Olatunde Qadri, one of the 16 contestants in the biggest entrepreneurial reality TV show in West Africa, The Next Titan season 6, quit his medical job of five years to be on the show.

The Communications Manager for the project, Motunrayo Idris, in a statement said that Qadri made his decision known during a profile interview on the first episode of the show, quoting him as saying he would settle for The Next Titan given the opportunity.

“I left my job because I saw Next Titan as a big platform to help boost my dream of becoming a fashion designer and a doctor. I see it as an avenue to showcase my idea to millions of people.He added.

In addition, Olatunji said that although he could always get another job as a medical doctor in any good hospital, he might not get another chance to be on The Next Titan and that was why he took the big decision to quit. “I have a strong conviction about it and I have no regret whatsoever. As a matter of fact, a send forth was done for me before I left the office,” he said.


The Next Titan is a reality TV show that is aimed at empowering young Nigerians, by providing quality leadership, management and finance skills, amongst others, to bring great ideas and Innovation to life, and this year’s show is theme: Impossible is possible.

This year’s show houses professionals from different works of life, such as lawyers, Information technology managers, Journalist to mention a few.

The show, which encourages entrepreneurs, does not limit its scope to just business. It gives room for anyone with a brilliant idea to be innovative and bring their ideas to life.



The show, which has been on for six years, has experienced immense growth and keeps expanding in terms of interest and engagement of Nigerian youths.

As News will have it, Some courses were not accredited in my brother's school (Kwara State University ) so they adviced the students doing such courses to switch to other accredited courses related to the initial one but he is confused as to which one to choose. Please which of these courses do you suggest he should switch to... Political science, Public Administration, Linguistics, English, or Mass communication?

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has declared that he was the bonafide king of Lagos.

“I’m here to justify my appointment, you cannot build something on nothing, it will become broken.

“By native law and customs and by law, I am the bonafide Oba of Lagos,” Akiolu said, yesterday, while testifying before an Ikeja High Court.

Akiolu’s installation as the Oba of Lagos is being challenged by Prince Adedoyin Adebiyi and Prince Rasheed Modile, two members of the Lagos royal family.

The Governor of Lagos State, the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Prince Babatunde Akitoye and Chief Junaid Eko were joined as respondents in the suit.

Adebiyi and Modile are claiming that Akiolu is not entitled to be on the throne because he is not a member of a ruling royal family by not being a direct descendant of Oba Ado, the first Oba of Lagos.

According to the claimants, only members of the Ologun Kutere and Akinsemoyin ruling households were entitled to the throne.

They have also alleged that proper customary rules and procedures were not followed when he was installed as Oba in May 2003.

While being led in evidence by his lawyer, Mr. Adetokunbo Mumuni, Akiolu told the court about the procedure he followed to become the king: “After I made my intention known to my family that I wanted to be Oba of Lagos and I applied for the throne, in May 2003, the head of the kingmakers and the then sole administrator of Lagos Island called at my residence.

“At that time, I was preparing to go to the mosque and I was told that I received a letter from the state government and the executive council of Lagos.

“The letter was accepting my nomination that I had been approved to be a worthy successor of the then late Oba of Lagos.

“It is exactly 14 years that my appointment was approved.

“By the grace of Almighty Allah, there is nothing like rotation in the succession to be the Oba of Lagos.”



Lawyer to the claimants, Mr. Babatunde Fashanu (SAN), asked Akiolu whether proper customary procedure was followed when he became king, and Akiolu replied that he was customarily installed as Oba by kingmakers.

“Akiolu is a direct descendant of Oba Ologun Kutere, there is no registered declaration for the throne.

“It is the old customs and the recommendations of the Price Commission, which is over 100 years old, that is valid till now,” he said.

The Oba also debunked claims that the Akiolu royal family was not a ruling house because it was non-existent.

“Despite the letter from Lagos State confirming my appointment as Oba, stating that I am from the Akiolu royal family. I want to make it clear that a royal family and ruling house means the same thing.

“My appointment as the king was the first time in history that kingmakers would be unanimous in selecting an Oba of Lagos,” he said.

Presiding judge, Justice A. Candide-Johnson, adjourned the case until June 19, 2017, for continuation of trial.

A Facebook user, Chiluba Chukwuba has expressed her disappointment over Banky W’s proposal to ‘Falling’ actress, Adesua Etomi.

The love birds stunned everyone earlier today when they revealed that they have been in a relationship for a while now and that in fact, Banky W actually proposed two months ago.

As gathered by BlackBox Nigeria, the obviously shocked Chiluba took to her account to reveal that she was in a relationship with the EME boss whose proposal she turned down in January. Banky W proposed to Adesua a month later.

“You proposed to Adetomi
I wonder why? Whereas you proposed to me January, I told you to wait for me to graduate from law school, you said ok,” the heartbroken lad claims.

The newly engaged Banky W and Adesua Etomi who stunned many on Kemi Adetiba’s ‘Wedding Party’ are yet to react to the claim.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) mock exercise.

The Registrar, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, in a statement yesterday, assured Nigerians, UTME candidates and their parents that all hands were on deck to ensure the smooth conduct of this year’s UTME exercise.



Oloyede noted that the interest of the candidates was foremost to the Board and there was no need for any apprehension regarding the purchase of forms and registration for the examinations.

He said: “It is our commitment as a responsive and responsible body to ensure that no willing candidate is left out and if there is a need to extend the registration deadline, the needful will be done.

“Meanwhile, Saturday April 8th , 2017 has been set aside for the Mock UTME. To seamlessly achieve this, the Board has suspended all activities relating to the registration exercise in any CBT centre from 8pm today being Friday 7th of April, 2017 and to resume on Monday 10TH of April, 2017. This is to notify the candidates and the concerned stakeholders that there will be no sale of forms, registration and biometric capturing at the various centres in which the Mock Examinations are taking place.

“This however does not preclude any candidate from going to banks, NIPOST, interswitch or Remita to procure pins for registration on Monday. This is to prevent any disruption of the process and conduct of the mock examination.

“The Mock Examinations for interested candidates taking place Saturday 8thApril, 2017 is intended to familiarise our candidates with the CBT systems and generally forecast the challenges that may be faced ahead in order to proactively address them. It is just a rehearsal for us and candidates who want to experience the situation to expect during the actual examinations,” he added.

Oloyede stated that the sale of forms, registration and biometrics at CBT Centres are to be suspended from 8:00 p.m. today till Monday, April 10, 2017.

This notice, he said, is for the strict adherence of our officers and partners throughout the Federation.

“While wishing the candidates and officials participating in the examination a successful mock exercise, we once again re-assure the candidates that there is no need for worry or anxiety. The next one week we believe is sufficient to capture the remaining candidates as about 1,000,000 applicants have successful registered”.

The JAMB boss further assured that no one would be left behind as the deadline may be extended if there were applicants who did not succeed at registering due to circumstances beyond their control.

“The Board sincerely regrets all inconveniences and state its resolve to work tirelessly to change the fortune of education in Nigerian,” he said.

Orientation course. Consequently, Management of the Scheme has scheduled the 2016 Batch A Stream 11 Orientation course to
commence from MONDAY 13th JUNE to WEDNESDAY 29th JUNE 2016 Nationwide.
Prospective Corps members are expected to log on to the NYSC Portal to commence printing of their Call-up letters from TUESDAY, 7th JUNE 2016 by 12noon as the earlier printed Call-up letters are now invalid. While those who did not subscribe for online printing should start collection of Call-up letters from THURSDAY 9th JUNE from their various institutions of graduation.
Management also wishes to thank all stakeholders in exercising patience for this new date and wishes all prospective Corps members a hitch free orientation exercise.
