CultureIfa Is Not Evil, but A Source Of Spiritual & Social Knowledge by bilms(op): 8:39am On Jan 07, 2013
IFA IS NOT A RELIGION,BUT A SOURCE OF SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE. IFA is not a religion,it is a knowledge. Or a source of knowledge. A knowledge or source of a particular kind of social and spiritual knowledge that is all encompassing and extends beyond the scope of philosophy. Understanding of It empowers a person to have some knowledge of the past, possible solution to the present challenges and the likely occurence of the future events. Upon seeing how important the Ifa knowledge is, most traditional religious practitioners seek for its knowledge and adopted it as a source of guidance. Some christian pastors and islamic clerics also do seek guidance on some complicated issue from Ifa. IFA is not a religion,it is not a cult,it is not evil, but rather, it is a source of social and spiritual knowledge and a cultural and traditional heritage of the yoruba race.

PoliticsSome Centuries Ago, If You Ask The People When Will The New Year Come? by bilms(op): 6:09pm On Jan 03, 2013
A friend Raphael Ogar Oko post this and i thought it worth sharing on nl..

Some centuries ago, if you ask the people when will the new year come? They will respond by saying that 'no one knows, except God' but they can give some hints of the changes in season to confirm a new year.

With a careful observation, those with open and eyes realized that the seasons followed a certain consistent pattern, which led to the realization that the earth was engaged in consistent rev...olution.

The calendar came as a human expression of the invisible natural revolution and rotation of the earth. From this discovery, human beings today can predict exactly when the new year will come and when the old year will end. Through the innovative work of the calendar, everyone is able to know precisely when the new year 2014 will come and when year 2013 will end.

In the same way, the clock is an expression of the daily rotation of the earth and everyone knows through the clock when today will end and when the new day of tomorrow will come. This is how the calendar and clock has provided answers to the invisible and unknown past issues of the coming of the new year and new day.

Through the Gregorian calendar, a significant population of the world has realized that the year 2013 began yesterday as 2012 ended. This is a special benefit of our age that most people who lived about 2000 years ago did not get easily.

For the past 2000 years, there have been a consistent message of a new world is coming and this old world shall pass away. Jesus spoke about and some great thinkers speculated same idea. When asked about the age and time of the coming of the new world, Jesus said 'no one knows the date or hour except God'.

The invisible coming of the new world has remained unknown to men and women and until this day, the sermon of no one knows remains with us. Shall we remain with the same old thinking despite the benefits of our age?

From my reflection on the coming of year 2013 which brought 2012 to an end and the manner in which the people of world welcomed the new year, I have been wondering if the coming of the new world will be in same manner.

On December 31, people around the world gathered in several places with high positive expectations and were looking forward to welcome the new year. As it has turned out now, there were no calamities to end the old year for the new year to come. It was a smooth transition from the old year 2012 to the new year 2013.

I therefore do not see why the expectations for the coming of a new world will be characterized by destruction, calamities and suffering of human beings by a 'loving God'. The new world will be a similar smooth transition from the present world and all people shall celebrate and welcome the new world transcending their religions, regions and resources. The new year celebration was open to all and each celebrated as much as he can.

Even though it is believed that no one knows, God will surely inspire some to examine the pattern of past old world becoming new world and guide the people of this generation to understand the exact moment of transition. Surely, the Lord God does nothing without first revealing to his servants the prophets on earth (Amos 3.7).

In this age God will reveal to his children, the citizens
PoliticsNigeria Begin At Home. by bilms(op): 5:56pm On Jan 03, 2013
NIGERIA BEGIN AT HOME. Your home is your country, you must begin your nation building from your home in 2013. If you can not be fair at home, you can't be fair at all. If you can not build your home, you can't build Nigeria. Your home is your street,it is your town,it is your state,it is your country,it is your continent and it is the world. Your home is anywhere you live,it is anyone you are with and it is anything you do. Anything you do,do it with passion, truth and sincerity.

During the electioneering period before the 2011 election, i read from one Babatunde Gbadamosi,a Governorship aspirant that said, Eko tin baje. He went further to post the amount of the igr lagos generate per month, totaling it with the federal allocation, which all amount to around close to N50b. He now challenged all the Acn supporters attacking him on fb to kindly point to the development of N5b in lagos on a monthly basis. This is apart from the loans. After about 5 days of arguement,no any acn supporter could come up with anything. May those on nairaland can help point to N5b development in lagos on a monthly basis. The truth that is very clear is that, Fashola is a total failure in lagos. Having N50b every month, without N5b worth of development. Where is the eko o ni baje? Has eko not baje already? I think we should rather say ameen to the prayer that,EKO O NI BAJE JU BA YI LO. Stop deceiving us with Eko o ni baje, because Eko tin baje. These acn people would now start comparing the development in lagos earning N50b per month with other states earning less than N5b.

Findngs show dt,d proliferatn of weapons has really affectd peace of d wrld. An average of $3.8tr is spnt annually on securty nd defense, bulk of whch goes into productn nd procuremnt of arm facilities. Nig's security budgt has shiftd up greatly as a respons 2d insecurity. Other countries mostly budgt huge amount 4 securty agnst externl attacks,bt d reverse is d case in Nig. If such amount is spnt on d alleviatn of povrty annually,i am sure dt in 5yrs,dere wld b no pvrty anywhere in Nig nd arnd d wrld. Despte d debt regime being faced by Nig nd most Africn stats, our budgt on defnse is gettn high,ds patronag has attractd more investrs into d area of arms productn, whch brngs us 2d issue of devil theory. In my opinion,d insecurty in Nig nd mst Africn states are self creatd,nd no amount of security budgt can defnd it wtout alleviatn d root causes of it,whch include, povrty, unemploymnt, marginalizatn, abuse of powr, violatn nd non rspct of human rght nd lack of youth involvmnt in govt.

Christianity EtcNo Man Of God Or Any Body Can Give You Salvation by bilms(op): 2:20pm On Dec 27, 2012
NO MAN OF GOD OR ANY BODY CAN GIVE YOU SALVATION.

I just hope some day, that people will realize that salvation is not what you can find, neither can it be given to you by anybody. The so called men of God, claiming to be sharing salvation is a means of exploiting the innocent congregation. Salvation is what you give yourself, and only you can give yourself.
