Dan-Musa Steps Down for Olawepo-Hashim in Race for ANN Ticket

By Sufuyan Ojeifo

The presidential aspiration of frontline contestant on the platform of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, got a boost yesterday as another top contender and veteran of presidential politics, Alhaji Ibrahim Eyitayo Dan-Musa, shelved his ambition in favour of Olawepo-Hashim.

Olawepo-Hashim, who had earlier emerged victorious as one of the foursuccessful contenders of the fourteen screened by the elders of the Middle Belt Forum about four months ago, was in high spirits on Friday as Dan-Musa described him as a purposeful politician.

Dan-Musa, in a letter he submitted to the National Chairman of the ANN, Pastor Emma Dania, to intimate him with his decision to withdraw from the race and team up with Olawepo-Hashim, said he consulted with his teeming supporters nationwide before taking the action.

He said his supporters would be mobilized to ensure that Olawepo-Hashim clinched the presidential ticket of the party, adding that the same effort would be invested in the February 16, 2019 presidential election to ensure his victory.

Dan-Musa described Olawepo-Hashim as “a proactive politician who understands the dynamics of Nigerian politics. He is a very vibrant youth who has been part of the politics of the forth republic where we had both, as foundation leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, played prominent roles. He was a foundation deputy national publicity secretary of the party.”

Olawepo-Hashim said Dan-Musa’s decision to withdraw from the race and support him was service to Nigeria and the ANN.

According to him, “You have not stepped down for me but for Nigeria and our great party. You have made a great contribution to the party.

You have demonstrated the spirit that the ANN is made of.

“This development is very important to me because Alhaji Dan-Musa, a prominent politician and an accomplished entrepreneur, has structures nationwide, which he is deploying in support of our campaign to rescue Nigeria. We will all campaign together and form government together by the grace of God.”

Adamawa SDP faction defects to ANN

A faction of the Social Democratic party in Adamawa, led by its former chairperson, Ibrahim Bebeto, and other aggrieved members that included a governorship candidate under the party’s platform, Abel Behora, have dumped the SDP for the Alliance for a New Nigeria.

Their decision to dump the party was taken against their alleged infiltration and hijack of the party by Chief Emmanuel Bello, a governorship aspirant under the SDP in Adamawa State.

Bebeto who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved members said the mass exodus of members was as a result of the alleged brazen abuse and violation of the party’s constitution by undesirable elements that have infiltrated the party and thus hijacked it from those who sacrificed to build the party.

He said the crisis rocking the SDP started following the rejection of Emmanuel Bello, the SDP governorship aspirant, who demanded that the party executives should adopt him as the sole candidate of the party.

The members said they had no option but to leave the SDP for another party after it learnt there were plans to frustrate their participation in the 2019 election.

2019: ANN vows to retire Buhari
…promises $4 trillion economy

The Presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has said he would retire President Muhammdu Buhari next year by defeating him in the presidential election.
The presidential candidate also promised to revamp the Nigeria economy to the turn of $4 trillion for the next 10 years.
Olawepo-Hashim, who spoke after obtaining his presidential nomination forms, said the party would immediately launch the New Economic Development Programme (NEDP), which he said would return Nigeria’s economy to the path of prosperity.
The nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) had to $568 billion in 2014, the highest in Africa, but entered recession in 2016 and has been experiencing slow in growth.
However, the ANN presidential candidate said, the nation’s economy can witness a great turnaround within a space of 10 years with careful planning and implementation of NEDP.
He stated that the ANN will grow Nigeria’s GDP from the present $510billion to $4 trillion in 10 years.
According to the aspirant, who is the Chairman of Oilworld, an oil exploration and Energy company, with the NEDP, the Per Capital Income (PCI) of the average Nigerian would move between $16,000 to $18, 000 within 10 years, adding that Nigeria would then be at per with middle-income countries like Malaysia, among others.
Olawepo-Hashim also stated that the NEDP would attract an estimated $2trillion to infrastructure sector within 10 years, adding that the programme would create jobs from manufacturing, industrialisation as well as linking up industries with solid minerals and agricultural sector.
On 2019, he stated that the ANN believed that President Muhammadu Buhari has attained the peak of his capacity, adding that the party would help give him a befitting retirement.

He said: “I respect President Muhammadu Buhari as a father. He is our baba and we are his children. I will not insult him because we don’t insult people as a party and where I come from. But the truth is that President Buhari needs to go and rest. ANN is practically prepared to give him a befitting rest.

“I am therefore better placed to bring the country back together and most assured that I can get the job done given my record of accomplishment.

“I will restructure the economy from a dependent one to a self-reliant one, by investing in iron and steel, research and development and other critical sectors of the economy.”

National Chairman of the party, Pastor Emmanuel Dania, who received Olawepo and his supporters, said that the ANN was coming to deliver Nigeria.

He said: “We are coming to deliver to Nigerians a New Nigeria.”

He assured Nigerians that the party would not engage in act of vote-buying which he said was becoming the order of the day at elections.

Being a union leader does not translate to being a good head of state or government.

Ask Oshiomole
Being a national student leader means having leadership and mobilization skills. Being a successful global business mogul with investment in seven countries and having traveled to 29 countries in the process means having required skills to transform the economy to a $4trillion economy and being a frontline democratic leader means having the required modern understanding to merge political, economic and security demand to achieve prosperous nation. Meanwhile, the people that accompanied Mr Hashim to ANN headquarters to obtain the nomination form are party chairmen, women and youth leaders, aswell GOH2019 coordinators in the 62 wards in FCT. This shows grassroot presence.

Those wonderful crowd you saw are just very few of the selected people, they are not hired crowd.

Nigerian electorates wants a popular grassroot leader like Olawepo Hashim.

GE to support Bresson’s 500MW power project in Nigeria

Succour may be on the way for electricity consumers in the country, as the Global Energy giant, General Electric (GE), has thrown its weight behind Bresson’s plans to provide 500 Mega Watts (MW) of electricity to the national grid by 2017.

The Managing Director of Gas power Systems, Mohammed Mijindadi who disclosed this over the weekend during Bresson AS working visit to the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, added that the project has become a priority.

Mijindadi said: “The project has tremendous economic value, and that is why GE Capital is involved in structuring finances for Bresson 500MW project”,

Bresson Nigeria Limited Chairman, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim had earlier assured the Vice President that the energy to be generated would come from Bresson Flexible Power Initiative and its Magboro power plant in Ogun state.

He said the capacity, which would be available in phase one from second quarter of 2017, would represent 10 per cent of the current available national capacity.

Its not about lying, you don't get, the political and economic atmosphere calls for a solid short term goals. Even the party in power won't make such promises. What can you do in the next four years if elected, nobody is interested in 10years plan, your campaign should emphatically based on that fours years not even on 2nd tenure.
Be sincere to the people, on economic devolve powers to the federating states, let them generate and pay certain percentage to the FG. On power let the state generate, distribute and pay tax to FG. On security allow state policing. These things will have quantum effects on the economy and lives of my people.
Any serious political party must have a long term plan. The economy of a country cannot be done in isolation of its reality. he promised to move Nigeria's economy to a $4trillion economy in 10 years to be at per with middle income countries like malaysia, which we have slightly better economy than at independence. That's a target. But before 10years, the economy would have been set to approach that target, starting from his first year. So, the idea is to give Nigeria a larger picture of the plan.

In 5 years, obviously the economy will hit $2 trillion. But that doesn't take us to be at par with middle income countries. he has a target to get us to a relatively comfortable position to get us out of poverty and based on their plan, that can be achieved in 10years.
