PoliticsIgbo Ressistance 1967 Vs 2017 What Has Changed? by BlowBack(op): 12:02pm On Jun 08, 2017
Basking from the pyrrhic uncivil war of 1967, Nigerians have been threatening to unleash another round of barbarity to prevent another secessionist bid by the Igbos.

But are the events and factors of 1967 in anyway comparable to what we have today?

Comparing what led to Biafra declaration back then and today we can discern a whole lot of differences.

The Igbos had no choice to declare Biafra after they were chased out of Nigeria. The pogroms in Northern Nigeria and general anti-igbo sentiments from the rest of Nigeria forced the Igbos to withdraw back to their ancestral homelands.

The declaration of war wasn't even an act of the newly created Biafra nation but by the same Nigerian govt bent on continuing their genocidal war on the Igbos.

The Igbos between 1967 to 1970 had to put aside their emotional trauma, financial incapacitated state, contend with starting life anew at the same time building a nation from scratch and to respond to a jihadist war declaration.

The Igbos had virtually no financial institutions or industrial base but for 3 yrs had to develop a military complex to build their own weaponry against a hostile nation state that was spoilt with an abundance of world war 2 military surplus by their foreign allies.

No mean feat.

Biafra did not lose the actual ground war but on the diplomatic front.

With a kill ratio of 5 to 1 and going against an army of 250,000 to just under 30,000 Biafran troops, the Igbos not only excelled valiantly but were able to influence the Nigerian war cabinet to assume other non-conventional methods such as the hunger policy of Awolowo and the eastern blockade to force a surrender agreement.

Today, things are not the same as in 1967.

The Igbos have a flourishing manufacturing industrial base. Propaganda by the Ibadan expressway press has since tried to downgrade Igbo industrialisation in place of the packaging plants in the Ogun free trade zone. This is where propaganda has biten back because the average Nigerian has come to assume Igbo industrial Base as non-existing.

In the event of another war, the industrial base of the Igbo states can be commandeered to support a war effort. Recall the Igbos had to build factories from scratch back in 1967 as there were virtually no industries in Igbo land. Can Nigeria afford to fight an enemy who produces her own weapons of war while they hang around Washington begging for arms?

In the event of a full scale war, the Igbo nation with its teeming highly professional diaspora can influence the war effort in favour of the Igbos from the diplomatic standpoint. This same Igbo diaspora has been highly active and influential in campaigning overseas for a Biafran State as can be seen with the highly dedicated and coordinated effort of IPOB members and their increasing support base abroad.

The financial contribution of this same diaspora will be another factor which the Igbos of 1967 did not have.

Most importantly we have to consider the psychological disposition of your average Igbo man in 1967 and in 2017.

As earlier started, the Igbos had to suppress all traumas and daunting doubts to build and defend their new nation state.

The Igbos of today are not on that psychological disadvantage. They are angrier and more determined. They are not going to fight from a defensive point but with an aggression to avenge all the wrongs metted on the Igbo people since 1960. IPOB hate narrative was a war cry and it has brought about a defiant and angry Igbo man that has since forgotten and abandoned the Nigerian project. Counter hate speech from other groups (notably the Yorubas) and govt sponsored propaganda and military clampdown have not in any way benefited the Nigerian govt agenda of suppressing Igbo agitation but has made these generation more angry and defiant.

I believe anyone threatening another war on the Igbos should consider that this time around the Igbos will not go down easy and any war will showcase the already failed state and expose the unprofessionalism and cowardice of the corrupt Nigerian army.

Foreign AffairsMI5 Blackmailing Of Qatar To Prevent Joint Iranian Pipeline by BlowBack(op): 11:00am On Jun 08, 2017
Things have been moving really fast since Qatar decided to quit Syria and move onto the alternate Iran pipeline route.

The newly conceived option by the Qataris in seeking Iranian partnership has also dumped the EU as the primary market for the huge North well gas reserves (the third largest in the world) in preference to China. You will recall that China of late unveiled an ambitious plan to reopen the ancient silk Road. With China's commitment also comes a more secured route. With the EU already floundering on the verge of both political and financial bankruptcy, the Qataris were right to stop meddling with regime change in Syria. This has angered not just the Saudis and other vassal gulf Kingdom states but apparently those in Europe who had hoped to reap a ton of money from the proposed gas pipeline.

The Saudis have taken it as a personal betrayal among brothers and a slap on their sectarian jihadist Sunni coalition to see Qatar (a fellow Arab bedouin and Sunni emirate) align with Shia Tehran.

The US feels threatened by this move as it will surely see to the end of the era of a global petroldollar hegemony.

The global criminal banksters based in wall Street and London have enough to worry as the world economic and financial hubs slips away from the West to China. The Chinese Yuan has been waxing strong ever since Qatar was expelled by Saudi Arabia and gold demands by China have increased by 50% and is expected to continue doubling as the weeks pass. This translates to China asserting herself and prepping her currency against the paper US dollar.

So far Qatar isn't bulging and the West and evil house of Saud have began throwing everything at Qatar (including the kitchen sink).

Qatar is no saint. Far from it, Qatar never hid their support for radical terrorist groups like ISIS and the since banned Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (personal favourites of the disgraced Obama administration).

What is ironic about the whole fiasco is for Saudi Arabia to accuse others of sponsoring Terrorism. Be that as it be another particular mind-boggling lie in this era of "fake news" is the claim by British intelligence outfits who claimed the Qatari ambassador email hacks where the handiwork of Russia.

The same MI5 about 3weeks back raided the hotel suite of a Qatari princess on the complaints of "noise disturbances" - when has the MI5 started responding to domestic cases of noise pollution? Well your guess is as good as mine. The raid on Princess Salwa's suit was leaked by the same MI5 who for some reasons where the first on the scene, and from there the world was informed of her having a sex orgy with 7 men! If that wasn't a set up then I don't know what to call it.

Then coming back to the ambassador emails, the MI5 personally briefed President Trump that the Emir of Qatar placed a bounty of over 200 million dollars in bit coins for any one who will assassinate him. This surely got Trump mad. But after reviewing that the same MI5 which originally claimed that the emails where hacked by Russian linked hackers, Trump wondered why the same MI5 who were responsible for leaking a fake security dossier memo during the US elections will now be gracious enough to inform him of an assassination plot. Well Trump has since doubled down on Qatar and is negotiating a peaceful settlement with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf kingdoms.

MI5 and the useless EU and UK are the main problem with this world.

Power projects are built by government money only for private firms to grab them after billions has been spent (Is that subsidy or what?)

We are saving SWF when our local businesses don't have access to credit and need money to expand and create more jobs.

You say one thing against the president and it becomes a tribal issue, Our Finance minister just announced that the hard working and honest Nigerians won't get salary for September and October.

Lagos and Kano which are over populated don't even have the amenities to control disease outbreak. If a killer commutable disease breaks out in these two cities, the death toll will be too high because we lack disease control amenities and cultures.

In this same nation where millions are jobless, hungry and hopeless, Our president is renovating airports, buying 1 billion Naira food, our Senators are earning $100k (it is more than this) per month.

Meanwhile Tinubu and the Opposition are hell bent on stating obvious faults.

Pastors are preaching repentance and hell to hungry and hopeless men. Building schools with congregations' money and charging what 95% of the congregation can't afford for their children.

Our Reps are sitting there getting fat on the people's money.

We are in trouble. If you are on this fucking internet, telling and lying to people that Nigeria is moving forward, may your children hate the sight of you. May your last day be full of regrets and tears. Comparing one of the greatest Generals from the 5 star club who commanded bought the Pacific, European and North African front to a quota system product known as Buhari is the height of abuse of the correlation theory.

How long did it take Buhari to rise to the rank of a General in the Nigerian Army - little less than 15yrs with a stint as a war criminal in a brutal civil war.

Eisenhower formulated the policy of reconstruction for both Japan and Germany and was an advocate of peace refusing entries from war hawks like Patton who wanted another war with the Russians.

The first open challenge to government authority in this area was by a tiny group of people who withdrew from the urban landscape of Maiduguri to rural Kanama in the Yunusari local government area of Yobe State in north-eastern Nigeria in December 2003. They referred to themselves as the “Nigerian Taleban” (sic).

Their choice of rural Kanama as camp was made with an eye for military details.

This site was carefully chosen for its remoteness and defensibility. The Kanama camp was forested and ensconced between two bodies of water near the Nigeria–Niger border. Trenches were dug and camouflaged across the only two access roads from Kanama and the exit road to Niger Republic, and sandbags were used to reinforce the defences. The militants then launched attacks on police stations and government buildings and generally wreaked havoc on the Yunusari, Tarmuwa, Borsari, Geidam, and Damaturu local government areas of Yobe State, between 21 December 2003 and 1 January 2004.

Between January and September 2004, this tiny group resurfaced and terrorised the inhabitants of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and Damboa, Bama, and the inhabitants of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and Damboa, Bama, Gwoza in neighbouring Borno State, attacking police stations and attempting prison breaks (Cook 2011: 10).

They finally took a last stand atop the Mandara Mountains, from where they were dislodged by the Nigerian military using artillery shells (ibid.). In October 2004, they took 12 policemen hostage in Kala Balge and not much was heard of the captives for a long time.

Members of this group were mostly young people in their twenties. This was a very diverse group, which also included females assigned domestic chores such as cooking and fetching firewood and water. Some of them were children of notable public figures, including a nephew of the then serving Governor of Yobe State, a son of the secretary to Borno State government, and five children of a local wealthy contractor.

Mohammed Yusuf was neither an active physical participant nor a prominent figure at Kanama.

However, he shared the same ideology as the group. The remainder of those who survived the Kanama misadventure joined Mohammed
Yusuf upon his return from exile in Saudi Arabia in 2005 to swell the group. The survivors of Kanama became the hawks within the Yusufiyya movement. Muhammad Ali - a veteran of al qaeda who fought in Afghanistan- , the leader of this incipient group, was in part responsible for initiating Mohammed Yusuf into militant jihadi ideology and world view.

Yusuf’s conversion from the mainstream Islam prevalent in his area of operation to the fringe Islamic movement which he nurtured and led occurred c. 2005. Even though Muhammad Ali was the dominant influence in the indoctrination of Mohammed Yusuf, it was the years under Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam that radicalised as well as apparently legitimised the dawah . This largely accounts for the sense of betrayal and the stupendous energy expended in attempts to dissuade Yusuf from his new-found ideology and chosen course by very prominent Wahhabi scholars such as Ja’afar Mahmud Adam, Sheikh Muhammad Abba Aji, and Imam Ali Gabchiya. Mohammed Yusuf usually agreed with Sheikh Ja’afar on the shortcomings and baselessness of his position in private disputations but reverted to his original position as soon as he conferred with his followers.

The constitution is very clear on this as an incapacitated President can be removed from office only that the powers to convene a medical board do not fall within the purview of the National Assembly but to the Federal Executive Council.

This is the only advantage the cabal is using to hold Nigeria to ransom.

The Senate however have the responsibility to conduct their own investigation and to force the British govt to put pressure on Buharis doctors to issue a medical report on the state of the President from where impeachment proceedings can begin.
