people live better lives?

Outsource your weaknesses: After embracing your strengths, the next step is to identify your weaknesses – things that you may have to work a little harder on to master. The truth is that we can’t be good at everything – the most successful people in the world accept this and are willing to get help or outsource these tasks. For example, if you are not a good with numbers, hire an accountant. Not only is this productive but it’s sensible because it gives you time to focus on the things that you are good at.

Be patient with yourself and remain consistent: Don’t be disheartened if you experience delays and setbacks along the way. There is always a learning curve involved so don’t associate delays with your lack of competency. Each and every expert was considered mediocre in their field at some point, but with time and lots of practice, they got better and better.

Create a solid support system: The people around you have a significant impact on how you feel about yourself and your achievements. For this reason, it is critical that we spend more time with people who are supportive and encouraging. When we feel down, we need someone to remind us of our greatness and help us get back on our feet. I suggest finding a support group or community, a friend, or coach who can play this important role in your life.

When I was a little girl, I used to enjoy watching ants crawl around in my garden. What fascinated me the most was their incredible ability to carry things that were much heavier than their own body weight.

Just like the ant, we too have the ability to take on big, challenging endeavors that might seem intimidating at first. All we need is to believe in our own magnificence and our strength to succeed at anything we set our minds on.

All my best on your journey,

Seline

Question for you:
What steps can you take to move from mediocrity to excellence in your life? Do you believe that you can achieve excellence in anything you set your heart on?

Good day everyone,

How are you all doing?

I believe we all are learning something great and unique on this thread. I will be continuing with my lectures.

Today I will be talking about utilizing social media to monetize your skills. I will be lecturing using my own personal experience.

Facebook is free.

Many people however only use facebook to kill time, chat away their lives, comment and like pictures unnecessarily, hope for the latest discovery amongst many other things. You can turn facebook to your own money making machine.

How?
Simply sharing what you do or can do periodically on your facebook wall. You can also take it further by sharing your posts in various groups that you belong to.

I have personally done this many times and it has brought in money for me through direct contact with people who need them or via referrals from people who saw my post and decided to share or inform others that are in need of it.

You can convert your facebook wall to a treasure house of knowledge. It's very much possible.

Let me share the example of Mr. Uju Onyechere, one of the contributors in the Success Digest Newspaper published by Success Attitude Development Centre (owned by the highly revered father of internet marketers in Nigeria - Pastor Sunny Obazu Ojeagbase).

Mr Uju Onyechere has a group on facebook called "Models & Mentors" (You can search it out. He even has another one called Models & Mentors II). In this group, Mr. Uju used to post different articles on a daily basis (I don't think he does that anymore). The posts are so impacting, life changing and highly beneficial. This he continued to do for a very long time maintaining his consistency.

Not too long after that, he put up a product for sale.

What was the group members' response? They swarm around the product like when ants swarm around sugar.

I also bought the product way back then.

Why was this possible?

1. He freely shared his skill with us in the group.

2. He provided feedback periodically as people commented.

3. He understood the POWER OF FREE (which I have discussed in previous posts).

What are you waiting for? Begin to monetize your skill using your facebook profile.

Thank you.

Hi OP,

I empathize with you.

Jesus is the ONLY SOLUTION to this problem.

All you need is a 3-day marathon fasting coupled with the following prayers and instructions.

Read the following Psalms three times each - Psalm 2, 12, 24, 35, 27 and 144. Read Esther 7 three times then Isaiah 8:9-10 seven times.

Sing this song: Arise O Lord, let thy enemies be scattered...

Pray the following prayer points:

1. O Lord God of battle, every evil load prepared for my family, let the owners of evil load carry their load.

2. God of Vengeance (nine times), arise in your anger and destroy every evil powerhouse setup in any realm of satanic kingdom against my family.

3. Sword of judgment (twelve times), begin to massacre any power or satanic agent sent on assignment against my family.

4. Sword of vengeance (twelve times), begin to kill and bury any power or satanic that has dug any grave for my family. Fill the grave with them.

5. Every evil association and conspiracy against my family, backfire by fire now in the name of Jesus.

6. God of vengeance, avenge for my family.

Start the prayer by 11pm each night with aggressive praise and thanksgiving.

If you are opportune, there's an interdenominational prayer programme this Friday at Ejigbo mini stadium, Ejigbo, Lagos by 10pm.

The title of the programme is ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

If you need further details, you can reach me on whatsapp - 08144303049, BBM - 2B6A257E or call 08098086797.

God bless you.

THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

Though this was not part of the outline I shared at the beginning of this lecture, I am writing about it now because it is very important to the monetization of any skill you have.

Relationships are very important when it comes to making money with your skill.

What I am doing right now is building a relationship with you such that you can entrust your funds to execute a project for you now or in the future. While I am giving you this lecture free of charge, I am also bonding with you as I share my ideas and expertise.

The same applies to any skill you have; you should not just be concerned about the money you intend making. Be concerned about people, be concerned about their needs, be concerned about their desires. Even if you disagree with some of the things they might say to you, it's proper that you ALWAYS present yourself as one who is able to comport himself without getting infuriated at such comments/discussions.

Some years ago (precisely in 2007) when I started my computer training school, the school population increased because aside the qualitative training I gave my students, I bonded with them so well that sometimes we eat together from the same plate. It brought so much camaraderie that they would always refer other computer training prospects to the school.

Even though I closed down the computer training school in December 2012 before going for national youth service, I still remain good friends with many of them.

What is the bottom line of all I am saying?

Be GENUINELY concerned about people.

Be concerned about their needs.

Be concerned about how your products and or services can help them get better.

Don't just shove your products and or services in their faces. Be of help to them.

My Oga Jaybee3,

Thanks for your response.

I don't discriminate. I do what is right. My life is ordered by the Word of God which is supreme above any monetary pursuit.

I can't pursue wealth and damn my soul in hell.

It's better I don't do what will make God angry with me and make people angry than please people and make God angry. No one can stand God's wrath both now and in eternity.

Hell is a place reserved for those who decide to trade their soul for the vain things of this world. I am not saying money is not good, not at all. However, I prefer without any apologies, to make money the way God deems it for me. Jeremiah 10:23 says, "O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps."

The way I do my business is of utmost concern to God. It's better for me to forfeit millions and make heaven for "what shall it profit a man to gain this whole world and lose his soul."

Jesus died for my soul and that is far more precious than any monetary acquisition. I don't want the death of Jesus over me to be in vain.

I want to make heaven.

Thank you.

Oga Jaybee3,

Thanks for your question.

However as a serious Christian who is desirous of making heaven, I can't give an answer to your question because it does not improve lives as it gives way for the lustful desires of the flesh of which the bible strong warns that "I should flee from."

Therefore, as an obedient child of God, I decline to provide answers to your question.

Nairaland Testimony

I'm sure some of us know a big man on this forum by the moniker - Jarus. He is a well known figure right here.

He started harnessing his skills by always sharing what he knew for FREE. Yes, I mean FOR FREE!

You can visit his blog - www.jarushub.com and see the different products and services he has on offer.

He didn't start in a day.

When you share your expertise for FREE when you begin, people begin to see you as THE EXPERT.

They come to respect your opinion on issues that are peculiar to your field of interest and even beyond that.

You've got to utilize the POWER OF FREE to harness the monetization of your skills.

Here's an action step-by-step you can implement here on Nairaland.

1. Locate the section/subsection where your prospects are.

2. Create a thread and begin to share your expertise day by day.

3. Be consistent and ensure you are available to answer questions posted.

4. Upgrade your skills services by providing one-on-one consultations for FREE.

5. Then sell your skills/services to clients whom you have impacted with your FREE SERVICES. You can update your post by letting your prospects know that they can get more detailed personalized services/products if they patronize or consult you.

6. Repeat the process over and over again.

7. Upgrade (I will discuss this in details later on in this lecture).

Go ahead and take ACTION!

Thank you.

Please, don't forget to post your questions here or reach me via: Whatsapp - 08144303049, BBM - 2B6A257E or Mobile - 08098086797.

Thanks once again.

How To Use The Power Of FREE To Make More Money With Your Skill

Many people love free things - that's a fact. If you know how to package this, you'll make more money.

As a relatively unknown professional CV writer, I knew it would be difficult for people to believe in me since I had no track record.

As at then (I think 2014 to be precise), I was a member of the 2013 Batch A NYSC thread and had already made friends with some of them via our interactions on that thread. I therefore decided to write CVs for FREE for those who were interested.

Why did I do this?

I did this so that I could get the TESTIMONIALS of those I wrote the CVs for. I re-crafted the CVs and requested for testimonials from those I re-wrote them for. This they willingly gave. Armed with these testimonials, I created a completely different thread in the NYSC Section targetting "FRESH GRADUATES and or CORPS MEMBERS." Here is the link >> https://www.nairaland.com/1802532/professional-cv-rewrite-corps-members

I also priced my service at an affordable rate and then posted the testimonials I had earlier gotten on the thread.

This brought in sales even up till now.

Recently, I created a FREE CV REWRITE OFFER in the Jobs/Vacancies section here on Nairaland. The aim is to get new testimonials and then use them on the website I am specially setting up for my Professional CV Writing Services.

Here is the link >> https://www.nairaland.com/3121333/free-cv-review-first-5

I thereafter created a group on Whatsapp named CV Rewrite/Job Search Tips and sought the permission of those that took up the free cv rewrite offer to add them. They all willingly agreed. The aim is to share job search tips FREE OF CHARGE and thereafter tell them about my Cover Letter Writing Service. They will take up this offer as I have already built trust and confidence via my relationship with them.

I will expand more on this later.

Thanks.

In this post, I'll be talking about "My Skills & How I Make Money With Them"

Without any iota of pride and with all humility, the skills I possess are as follows in no particular order:

- Web design (Website design for individuals/companies, blog setup, school portal setup, etc)
- Writing (For Websites, Blogs, Ebooks, Physical books, etc)
- Professional CV Writing
- Mobile Marketing Setup (Bulk SMS Business Setup, Ring back tune/caller tunes setup, Shared/Dedicated Code Setup, Toll Free/Non-Toll Free Numbers Setup, etc)
- Ebook Cover Designs
- Professional PowerPoint Presentation Design/Setup
- Etc

How then do I make money with these skills?

You don't need to know everything before you begin to make money with whatever skill you have. You can start with the little you have and milk it continually all the time.

How Do I Make Money With My Skills?

I will start with my writing skill and I will use Nairaland as a case study to show you that if you know how to package yourself properly, you can make money via this platform.

One of the major things I identified was the "section" where my services was going to be needed.

I was able to identify my TARGET MARKET.

You need to be able to identify the category or set of people that will be needing your services.

As a website designer, I know that there are times clients will give one a job to do but will not provide the content for their website yet will expect you to come up with their jobs. There are times you might ask them for it but the information they provide will be very little and might not suffice to do the job. You therefore have to create time to research and develop content for such jobs or contract the writing to someone else.

Check out the post I created some years ago (Precisely on August 22nd, 2011) >> https://www.nairaland.com/741686/web-content-writing-development-support

After I identified my target market, I identified the problem that my target market was having and positioned myself as a solution to their problem.

I periodically updated my solution and before you know it, I had contacts from people who needed my services. I got a contract to write for a forum way back then, I also got a contract to develop content for a human resources firm, I also got a writing contract for an e-commerce firm and so on.

Presently, I am writing for 2 separate blogs providing unique articles on a periodic basis.

Good day everyone,

Please, I'm sorry for my inability to continue at the pace I started.

It was never deliberate.

I'll be continuing this lecture in the next post.

Thank you for following.
