So you think a GT that studied accounting can be placed in an engineering role I peeree you boscom: Selection process possible determinants.
Basically, this will not be based on federal character alone but some other fundamentals could make the selection tense for some candidates while others may have it easy.
For the GT, generally GTs in most organizations are selected based on performance without considering the course of study, purely on order merit, I see NNPC not being an exception to this. With this, the selection will be stiff, depending on your state and the number left from your state allocation after deduction of the successful EH slots.
The EH will be selected first; this is an existing workspace that needs to be fixed, hence, the job placement, unlike GTs that will be cultured for task ahead, I mean, future needs. The EH selection process will be based on the best man for the job and not state as some states may not even have applicants for the role.
Lets simulate an instance here, the role of Company Secretary should go out for just one applicant out of many, it means such applicants will be competing with other smart applicants across the federation for this role and not his or her village people. This instance, takes us to complexity 2, this automatically reduced the number allocated to FCT and as such, affects the number of seats left for the GTs from FCT. In this scenario, Some EHs will be fortunate; applicants equal the number of spaces, like in a situation where someone happened to be the only man that applied for the role, it was just smooth cruise to the Tower. Whereas other will sweat to get a seat, maybe like the HSE applicants and others, they will need to battle for the limited seats on their roles as we have a good number of them, more that the available space.
To recap: - The GT will compete with the village people, this will be easy ride for some - The EH will compete with other candidates across the federation with same job title and skillset - The more successful EHs in your state the more the tense selection process for the GTs becomes - EH on popular role too stand chances of stiff selection while some may not have 2nd to compete with, these are called "Yours throughly". - Federal Character may also step in, if 5 are needed and 6 applicants are available, the first 5 from a state and the 6th from another state. I guess you understand the 6th from other state would likely make the successful list.
Above all, for my case, its in God's hands. |

Apt, this has been on my mind. Elect/Mech guys na fight for una( I know how smart you guys can be), take your mind off village people for now. Very soon we go know true source/sauce...everybody knows somebody divads: There are many sides to this selection process. I don't think it only boils down to state or village people fight.. They will also consider ones field.
They should have total number of GTs they need in each department.. So Let's say they need 60 ICT Gts, 50 geologists, 100 Pet engineers etc (just assumed figures)
If they should select based on the best candidates per state. They may not meet their desired departmental slots. You may have more science GTs than is needed or more Arts GTs.
So as much as each state is expected to get even slots (except oil producing states) . they also consider the available slots in the department depending on one's course of study.
So ure somehow expected to be among the best in your department.
It's possible that there are some core departments where they will select the best candidates in the interview irrespective of their State of Origin.. And then use other candidates from other departments or states to compensate for this.
At the end of the day, All states are still well represented.
We really do not know what method they will use. But I pray they will use the one that will favour you and I. |

That'show I see it too, if there are 25 slots I assume there are only 10-15 slots available and the rest for the powers that be Gerrard59: Twitter Nigeria has some of the most arrogant, self-conceited, over-sabi and haughty individuals I have come across on social media in the country. The vast vast majority are complainers, i.e, complain from today till tomorrow without proffering solutions. Worse is when there is a blue tick besides the username, oh, such individuals claim an all-and-all and shut down divergent views by labelling them with funky words - misogynist, patriarch, homophobe, racist etc.
Regarding the notion of man-know-man, such mentality makes people not to believe in themselves and lose out on a lot of things. I might be accused of quoting him several times, but one invaluable thing I learnt from Jarus is not to base job applications on the theory of man-know-man. Reason is that: there will always be a percentage of folks who will get in without knowing anyone, so why not target being part of that number? This pervasive mentality radiates around the country and prevent believers from applying but the good thing about it is that, such belief system reduces the overall number of applicants. |

He contacted me earlier in the thread to ask for NNPC salary and I got to know more about him through our conversation.. Very smart guy.. Has amazing projects with some IOCs and with some of the best institutions in the world. Besides, it's rare for someone to lie about achievements here and with smart compositions lol. He tried to gain deep knowledge into what I knew about the oil and gas industry. He wanted to learn. He probably knew Jarus was well connected in the oil and gas industry and wanted to learn from him too.. And people on here are bringing out conspiracy theories. A true first class graduate. What I'm even surprised about is that he didn't even mention what I felt was the most incredible stuff about him on here.when I Googled it, I was shocked |

Guy rest, you'd be forming badoo here dey form meek for shell thread. After all the McKinsey you go still beg for jarus interview coaching. mosgoon: hmmn, you are right sir Jarus. McKinsey.. For those interested in oil and gas and consulting with the bulk of the interest in consulting should try out McKinsey. Very competitive. That their PST, PEI.. Very tough. Their Partners are very cool people though from my chats with them after my last stage partner interviews.
The only problem with them if someone here is comparing with NNPC, is that they would suck the life out of you lol.. Meaning it's a very stressful, high pressure environment.. And while they pay very well in Nigeria for entry level - also called business analysts (albeit less than BCG, Bain in Nigeria alone when compared within the big 3), they still pay less than NNPC for entry level and NNPC should be far less stressful lol. But the international recognition you would get is up there as they are among the top management consulting firms in the world along side BCG, Bain.. Then the other tier follows.. The strategy&, Booz.. Etc
Once again if you like oil companies but love management and consulting more, McKinsey is up there referring places to begin a career |
