Symphony007: i guess the jihadist and terrorists being killed includes the over 3,000 children that the "legitimate" government has killed. This is just a no brainer, i am not supporting anybody is this crisis because they are of the same feather but i have a problem with one side pretending and trying to take a moral highground.

And those are just conservative figures.. I am in the same boat as you, Neither america(who took thousands of innocent life in Iraq and Afghanistan.) nor Russia (who always stand for tyranny) should be pointing a finger at each other. As much as I love the U.S I know how devious and secretive they can get.

I personally don't think the igbo culture is weak, they're just not teaching the children born outside of igboland the language and customs. Can one say that the Yoruba culture is weak because of some parents who decide to speak only English to their children outside of Nigeria? No. Same applies here.

delors:
So you would rather have everyone talk like who? Hon Pat Obahiagbon? Desmond sounds cool as far as I can tell. Nollywood dudes sound cool (well, except for that bad guy always playing the role of a hired killer but hardly kills a fly. Cant remember his name now). The ladies are the cause of Nollywood wahala. The Tonto Dickehs and co, twisting English to make it even more confusing.
truth is, if some of these dudes speak with accents, it is probably because they lived abroad for a long time and imbibed the intonation. It is always the case. Ice Prince doesnt rap with an accent that much. The other day he did a weather presentation on a TV station in the States, he sounded natural although with words like 'whadup peeps', 'hey man', etc Listen to MI's songs, especially his early ones, listen to the way he pronounces his words, he didnt use any foreign accent but his pronunciation of words were different. He doesnt even speak pidgin that much. Listen to Banky W, his pronunciations are on point (and some peeps think he forms an accent). Listen to Sinzu, Mode 9, Godwon, etc those guys spent time abroad, so their pronunciations are different (or better than the average Nigerian's). Tha's not accent, that's proper pronunciation.

Well maybe to you they sound cool, but everytime I hear that "nollywood" accent (because God knows that a normal person without a speech impediment is not suppose to talk like that) I just want to do a facepalm. You want to know what I find to be really amusing? It's the fact that you have all this Nigerian people putting on an American/British accent and they don't even get it right. Nigerians have to listen closely to understand what they're saying, and lord knows that Americans are puzzled with the faked up dialect. Before you start to talk about how some people have changed their accent because of the time they spent abroad, I'll just like to use me as a case study I left Nigeria at a very young age and I have been living in the US for quite sometime now(which is kind of an understatement) and I haven't changed my accent. I'll also like to point out that there was a time Desmond Elliot talked with a Nigerian accent, and all of a sudden (I think late 2005) he switched from saying "person" to "purrson". So what happened there? Did he drink some kind of magical American water that made his accent change overnight ? And don't give me that B.S about how English is suppose to be pronounced a certain way, go tell that to shahrukh khan and all the other Indian actors who despite their international exposures still keep their Indian accent. Everyone trying to form an American accent is just as bad as the FOBS who pronounce "water" as " warra".

Lmao! @op ikr!!. That's the exact reason I don't watch nollywood movies anymore. I remember the first time I showed my akata friends a naija movie(Desmond Elliot was the lead actor, I think) and they were all like "why is he talking like that?" I busted into laughter at how embarrassing it was. I don't know why naija people think having an American accent is the proper way to speak. I especially HATE how people like ice prince put on that "I am so hood" wanna be accent, everytime I hear him rap I just want to shut him up and just go like "No, just no." "Don't ever do that again in your life!"

This looks wayyy too freaking staged to be real. His face is dirty, but miraculously his hair looks clean and washed. They probably rubbed some engine oil on his face and told him to go "pose" with the machines. Maybe next time they should make it a little bit more convincing by rubbing some dirt on his hair, but good try though.

Don't think I'm in Nigeria because it's a great country. Nigeria's only relevant in the world because of the oil under its ground.

Billyonaire, the problem is that the minute they hear the word ''nuclear'', they think ''mass destruction and calamity''. Ok tell me something. We have right now as we speak at least 3 NUCLEAR REACTORS working and functioning efficiently in Nigeria and have done so for the last 20 years at least, correct?

How many of these posters KNOW this? Probably less than 1%.

One poster asked ''what does Nigeria know about nuclear energy?'' I couldn't help but laugh. grin I actually have an uncle who is a nuclear scientist and is a consultant to the Chinese govt in atomic energy. There are many other Nigerians like him. Yet one goat, sitting behind his cheap computer is asking ''what does Nigeria know about...''?? Really sometimes it's best to ignore them.

Of course there are legitimate reasons to question the establishment of a nuclear power plant. But the reasons being adduced by most here are naive. Someone said ''ah, we don't have constant light, yet they want to build nuclear plant.''

Does India have constant light? Nope.

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-06-07/chandigarh/39814438_1_voltage-fluctuation-power-breakdown-outage

http://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2013/01/14/the-cost-of-power-cuts-to-india-inc/

Does Pakistan have constant light? Nope.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/jun/19/pakistan-power-cut-riots

But these countries are solid nuclear powers. Even launching space rockets and thinking of sending men to the moon etc. Plus their economies are growing. They haven't come out and said ''ah! We don't have light. We still have bad roads. Let us solve all those problems first BEFORE.''. Instead, they diversify their productivity and output in all areas. They KNOW they need to COMPETE on several levels of engagement with the world. That they can't afford to go ''one step at a time''. I applaud Nigerian leaders for thinking likewise for the Giant of Africa.

As for the environmental impact of nuclear plants, the mention of Fukushima is rather inappropriate as I believe that was caused by an earthquake/tsunami event, and Nigeria is not on a faultline for earthquakes, which should protect us against such catastrophes.

Nevertheless, we need to study very carefully all the possible negative eventualities arising from such a move - and not be afraid to ditch the idea if it proves too risky - and weigh them against the potential benefits.

It seems you don't know the difference between a nuclear reactor and a nuclear powerplant? Just to clarify things, Nuclear power plants uses Nuclear reactors (Which you have stated Nigeria has 3 of them) to generate electricity. And you seem to be all over the place with this your comment sir.. What does a nuclear power plant have to do with nuclear weapons and sending people to the moon?? We are talking A, you are talking C. Go take several seats please. And on the fukushima example, would you like us to give you another example in which a Nuclear power plant went wrong, and affected an entire population. It's called Chernobyl. Go reasearch that.

I mentioned that the nuclear plants could be built at regions thousands of kilometers away from habitable region, but even without that, Russians have one the best nuclear technologies in the world, they will build, manage and maintain the plants and sell the energy generated to Bulk Traders. Its not really as fragile as people think it is, it is a cheap source of energy.

As if it is russia's country right?? Why would russia do that? Isn't their job to Build?, i don't think management and trading will be part of their job listing. Anyways Russia doesn't care about Nigeria that much.. trust me, if anything they are planning to annihilate Nigerians. You talk about the nuclear plants being built "at regions thousands of kilometers away from habitable region", aren't you aware of fukushima sir? and how its particles will likely reach U.S shore in the near future... There is nothing safe or "cheap" about a nuclear power plants my friend... There is wayyyyy too much risk involved.

Billyonaire: I can understand the fears of many people here, especially the very ignorant ones.

Nuclear Energy is the future.

The Nuclear Plant can be located in the deserts of Borno or the Chad Basin even the rain forests of Cross River thousands of kilometers away from habitable zones.

This is one source of energy that has abundance of fuel in Nigeria and is not dirty like coal, not fluctuating waterflow like Dams and not lost to vandalism like gas.

Should we build nuclear power plants, then we can also harness Uranium with other isotopes for other uses.

No country can dream of being a world power without Nuclear Energy Savvy, except we wanna remain a boi boi nation for ever.

IT'S A BAD IDEA!especially for a developing nation like Nigeria, that has a problem with corruption and money mismanagement. Nuclear power plants are very expensive and in order to have one, a country has to be financially capable. Add to the health hazard issue, strange pathogens in water, e.t.c it is like a train wreck waiting to happen, either way there won't be a good ending. Even developed nations are running away from the idea.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Partners Russia To build A Nuclear Power Station! by Bimpss(f): 5:15pm On Sep 08, 2013
If this is true, then Nigeria is asking for huge trouble. God, they haven't even fix the bad roads that people drive on everyday and they are worrying themselves with nuclear power plants. Handle the problems at hand first before you involve yourself with bigger dilemmas. It's like they have a death wish or something .

Nigga sounds pained.

Btw, what's with Nigerians and using "am" instead of "I'm"?

The reason why most Nigerians write "I'm" as "am" is because that's the way they pronounce it. If they pronounced the word like they are suppose to ( which is "I am". ) They won't be trying to take the easy way out which happens to be wrong.

obadiah777: not my predictions Sire. biblical predictions. its all in the bible
1-america will attack syria and blast it into the stone ages isaiah 17 vs 1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

2-russia ( gog ) gets involved and destroys the israeli people ( ezekiel 38 and 39 ) and then they and america start nuking each other. iran ( medes ) joins russia, china ( king of the east ) joins russia. north korea joins russia. they are nuking each other. firing all kinds of nukes. when the eurozone see that russia is winning they would join russia ( rev 17 ) and then they would all fire their nukes on usa. when the nukes stop flying america will have been flattened and not a soul survive ( rev 18 ). all major cities in the world would be destroyed by nukes. all western nations would be destroyed and they would have no food or water. hence the second leg of the war will begin immediately. all the surviving countries would unite against africa ( the only land left unscathed relatively ) to take the land for themselves. it would be a bloody war in which two thirds of the population of africa would be destroyed and killed ( zech 13 ).

3-after it is all said and done africa will be victorious but lets take nigeria for example with 180 million people. two thirds is 120 million. 120 million people in nigeria would be killed. only 60 million would be left standing.
You sir are either a genius or a psychic! That makes a whole heck of a lot of sense to me. Bravo prophet obadiah.
