Have you watched the BIG 3? Cube is already paying his dues to the AA community with the BIG 3. Man is fending for grown men (mostly African American I should add) who retired decades ago or play overseas and don’t necessarily have the financial wealth. He is well within his right to pursue something that would repay his investment in Caitlin. Sorry A. Reese doesn’t have the following that Caitlin commands, no female WNBA does and they all know that.

For all the noise about “women supporting women”, I thought I would see more acceptance and support from the female gender but it has been the opposite from numerous angles. There are generational talents that are the exception and Caitlin is one of them. Even if she goes to the WNBA and fails, her cult following in college will remain historic and unprecedented.

Im not claiming that he isnt. Me personally, I dont have any issues with him. But all decisions are not purely financial. There is always history and recency bias in these things. Any good businessman knows this. Forbes 500 companies spend billions on goodwill all the time, even accountants recognize it can have cash value on a balance sheet. For Cube to jump into the fray this way was not smart imo. Just because it makes you money doesnt mean its good business. He should have stayed faaaar away from this

Lol. What yeye underlying issues. What have black women done for Ice Cube's Big 3 league?
Why should he pander and bend over backwards to a demographic that has not supported his brand for the most part?

Maybe it's their culture but I've never seen any other group of men who are groomed as indentured servants to their women. The level of entitlement and ownership I've never seen elsewhere. The women demand it the men enforce and police it. Pure insanity

Well, when cube was a nobody, they were the ones watching his movies and listening to his music until he became big enough to do his own thing. It would be like Davido or Wizkid getting this big and thinking they can stop catering to the nigerian base. Las las it wont end well. I think guys like Cube should learn lessons from dem Denzel, etc the older generation. Everything is not simply about the dollars

A40:

Ice Cube is a capitalist trying to make money. Nothing consign am with all this una socialist talking points

Roland17:

Fair question for black women to ask, however, an offer like this is primarily about driving sales, rating and revenue for Ice Cube. While Reese is a dominant player, she did not drive the attendance or rating like Caitlin did. The NCAA Womens tournament had its highest watch rating ever this year.

Interesting response from both of you, and I think this is what black women are driving at. You are trying to have the conversation based solely on performance, implying that there are no other underlying issues.

But lets take that apart: If driving sales is all its about according to you Roland17, shouldnt Reese's notoriety also have been an asset last year? Because it looks like Ice Cube is only welcoming popularity accepted by mainstream americans as opposed to more black american.

A40 you say Ice Cube is just a capitalist and he looks at it from just money angle. OK, lets accept that. Why didnt he capitalize last year or other years? Granted Caitlin is more skilled, but if its just about making money why was that not offered last year to drive sales as well? Unless Cube is not as politics agnostic as he would like to think

Roland17:

Ice Cube is about to add more petrol to the fire. Baba has offered Caitlin $5M to play in the in his BIG 3. If she accepts that offer, that would be monumental earnings for just 8 games and it doesn’t stop her from playing in the WNBA. I imagine WNBA players will die even further of hate and jealousy.

Many of these women are being unnecessarily bitter and petty about everything.

The offer is at about 2 weeks old and she hasnt spoken on it, so I doubt she will take it. But it has raised questions for black women. A fair question to ask is where was this effort for black women like Angela Reese? I think black women are frustrated with the type of answers black men in power often give to these valid questions. Its like black men try to play pretend when it suits their pockets. Kinda like what Emmanuel Acho did some days ago. Acho is my guy, but he is very tone deaf on these matters.

Forgive me yall if I m starting a fire in a dry forest grin

I agree with you on the jealousy but I think it spans across the gender and not just blacks. Diana Turasi made some comments of National TV that reeked of jealousy.

I think the current WNBA players, especially the older ones feel she hasn’t done anything to be in the GOAT conversation.

Many of them are happy she did not win a title because according to them, you can’t be in a GOAT conversation without a title.

They are also offended by the narrative that she is coming to save or lift the WNBA because of her following and record attendances whenever she players. Also she isn’t so much interested in any other thing thing than playing basketball, which is different from what the current WNBA players do.

I dont think that Taurasi response was as bad as you say, what she said was the truth and pretty balanced. Are there haters? Yes. But I think some of her supporters are also looking for hate under every rug. Like she said, lets see how that game translates to the WNBA.

Draymond is a straight menace and it's not even funny. Two well deserved technicals barely 5mins into the 4th quarter. Warriors messed up and they deserve everything coming their way.

Seun:
When I started Nairaland, I operated it all by myself, but by 2007 I was overwhelmed. Mukina2 swooped in and volunteered to be a super-moderator. She also helped me to recruit section moderators. This enabled us to move forward. Initially, she worked for free, but over time she became a paid supermod. One of the best.

Last month, I gave her a particular instruction which is the most basic instruction you can give a moderator. Clean up ALL the sections you've been assigned to and report to me after EACH one. She steadfastly refused until the month end. She felt that she was doing her job and there was therefore no need for me to tell her what to do.

I insisted that she must choose between resigning and following this particular instruction. She eventually chose to resign, saying "let's go our separate ways". We will miss her a lot. I will miss her a lot. I wish her the best in all her future endeavours. She will do great. She may return if she changes her mind, but the show must go on.

your response shows how much you have grown as well. this was a professional and wise response.

Isn't itfunny that when we complain about 3 point spamming in this era, no one complains about Steph Curry, the master of the 3 points spamming grin To all, he's a great and wonderful player despite his 3pt spamming. And I kid you not, Steph Curry attempts the most 3s per game this season at 12. And he has averaged 11.3 per game since 2016. But when others spam 3s like him it's a bad thing. E be like na selective amnesia grin

Its not spamming if you have the capability to make it and have 4 rings based on it. As we have seen, even Klay and Barnes were feeding off of him, and both have regressed with time so this is a skill specific to Curry that no one else in nba history has been able to do consistently.

The issue of spamming has to do with trying to use 3s to win a game versus actually playing the game, something Dame has always been notorious for. Curry actually plays the game, will run through multiple screens and try to get an easy bucket off glass to keep defenders honest.

It's turn to a 3pt spam off. Shey they told us this era's players are the most skilled yenyenyen

They are, but the business side of it is ruining things. Its almost getting to the point you have to go to the streets to watch a decent game.

Lets not take the "more skilled" thing personal. It doesnt take away from the greatness of MJ, Magic, etc. Truth is the game has advanced, many of these guys are playing only bball from as early as 5, and they know a lot of tricks. The problem is the mindset is still not like the greats. We have never seen anything like peak Harden. But the guy is as soft as charmin toilet paper. Lets not talk about Kawhi or KAT or ...

What a finish! Credit to Kings for trapping Curry withThe double for that final possession. For some reason, I still can’t overlook these Warriors.

As long as Curry is playing, anything can happen come playoffs. The rest of the team got old though, injuries etc. At this point, Kerr is a known commodity. the league has studied him well enough

Life decisions man. Im sure Doc had to weigh this in his mind. His relationship with ESPN is likely burnt by this move, probably will never broadcast for them again. But if he goes far with the Bucks, then it will be worth it. If he gets fired in a season, and has to find another job, oh well...

Bucks hierarchy wanted to hire N. Nurse but Giannis disagreed and wanted Griffin, pretty much a continuation of wanting to control coaching. Today, Bud despite being a championship winning coach as recently as 2 years ago can’t get a gig.

So because he hired him, he is excused from the nonsense behaviors he portrayed against Adrian. I said it before, I blame Griffin for not setting boundaries with these cats. Ultimately, his career is now ruined and may never get another head coaching gig because of his lack of courage to COACH the team!

Let the records show, the Bucks were ranked 2nd in the East with a 30-13 record when A. Griffin was fired. Doc Rivers is rumored to be his replacement, I will be here. He better finish 1st in the East and make the Bucks a top 5 defensive team before the season ends.

Griffin over Nurse? Loool, thats crazy. I felt like Nurse was the perfect fit for the Bucks, at least while they still had Jrue.

Doc Rivers is about to completely immolate his reputation if these guys arent top 4 in the East come playoffs.

KPJ is a point guard actually. He's had his unstable issues before and was doing pretty ok in Houston. The gap in quality between him and Miles Bridges is really not that wide for him to be out of the league considering their offence is similar. I think he might have other personality issues that's keeping him outside the league along with his own partner violence

Not really. He was terrible for that locker room. the vets just ignored the guy and the rookies didnt care much. The dude always had some issue going on. I dont know what fool in the front office tried to keep him a rocket, but the DV case bailed us

AD's skills is never the question it's the mentality. This dude is a mental midget and that's the problem. Man's won that bubble ring and started coasting.

There's no acceptable reason AD should play 35 minutes of basketball and score 9pts in today's league.
