Yoruba's and Benin have already been existing separately long before oduduwa came.

Oduduwa only came across the present Yoruba in ile Ife when he was wandering around the forest. The people found him and took him in.

The first word he spoke to them is "ile Ife" a corrupted version of Benin "I've run to wealth".

After he was banished, this " ogiamen" family wanted to take over the ruler ship of Benin but was resisted so that caused caused in the then "igodomigodo".

Oduduwa told the Yoruba's he met at ile Ife that he was banished and was from " ogiso " which in Benin means "king of the sky".

Every thing oduduwa said can still be confirmed here in Benin, even the ogiamen family is still here trying to claim over the throne.
