All of this under the control of Netflix

This saga keeps getting interesting... undecided
Netflix winning the bidding war is surprising. A streaming-first company taking over Warner Bros wasn’t something I expected.

My concern is Netflix’s stance on cinema. They’ve always pushed the idea that streaming is the only real future for entertainment. They rarely give their films proper theatrical releases, and even when they do, it’s limited to a few hundred cinemas in the U.S.

As a Nigerian viewer, you can’t even watch something like Frankenstein in a cinema.

So with Netflix now in control of Warner Bros, the big question is: will films like Dune Part 3, The Batman, Godzilla etc. end up as streaming-only titles instead of getting a full cinematic release?

None of these recaps are making sense to me.

I had to start afresh.

I'm almost done with season 2.

I will finish 3 and 4 by Friday and then onto the new season this weekend.

If they want to milk Moana so bad, why not do Moana 3 and Moana 4.

A live action Moana is not necessary nau.

The original Moana is doing just fine. Moana 2 grossed a billion dollars last year.

I used to think we don't need another Toy Story.

I thought it was another pointless cash grab from Disney but after seeing this teaser I'm interested like mad.

The villain being an iPad is such an interesting idea that is too good to pass up.

I want Toy Story 5 to show how too much screen time can limit a child's interest and hobbies and even contribute to social anxiety in children.

Frankenstein (2025)........8/10

It was a really good film. Great dialogue and acting.
While Oscar Isaac was the focus & mad genius; Jacob Elordi was the force of the beast, Mia Goth was the heart of the film.

Great film. The cinematography and production design was breath taking. This is one the films/projects that really do explain the views of the Creature so well. My fave of all remains what they did with this tale in Penny Dreadful. It is the best version of the Creature to me.

But still Guillermo Del Toro's version does a good job also of portraying the Creature as having good intelligence as opposed to some early versions. His rage, grievances and vengeance against Victor was well documented.

Some changes here and there in some characters and storyline especially Elizabeth's who's now betrothed to Frankenstein's brother instead of him....but overall the film was a very good one and handled the changes well where it actually served the story Guillermo Del Toro wants to tell.

It was a top top entertaining film. The visuals is just beautiful and this continues the tradition this year whereby horror genre has the best looks ans production design.
Best part of the movie fr

For this movie to make a billion, they have to recreate what his concerts felt like.

A significant part of the movie should show the iconic concerts and performances.

The super bowl halftime show which to this day remains one of the greatest super bowl halftime shows ever.

They need to recreate that from beginning to end.

Three home games starting from the midweek EPL clash against crystal palace may determine the future of Slot as LFC coach!

Three wins against crystal palace,Aston villa and real Madrid will calm nerves and ensure the victories will be a turning point for Liverpool!
Three defeats which of s most unlikely but very possible could cost Slot his job or even make the Liverpool board start looking for alternatives!

So if that happens,my first option will be the return of Klopp but knowing him too well,he would rather allow other managers to take over instead of him....which brings me to my second option which is the bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola!
Probably and arguably one of the best managers that could become head coach of Liverpool if and only if he wants to!

However, this can only happen if Slot doesn't start winning football games starting with Crystal palace and Liverpool goes on a free fall!
If Iraola doesn't want to leave.

I would suggest a wildcard option.

CESC FABREGAS

He took charge of FC Como and got them promoted to the Serie A for the first time in 21 years.

He finished 10th in his first season and he currently has them sitting 5th on the Serie A table.

He's a very intelligent young manager who understands football. He's not stubborn like Amorim.

Cesc Fàbregas's preferred formation is a 4-2-3-1, which he adapts in possession to a 3-2-4-1 by having a full-back push forward. He also uses a 4-3-3, a 4-1-4-1 when defending, and a 4-2-2-2 system, showing his flexibility in formations. His tactics emphasize building from the back, controlling the midfield, and fluid movement.

Gone are the days when big clubs in Europe rotate the same high profile managers.

Young managers with zero experience coaching elite clubs are stepping up nowadays.

Bayern Munich took a risk by getting Kompany after he relegated Burnley and he transformed the club in less than two seasons.

Young managers are 50/50 but you'll never know which one will turn out great until you take the risk and hire them.

Peacemaker season 2

Not as good as season 1 imo.

I liked the multiverse story. It was personal, emotional and incredibly well done.

I did not like everything else. Episodes 1 and 2 were good but the story starts going back and forth instead of moving forward steadily.

I don't see the justification for 8 episodes. This season could easily be just 6 episodes. Some episodes are barely 35 minutes with mostly filler and sub plots I didn't care for.

But the season peaks with episodes 6 and 7.

I consider those two episodes as one of the best episodes of TV I have seen in 2025. It was remarkable, emotional and incredibly well written.

John Cena delivered arguably the best acting performance of his whole career.

The season finale was terrible. It brought down the whole season for me. It didn't resolve Peacemaker's arc and it left me confused and unsatisfied.

The finale was basically a one hour post credit scene. It was just a means to set up future DCU stories and it was done at the expense of this show.

Also does James Gunn realize that he just made Peacemaker a must watch with the whole Salvation set up?
Skipping Peacemaker season 2 will leave you confused when you see salvation universe in future DCU projects.

This is one of the problems MCU had. Their Disney+ shows became an unnecessary homework you had to get through to understand the movies.

I admit I'm having a "James Gunn" fatigue.

I'm tired of the man and his style. The DCU started with too much James Gunn imo. All first three projects were written and directed by one man.
Even worse, all three projects were written within 2 years and it shows.

I can't wait for next year. I want to see other filmmakers with their different styles and tone.
The DCU needs some variety. James Gunn should take a break.

Peacemaker season 2 is a 6/10

If I stopped at episode 7, I would have rated it 7.5/10.

That finale is so awful.

PEACEMAKER SEASON 1

Slow start, strong finish

Nothing much happened in episodes 2 to 4. Just jokey moments and some character development.
But episodes 5 to 8 were especially strong, emotional and compelling.

Awesome finale too.

This show started in 2016 and this is the fifth season!! I have all but forgotten what even happened in the last season, which was 3 whole years ago! 😭😭. This show is all that is wrong about TV shows these days, because there wasn't a logical reason it has taken this long. Millie Bobby Brown was 12 years old when this show started, now she is married with a kid!!

Yeah, the show should come and go abeg...i have zero anticipation for it, infact, i am having an inkling this final season sucks balls.
I blame the Duffer Bros and their over inflated ego for this.

Even Game of Thrones didn't take three years in between seasons.

We had eight seasons of GOT in exactly eight years.

It took Duffer Bros 9 years to do five seasons of a show that didn't cost as much as GOT.

Baddestguyp:
The 2.5 multiplier is used when we don't know the advertising cost.
Cinemas take 50% of movie earnings and a base 0.5 or 50% of a movie's production budget is used as it's advertising costs...that's where the 2.5x multiplier comes in...

Now that the advertising cost and other costs have been revealed, then you can't just apply a base 2.5x multiplier.

You just don't want to admit the sad reality that Superman 2025 was a box office bomb.

Don't worry, it will still make money from streaming to cover it's loses
You don't use advertising cost in the calculation.

Only use the budget.

It's only in rare cases that marketing budget is used and even then, the formula is different.

It's production budget + marketing budget x 1.5

The most widely accepted and simplified calculation is still budget x 2.5

You're forgetting that marketing is a different department. Every movie is marketed, big or small regardless of the production budget.

How come no one calculates marketing for low budget horror movies and other movies below $100m.
Do you think those smaller movies don't get marketing too?

From the article, it didn't break even. It lost about 50m.
It broke even.

Whoever wrote the article doesn't understand Hollywood maths.

The most simplified formula is budget x 2.5

Superman's budget is 225m

225m x 2.5 = 562m

That's the break even point

The blame should be on Liverpool.. They left it too late
They left it late to force Crystal Palace to agree to favourable terms and it worked until the coach said no.

Liverpool would have ended up paying close to £50m if they tried to sign Guehi too early.

They still have the advantage because next year they can get him for free.

Crystal Palace are the biggest loosers here.

It's up to Liverpool to sign Guehi to pre-contract agreement in January to fend off interest from other clubs that might attempt to get him for free.
