I was talking to an Igbo friend of mine today and he told me that about 25% of the Igbos in Anambra are originally from Igala in Kogi state. I have been hearing this for awhile now and It has been said several times that even the current governor Willie Obiano is an Igala man. Please how true is this and can anyone here confirm this. Do you know that what you speak as Yoruba in SW today is Igala language forced on the colonies Igala colonised from 12AD as a lingua Franca?

Those colonies later turned out to be what we now call Yorubas today.

Igala colonised what became Yoruba today for a thousand and 12 years. 800 years of direct colonisation and the remaining 212 years of dwindling influence and indirect colonisation.

The evidence is there. Yorubas still speak Igala till tomorrow

The only true thing about Igalas is that they colonised the present day Yoruba people from 12AD to late 19th century.

As a proof, they gave them the language they speak as Yoruba today.

Distance in running their satellite Yoruba colonies dwindled their direct influence on Yorubas but their language is still used as lingua Franca in Yorubaland. The language till date still sound as Igala and have more than 50% contemporary Igala words in it

Rome conquered Iberian peninsula and till date, Spanish and Portuguese sound like Latin and still have much of Latin/Italian words in their vocabulary. The same can be said for Igala and Yoruba.

Just like Rome, Igala conquered Yoruba in the AD's and like a true coloniser, they passed down their language to the Yorubas which is still visible till date.
