Without being technical, no much difference. People opt for primary market for highest juiciest rates possible. Secondary market offers slightly lower rates

Redmi 8 full Recovery ROM is 2GB and that is what is pushed whenever there is a major update.

Downloading directly is not the issue. The issue is this is the first time I'm getting as large as greater than 1gb.

I usually download with Airtel night plan of 1gb.

any ideas on how to download 2gb without using my main sub? Ie is it possible to use 1gb from my Airtel then pause, switch to my main Glo sub and continue download

Your best bet is to download Manually with a download manager and install

okay does downloading manually reduce the amount of data required. In this case less than 2gb

I usually get 1gb Airtel night plan. This update requires 2gb.
Can I download for two nights like is pausing possible?
