francizy:
Rubbish!!! It seems you don't even know that the failure that DC is experiencing in the movie industry is the unrealistic nature of their useless characters.. No matter how strong a Marvel character is, there will still be some elements of reality attached to such a character to make watching such a character enjoyable. Young and old will enjoy Marvel but DC is meant for children who dwell in the fantasy world.
So DC movie characters has no element of reality?

Have you watched man of steel and BVS?

Henry Canvill's Superman is very unique and realistic.
They would have made a Superman that smiles everytime, beats bad guys and makes everyone happy.

But NO.

They made a superman that has feelings.
No matter how powerful he is , Man of Steel and BVS showed the human side of Superman.
He can be emotional.
He feels guilt.
He can be sad and withdrawn.
He feels the weight of responbility.
He is not a jolly good fellow that kicks butt.
He's an alien but he has the heart of man.

I have never seen a superman so realistic as Canvill's.

You may hate BVS and Man of Steel.
But the potrayal of the Superman character was perfect.

He is just like Tobey Maquire's Spiderman.
A realistic hero with feelings.

Not the one that one that kicks butt, smiles everytime and cracks jokes.

What about Batman.

The current Batman may not be like Christian Bale but he is realistic.
He is not just a guy that fights bad guys and saves the day.
He has the inner darkness.
He still carries the pain of his parent's death.
He has a dark side and in BVS he metes out brutality to criminals just to fill the void and ease the pain in his heart.

And You think he is useless and not realistic?

What about Wonder Woman?

A lady who has never been to man's world.
And when she finally goes over there, she sees the pain and darkness that plagues it and she learns that the world outside themiscyra is not perfect.
She is naive at first but she had to adapt to her new environment.
She meets Steve Trevor and he died, she had to deal with the loss of a loved one.
The movie has its ups and downs but the character is very good and realistic.

I dont really understand your definition of realistic.

DC characters may feel over powered to you but they have weakness and they all have a human heart that is not all bliss and rainbows.

It's funny how all the peeps shouting X-men didn't know it is not a Marvel Franchise... Bunch of ignorants forming comic lovers!!
Dont mind them.
They are also shouting Spiderman and Deadpool.

Deadpool is a marvel character from the comic but the movie was not produced by marvel.
It is not a marvel movie, it belongs to Fox (21st Century Fox).

Xmen movies are not in marvel movies franchise.
It was produced by Fox.
Marvel only produced the comic but they have nothing to do with the movie.

Spiderman.
The first Spiderman 1-3 is not marvel.
It was produced by Sony.
The second Spiderman Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2 is not a marvel movie.
It belongs to Sony.

The only spiderman movie produced by marvel was this year's Homecoming and it's not better Sony's Spiderman 1-3.

And OP is talking about movie not comic.

Nah. The catholic church started this mess: mass propagation of false doctrines. Pentecostals who followed likewise have obviously erred greatly but the catholic even 1000 times. Two wrongs don't make a right one.

"Being charitable" like your pope wants everyone to believe would not absorb him of the heresies in his convent. Don't deceive yourselves thinking you can outsmart God or earn His blessings with "good deeds" when you still challenge the supreme authority of the scriptures with your traditions.
Thank you for this.

The Catholic is much worse.

Such a law don't exist!
In case of community ownership of property which I believe you misrepresented,
the family's wealth is shared not the man's property.
If you are uncomfortable with such arrangement, marry a woman who is as rich
or richer than you, so she won't get a penny if a divorce occurs. I am not sure
you will want such a woman due to ego.
Remember, the law was made by men who are way more smarter than you could

Religion, culture and feminazi are the three major stumbling blocks facing feminism.

I was an anti-feminist until i read Chimamanda Adichie's We Should All Be Feminist and i realized that feminism it's not what feminazis and mysogynist make it out to be.

I took a bike to the car park, saw a crippled beggar, he was carrying his plastic plate begging the food seller for food. I gave him N5k, and also bought him food.
I went back to Church to join my parents, just like nothing happened.
The following day, I went to the primary school I attended at some point, greeted the head teacher, and asked if there was any student struggling financially. I was showed some. I chose three. I gave each of them N10k. I ended up spending over N65k on strangers who needed my money the most. I paid hospital bills, fed a beggar for at least one week, and paid tuition fees for three.
Any God who thinks that I should be in hell because I didn’t enrich an already stinking rich man who is a thousand times richer than myself and my parents, but rather gave that money to the poor, is a God I never want to have anything to do with.
This was the beginning of it all.
I don’t believe in tithing. That’s a modern day religious scam.
But I do “tithe”.
Everything that I should have dropped in the Church accounts goes directly to the poor. I pay tuition fees for people, I pay hospital bills, and I feed the poor. All these I do whenever I have the money to do it.
After this experience in 2013, I felt so happy within myself. I felt an inner Joy. I still feel joy within each time I remember that I have put and keep putting smiles on the faces of people who almost had no hope at some points, just with my N10k, N20k, here and there. So, I made a vow in 2013 that love is going to be my religion where I would be paying my tithe and offerings to people, mainly strangers that won’t recognize me again some hours after.
Even the Bible says; “whatsoever you do to the least of thou brethren, so you do unto me.”
Jesus Christ gave more than he received. The early missionaries that brought Christianity to Nigeria gave more than they received. They built schools, hospitals and churches for free. They did a lot to improve human lives, and asked for nothing back.... only believe.
But the opposite is what we have amongst Nigerian pastors these days. They make their gullible members milk cows to enrich themselves.
What is a sane man, who goes by the title “GO” in a country where many only survive on less than a dollar a day doing with four private jets? That has gone beyond greed, that’s insanity! And Nigerians keep enabling these brands of insanities.
Nigerian pastors and GOs will continue getting richer for as long as the average Nigerian Christian remains gullible. This gullibility is simply self-inflicted-mental-laziness. You have refused to think with your brains, so these GOs think for you. And they think for you to their own benefits.
I don’t give in Churches anymore. Heaven knows I won’t give a dime to a multi-billionaire pastor while there are still beggars on the streets.
Nigerian Christians need to start using their brains. This is URGENT!
Think man, think woman, because no one ever died of thinking critically with his or her brain.
Even though I become a billionaire today, no Nigerian pastor would get a dime from me. My “tithes”, alms, offerings and seeds would all go directly to the poor in my society. Not to some of the richest people in the world.

Back in 2013, in my home Church, something happened that changed my whole perspective. An alter call for donations was made, thus:
“Praise tha Lord o. Our Daddy in the Lord is visiting us with his army of Soldiers. We need to look after our daddy very well. We need to lodge him in the most expensive hotel in town for one week. Feed him and mummy, transport him and look after him while he is with us.”
I was already making calculations in my head at this point, with the idea of the price of the most expensive hotel, and what it costs to lodge people.
Then the announcer continued...
“We are also going to look after his 50-man entourage, likewise. It would cost us at least N100k per day to look after Daddy and Mummy, and at least N70k per day to look after each of his 50-man entourage.”
I’m quite fast with numbers, most especially when these numbers are about money. Thus, it took me less than a minute to come up with a sum total of what they expected us to donate so we can “look after” the spiritual leader of the church. We are talking about a fund raising of not less than N25.2 million Naira here. For what? Just to have the spiritual leader come and preach to us for a couple of hours per week?
When the calls were made for those who want to give N50k and above to walk down to the “healing ground” for special prayers, I was about to go. I had N50k to give. But then, I snapped within me. I remembered that there are families who are struggling to feed. I remembered that there are children who can’t go back to school because they can’t afford tuition. I remembered that there are people in hospitals who are dying because they can’t afford treatments of N10k.
I had initially wanted to stand up to walk to the front with my N50k, but I saw myself parking my bag, and walking out of the church.
I went out, waved an okada man, and asked him to take me to the central hospital. I went into the hospital, then asked the nurse if there was anyone struggling with medical bills. I was showed two patients. One was a woman who had just put to bed, and two was a child who had just been treated for malaria. I gave them N15k each. The child could now be allowed to go home. His petty trader single mother almost rolled on the floor thanking me. What for? N15k? It was embarrassing as well as fulfilling.... I actually dropped a tear.

My attempt at sarcasm was lost on you apparently and my point as a result. I know what it means.

But you skipped my question altogether; is there a feminist rulebook? What would a "true feminist" do to become a feminazi?

Emily Lindin was a true feminist, vocal and a darling of the American feminist community?
One tweet and she's feminazi? How does that work?
If Adichie for example does same, would she automatically become feminazi?
There is no feminist rule book.
But there are boundaries that a true feminist should not cross.

Feminism is a balanced concept.
If a true feminist goes over the edge with extremism and exageration.
Bashing men or spreading hate speech.
Or in the case of Emily Lindin, saying things that are wrong and goes against the very principles of true feminism...which is respect for all genders.
She will become a feminazi.

With all due respect, Emily is still a feminist but those words she uttered wreaks of radical feminism aka feminazi.
She crossed a line and i condemn her actions.
It is up to her to retrace her steps and go back to true feminism.

To the best of my knoledge, Adichie is a true feminist.
If she crossed the line and did what Emily did.
She would become a feminazi.

Feminism is like religion.
Religion is good but when one takes religion to radical and extreme levels, spreading hate speech, disrespecting other religions and trying to lord his religious belief over others.
He would be called a religious extremist.

I hope you understand the difference now.

You cannot support gender equality and bash feminism.
Feminism is about gender equality too .

The reason why you don't hear of masculinity is because men are the most favoured gender.

The majority of gender discrimination, stigmatisation and injustice is against women

Who are the major victims of rape?
Men or women?

Who are the major victims of domestic violence?
Is it not women?

Have you ever heard of male widows/widowers being oppressed and accused of killing their wives?

Have you ever heard of male non-virgins being stigmatised cuz they lost their virginity before marriage?

Have you ever heard of men being marginalized in the labour force, politics, government and other leadership positions cuz of gender?

Have you ever heard of men trafficking and male sex slavery?

List out the gender injustices in the society and you will know that the woman is really suffering.

[Of course some problems in the society affects both genders or men in particular.
But injustice against women is too much that the idea of feminism had to be born to fight it .

If women were enjoying the privileges that men enjoy today there would be nothing like feminism.

But women are the most oppressed gender, that is why feminism is necessary

If you know the gravity of injustice that women suffer, you will know that men are the most favoured gender.

Over 7,000 women are murdered every year for mercy killings due to female inferiority and to restore family honor.
A simple will outlaw this. When Mary Slessor put an end to killing twins she didn't set up a pro-twins movement. She simply educated the locals and appealed to the appropriate authorities.

Over half of the world's women have suffered genital mutilation. Some resources estimate over 85%.
I would like to see the stats for genital mutilation in men, which I'm very sure far outnumbers any women can put forward.

Child marriages (girls under 15) occur at alarming rates and a number of children physically and sexually abused in these situations is equally overwhelming.
Again, there are laws for this.

Rape occurs in all forms, but the majority are men-on-women scenarios. Rape is not taken seriously and is incredibly under-reported. Statics in Bangladesh reports that 61% of urban rapists felt no remorse due to social views on women and over 95% of reported rapes led to no convictions.
Well, the stronger rapes the weaker, and most rapists are heterosexual. This should tell you why most rapists are men. There are råpe laws, they should be followed.

Even though women are rising in the workplace, sexualsexual harassment is still thriving as a way to play a power game between genders. Over 50% of women report being sexually harassed at work.
Well, man must toast women.

[Sex trading and forced prostitution are still a dominating business on a global scale.
Young boys are also being bought and sold as sex slaves worldwide. This isn't peculiar to the female gender.

quoteThe media still promotes women as sexual objects dependent on men.If the media does this, they are only following the leading of women themselves. All we need do is take a cursory look at millions if social media accounts to get a glimpse into how women really see themselves. As they say, art imitates life.

Women face inferior stereotypes socially, but that is the whole article in itself.
What does this even mean?

Wage disparity is real and women are paid less than men for the same jobs with the same degrees.
Lies. The wage gap has been debunked as an insidious myth. I challenge you to prove that women are paid less than men anywhere in this world. I will give you a full year to make your research and come up with such a situation.

Women are pressured by looks. Look at the makeup industry and how much women pay to get the “flawless natural" look to conform.
Women pressure themselves to look good for the best possible mate. This isn't society's fault, these women know they have to look good to attract men. The makeup industry is making a killing because women want to outdo their peers in the attraction department.
There are male sex slaves but the majority of sex slaves are women.

dicefrost:
Arguments in favor of feminism is usually flawed, and fails to realise one simple yet vital truth. NATURE CREATED AN IMBALANCE. Women are often victims of rape and domestic violence because men are physically stronger. That is not a problem that gender equality can fix! Those countries need better law enforcement. There is no country in the world were rape is legal. Gender equality won't stop perverts from bring perverts. As long as the imbalance created by nature exists, gender equality cannot be fully actualized. You talk about sex trafficking and slavery etc. These things happen because men are naturally dominant. A woman can't force a man to be a sex slave. But the reverse can happen because a man is dominant. What we ought to fight for is protection for woman, because they are the eeaker of the sexes, not equality.
So you think gender equality is about being equal in every aspect including nature?!

You are wrong!

When i talk about gender equality, i'm talking about equal rights, equal treatment, justice and fairness to both genders.
Absence of discrimination and stigmatisation, equal oppourtunity etc.

There are natural imbalance.
I'm aware of that.

That is why a pregnant woman cannot have equal work hours with men simply because of equality.
It cannot work.

Feminist understands natural imbalance and it does bring limitations to gender equality.

But in a case where equality is possible and necessary, feminist will fight for it.

On the issue of rape and domestic violence, i know that men are stronger, that is why it happens.

But do you think we should let it happen cuz men are strong?

Never.

That is why feminism is necessary.
Feminism is not just about gender equality, it is about empowering women and defending them.
It is about promoting justice and fairness.

Rapist should be given stronger jail term, domestic violence must be discouraged.
Women must be empowered and enlightened to know their rights.

This is what feminist are fighting for.
Feminist will never advice a woman to beat or stab her abusive husband just because of equality.
NO.

Feminism discourages men from beating and raping women because they are weaker sex.

DO NOT TREAT A WOMAN LIKE TRASH SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE IS PHYSICALLY WEAKER.

This is what feminist emphasise on and they fight for rights of women and promote justice and fairness.

If you think feminism is about gender equality in every aspect, then you are wrong.

Feminist recognize natural imbalance and they fight for equality, justice and fairness where possible and necessary.

Feminazi?
My phone's dictionary does not even recognize the word.
Is there is a feminist rulebook?
A feminist code of conduct that you all are expected to abide by?
All of a sudden a vocal feminist is not longer a true feminist.

Why is it that when one feminist says what is really on your minds you all switch to this tactic of calling them feminazi?

Your comment reeks of the "no true Scotsman" fallacy (look it up) and I am no longer in the business of addressing illogicalities.
(I don retire).
Get a new dictionary.
Feminazi is a word recognized by lexicologist.
If you cant find it in your dictionary, look it up on google.
You'll find it there with it's meaning and correct proununciation just like you'll find it in dictionary.
Go and update you dictionary or get a better one.

A feminazi means...Radical Feminist.,an extremist feminist and fundamentalist.

It's not a new word, i dont know you never heard of it.
You are obviously new to the concept of feminism.

You dont understand the very concept of feminism talkless of feminazi.

Down here in Nigeria, there isn't a ministry taking care of men with serious sickness like cancer etc

But we have ministry of women affairs.. I can only imagine the outrage if it was the other way round
If men feel opressed, they can form a ministry for men affairs.

I dont think it is difficult.
Besides, men hold over 70% of political positions.
They run the government.
They hold many leadership positions.
They are the kings in the society.

Haven't you heard the phrase; "It's a man's world".

Men are rulers of the world.

If they want a ministry of men affairs, they can always make it happen without sweating.

Women are not opposing any ministry that helps men.
No one is against it.

So the problem is with men.
They have the capacity to fix it but they haven't.
Will you blame women for that?

Women want a solution to the problems that affect them hence the feminist movement.
Men have problems too but they swallow the shit up and keep silent.
Is it the women's fault?
Women will speak up against injustice against them but men are too docile about their own problems.
Will you blame the women for that?

Like i said.
If men wanted a ministry for men afffairs, they would have done it already.

Men are not ready to help themselves.

If a man is sexually harassed, his fellow men will snub his cry for help or encourage him to surrender himself to the female rapist and enjoy himself.
That is how the society works.

Men are not ready to solve the problems that affect them.
So dont blame women.

Feminist want equality.
But men dont like the idea.

If both genders are ready to work together, these problems you pointed out would be solved.

But the society is too pesimistic.
One gender talks about equality and the other gender interprets it as a call for war.

I did not generalize.

You obviously have feminism confused with feminazi.
Cuz feminazi is the extreme and exagerated one not feminism.

I have followed the Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein.
I condemn sexual harassment even if the victim is male.
Sexual harassment affect women more and i know than men can be victims too.
Either of sexual harassment or false accusation.
I totally condemn it.
I'm a man and i know what it feels like to be falsely accused of sexual harassment.

Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey are guilty and should face criticism.

Emily Lindin is a feminazi not a feminist.
You obviously have feminazi confused with feminism.

Feminism is a balanced concept.
It is not extreme, exagerated of generalized.
Feminism does not support injustice against men on the issue of gender.

Feminazi is an extreme and perversed version of feminism.
Emily Lindin is only hiding under the cover of feminism.
Many feminazis claim to be feminist but they are not.

There is a difference between feminism and feminazi.
Don get it confused.

True feminism does not support injustice against men.

Perhaps i will make a thread and explain the differences between feminism and feminazi.

I condemn Emily Lindin.
A true feminist would do the same.

I support the independence of Catalonia but i ain't Catalan.

But you think i must be a pussy to support feminism?

If you think i have to be famale to be able to speak up for women rights, then you have a problem.

I dont have to be a woman to support feminism.
There are men who are feminist
too.
I'm one of them.

If you have any problem with feminist, you can argue with me.

Until then...go hug transformer.

Belafonte:
If you believe in equality, you're a masculinist. Sorry to tell you.

Of course some problems in the society affects both genders or men in particular.

But injustice against women is too much that the idea of feminism had to be born to fight it .

If women were enjoying the privileges that men enjoy today there would be nothing like feminism.
But women are the most oppressed gender, that is why feminism is necessary.

If you know the gravity of injustice that women suffer, you will know that men are the most favoured gender.

Over 7,000 women are murdered every year for mercy killings due to female inferiority and to restore family honor.

Over half of the world's women have suffered genital mutilation. Some resources estimate over 85%.

Child marriages (girls under 15) occur at alarming rates and a number of children physically and sexually abused in these situations is equally overwhelming.

Rape occurs in all forms, but the majority are men-on-women scenarios. Rape is not taken seriously and is incredibly under-reported. Statics in Bangladesh reports that 61% of urban rapists felt no remorse due to social views on women and over 95% of reported rapes led to no convictions.

Even though women are rising in the workplace, sexual harassment is still thriving as a way to play a power game between genders. Over 50% of women report being sexually harassed at work.

Sex trading and forced prostitution are still a dominating business on a global scale.

The media still promotes women as sexual objects dependent on men.

Women face inferior stereotypes socially, but that is the whole article in itself.

Wage disparity is real and women are paid less than men for the same jobs with the same degrees.

Women are pressured by looks. Look at the makeup industry and how much women pay to get the “flawless natural” look to conform.

Feminism is a global necessity that goes far beyond the stereotype of bashing men as an end goal. Feminism is the strive for true equality between genders and promoting tolerance for differences. There are many misconceptions about feminism due to backlash on social media and lack of knowledge on what true feminists stand for. We're not out to be patronizing hypocrites. We're out to make the world a safer place for women and a place for equal opportunity for men and women, even if that means maybe burning some bras along the way.

20. We still need feminism

Women have come a long way since the Suffrage Movement. Women can vote, hold high positions in business and politics, and are slowly becoming less sexualized in certain forms of media (sometimes). Despite these advances, however, there are multiple reasons feminism deserves to flourish.

I’ll let this recent graph from The Society Pages do the talking.

19. Feminism and equality are essentially the same thing

Basically, this entire article in a nutshell. Feminism faces many false stereotypes and brutal misconceptions. Feminism is nothing to be afraid of! Equality is a beautiful thing, and it’s time feminism gets correctly labeled as just that, the fight for gender equality through the empowerment of women without the ruining of men.

18. Feminists who support bias achievement are not true feminists

People who support the advancement of women by using gender as a crutch are not true feminists. For example, not all feminists voted or supported Hillary Clinton because she’s a woman. Feminism is about gender equality, so pushing for the success of a woman simply because she’s a woman is hypocritical to what feminism stands for. To vote for someone based on gender and not the agreeableness of skills, values, and performance ability is the opposite of what feminism promotes. If a feminist says “I voted for Hillary because she’s a woman” after screaming misogyny and power abuse after a guy says “I voted for Trump because he’s a man”, then they are not true feminists. They’re simply shifting that power imbalance of gender bias to the opposite side and implementing the same oppression they claim to fight against. Now, some feminists say that they voted for a woman simply because she’s a woman in order to lay the foundation for female empowerment in politics and business, which is a tricky scenario to discuss. Here is another example. Say there is a position open and the employer is a woman. There are two people going for an interview with different degrees and skills. The woman is hired over the man because the employer holds a bias against women, even though the man’s degree and skills are a better fit for the company. Now a woman who is less qualified is granted privilege over a man due to gender differences. Those who claim to be feminist cannot support this idea, especially if the gender roles were reversed and viewed as patriarchal.

17. The Feminist Movement is not a political movement

There is an unfortunate misconception that only the Democratic party (we can also put the left and liberals in this same context) can be feminist. There is another misconception that feminists excluded anyone who does not fit this mold. In reality, this is a “welcome all movement”, especially since there are so many platforms of feminism. Feminism is a social movement before it is a political one, and if feminism were to limit supporters based on which political party they like then it would be going against the side of the movement that promotes diversity and equality. Feminists are conservatives, Libertarians, liberals—equality of the sexes really is not limited by a political belief when it is a social issue. Politics do matter when it comes to putting someone in power who either promotes or demotes the importance of feminism and is or is not willing to pass certain legislation, but aside from that feminism is open to anyone who believes in gender equality!

"The MPAA is okay supporting scenes that portray women in scenarios of sexual torture and violence for entertainment purposes, but they are trying to force us to look away from a scene that shows a woman in a sexual scenario, which is both complicit and complex. It’s misogynistic in nature to try and control a woman’s sexual presentation of self."
Being a male feminist is a powerful thing and nothing to be ashamed of. Despite the backlash, male feminists are also by no means going against their own gender.
