The face of a tenant, identified as Oyize Peter, was on Sunday allegedly marred by her landlord, Ubasinachi Ekweozor, and his wife, Anulika, over unpaid water and electricity bills at their house located at No, 78, Amudalatu Agodo, Ikotun, Lagos. According to a source: “Oyize was owing electricity bills and her house was disconnected. This infuriated her landlord because the tenant’s house was also connected to the pumping machine that serves the entire compound. So the landlord called an electrician to connect the machine’s wire to his own apartment and also called a plumber to disconnect Oyize’s pipe so she wouldn’t have water, but she didn’t allow that and it led to an exchange of words. Calm was later restored and the tenant returned to her apartment. However, Oyize was in the kitchen when the landlady allegedly took her unawares and used an axe to mar her face.” The victim has since been rushed to a hospital while the culprits have been whisked to Ikotun Police Station where they are currently cooling off. Initially existing as a remote area, and more like an abandoned space in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos, the trading district known as Katangowa Market has evolved over the years.

Asides the trading of used clothes, bags, and shoes the market is famous for, Katangowa housed a mechanic village and other businesses.

Until the Lagos state government stormed the market with bulldozers for demolition, the market was a destination for many shoppers in and beyond the shores of the state.

When Pulse visited the market on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, it observed that it is no longer business as usual for traders. Serious demolition is ongoing, and some traders who used to sit comfortably in their shops have been left with no choice but to loiter the roadside.

Traders are not the only ones affected. Sadly, some residents whose houses are built-in and around the market have been displaced. .

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed his delight after it was officially announced that he has secured a return to AC Milan. The Rossoneri announced the news via a statement on their official website, with the Swede having put pen to paper on a deal which will run until the end of the season, while it is being widely reported that there is the option for another season.
