According to the colonial masters, the amalgamation of Nigeria was a deal accepted by the southern and northern part. What happened in 2015 was not a mistake. Of we notice very well, a new country is igniting small small by American government assembling new things in the south. This is a warm up. The north still want a bigger name Nigeria, but the agreement have expired since 2014. |
The agreement was to last for 100years only The real story On December 31st, 2014, the document that amalgamated Nigeria into one country would expire. The British colonial edict of 1914 could be renewed or denounced, and the Nigerian state could stay united or split into several entities. We ought to agree either to extend it [amalgamation edict] or not THAT IS WHY THE NORTH WANT POWER TO REMAIN IN THEIR HANDS. IF THEY ALLOW POWER TO THE SOUTH OR EAST .. NIGERIA IS NO MORE NIGERIA. JUST HAD RO BRING BACK HISTORY Starting from January 1, 2014, Nigerians and power brokers of the fourth republic must decide whether or not the country should remain a united entity. The Movement for a New Nigeria (MNN), a secessionist organisation has emerged to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding the colonial order, and the array of ethnic and tribal centred problems. “We ought to agree either to extend it [amalgamation edict] or not,” MNN secretary general Tony Nnadi told reporters on 10 December. For many, the clogs in the wheels of Nigerian unity began even before the Union Jack was lowered for the green and white flag. As established by scholars, public figures, and political commentators, the 1914 amalgamation edict authored by Britain’s Lord Frederick Lugard was illegitimate because it was done without a referendum. It has also been criticised for ignoring the complexities of the ethnic and cultural divisions of the Niger-area. Hundred years after Nigeria’s amalgamation, the north has remained the North, and so has the East and the West. Consequently, advancing the Nigerian state has lagged behind regional placations. As the 1914 British order expires, Nigerians must be prepared to address the state of the nation and its continuity through a national conference or the National Assembly. Nigerians must be willing to talk about its existence as a unified entity. In the words of Nigerian scholar Femi Ajayi, “refusing to talk is like wanting to avoid variance in our daily life”. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo tried to get Nigerian power brokers to talk about the country’s unity, but the 2005 National Political Reforms Conference, fell through. Likewise, President Goodluck Jonathan proposed his national conference to discuss Nigerian unity and continuity. The expiry of the amalgamation pits Jonathan’s proposed national conference against growing disillusionment, religious and ethnic divisions, political posturing, and terrorism in Nigeria. The implications of the 1914 edict under the current state of affairs in Nigeria are complex: Legally, Nigeria would seize to exist after 2014; the country would return to the pre-1914 structure that is the Lagos colony, the northern and southern protectorates; and the Nigerian people must re-enter a new agreement under their own terms. Contingency plans have been reported to be underway by foreign powers who are convinced that Nigeria would split by 2015. Nevertheless, in a pivotal phase of the fourth republic, Nigeria must decide whether or not it wishes to challenge the legality of the 1914 amalgamation edict or continue or abandon the dictates of the order. Apparently, if there is a consensus, Nigeria’s continued existence can be negotiated and a new union treaty created. |

Only about 11 per cent of Nigerians have access to clean cooking fuel, a new World Bank report has revealed. According to the report, only about one in five people (about 17 per cent) in Sub-Saharan Africa have access to clean cooking fuels. The report, titled “2022 tracking SDG7 (Access to clean cooking)”, stated that much more needed to be done, as about a third of the global population—some 2.4 (2.1–2.7) billion people—still lacked access to clean cooking fuels as of 2020. Over the past decade, access to clean fuels and technologies for cooking rose by only 12 percentage points. If current trends continue, a quarter of the world’s people, mostly in low- and middle-income countries, will lack access to clean cooking fuels by 2030. According to the report, between 2010 and 2020, the global rate of access to clean cooking fuels and technologies increased at an average annual rate of one percentage point (0.5–1. , driven primarily by increases in large, populous countries in Asia.It also noted that in Sub-Saharan Africa, however, the number of people without access is increasing at an accelerating rate In a business-as-usual scenario, the number of people without access to clean cooking in Sub-Saharan Africa is set to increase by almost 20 million every year this decade, rising from 923 million in 2020 to over 1.1 billion in 2030, as small gains in the percentage of people with clean cooking fail to keep pace with population growth. |

[[s]quote author=TechBIogger post=113363724]The notorious Canceller on politics section has finally been put to his place. After receiving numerous complaints of his cancelling activities on this forum, Seun finally removed the strike through feature from nairaland. Henceforth, no nairalander can strike through (cancel out) people's posts. It was necessary to tame that troll that lacks respect for people's political opinions but rather takes it personal and even goes as far as defaming and blackmailing his targets all because of political differences.[/quote][/s] |

It was a done deal Question: who then will be the first lady of the state?
|
My sadness turn joy the very moment i saw this result and made this post. One thing I know about Rev.Alia is that, he oppose anything that is not truth, no matter how you try to bend it. Most politicians will be scared and most will leave Benue soon. Akume did that purposely to expose them, the very moment Ortom forced Ayu into the national chairman post of PDP, Akume lost his post as national chairman of APC. The back bite is bringing up who will become the next governor that will make Ortom lost his way to Abuja. APC may likely sweep all the seats in Benue... But thou as @Tk4all said, I doubt if that will happen. The good one's will be voted irrespective of their political party. Remember what happened in 2019 |
