imperiouxx: Mrs. biofem2000 welcome back. It's being some time.Imperious, how are you doing? I see you guys are doing a good job here. Yvette, you are the best. I talk about you like you're real..... I don't mean it in a bad way. You'll always here me say Yvette said..... When I'm talking about NL tips. Good job! |
With brown butts, he clearly is not a Nigerian. He/she has the brain of a seven year old. May be you can't write SAT. May be you need to grow some brain. I'll say it again, go to therapy. You need help but you can't get it here. |
jiraiyasage: How do you advice I go about the SAT? Cuz i'm not that bright in maths buh English is not a problem jiraiyasage: Hey pls I wanna apply for a university in new jersey and I need someone to walk me through the whole admission process, this is my first time and i'm starting to get jitters due to the stuff i've read on this thread!!!! I need advice pls jiraiyasage: Hi can anybody tell me where they runzz sat in nigeria?Boy ( or girl), you need to get yourself into therapy. Better still, keep on with the visa lottery thing. You'll get better chances with that than 'runs' on this thread. Na way o...... This is sad. SAT runs?...... Get out of therapy and get in the library. The library is where the runs are happening. |
Mystiqme: Mrs Biofem, you don tey for Yankee.I never tey too much o my person. But, Oh no! What? So its not the "xxxx runs to school" I thought he was using the wrong verb. I pity the "runs" guy. My advice is stay away from the US embassy in Nigeria. Besides, this is not the place to ask such question. ![]() |
Temidayo112: Hello House,And what in the name of NL is "runs"? |
eduson002: Welcome back ma and conrats!Thank you sir. |
walex57: Congrats to her...na you be our mama for here nah, so anybody you recommend must get the VisaWhat!!!!! Mama what ??Common now. How have you been? This place still feels like home. NL is the best thing that happened to genuine Nigerian students. |
Happy new year Nairalanders!!,!,!,!,!,!,! I got lost a couple of weeks ago... Well I was missing on the conversations and every time I try to post it seems there's something else everyone's talking about. Oh we'll.... And I've been lazy too. So, my sister inlaw got her visa this morning. I passed on the nairaland bug to her like I did for my sister and brother and.... Voila.... It worked. She was asked a few questions. When did your brother( DH) get to the US? What does he do ( DH is the sponsor)? Why did you chose accounting? What did you do after your NYSC? She said it was less than two minutes. The general advise I gave her was to not talk like a desperado, don't give the impression that you must get to the US tonight, be confident, appeal to the officers emotions when you get the opportunity, relax, smile, it is easier than having to answer to God, do not lie however, do not sell yourself short. Spice up your experience, talk like a professional, don't talk like you just rolled out of bed, talk like you know what you are doing/ saying. Don't say I finished from Unijos, or UI...it is University of Jos,MAALU ( oops!!!!!!!), University of Ibadan, the Polytechnic Ibadan ( not Ibadan poly or Mapol. Have a great freezing day! .....well... It's way below freezing on the east coast. Brutally cold! |
Chi-town Base:Where`s the emotion for really big eyes? Hi Nairalanders. I`ve been away because of my tripple life. My son turns 7 today (sigh..... now he has the liberty to think I`m not as smart as his first grade teacher). Everyone is invited to come grab a cup cake with angry bird rings. |
airroseice: @Yvete: View their programs here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_International_University , I'll go prepared and thanks. On the flip side, they have some useful information on their website. You should go to the school website; it gives you a lot more useful information than wikipedia. One thing you need to also look out for is their faculty list. Being a small school, I hope it`s not the same guy/madam teaching all the classes. You never can tell..we`ve seen it all. |
airroseice: @Yvete Thank a lot for your contributions, I'm not quite sure of the college's (Virginia International Uni) reputation globally or out there in the U.S. but I'll be sure to add my resume to the GRE waiver from the school and so help me God I shall come back with a positive testimony on Thursday. God bless you ma'am. Yvete: "Virginia International University (VIU) offers 2 undergraduate programs, 4 graduate programsNairalanders, how are you all doing. Exams should be over by now(phew!!!) OK. Where is the "rolling my eyes" emotion?. I `ve never heard about this school; granted there are many schools in the VA/MD/DC area that I`ve never heard about but this sounds ......... But, Good luck! When you get there, you may want to look around. There are so many good schools in the VA area. |
seedord247: LmboooWhen you listen to lies a good number of times. It becomes your truth. "If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes your truth". However, trust me, any number you put in for Nigeria zip code will work. Try 12345; you`ll get your mail. Try 34567; you`ll get your mail. I bet the Nigerian mail man know by know how meaningless those numbers are. Lets kill this zip code arguement. |
ronald2g1: @house is it ok for my friend to wear his glasses cos he wasn't wearin one as at the time he did his intl passport. Or shuld he snap d 2x2 pic wiv his glasses on?Not necessarily. I don`t take passport photos with my glasses on and I have never gotten in trouble with that. He needs to wear his glasses to his interview though so he could hear the questions. I use glasses and when I don`t have them on, for some reason, my ears don`t work. I think when you wear glasses you hear with your eyes; I don`t know how that works...... |
ferdimako: What is 23401? Mailing or telephoning? You can ask the sender to give you a tracking number. Go to FEDEXs` or whoever the mailing companys website and track your document. Trust me, you will start sleeping through the night. To chime in on the zip code, I always use 00000 for Nigeria if they insist on one since we don`t use zip codes. I use it on forms and everything that requires a Nigeria |
Re Western Union Quick pay I`m not sure there are Western Union outlets in the US or UK that cannot process SEVIS payment/Quick pay; I may be wrong but it seems this is where they make money. I have done this seven (7) times and I have had luck all seven times. Granted the fo=irst time I was not sure of what I was doing but after that I became a guru (Yay me!!!) First you are using the Quick Pay form. I used the online example which is a little different from the form you see at the Western Union office but it still worked. Any western UUnion office that processes bill payment should be able to figure this out. Alternatively, you can call Western Union service number and make a virtual payment. They will get all your information (Name, SEVIS no, DOB and all the good things) and put them in their system (whereever that agent is), they will give you a control number which you will take to a Western Union outlet, give to the Clerk and voila! He/She will pull your details with the number and all you do is pay. Been there done that. It never gets easier. Good luck!!! |
dnpasion: Your Sponsor should be the one to fill in if atall your mom is going to pay for your trip. Not necessarily. If the mum is paying, I don`t see a problem with that. If anything, it shows strong ties to his/her family and the willingness of the immediate family to support him/her; nothing is better than that. I strongly advise against trying to be too perfect. In a real world, nothing is ever perfect. |
Tee.tee:You`re absolutely right Tee.tee. Your I-20 sponsor does not necessarily have to pay for your trip. I sponsored my sister and brother; they paid for their trips. Besides, they both were employed at the time they applied so it will be ridiculous to say I will sponsor their trips. In your case, say it as it is. If your mum pays for your trip and your aunt pays the tuition it should not be a problem. Afterall, it takes a village to rasie a child. |
chuquiz: helpChuquiz, Since you have your future all planned out (good for you), I will suggest you check the requirement for M.A in Philosophy and what the requirement is for the PhD program in your plan. For all you know, they might require a GMAT and you would have wasted money taking the GRE. I was an advocate of no GRE no problem but, I have learnt a lot on this thread and my take on GRE/GMAT is evolving. Be sure you know what your program requires/ will require before you jump on the bus. For example, some schools will only take TOEFL and not the IELTS; arm yourself with the right knowledge. Good luck. |
Nairalanders, Is anyone having luck scheduling interview for January or December? Thank you. |
I want to chime in on the issue of "How many schools did you apply to" I want to chime in on the issue of "How many schools did you apply to" I want to chime in on the issue of "How many schools did you apply to" Personally, I dont see any reason why you cannot apply to only one school. To me it shows you have done your due dilligence and you know no matter who reviews your application, you will be offered an admission. I have done the same for my brother and sister and they are both here- only one school and that is it. I don`t have $40 -$100 application fee and $50 a pop for WES to be throwing about. I dont want to enrich the rest of the world. That being said, if asked how many schools you applied to, you should be proud to say one. Do not say only one like you`re already doomed. You can also say you looked at other schools but the curriculum at..... speaks well to what you plan to do........ However, if God favors you, you can never go wrong with wrong or rehearsed answers. Now, do not rehearse this...(lol) Good luck. |

I won't know that. It will be your responsibility to check with SEVIS. You can ask people who have done this before. I have assisted people in the past but the cases are different. |
ferdiii: Why going to Seme? Can someone in the US, Canada or UK pay for someone?I can`t do Seme on friday. I haven`t bought my plane ticket yet. lol. I won't have to go to Seme. I`ll drive about two miles to the nearest Western Union during my lunch hour. Western Union in the US of A. |
dnpasion: Thanks but how soon can you be able to help? Will friday work for you? I should have a couple of minutes to go to Western Union then. |
dnpasion: Thanks but where i live is quite far from Seme but will appreciate it if someone on this thread can be of help. How urgent is this? I can help but it will not happen today. |
dnpasion: Thanks but where i live is quite far from Seme but will appreciate it if someone on this thread can be of help. |
mr swagger: @Biofem 2000, Oga abeg no dey use style dey scope d gurl.. We no b small pickin for here.. U for ask for here number na... LolMr. Swagger, Mr. Swagger....you made me laugh. I am a girl. I am a woman. I am a wife. I am a mother (3times). I am an Engineer. I am proud to be one of the few female engineers you will ever come accross. I am a woman in a man's world. When people make up their minds that I`m a man without seeing me, it gives me more fire; it tells me what a man can do, a woman can do too. Thank you. Stop by my office if you find yourself in MD and need to confirm; and I`m not scoping you. |
imperiouxx: Biofem is a married woman not guy. Thanks imperiouxx. I appreciate that. |
ferdiii: That GRE score is too poor. I know 300(300-800) of old rating is 138(130-170)of the new one. For new scale most schools accept from 153 and above for both Verbal & Quantitative and 4.5 Analytical. Anyway if am right, just redo the test.Umh....with all due respect, I disagree with you. Mo creations, talk to me at your earliest convenience. You never get to see people who look like you this often. Lets talk about Civil/Environmental Engineering and the many possibilities that lie ahead for women in Engineering. |
Mo creations: @ronald2g1 my cgpa is 4.21/5Mo creations, you just made my day!!!! If you don`t mind, I would like to speak with you. I am also a Civil/Environmental Engineer and a student by choice ( i try to quit everyday). The world need BRILLIANT FEMALE ENGINEERS like you and me. Lets talk before you make any decision. pureamazinggrace@gmail.com I hope to hear from you. |
Pholy: please..... house... who knows what bowie state university is like? is it worth it? kindly help ooooo.Like Morgan State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Coppin State University, Bowie State is an HBCU. I`m a Morgan State Alumni (still there). When you ask "What is Bowie State University" like, is it worth it"? How exactly do you mean? Is it worth what? I can tell you BSU is a University. They give degrees to well deserving students. It is not a diploma mill. It is located in Bowie, MD. It will be helpful if you can rephrase your question or pour out your concerns and fear about Bowie State. Good luck. |

So I need list of schools in US that do not require Gmat and Toefl for admission requirment.I'll appriciate Urgent reply. Thanks.Tell your brother to get farmiliar with the internet.
