HealthWhy We Shouldn't Encourage Salt-drinking And Salt-bathing For Ebola Prevention by bishopz(op): 8:15am On Aug 08, 2014
WHY WE SHOULDN'T ENCOURAGE SALT-DRINKING AND SALT-BATHING FOR EBOLA VIRAL DISEASE PREVENTION!

By Dr. 'Malik Haruna King [www.withdrmalik.org]

#1: IT IS DECEPTIVE: Just like eating bitter-kola for cure, drinking warm salty water (or bathing with same at night) has absolutely no proven scientific or medical basis or evidence for prevention of EVD. Truth is bitter but it's healthier than salty lies and false hope!

#2: IT IS DISTRACTING: This would distract from the momentum we are trying to create for the effective way of preventing the spread of this deadly virus. Some people might become careless and lessen their commitment to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation!

#3: IT IS DANGEROUS: Salt is powerful--it can kill! That's why for ORT (for diarrhea treatment), we tell you exact amount of salt and sugar to put in a clearly specified amount of water! Careless drinking and bathing with salt-water, especially if done repeatedly, is NOT advisable. It also raises the blood pressure and affect the skin.

#4: IT IS DISTURBING: I know of countries that have never had a single incidence of "Ebola", but have invested millions of dollars in research, gotten possible vaccines and drugs, done trials in animals (with success ), and have everything ready in case this virus enters their country! People are dying in Nigeria; see what we (including our graduates and scientists) are believing and broadcasting!

Ebola virus disease is NOT (and has not become) airborne! Spread is by physical contact.

HealthWhy Ebola Virus Is Worse Than Hiv/aids! by bishopz(op):
No! We are not talking about another type of HIV/AIDS! And, sorry, it's not new; it's just not common, and most people have not heard about it. It is called Ebola Virus Disease! As at the time of writing this article, it is killing people in Liberia and Guinea, and over 83 people are reported dead. Sadly, this time, it is the worst form of the disease we have ever seen.

#1: It is extremely deadly.

And the chance of survival is almost zero, especially in Africa. And death is almost certain if the patient starts bleeding, which is a "trademark" of this disease. From a medical point, any one that contracts this disease should be isolated --to wait for death! It is sad! It kills faster than AIDS, and in an equally dramatic way. And because of the mode of transmission, you can not bury dead patients in the usual way -- patients, dead or alive, are absolutely avoided! Dead bodies are equally infectious.

#2: It is almost incurable.

The problem is that there's no drug for treatment or vaccine for prevention yet. And this disease is caused by 4 different viruses. At least we have some drugs for HIV/AIDS patients, to help them live longer and better. The treatment we offer for Ebola Virus Disease is for the person to die better and more peacefully--just supportive. The vaccines we have can only prevent monkeys and mice from the disease! We are working on vaccines for humans. Antivirals do not work.

#3: It is easily contagious.

HIV/AIDS requires blood transmission or sexual contact for transmission; this disease requires contact with body . Transmission is by coming in contact with body fluids from diarrhea, vomitting, and bleeding. Doctors and medical staffs attending to the patients were protective wears from head to toe, making them look like astronauts heading for the moon! HIV is highest among commercial sex workers and gays; the people with the highest risk of this Ebola Viral Disease are medical workers, their families, and their friends. Hunters that come in contact with monkeys and bats, and marketers of bush-meats should be careful.

#4: It's symptoms are deceptive.

If you experience fever, headache, body pains, body weakness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomitting, and abdominal pain, you may be thinking of malaria and typhoid fever. But it also could be Ebola Virus Disease. It also causes cough, sore throat, chest pain, difficulty in breathing, and red eye--like common cold! It is so deceptive! But the specific symptom is bleeding -- inside (internal bleeding) and outside the body (through ears, nose, anus, vagina, and under the skin). So watch out for bleeding from everywhere!

#5: No definite way to protect yourself.

There's ABC of HIV/AIDS prevention. There are ways of preventing malaria. But preventing Ebola Virus Disease is not specific or clear-cut. You are advised to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, avoid contact with infected people (and their secretions and blood), and avoid contact with objects contaminated by infected people. Prevention is by hygiene!

Let us pray--may this epidemic stop!

Nairaland GeneralA Prayer For Nigeria. by bishopz(op): 10:13am On Oct 01, 2012
Dear Father, you have been our shield and strong tower. Our ever present help in times of need. At this point in our nation, we sure need your intervention. We pray dear father, may the change we desperately need come suddenly with no further bloodshed.

May this nation rise to become the envy of other nations. May our children grow up into a system that is free of corruption. A system that places them on merit and not by sentiment or connections.

I also pray, that may governance in our nation be a true practice of democracy and not a demonstration of politics.

You have blessed us with so much, May our blessing not become a curse. May we enjoy the the riches of our land and not to endure the peril of the dismal performances of our leaders.
Thank you father.
In Jesus name.
Amen.

RomanceHe Surprised Himself. by bishopz(op): 12:39pm On Aug 16, 2012
A girl had really talked abt her boyfrnd to her female frnds. She told them how rich, caring, generous & handsome her guy is, and that he will be coming to visit her the next evening. Expectations from everyone were high.
The guy actually came d next evening as he promised but with a loaf of AGEGE BREAD as a gift to his girl.
The girl was very annoyed &disapointed. She threw d bread at the guy & insulted him to d fullest in d presence of everyone.
Embittered, d guy pick the AGEGE BREAD, sliced it into two & behold, A CAR KEY & An ENGAGEMENT RING fell out of d bread.

Now the questions:
(1) If u are the girl, what will u do?
(2) If u are the boy will u 4give the girl?

Enjoy ur day.
