OBJ : Jonathan , Jonathan ., Jonathan ARE U ALIVE your people want to know what you achieved as assistant/governor in Bayelsa. ![]() |
Four cement manufacturers write Jonathan for import license Date of the Article was FEBRUARY 28, 2011 FOUR indigenous cement manufacturers under the auspices of the Cement New Entrants Stakeholders have written to President Goodluck Jonathan, requesting him to grant each of them import license for five million metric tons of cement between now and 2015. In a letter dated February 16 and addressed to the President, the four new entrants with own terminal: Prince David Iweta of Madewell Products Limited; Vincent Nehikhare of Eastern Bulkcem Company Limited; Chief Reagan Ufomba of Cement Company Limited; and Kola Sowande of Westcom Technologies & Energy Services Ltd, said granting them import license was a sure way to forcing down cement price to N1,000 per bag and breaking the current monopoly of a cabal in the industry. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/02/four-cement-manufacturers-write-jonathan-for-import-license/ iF GEJ really cares about the Nigerian Masses - he knows what to do - but rather he chooses to issue a directive to his friend begging them to reduce the price of cement. Who is he deceiving. |
Cement manufacturers in the country have petitioned the Presidency alleging that the Ministry of Commerce had opened the gate for the importation of the product into the country, thus jeopardising their investments. The petition, spearheaded by Alhaji Aliko Dangote is currently receiving the attention of President Umaru Yar'Adua, who has directed the Minister of Finance, Mr. Mansur Mukhtar, to constiuting the Committee, the Minister of Finance is on a fact-finding tour of cement plants in the country. |
This is what YAR ADUA TRIED TO DO before the Policy was reserved because Dangote was not happy Date of the article - 5 July 2009 Prices of cement have been on the rise and government, in a bid to check trend, gave import licence to some Nigerians to import the commodity with a view to bringing down its price. As a result, President Yar'Adua had last year lifted the ban on importation of bulk cement and granted import licences to six new firms along with the existing cement manufacturers to flood the market with the product and force prices down. |
Another waste of time directive - How does GEJ intend to achieve this. I laugh in yoruba . yet many Nigerians are rejoicing . In this country sha we like to celebrate " MEDIOCRITY" We dont live in dictatorship era - so it wont work in Nigeria . This is not Venezuela. We have all seen with the telecommunication industry how increased competition forces down prices and not dictatorship directive. The monopoly of cement making has to be broken - until then GEJ/Masses are wasting their time. this time Next year a b\g cement will be 5000 Naira. watch this space. |
edoyad:He was to referring to internal walls - external walls will still be made of bricks and concrete. If adopted will generally bring down the cost of house building |
Nigeria on whole did not witness any meaningfull development except for some states. Till today electricity and many more issues are still outstanding. The lack of development was blamed on the "UNKNOWN CABALS " some called them generator cabals other called it " TURAI " cabal. These CABALs between (2007 - 2011) forever hindered any meaningful plans of the government ( So they say). Fast forward " 2011 - 2015 " The latest UNKNOWNS are now " the North" hence any planned development programs will be scarified for the fight against these LATEST CABALS. So far we are hearing " NORTH PLANS TO DESTABILISE INAUGURATION DAY", "NORTH WANTS TO KILL GEJ" , " NORTH WILL NOT ALLOW ME GIVE YOU LIGHT" , " NORTH WILL NOT ALLOW ME SEE MY WIFE " So brace yourself - They say " Excuses are tools of the incompetent, and those who specialize in them seldom go far" |
Beaf:LOL if refusing to celebrate mediocrity is now called " BITTERNESS" in your dictionary then feel free to call me bitter - ![]() |
Gboliwe:I am not bitter - Putting National interest first outweighs personal interests . |
Beaf:Please BEAF move aside - WE ARE NOT DISCUSSING ZONING here - These are real issues that impact the lives of common man |
Please put sentiments aside and stop celebrating mediocrity Nigeria is roughly 30 years ( if not more) backward in relation to infrastructure development and the continually celebration of mediocrity widens this gap. The right Nigerians given the chance will surely transform our beloved country. Please note BRF/Lagos state is not an exception. Amaechi is doing a wonderfully job in Rivers . I visited Rivers state in 2008 for the first time and more recently in 2010 . Rivers state is witnessing massive transformation , Schools rebuilt, Medical Centres rebuilt, equiped and at least 60% of the major road were tarred (April 2010). GEJ might be good man but lets be honest - I dont think he has the intellectual capacity move Nigeria from the corrupt status quo. Whilst GEJ has spent the last three weeks discussing ZONING the likes of BRF and Amaechi continue to strive in the right direction BRF has gone to Canada to inspect ongoing train project that will improve the lives of the masses RiverS Sate Governor Rotimi Amaechi has unfolded the focus of his new administration after May 29. He will complete ongoing school and hospital projects, get youths employed, hold more town hall meetings and ensure more transparency in the administration of the state. In a statement yesterday Amaechi said: My focus is consolidation, complete what I have started. Don’t leave behind any project that can become an abandoned project. Complete the secondary and primary schools, health centres, the Monorail, focus on the new city and ensure that we do the internal roads, provide potable water, provide public facilities, to complete the new university and the malls we want to build in the new Greater Port Harcourt city. "We will focus on the general hospitals before we leave, but we believe we should take medical services to the people. |
hercules07:Lol - Na article - and no be me 0 @post Team GEJ we dey wait ooo - Beaf how far now |
Gej is devoid of solutions - you will get more results seeking changes from your Governor . A man who has spent the last 3 weeks after an election discussing zoning rather than tackle real issues head on. Is that not a sign confirming un seriousness . This is what happens when " LUCK " is your main driver Well Nigeria deserves the likes of Jonathan - Mediocrity is the order of the day. |
udezue:The guy gives a new meaning to sycophancy - At least beaf is not like typical Nigerian politician whose interests are determined by their stomach Beaf - I hail oo |
Rossikk:lol - We are not deceived. only inept governments hide behind the unknown when they have nothing to offer the masses. For the last 4 years Nigerian were hoodwinked on the unknown " CABALS" . This time it is the " North wont allow me do my work " Please give me a break. THe only thing Chasing GEJ is his shadows. |
DSP/GEJ legacy in Bayesla - YEt you want GEJ to fix Nigeria - If only goats could fly The total population of Bayelsa state is 1,703,358; it’s the least populated in the nation. Bayelsa received 5,325,414,955.84 (Naira) in May 2004 from federal account (PDF document); the second highest in the nation. This works out to 3,126.42 Naira per citizen . The highest allocation-per-citizen ratio* in the country And this is just from federal account, the figure doesn’t include locally generated revenue. *Allocation-per-citizen comparison: Nassarawa state in northern Nigeria=609.22; Delta state another oil-producing state=1,562.35. Though Bayelsa is sparsely populated, it is one of the states in the oil-rich Niger-Delta - an impoverished region enveloped by years of endemic sectarian violence and decades of environmental degradation. With its natural resources - Bayelsa has a sizable portion of the oil and gas that bankrolls the Nigerian government - and based on the data presented above, it is mind boggling why the state remains so underdeveloped and its people impoverished. It can be argued that because of its very difficult terrain (riverine, swampy, marshland with mangrove vegetation), the cost of infrastructure development in Bayelsa is several times that of a “dry-land” state. This is a valid argument; however, with population of 1.7 million people, developing Bayelsa shouldn’t be a Herculean task - if the leaders know what they are doing. And this hasn’t been the case; with the likes of D.S.P Alamieyeseigha - the former governor, who’s now on trial for corruption - the fortune of the state has been grossly mismanaged. |
hollandis:Yet Bayesla receives the second largest federal allocation in the country - who is the daft one now |
hollandis:What a shame - did i strike nerve. According to warped logic - no point investing in Lekki cause it is swampy omo ode |
hollandis:You are definitely from Bayelsa - the reason why you are so backward. If the people of Dubai had a thought pattern like yourself dubai would never have been built. Dubai was a former desert turned into wonderful because of a focused leadership . Yet you claim bayesla is criss-crossed with pipelines hence no development. What a shame Education has surely failed many |
Seun - please front page |
omg |
werepeLeri:Lol - As usual the empty barrels make the loudest noise - You that know his achievements - please feel free to share or shut up |
archive:Lol - What were your expectations when you started this thread - It is big SHAME NO body can attest to what gej has achieved in the last 2 to 7 years in government . Even his DUMB supporters have nothing to share. A man that is continually riding on luck. |
Abagworo:100% in agreement A government that has nothing to offer the masses will forever claim to be handicap or victim mentality . We have now graduated from the days of the " Cabal" to the " The North has planned evil for me " What a shame Nigerians dont realise the deceit |
yawns part 2 |
yawns |
Beaf:For somebody who has always advocated for true federalism - I am shocked incorrect - in the Nigerian context - regional parties are definitely the way forward. what has Nigerian gained from the last 12 years of national party. |
Beaf:yes 0000 please post your oga's achievement - rather than throw insults simple as abc |
Wagon ko keke maruwa ni nonsense |
