Governors should take advantage the electricity law and generate, transmit and distribute power to their states!
It will even be a humongous source IGR for the state!
Even if it means borrowing, they should embark on it in order provide electricity for their state!

Oga minister you are only doing the bidding of your slave masters thee IMF. Nigerians you were warned against Tinubu but you chose tribal sentiments. Now in abid to legitimize his candidacy anything IMF tells him, he will do. No wonder Niger, Chad,Mali & Burkinafaso left Ecowas. It was nothing but a huge slave market for europeans

Don't you understand what the man is saying? He isn't speaking Fulfude?

He said the government can no longer afford the subsidy. It does not take a rocket scientist to know this. The nation is bankrupt. Last year, debt servicing was to consume 96% of revenue earnings. Where's the money then to even run the budget. Practically everything would be borrowed.

The minister said the federal government is owing the Discos 1.3trillion and Gencos $1.3bn. Yet, you want the subsidies to still continue. How are they supposed to operate optimally with such unpaid debts? Despite that, you condemn the IMF.

The man said 450bn was calculated for subsidy this year but ministry needs 2trillion. It is obvious the government cannot afford the subsidy and yet you condemn the IMF? Do you want the federal government to borrow money or print it to solve it, adding to the crushing debt burden?

All the countries in West Africa pay a cost reflective price for their power. It is pricey but it's constant.

I pay about 3k monthly for power for a 3bedroom flat. Were I to pay a cost reflective price, it would shoot up to like 9k. That is still cheap considering cost of running a generator for 2 days would be more than that.

What the IMF will advice you is no different from what Charles Soludo or Pat Utomi would say. They are economists, liberal economists. They are technocrats. They will not tell you what you'd like to here.

If Nigerians want constant power, they must be ready to pay a cost reflective price for it. These power companies aren't charity organizations. There is no incentive to invest if armtwisted to sell at a loss.

Till we have stable electricity...

Subsidy must remain.

If we will be paying premium ...we should enjoy premium service ..

So, provide the premium service first, to justify premium payment.

Foolish Indeed, keep abusing yourself, law way una pass yourselves to remove subsidy after 20 months of it coming into effect virtue of the Petroleum Industry Act?

Ignorance no be excuse:

In accordance with Section 205 of the PIA , the pricing of petroleum products must operate under unrestricted free market conditions; hence the Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) and the subsidy system have been abolished.

For your ignorance, PEF was the government body in charge of maintaining uniformity in petroleum product pricing.

You just like spewing rubbish. Even if we all agreed he's not fit for that ministry, can you match his intellectual prowess? See the way you addressed a former deputy governor of CBN as if you have reached such status in your life. Even if you have achieved something substantial in life which I doubt, is that how to address human being like you calling him a mad man?
he is a mad man… he got to those positions due to nepotism, and man know man.

You too, you are a mad man for supporting rubbish.

Thunder fire all you APC supporters.

Just reading figuures submitted to him without understanding the significance.
Imagine, an accountant is now the best brain that can now manage the lifeline of a Nation such as power!
This man should be careful in his eyeservice to his boss. He should remember his goal, not forgetting the crop of people he will present himself to.
Use your office to do the right thing now or else...

How many state fit subsidize electricity. Any state wey subsidize is taking it back through back door, trust me this might be worse for the economy if not well implemented.

Well to a large extent, electricity has been moved to the legislative concurrent list as demanded by you Nigerians, it is no longer the exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal government.

So the sooner you people brace up in the States, the better for you, States will pay according to their electricity demand & consumption, I don’t expect Lagos & Kebbi to have the same tarrifs.

Same goes for fuel subsidy, the states where the fuel is consumed, should be the ones to pay the subsidy not the FG @ the center.

I don’t expect the price of petrol to be the same in Lagos State, as in Kebbi state.
