$195m Campaign Fund Scandal Rocks Buhari Campaign Organisation *Amaechi,Israali Firm in Contract Scam Few days to the Nigerian elections, African Transparency International has raised alarm over a $195 million campaign fund scam against Buhari campaign organisation ,fingering Transportation Minister ,Rotimi Amaechi and an Israeli security firm. The group at a press briefing in Abuja alleged that the presidential campaign of the All Progressive Congress is been bankrolled by an Israeli company with a contract interest with the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Transportation. Addressing a select group of journalists in Abuja, the Operation Director of the group,Demba Abdulahi disclosed that HSLI Systems and Technology Limited had a $195 security waterway contract with the Nigerian government until it was terminated last year by the Federal Government. The group alleged that prior to the termination of the contract, the company had been paid $50 million which was never refunded, submitting that the said payment is allegedly being diverted to find the President's campaign. On Monday, October 30th, 2017, Nigeria's Federal Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi stunned his audience at an event to mark World Maritime Day, as he unveiled an extensive deal at an estimated value of $195 million dollars with an Israeli company, in which he did not name (later it was revealed that the company's name is HSLI Systems and Technology Ltd.). Amaechi revealed that as a result of the deal, the unnamed company will gain complete control over Nigeria's waterways for a period of three years. Meanwhile, the Israeli company will provide training services to the Nigerian national security forces, and at the end of the three years contract, the Nigerians will regain full control of the waterways from the unnamed company. The agreement also consists of a supply of three helicopters, three aircraft, three big battle-ready ships, 12 vessels, and 20 amphibious cars to secure Nigerian waters. Minister Amaechi explained that the project would obviate the necessity for safekeeping and escort of ships and vessels crossing Nigeria’s waterways. It should be taken into consideration that Minister Amaechi is a partner and a confidant of the president, assisting him in obtaining the president's approval for the deal. The contract was finally approved and signed by the Federal Executive Council on October 2017. The statement given by Amaechi at the Internationals World Maritime Day event had soon faced strong resentment from a long list of organizations and a wave of opposition that reached the door of the House of Representatives. This led the House of Representatives to begin investigating the matter. Many clauses of the agreement remain vague, including elementary information such as the identity of the implementing company (HLSI), the exact equipment to be supplied, and how the Navy, which is responsible securing Nigeria’s waterways in general, is aware of the agreement’s full implications. In May 2018, public pressure had obligated President Buhari to announce the complete annulment of the deal, and the initiation of an investigation led by the NSA and the DIA. The fate of the $50 Million Dollars paid to HLSI as advance payment remains unknown. The scandalous deal did not stop president Buhari from appointing Minister Amaechi as his re-election campaign’s Director General. Amaechi was also the Director General of the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Committee between 2014 and 2015. The appointment immediately raised suspicion that the payment in advance given to HLSI was truly intended to finance Buhari’s 2019 election campaign.Suspicions intensified as soon as the president announced he will not use governmental funds for his re-election campaign at the closure of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on January 2019. The company behind the scandalous deal was identified as HSLI Systems and Technology Ltd., owned by Israeli-based Mitrelli Group and part of Mitrelli’s security branch. Until 2012 Mitrelli was known as the LR Group, a company established in 1985 by three Israeli Air Force pilots. The three became billionaires due to a lengthy list of deals in Angola and other countries around the world. The LR group is shrouded in mystery and its work ethics have frequently raised question marks. In 2012, the LR Group partners drifted apart and the business was divided among them. One of LR's original founder, Eytan Stibbe (50%) and the former manager of LR operations in Angola Haim Taib (50%) founded Mitrelli Group. Taib is Mitrelli's General Manager. Minister Amaechi had contracted Israeli company LR Group during his tenure as the governor of Nigerian Rivers state. On March 2012, Governor Amaechi and the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) initiated a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the LR Group (today they are called Mitrelli) to develop a $140 million dollars 3000-hectare farm settlement in Etche. On December 2014, the All Progressives Congress, (abbreviated as APC), has named Governor Amaechi as the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, an organization responsible for President Buhari’s 2015 presidential election. After the 2015 presidential elections accusations were made against Amaechi claiming that funds originally designated to the LR Group Etche farm deal were used to fund President Buhari’s elections campaign. MITERELLI $195 MILLION WATERWAYS SECURITY DEAL The waterways security deal led by Minister Amaechi and approved by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) was signed off by the Federal Executive Council on December 2017 , after receiving approval from the President. The deal’s contractor, HLSI Security Systems and Technologies , was supposed to be paid $195 Million Dollars (about 60 Billion Nigerian Naira) to procure security equipment and train Nigerian security personnel to tackle criminalities on the national waterways. The Guardian later reported that the contract consisted of three helicopters, three aircraft, three big battle-ready ships, 12 vessels, and 20 amphibious cars to secure Nigerian waters. The Federal Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who disclosed the deal at an event to mark World Maritime Day in Lagos, did not reveal the name of the Israeli firm involved in the deal. The contract was planned to commence in December 2018 and run for three cosecutive years. During this period of time the Israeli firm will train and instruct the Nigerian security forces personnel. After the expiration of the contract the operation will be handed over to the Nigerian forces. Minister Amaechi had explained that the project would obviate the need for security and escort of ships, cruisers and vessels crossing Nigeria’s waterways and added that the Israelis have assured him that after the training of the security operatives, harassment and attacks on Nigeria’s waterways will cease and that the firm will be held accountable if such attacks will persist, after the Nigerian personnel training will take place. In October 2017 Amaechi said that the Israeli company was “yet to launch because they are still buying the equipment”. Shortly after the contract was granted, critics began raising questions regarding the Nigerian administration, hiring a foreign firm to secure Nigerian waterways, claiming it could undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty and national security. Minister Amaechi accused some governmental officials, and “people making money from water” of sabotaging the government’s effort in restoring peace to Nigerian national waters. The President approved a contract of $195 million dollars and there are people in the system sabotaging that contract. The contract is to that restore security in the nation’s water.” Some civil society organizations (abbreviated as CSOs) have petitioned the speaker of the House of Representatives regarding the deal. The petition, signed by ten CSOs and dated November 14, 2017, was presented to the House of Representatives. It was entitled the ‘Petition on the Ceding of Nigerian Coastal Waterways to HLSI Security Firms and Technologies and Commercialization of the Nigerian Navy to Shorefac Consortium Ltd. (Shorefac Consortium will be technically dedicated to the maintenance of Naval vessels while also acting as a commercial partner to the Navy). They claimed that this is an aberration to Nigeria’s sovereignty to national security’. They appealed to the speaker of the House of Representatives to investigate the $195 million contract, particularly the procurement process leading to the selection of the HSLI company. On December 8, 2017, the Nigerian House of Representatives had demanded a halt to a contract. The Federal Government Chairman, Committee of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Mr. Uzoma Abonta (PDP, Abia) made the official demand. The lawmaker said the public hearing will enable the House of Representatives to have an overview of the matter and the benefits Nigeria would gain from this deal. According to him, relevant invitations have been sent to different parties including the Navy, Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Federal Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Defense, and other stakeholders to appear before the committee. Amaechi, and the Director General of NIMASA, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, were present at the hearing. The hearing could not go ahead as planned due to the fact that the Nigerian Navy, who’s statutory duties centered on securing Nigerian waterways, was not originally invited. The Committee discovered that the Navy had not received an invitation and was not prepared to respond to questions as the deal was hurriedly brokered by the minister without the involvement of the Nigerian Navy. There had been indications that the Nigerian Navy was deeply insulted for being sidelined and made his statutory duties look irrelevant as far as the surreptitious security deal is concerned. On March 2018, the House Committee on Public Petitions, which investigated the scandalous contract, revealed that the contract would violate appropriation laws because it was not based on the actual budget and recommended outright termination. The lawmakers said that HLSI was not a registered company in Israel and that Amaechi failed to supply them with documents even after they have conducted eight different hearings on the matter. On January 2018, a Don at the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology in Lagos and the leadership of the Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN) have mutually disagreed over the viability of the signed $195 million dollars maritime security contract between the Nigerian government and the Israeli firm HLSI Security Firms and Technology Inc. the President of SOAN, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun stated that the maritime security contract signed with HSLI goes against the nation's local content policy. According to Ogbeifun, “It is very dicey for a nation to mortgage her sovereignty, particularly in the area of security, to a foreign nation…the Navy, we all know, is in charge of policing our waters. So, if the Navy had been the one bringing in the Israeli partner, then our local content policy would have been respected… But the Navy didn’t bring in the foreign partner, to me the entire process is faulty.” On January 11, 2018 the House of Representatives criticized the management of Nigeria’s Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for awarding the contract to an Israeli firm, insisting that the project is a breach of the country’s internal security. The House of Representatives noted that the contract was not only a security breach but also defies the local content law, which promulgates patronizing of Nigerian goods and services. On January 31, 2018, a session convened at the National Assembly in Abuja investigating the deal was stalled after lawmakers could not lay their hands on the contract papers. The House of Representatives directed Amaechi and other stakeholders to produce the documents on the $195million waterways security contract within 72 hours. Expressing frustration of the committee, Nkem-Abonta stated, “We have been demanding these documents and we have received no responses. This is about the 8th hearing on this issue. If the contractual documents and agreements cannot be produced within the next 72 hours, we will be forced to close this matter and make our recommendations to the House.” DEAL TERMINATION, MAY 2018 In May 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari had terminated the $195 million ‘Israeli’ security contract. Mr. Amaechi had long been considered as one of President Buhari’s biggest loyalists in his cabinet, and is publicly considered crucial to the president’s re-election efforts. “The minister carried us along in the contract,” a senior naval officer told PREMIUM TIMES under anonymity. “He was able to get the president to sign the contract, but it seemed the president felt deceived after learning that so many things were wrong with it.” In a memo dispatched written by the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, he is directing the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to terminate the contract. Meanwhile, the president had also ordered the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA) to investigate how the contractor obtained security clearance for the job without an end-user certificate. The president had also ordered that the contractor would to supply items equivalent to the $50 Million Dollars upfront payment given by the Nigerians to HSLI. It was not clear whether it will be possible for Nigeria to recover any amount of money of the advanced payment given to HSLi. https://mrrightsng..com/2019/02/multi-million-dollars-campaign-fund.html?m=1 |

When People’s Trust Presidential Candidate Took Message Of Hope To Ondo The presidential candidate of People’s Trust, Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, visited Ondo State, last week, in continuation of his campaign tour of the country. HAKEEM GBADAMOSI reports the frills and thrills of the visit and his promises to the people of the state. Prior to his coming to Ondo State, last week, the belief in the state was that Saturday’s presidential election is a two-horse race between the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Vice President Abubakar Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, the visit of the presidential candidate of the People’s Trust (PT), Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, to the state’s capital was historic as it clearly changed the perception of the people and also reshaped the opinion of some electorate in the state about his political party. Olawepo-Hashim, did not only sell his candidacy to the people, he was also able to draw their attention to his programmes and plans for the state, nay the country, if elected as the president. Apart from this, the People’s Trust presidential hopeful displayed his preparedness for qualitative governance and his determination to give the two major contenders for the presidential seat a good run for their money ahead the election. Hashim-Olawepo, during the visit, gave an impression of himself as a candidate who is better positioned as a credible alternative to the old order. He also exuded confidence that he looks set to pull surprises in the forthcoming election, especially in the northern part of the country where the other two leading candidates hailed from. Addressing the crowd at the popular Oba Adesida Road, the venue of the campaign, Olawepo-Hashim, noted that the people are angry because there is a pervading hunger in the land. He therefore promised to change the face of the Nigerian economy within his first six months in office by using his experience to resuscitate and improve the economy. Reeling out his programme for the people of the country, the People’s Trust presidential candidate promised to tackle the security challenges in the country by establishing the National Guard as part of measures to address the challenge, if elected as president. He blamed the APC administration for allegedly failing to address the continued internal security breaches, while promising that he would overhaul the security architecture to make Nigeria a safer place for all. “Security is not just a question of spending bigger budgets but about having the right structures and strategies. As it is, the armed forces of the Nigerian Federation is overstretched and distracted by deployments for internal security operations. “I think it is time for Nigeria to have a National Guard. I am going to put up a National Guard as president of Nigeria. My reasons and justifications are self-evident. Our internal security questions have graduated to the level of insurrection. We are now having well-trained militias perhaps, having more training than the police. But, probably, you may not need full scale military action to handle them,” he said. He also promised to create four million jobs annually, if elected and vowed to eradicate cancer by establishing a special programme to fight the menace. He said, “I am somebody who knows how to create jobs. I will create jobs for your children. I will create jobs for the youth and women. I will create four million jobs every year by removing the obstacles to investment in Nigeria because it is only the private sector that can create jobs, not the government.” The presidential candidate, who urged Nigerians to support his candidacy for rapid economic development that would lift the masses out of abject poverty, noted that about 70 per cent of Nigerians voters are yet to decide on whom to cast their vote for among the presidential candidates, few days to the elections. He however said his party is banking on the undecided voters and youths who he said would be voting for the first time for his victory. According to him, “there are 15 million Nigerian youths who are going to be voting for the first time and they don’t have affinities with these two parties [APC and PDP]. “Some few days to the elections, more than 70 per cent of the electorate are still wondering who they are going to vote for. They have been examining the candidates they are going to vote for and what these candidates promised to offer. Among all the alternative parties, the People’s Trust is the biggest. But I tell you that this election is still very open even though its 10 days (then) to the election. “These parties also have number of dissatisfactions while some of them are in these parties to only vote for their governorship candidates and National Assembly candidates and not necessarily to vote for their presidential candidates because not every person that are in APC or PDP are bad people as we still have some good people within these parties. This is one of the reasons I said, if elected, we will form a Government of National Unity which will include the good people in APC and PDP.” He urged the people not to allow the various endorsements by some major groups across the country to alter their choice of candidate, saying these endorsements would not translate to victory, adding “to go and corner two or three people and get them to make a statement on your behalf cannot be taken seriously or transform to votes. I don’t see these endorsements as solid one. Don’t be deceived by these endorsements, but vote for the right candidate.” He also cautioned Nigerians against voting for neither PDP nor APC in the forthcoming election, claiming that both parties have failed Nigerians. He further described the two major political parties as “failed alternatives” and not the best for the country at this critical period. He advised eligible voters to secure their future by voting for his People’s Trust party in the coming elections, as he pledged to reposition the country and turnaround the nation’s fortune. “The presidential election is not about party, but about candidates and the future of this country. The two parties have failed in that regard, but we give hope that, if we come in, Nigeria will be better”, he said as he urged the people not to sell their conscience. He noted that the hunger in the land, which he said was designed through some policies of the government of the day, can push the voters to the wall to want to sell their vote. He told the people that “vote buying is very criminal and immoral because some people, through their policies, drive the people of the country to poverty and then start to entice them with money during election time. It is a very horrible thing and highly immoral. The money they are bringing out is the legitimate money of the people. If the people cannot refuse or reject their money, they are not under any obligation too to vote for them.” Olawepo-Hashim also disclosed that he had no plan to step down for either the APC presidential candidate, President Buhari or Atiku Abubakar of the PDP or form any coalition with the political parties the duo are representing. He expressed confidence that the two candidates are beatable because of their parties’ woeful performances since the inception of democracy in 1999. He said, “Nigeria is a very interesting country and I don’t know any country where other parties candidate are pressured to step down. I think it is a coinage here because in a multi-party democracy, nobody steps down; you win some seat and, on the basis of this, you can form coalition, based on a common programme after the election.” The Director General of the People’s Trust Presidential Council, Alhaji Habu-Fari, who is also a former Transport Minister, also noted that the country is well-endowed with natural resources and it is abnormal for the citizenry to be wallowing in poverty. He vowed that his party would introduce policies that would end insecurity and economic hardship, if the party’s candidate is elected as president. He said the party was fine-tuning its strategy in all geopolitical zones on how to wrestle power from the ruling APC, adding that the People’s Trust had the highest number of representation in constituency nominations. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/190322/ |

3 Days to 2019 election, PT’s Hashim remain most popular Presidential candidate online The weekly social media rating of presidential candidates engagements on the popular online platform, Facebook, on Tuesday showed that the candidate of Peoples Trust (PT), Mr. Gbenga Hashim is still leading as most popular Presidential candidate online 3 days to the 2019 Presidential election. The latest data shows that Mr. Hashim leads the incumbent President and All Progressive Congress APC’s Presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and major opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Mr Hashim who first overtook President Buhari and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on 10th December 2018 has remained on top with the highest engagements on social media consecutively ever since. Going by the data on Tuesday, February 12th, 2019 in Abuja, Gbenga-Hashim recorded Facebook engagements in excess of 63,000 this week, while Atiku Abubakar who came behind him, recorded 56,000+. Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari is far behind with only 6000+ engagements. The statistics also showed that the Presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Kingsley Moghalu, the candidate of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) ,Fela Durotoye and other others were trailing behind. Data analysts involved in the polling project said that the data on each of the candidates’ were realistic because “Facebook represents the broad spectrum of voters who will vote in the February poll.” According to them, “increasing engagements imply voters’ growing interest in the candidates while a decreasing result reflects voters’ disenchantment. A static return means a candidate at a crossroads in the campaign.” The analysts said in their report that Olawepo-Hashim’s growing engagement rating is a measure of voters’ interest in him as a third force alternative. “He is no longer part of the pack of third-party candidates. He has moved ahead to emerge as a real alternative to both Buhari and Atiku. This is a game changer from data perspective,” according to Segun Seriki, the lead analyst for the project. “The latest data point to a major upset within the struggle for Nigeria’s presidency, we are making the report available to all the major candidates.” “Our latest data reflect a major upset in the battle for the Presidency. It is no longer a two- horse race. There is now a third force that is overtaking the old alternatives. We are still following the data but for now, Olawepo-Hashim has pulled the impossible to maintain an eight weeks lead over President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar,”he said. https://mrrightsng..com/2019/02/3-days-to-2019-election-pts-hashim.html?m=1 |

Middle Belt Leaders, Groups Restate Support For Olawepo- Hashim Barely a few days to the presidential election, leaders of the Middle Belt and groups in the region have restated their support for Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, the presidential candidate of the People’s Trust (PT). The leaders who addressed hundreds of groups that converged on Abuja took a swipe at politicians who were causing divisions within their fold. They insisted that Olawepo-Hashim remained their choice for the presidency and would vote for him in the February 16 pesidential election. https://www.independent.ng/middle-belt-leaders-groups-restate-support-for-olawepo-hashim/amp/ |

tomtos88:The least you can do is to use your brain, i.e if you have one. I know you should ordinarily be an intelligent person, but even if you are a fool, there are times you have to seat back and ask yourself if you are making sense, or if the person you are quoting is making you look foolish. Olawepo Hashim just one week to election restated his commitment to the nation and made it clear that he would never step down for anybody. Not Buhari ,not Atiku. He is the 3rd Force Presidential Candidate providing credible and competent alternative to the nation. Even though Atiku came out to claim middlebelt has endorsed him, the middlebelt came out yesterday to insist Hashim is their candidate. Today, they blasted Atiku and reiterated their support for Hashim, while Hashim maintained that he his never going to stepped down for Atiku despite all pressure. Now, despite all these clear information available to you, your brain couldn't process them on your own. You are still ignorantly quoting a non-existent politician looking for what to eat. Must you look foolish to criticise a patriotic citizen offering you a better alternative? |

2019: We Won’t Stop Supporting Olawepo Hashim ― Middle Belt Elders ELDERS of the Middle Belt Region under the auspices of the Middle Belt Elders Forum and some groups in the region declared late on Monday that they would continue to support the presidential ambition of the candidate of the Peoples Trust (PT) in the February 16, elections. The leaders, at a meeting in Abuja late on Monday, said that the region would deliver its votes to PT’s Olawepo Hashim, notwithstanding efforts aimed at dividing the people. The groups, led by a former chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (rtd) insisted that Olawepo-Hashim remained their choice for the presidency in the February 16 election. ALSO READ 2019 election : I am not ready to step down ― Olawepo Hashim Besides Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (rtd.) other leaders of the Middle Belt at the meeting included, Dr Musa Moda, Elizabeth Jibrin, Dr Emmanuel Enecheyo, Dr Ene, Captain Agada Joe (retd.), and Hon. Jonathan Asake. The elders further declared that they had resolved to leave no stone unturned in actualising the political emancipation of the region. According to Dan Suleiman, “This is very heart-warming because there are some events happening these days which begin to give one doubt as to whether Middle Belt is splitting. “Last Sunday this meeting was called and another meeting was called elsewhere and some of our Middle Belt elders went there. Today the same thing happened. This is not by accident. “I am beginning to feel that there is an effort to side-line Middle Belt or to side-track Middle Belt. We have to be very careful that we are not dragged to the sidelines.” Suleiman claimed that the Middle Belt had originally reached a decision alongside the groups in the Southern part of the country to produce a Christian presidential candidate. The Middle Belt Elders also indicated that the reported Middle Belt endorsement of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, was an attempt to divide the Middle Belt ahead of the presidential election. The leader of Coalition of Middle Belt Groups, Mr Suleman Dauda Sukukum, said that the groups would work assiduously for the success of Olawepo-Hashim in the February 16 polls. He described Olawepo as a bridge builder and unifier of the Northern and southern Nigeria, adding that the presidential hopeful is the “contemporary amalgamation of the North and the south .” An excited Olawepo-Hashim appealed to Nigerians to remain peaceful and united even as he urged them to vote for a credible alternative that would uplift Nigeria to greater heights. https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/190196/ |

2019: BETWEEN OLAWEPO HASHIM, BUHARI AND ATIKU https://mrrightsng..com/2019/02/2019-between-olawepo-hashim-buhari-and.html?m=1 There is a wise saying that goes thus, "only foolish people take the same action that has consistently failed them and expect positive outcome". Nigeria today is at a crossroad, no thanks to the incompetent and failed leadership of the political elites that have been taking turns among themselves to enslave Nigerians since 1999, I mean both the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress. These two parties and their candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari respectively, have been going about spending public funds to convince Nigerians to vote them in the February 16 Presidential election even though they both have damaged antecedents and they naturally should be begging a judge to reduce their jail terms if it were in saner climes. Atiku Abubakar was Vice President for 8 years and was notorious for looting everything he came in contact with, including funds for Petroleum Development Trust Fund. His colleague in looting and American Congressman Jefferson was jailed on account of bribery he did with Atiku. Atiku Abubakar shamelessly used money to pay his way during PDP primaries in an open show of shame just to outwit his opponents. This man is completely damaged and a far cry of what a sane society needs. The only credit he has to his name is endemic corruption. The incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari is even worse than his colleague flying PDP flag. He is a discredited bigot, ethic jingoist, clueless leader and one that has divided the country even further. This man has destroyed whatever is left of Nigeria and has elevated mediocrity. He has no single legacy project to his credit. Sadly, the association of corrupt Nigerians are rooting for either of them. Thank God for Middle belt leaders that stood their ground and endorsed the candidacy of Mr Gbenga Olawepo- Hashim, the candidate of peoples trust, a proven entrepreneur, grassroot mobiliser and businessman. A man with legitimate business to his name, among them are; Transnational Energy Nigeria Limited, where he serves as Chairman, Transnational Energy Corporate United States, where be serves as President. Mr Gbenga Olawepo is also the President Bresson Power, the promoters of Magboro Power Plant in Obafemi-Owode local government, Ogun state. I urge Nigerian youths and other young people to say a big NO to failed experiments and embrace the true candidate that will not represent the interest of the corrupt class but those of the poor masses for a better Nigeria. 2019: Middle Belt leaders, Groups insist on Olawepo Hashim, blast Atiku ...as Dan Suleiman uncovers plot to split the region https://mrrightsng..com/2019/02/2019-middle-belt-leaders-groups-insist.html?m=1 Barely a few days to the presidential election, leaders of the Middle Belt and groups in the region have reiterated their support for the candidate of the People's Trust (PT), Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim. The leaders who addressed hundreds of groups that converged on Abuja took a swipe at politicians who are allegedly causing divisions within their fold. They insisted that Olawepo-Hashim remained their choice for the presidency and would vote for him in the scheduled February 16 election. The Middle Belt leaders included, among others, Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (retd.), Dr Musa Moda, Elizabeth Jibrin, Dr Emmanuel Enecheyo, Dr Ene, Captain Agada Joe (retd.), and Hon. Jonathan Asake. They said they had resolved to leave no stone unturned in actualizing the political emancipation of the region. They claimed that the reported Middle Belt endorsement of the the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, was an attempt to divide the Middle Belt ahead of the presidential election. The coalition of other groups in the region led by Mr. Suleman Dauda Sukukum pledged to work assiduously for the success of Olawepo-Hashim . Dr.Moda described Olawepo as a bridge builder and unifier of the Northern and southern Nigeria, saying he is the contemporary " amalgation of the North and the south ." Excited Olawepo-Hashim appealed to Nigerians to remain peaceful and united even as he urged them to vote for a credible alternative that would uplift Nigeria to greater heights. Chairman of Middle Belt Elders Forum and former Governor of Plateau State, Air Commodore Suleiman (retd.) said the time had come for the Middle Belt to remain united and focused for the region to progress. According to him, "recent happenings in the Middle Belt have indicated that there are moves to divide us." He said the Middle Belt was dragged into supporting a particular candidate, Atiku Abubakar, contrary to their earlier stand of supporting Olawepo-Hashim of the People’s Trust. Suleiman, however, expressed delight that many groups in the Middle Belt were now in the vanguard of propagating their political ideals and choices. He tasked them to move Middle Belt forward as well as encourage the unity and progress of the region. According to him, "This is very heart warming because there are some events happening these days which begin to give one doubt as to whether Middle Belt is splitting. "Last Sunday this meeting was called and another meeting was called elsewhere and some of our Middle Belt elders went there. Today the same thing happened. This is not by accident. "I am beginning to feel that there is an effort to sideline Middle Belt or to sidetrack Middle Belt. We have to be very careful that we are not dragged to the sideline." Suleiman said that the decision from the outset which was reached in concert with the south of the country was for the Middle Belt to produce a Christian presidential candidate. He stated that the group was given four names from which to choose, adding the elders deliberated and picked one of the four names submitted to them. Suleiman further said, "They say that's a Middle Belt affair. But what happened next? The same people they said they didn't want before, they started inviting them for interviews. We began to see that their agenda in the Southwest was how to get the Vice President. "It was no longer Middle Belt get us a president. But if we do, it is obvious that a president from the Middle Belt would be a Christian. Was that our original plan? No." He recalled the contributions of Middle Belt leaders, particularly Jonah Jang and himself in the actualization of democracy in Nigeria and advised against effort to sideline Middle Belt. He also called on the region to stand together to frustrate such effort to sideline the region. Suleiman said the election on February 16 was a step towards the actualization of the region's agitation for the Presidency, assuring that this would continue in 2023. According to him, "Some of us are old but will not die until we see the emergence of a Middle Belter as president. "These are people who are saying let’s follow him but has Atiku ever called a meeting of the Middle Belt for once, to consult with them? This is the second time he is doing that because, although he is Fulani, he is from the Middle Belt. "Whatever we would do to preserve the ticket of the Middle Belt on February 16, let’s do it." The elder statesman predicted that the February 16 election would be a run off and urged the Middle Belt to work for the success of Olawepo-Hashim. End |
