sunnyelevates: Labour Party crisis deepens as national treasurer bags six-month suspension for accusing Abure of N3.5bn embezzlement
The spokesman told journalists that the decision to sanction her was taken after she failed to honour an invitation by the party’s NWC to resolve the conflict.
He said, “After the 2023 general election, Labour Party was marked for total annihilation by the system for daring to upstage the status quo of the political class. Little did we know that the fumigation was far from complete until late last year when signs emanated that our National Treasurer, Ms. Oluchi Opara, a key member of the executive, turned out to be a mole in the house and has continued networking with the expelled members of the party leadership.
“Convinced that the treasurer is on a mission to stifle life out of our very cherished party, an emergency NWC was summoned on February 13. Arising from the meeting, the NWC set up a disciplinary committee to try Opara for bringing the party to disrepute.
“To exercise its powers as contained in the party’s Constitution with the intention of a fair hearing, the NWC extended an invitation to her to appear before it today, February 14 by 10 a.m. to discuss the development. The party regrets that the treasurer shunned the invitation by the disciplinary committee to clear herself.
“We see this as an affront to the party leadership and millions of our members who are watching how their party’s image which they have laboured hard to build is trolled by one ingrate. https://livetips.com.ng/labour-party-crisis-deepens-as-national-treasurer-bags-six-month-suspension-for-accusing-abure-of-n3-5bn-embezzlement/ Shameless Criminals, too late, the beans has already been spilled. Femmyfamous4u: That's the truth though. We are so quick to call on FG while these governors siphon allocation every month and do nothing. By now, every state should be able to grow what they eat. Take Delta State for instance, they have been governed by Pdp for 25 years in May, they have collected the highest allocation from The FAAC for 10 straight years, but the Mumu Indigenes in their bloated ignorant pride, will still blame APC FG in Abuja for the poverty & lack of social, & structural development in their state? |

The Governors and LG Chairmen are responsible for the above with assistance from the Federal Government. The State Governors & Local Government in the States are the main culprits, they add no value to the system. Tinubu & The FG in Abuja should feed the Almijiris in Gombe & Jigawa, then come & feed the educated scholars in Anambra & Abia abi? |

Cmeo: The Presidency has charged state governors and council chairmen to wake up to their responsibilities as a panacea to food crisis and hardship in Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Nigeria would be better if governors and local government chairmen boost food production in their domain.
Posting on X, Onanuga berated governors for blaming the Federal Government for the food shortage in the country.
“Let the governors and council chairmen wake up to their responsibilities. The Federal Government is not the only actor in town.
“You have your duties cut out for you. Imagine each state making efforts to boost food production in its domain, build one world class hospital, good roads, good schools etc. Imagine what our country would have become.
“But while governors and the councils shirk their responsibilities, they are quick to call out the Federal Government, which is far away from the people those governors govern.
“Let all governors govern well, along with their councils, food inflation, at least, will disappear. Our Federalism may not be perfect, but we are not a unitary state, where everything must flow from the centre,” he said.

albert2512: How many state fit subsidize electricity. Any state wey subsidize is taking it back through back door, trust me this might be worse for the economy if not well implemented. Well to a large extent, electricity has been moved to the legislative concurrent list as demanded by you Nigerians, it is no longer the exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal government. So the sooner you people brace up in the States, the better for you, States will pay according to their electricity demand & consumption, I don’t expect Lagos & Kebbi to have the same tarrifs. Same goes for fuel subsidy, the states where the fuel is consumed, should be the ones to pay the subsidy not the FG @ the center. I don’t expect the price of petrol to be the same in Lagos State, as in Kebbi state. |

Ategberoson: Removing fuel subsidy without the function of national refineries is undemocratically foolish Foolish Indeed, keep abusing yourself, law way una pass yourselves to remove subsidy after 20 months of it coming into effect virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act? Ignorance no be excuse: In accordance with Section 205 of the PIA , the pricing of petroleum products must operate under unrestricted free market conditions; hence the Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) and the subsidy system have been abolished. For your ignorance, PEF was the government body in charge of maintaining uniformity in petroleum product pricing. |

Ategberoson: Tinubu is not as smart as I thought,Buhari couldn't remove subsidy for 8yrs then he lure you to remove it
What's bad in govt paying heavily on the fuel subsidy because savings from it has no benefit to Nigerians
He's plain dumb to have assent the removal of fuel subsidy a week of his inauguration. From his first week that Nigerians just recovered from Buhari naira scarcity he brought his own hardship
He should be ashamed to identify himself as a financial expert Tinubu the brave leader with the Midas vision for prosperity, who grabbed the bull by the horn, & did what all his predecessors before him were afraid to do. Strong man Jagaban. |

grandstar: All the countries in West Africa that enjoy 24 hour supply do not subsidize. It is pricey.
If the generators of the power can not cover their costs as well as the Discos, then don't be surprised at the power cuts.
Nigerians want things for free. Cheap and inefficiency can not be divorced.
Nigerians can afford to pay the full market price for power. I stay in a 3 bedroom flat. I rarely spend beyond 3k a month on power. Assume power prices triples if subsidy is removed, that would mean 9k monthly. If in exchange the power becomes constant, that would be a blessing. Why?
I can spend that same amount or more within two days using a generator. The benefits far outweigh the disbenefit of any price increase. Your damn right. |
