Politics / Mimiko Set To Dump Lp, Pdp National Congress To Decide Future In Lp by BizNews: 11:44am On Feb 04, 2012
Indication emerged that the Ondo State Governor; Dr. Olusegun Mimiko may soon be on his way back to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].

“Daily post” authoritatively gathered that in order for the governor to have a soft landing he is sponsoring some of the candidates jostling for positions in the fourth coming National congress.

It was learnt that one of the candidate was the Ekiti State Chairman, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo who is eyeing the National Secretary of the party which had already been zoned to Ekiti and Ondo States.

Mimiko’s decision to join the ruling PDP may not be unconnected to the recent popularity of Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN] in the state.

Religion / The Preacher Man’s Sin by BizNews: 12:10pm On Dec 21, 2011
Millions listen to him. Millions attend his church. Millions revere him. Millions obey his every word. Millions see him as the holy one.He is pure. His ways are excellently woven by the Almighty. If he is wrong, some see it as right and if he is right, some see it as wrong. What is wrong in the eyes of the realist might be right in the eyes of a drunken few.

So it happened that some people dug up an old fact about this Holy one. What happened? In 2009, a witch flew to the front of the Holy man’s altar. The witch was looking for ways to stop flying. She wanted to walk like normal humans and behave as normal humans do. She confessed that she loved flying and that she was a magician. She was young. Her magic, according to her, was for good. She was fierce in her revelation. Her truth was cut short by a good doze of hot slap by the man of God. The audience wowed in delight at the act of the Holy man. No one talked about his actions. A man of God was righteous in all his ways. Therefore, if he slapped, abused, or cuts the wings of a flying human, it was right. God gave certain individuals the right to slap.

Also, may I draw your attention to the place where they wear white uniforms and walk barefooted? They cure flying powers with the use of brooms, coloured candles and hot spitting (speaking) of foreign tongues. Barbaric acts are allowed. Just do it in the name of something. They can exorcise with generous whips of strong brooms and hard wood. They can peel the back of an individual who claimed to have powers from the world of the unknown. It is a sin to be a dark angel but it is a very bright idea to cure the darkness with brutality. Do it in the name.

Business / How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses by BizNews: 9:07am On Dec 08, 2011
How Google Is Killing Nigerian Online Businesses - Nairalist, Tradestable

There is no pressing issue today in the Nigeria’s online business than the entrance of the behemoth called Google. Google’s entrance has send shivers down the spine of Nigeria online businesses and seen them frantically grabbing what hitherto was Nigeria’s domain. Google is innovating by killing local businesses.

Mashable recent post has this about Google earnings, ‘…the search giant’s third quarter, they reported $5.7 billion revenue, up 7% from the same time last year. The company generated $2.54 billion in free cash flow during the quarter, bringing the company’s total cash on hand to a staggering $22 billion’.

Google came into the Nigeria’s market with a war chest of over $22bn and ferocious assemblage of the smartest to conquer the Nigeria market. It seems to have achieved that. The past few weeks has seen Google with its war chest and network of associates and strategic linkages pushing hard to take Nigeria’s businesses online whether they want it now or not. Even with a free web portal that didn’t factor in services firms but basically meant for product sales. It has taken on tradestable , nairalist and dealfish through Google Trader is just ubiquitous on the internet.

As a result, the Nigeria web designers are going jobless and what seemed an opportunity has suddenly turned into a nightmare. These web designers in the past decade stumbled on the internet; they joined the platforms and started a self-learning process that saw them becoming useful in providing I.T services which in the past weren’t in existence. They could have been cybercriminals, cyber-bullies, ‘yahoo-boys’ and thieves and others but the choose the right path.

Politics / Sanusi For President In 2015? by BizNews: 10:07am On Sep 18, 2011
Agenda 2015: Why Sanusi Should Be A Presidential Candidate?

No other state in the world has been so thirsty for a new brand of leadership like Nigeria. From both sides of the Atlantic, there is a growing scarcity for that leadership that can help the world manage today’s tensions and challenges while helping it take the leap into the new world. Most of the world’s leaders have not performed creditably well in managing aspirations and realities. It is from this fallout that the world stares blankly into the stars with hope so tired out.

Business / A 100 Days Tarred By Terrorism by BizNews: 2:08pm On Sep 05, 2011
Again Jos, a beehive of vacation and tourist activities was in the news. This time a family of eight was brutally sent to their early grave. It is not news that this happened. But what is news is our government glaring show of weakness and perplexity in addressing the Jos quagmire. We keep seeing the impunity and the rape of Jos’s sanity again and again without any concrete approach to stop this ethno-religious cleansing, poverty-induced spoilage. We are miffed about this.

The government has set up several committees with reports lying shrouded in dust and cobwebs. In her recent pronouncement, it has given a shot at sight order to security forces patrolling the Jos metropolis and hinterlands. Also, our government has never stopped short of promising to deal severely with the heartless bandits who have raped Jos’s serenity and has made her a shadow of her reverend self.
