PoliticsJonathan Clocks 1 Year In Office, Thanks Nigerians by blacksta(op): 6:12pm On May 08, 2011
AS President Goodluck Jonathan clocks his first year in office today, he has thanked Nigerians for their contributions to the stability and progress of the country, saying that the interest of the people would form the basis of government’s decisions in the next four years of his administration.

In a message to mark the first anniversary of his assumption to the office of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity in Abuja, on Thursday, he hoped that the last general election had opened a new chapter of renewal and transformation in the county.

According to the statement, “looking ahead to his inauguration for a fresh term of office on May, 29, President Jonathan holds that a new chapter of renewal and transformation has been opened in Nigeria’s national life, with the peaceful, free and fair conduct of the 2011 general election.”

Jonathan urged all Nigerians to join hands with his administration and dedicate themselves to ensuring the country’s continued march into a new season of peace, harmony and socio-economic development.

The statement assured of President Jonathan’s commitment to building on the achievements of the past one year, by working to bring to fruition ongoing efforts to effectively tackle the critical developmental challenges.

^^^ My brother, I saw the thread since morning and was just wondering whether the posters did not bother to see the date of the article; know who Liyel Imoke is; or know anything about the plans being rolled-out by the current administration concerning the power sector.
Your focus should be " Has there been any notable change 5 years after  "  rather than worry about the date of article.
PoliticsRe: Imoke: Expect Stable Electricity By 2056 by blacksta(m): 3:02pm On May 08, 2011
Beaf:
I really wonder about NLer's some times. We have the usual crew here blaming GEJ, but as usual they never really bothered to read the article otherwise quite a few things would have jumped at them:
[li]Liyolel Imoke is no longer the minister of power and steel[/li]
[li]The article is dated, 05.14.2006[/li]
[li]GEJ was not even a part of the FG[/li]
[li]Obj was president[/li]
etc etc etc

Now, lets hear the idiotic excuses.
The date of the article is irrelevant - 5 years after still no change - we have had the same party in power yet things still have not change - for God's sake what happened to continuity. God forbid if anything happens to GEJ another president will come up with unachievable electricity generation proposals. The only way we will see stable generation is when government completely hands off electricity generation and distribution,

Their ratings are unimportant at the moment.
I think you are wrong - for a country seeking FDI i will say rating are important - would u like to throw your money at a failed economy and also when it comes to government seeking to raise a bond - ratings do help in getting favourable interest rates.

@post

GEJ is suspect when it comes to handling economic matter - A man selecting ministers from a pool of Akala, Oyinola , Bankole, Iyabo and other failed politicians

Idiotic response from a PDP agbero - Where is your proof that 2billion is collected on monthly basis - Even BRF denied such claims

i would rather you stick to delta politics where another mumu called Udadaghan is forever running on deficit with no substantial

evidence on ground. Many worthy successor are ground to start wherever BRF finishes - Mr Muiz Banire is waiting in the

shadows

unlike the likes of Akala,Segun Oni, or OGD (PDP Best) which you gladly celebrate

Does not diminish the fact that GEJ is still a very weak president - who would still starve to death if you lock him up in a food supermarket. A man with no known record of service delivery or implementation. Unfortunately his luck don run out since yesterday.

use and dump  -  The same 55 parties that endorsed GEJ as their presidential candidate.  Now it seem fit to wipe them out.

Nigerians dont be fooled -  Nobody complained when mago mago endorsements of GEJ was going on

if a party has one or two support it is nobody business and it will be injustice to erase them from the register. Any attempt to turn Nigeria into two party state should be rejected
