Yes, I take FarahAideed comment to be very factual. My concern about this war is why the hierarchy has not deemed it necessary to plant mines around our critical bases. Boko Haram, a rag tag group used these tactics, which was why Sambisa Forest became a fortress of some sort for their carnage. The use of these mines slowed down movement of our troops advancement buying BHT valuable time to carry out ambush. If BH is deploying such why are we not, considering the fact that metele is a border town to the chadian force, and they had tactically withdrawn from these war, leaving our base exposed. A five kilometers mined field radius around that base would have seriously damaged numbers of approaching BHT AA mounted gun trucks.

It doesn't baffle me how BHT are able to encircle a base like that. They know the first line of defense are shallow dug trenches which can be defeated by high calibre gun power. I bet BH would not carry out attacks in the dead of dawn if they knew they base was fortified with mines as those AA trucks they rely so much on will end up in pieces.

Mines around our bases would deter Boko Haram. The army authority should look into it.

Is Nigeria not signatory to the anti-mine article?

Mines also will not work as the Nigerian army does not require a string of permanent bases but rather the military must re-strategise from frontline trench warfare to blitz screen fast manoeuvres. This is easier said than done as communication and discipline as well training to fight in cohesive fashion will require a massive overhaul of the Nigerian Military manual.

Semi permanent remote bases like the one that came under attack just provide easy targets for BH who will just spy on them for weeks, picking their weakness and combat readiness from where they can launch an isolated and well cordinated strike.

If you have constant patrols in close contact to each other all over Borno, BH members will not know which to attack and if they dared to do so, an attack on one platoon will easily be repelled as support can be called in from every direction thereby entramping the enemy.

The point I've been making. I don't believe the weapons BH had were substantially better than ours, but there was a major difference: GUTS, ORIENTATION. From the videos I've sseen, those guys were fighting like wounded lions, it was all out, no holds barred. They were chanting, howling, yelling. . . Even me watching had goosebumps. embarassed

I'm not any means holding brief for this govt, and of course I totally support the need for higher grade sophisticated weapons, but beyond that we need to work on the orientation and training of these soldiers.

That's because they were high on meth.

There is also the drug induced state of the terrorist when they go into battle that must be considered as well.

Outside doctrinal radicalization, Boko Haram commanders rely heavily on pharmaceuticals such as Speed, LSD and Amphetamines to inspire and motivate their fighters to combat.

Amphetamines so far appear to be the drug of choice just as in the case of ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria. Amphetamines are widely favored by Jihadist commanders because it provides for stamina, courage, acts as a strength booster while staving off hunger pangs and fatigue. But most importantly, the choice of amphetamines by Boko Haram is mainly for it's ability as an emotional blocker - a good thing if you intend to behead and rape women and girls in order to send a message that you are all out to terrorize the society at large towards achieving your warped political aims.

Amphetamines also provide unusual bravado and courage that a normal sane and sober person won't dare risk. The drug is also known to provide super human capabilities in stamina and even strength. US soldiers in Iraq noticed this during the siege of Fallujah where Al Qaeda linked militants remained standing and fighting even after being shot. The infamous siege of an Indian hotel by Taliban trained and Pakistani linked Islamist which saw over 300 civilians and security agents shot dead lasted for well over 60 hours.Autopsy reports and blood test results on both killed and captured terrorist showed the were high on a cocktail of cocaine, LSD and steroids. Boko Haram has learnt very well from their fellow Islamic jihadist and ever since they became an organized fighting force the use of pharmaceuticals has played a heavy role in their combat readiness.

I once saw a video released by BH where their members where casually strolling into combat towards a fortified Nigerian Army base camp. Despite being under attack and with some of their members dropping like flies after getting shot, the terrorist just kept advancing forward like a wave of real life zombies. Now imagine you are in the position of a Nigerian soldier facing such an assault-naturally superstition will creep-in and you will be assuming that the BH members attacking you have been heavily fortified with some sort of voodoo charm and from there you will assume that your best option is to flee.

The Nigerian Govt has to address the proliferation of such illicit drugs flowing to BH as the drug remains their cardinal weapon. The drugs maybe coming from Libya or being produced in Sudan and shipped to BH through Chad or Cameroun. There is also the likelihood that the drugs are being manufactured in Nigeria as I can recall a news article where the NDLEA raided and shutdown an amphetamine factory in Delta state sometime last year with the said factory being operated by Mexican nationals who I assume would be linked to the Mexican Mafia.

The war on Boko Haram will be largely won if the Nigerian security networks look deeper into curtailing or outright blocking the flow of such powerful hallucinogenic to Boko Haram.

Are you referring to the Amnesty program? If yes, then you have no idea what transpired. The Amnesty program was a demonstration of goodwill from the president. It was a stick and carrot approach, of which the program was the carrot aspect of it. The stick part which you do not know is that the military launched an assault on all known militant camp, killing a good number of them.

Before then, these guys thought they were a match for the military, because they succeeded in killing some of our soldiers in small numbers. Some civilians even used the opportunity to taunt us. That we are lazy, and that the militants are more equipped than the military.

I tell them, "After God, is Government. The day the Nigerian government decides to put an end to this nonsense, it will do that, using the Nigerian soldiers."

And behold, sometime in 2009, something happened that made the government say "enough is enough." I cannot share what happened on this forum. It happened in Delta State. If you ask a military person who served in Niger delta at that time, he may tell you the story.

I will say the same on the Boko Haram issue, the day the Nigerian government decides to end Boko Haram, that day will be the beginning of the end of Boko Haram, and it is the Nigerian Soldiers (Army, Navy, Airforce) that will make it happen.

At the moment, the government is still using the lives of the soldiers to play politics and make money, which is one of the reasons the soldiers are not happy. One of the factors killing their morale.

I hope you get my point?

At the bolded: It couldn't have been more than the usual approach of sacking an entire community. Their usual trademark of leaving a trail of blood and sorrow.

Yaradua knew the Military's only approach was to raise down communities in order to force the civilian population to stop being sympathetic to the Militants. How did that same approach help the Nigerian Army after they raised down Boko Haram's and Yusuf compound in Borno? That move alone radicalized the jihadist more to the point where we are today and we are talking 9 straight years of sustained open warfare by BH on the Nigerian state and people.

Yaradua also knew that he will not get any sympathies from either the West or the Niger Delta people who voted massively for him so he took the only sensible option which was a political solution to solve a political problem.

The Nigerian Army would have suffered more if Yaradua had not granted amnesty and most likely Nigeria would have since broken up with the Niger Delta demanding for outright secession.

Spot on !!!! We really need to retool our military strategy ..

Yes but unfortunately that won't happen anytime soon as the Nigerian Military was re-engineered towards internal threats involving civilian uprisings. It exists only to maintain the Nigerian nation state and that is why Military bases exist across the country not to protect the people therein from external invaders but as a policing force with an occupational mentality.

The Nigerian Army has been having to many "victories" gunning down defenseless civilians and pillaging villages that they thought they were invisible. Then came Niger Delta Militants who not only used the swamp and creeks to their advantage but were able to force the Nigerian Govt to accede to their demands all because the Nigerian Army was totally clueless in dealing with them.

Now BH should be easier, since they operate in a more accessible environment and terrain but given that quota system and false bravado still thrives in the Nigerian Army, we see a bunch of Mai-ruwas, Mai Gworos and Mai Shais dealing massive blows to them on a daily basis.

Something is wrong and it is down to the Buhari types of incompetent officers that got commissioned into the army all because of their ethnicity and religion.

Our military capabilities shouldn't be at par with that of our enemy. Whatever the case may be, we must strive to have the upper hand materially and otherwise.

Having those materials we are talking about won't only enhance our physical capabilities, they'd also boost the morale of our fighters knowing they have superior weapons and advantage over their enemy.

That's what I'm saying.

Giving some one a chest of tools doesn't make him a mechanic.

Those weapons in the hands of a poorly trained, ill motivated and badly organized bunch of soldiers will sooner or later find their way to the hands of BH.

How many times have we read of BH members overrunning a fully stocked Nigerian base and from there showcasing the captured weapons to the world?

The problem isn't lack of weapons but very poor organization and strategy.

It's still all about lack of adequate training. Running from boko haram was one mistake too many. If all of them had stood their grounds and made their bullets count, we wouldn't be typing these too many RIPs.
Nigerian soldiers are resilient and always ready to pay the ultimate price, just give them the required training and gadgets.

During my UN mission days, the ones I did work with were all in high spirits.

My friend, this is not like in the movies.

One minute of a fire fight feels like an eternity.

They saw BH members numbering well over 500 streaming around them from every angle and they knew the nearest and fastest support they will get will not come.

These BH guys are known to down amphetamines when going for their missions.

The Americans first saw what amphetamines does in Iraq war. The drug is known to give unusual courage and strength. It has been dubbed the choice of drug for terrorists.

As for the Nigerian Airforce, count those ones out. They limit their operations to only daylight hours since none of their aircrafts is equipped with night vision or even common weather radars.

Boko Haram is basically composed of apprenticed terrorist who are trained on the job on how to fire an AK47 at anything in their way. They should be no match for the Nigerian military even when you consider the open vegetation they operate in.

In all honesty, I feel what we have in our arsenal are only fit for the museum. These antiquated weapons been given our gallant men, like someone pointed out can only be effective against unarmed civilians.

I was thinking, how many Night vision goggles are even available to these guys? How many night vision binoculars?

Wouldn't it be better our Airforce conducted some reconnaissance on the location of those blood suckers after which they send in a well armed Calvary to obliterate them at night?

That attack should serve as a major impetus for a holistic change of approach towards confronting these demons. We can't afford to keep recording such huge losses after the meagre gains we make.

So so sad.

Does your average BH insurgent have standard night vision googles?

I don't like reading about the lame excuse of not having weapons to fight with as this to me is not an excuse. The standard AK47 rifle issued to Nigerian army personnel is a very good weapon and is no more sophisticated than the same AK47 BH members carry.

The issue to me is that the men at front have been there for too long and need to be rotated at most every 6mths with fresh legs.

If I was to be in charge of running this war to uproot BH, I will do it with as many as 20,000 men in platoons with no more than 30 men under the command of a Lt. Each platoon will comprise of a medic, heavy gunner, sniper, scout team of 4 men, radioman, Platoon sergent and an explosives expert. I will organize four to five platoons within an operational area of no more than 10 mile radius under the command of a Major or Captain who will in turn report directly to a Company commander who will oversee the operations of 5-6 of the latter.

Situational Awareness is key and as such I will invest heavily in communications, drones and body cams. All info will stream direactly to base command in the very heart of Borno.

Military operations will be on for 24hrs. Why should BH get any sleep? Not on my watch. I WILL ENSURE THAT THEY KEEP RUNNING EVEN IN THEIR SLEEP.

If we can sustain such an intensive Search & Sweep operation for 72hrs, Bokos will be fatigued from mere lack of sleep.

Anyone who is not prepared to risk his life has no business in the military. So, the enemy being in possession of an anti aircraft should be enough reason for a fighter helicopter to run away from battle? The person flying that helicopter should face court martial.

Wrong! Soldering is not supposed to be a suicide venture. Yes the job is dangerous as being a soldier you are trained in the art of killing other soldeirs trained to do the same to you. But that is where the risk ends.

Proper planning and organization by military commanders is expected to mitigate that risk towards achieving a military advantage or victory.

I watched a Vice Magazine documentary on Boko Haram and how the Nigerian Army was engaging with Boko Haram. The Military commander in that documentary had his troops dig a trench round their camp. That was his sole and primary line of defense with a T-72 Tank as the spear tip of his defense.

There were so many things wrong in that video which highlighted to me that the Nigerian Army's Officer corp is in dire need of overhawling their existing military manuals.

A T-72 Tank is not needed in fighting BH who had at best in their arsenal light skinned civilian Toyota trucks.

The Toyota trucks can easily outmaneuver an armoured Tank and a Tank needs at least a platoon to form a perimeter defense round it.

Google Toyota War and see how Chadian Rebels were able to defeat the more advanced Libyan army and you will understand what I am talking about.

What is needed against BH are light and blazing squads or platoons constantly in recon patrols and quick to come to each others defense in less than one minute.

100 or more soldiers in one stationary position, cut off from supply lines with poor communications link and support from base command is a juicy target begging to be attacked.

That was why Yaradua was given double promotion. This is the absolute truth and is verifiable

Obasanjo had no hand in who will be his deputy.

It was Danjuma that controlled the army after the Dimka Coup and until 1979.

Buhari was made governor of NE state by Murtala and Danjuma rightfully left him there until Obasanjo decided to give him Minister of Petroleum.

Please you are wrong, read , research and ask medical personals around you. Babies should sleep on their backs.

That is very wrong!

I have had 3 babies and I know what I am talking about.

The best position is on their sides.

The only reason the CDC is assuming the back position is best is because most babies that died of SIDS in the US were found sleeping on their tummy. But there is another research that pin-points SIDS prevalence and poverty in the US with most homes were infants where found dead to have rotten floor boards and the spores from the algae and fungi growing in the rotten word may have been a cause of death.

Believe the CDC and UN at your own peril.

The best position is to lie the baby on their sides.

Their diaphragms are not as strong , so when you lie them on their backs it becomes difficult to breath or cough out.

Try lying on your back and choking and see if you won't want to get up and cough harder. The baby does not have the luxury of getting up in this sleeping position when they are choking.

Even lying on your back as an adult is even wrong as it puts stress on your spinal cord talk more of a little baby whose spine isn't as strong yet.

The key rule is never to keep your baby in one sleeping position. Yous should change their position regurlarly as they sleep and also an infant can not sleep for more than 30mins . The baby should naturally wake up to suckle as their tummy is very small so they need to eat regurlarly.

"I come from a small tribe - the Tarok tribe in Langtang. It is a small tribe from a small group. If the north secures independence from the rest of the country the Hausa/Fulani will be so dominant and will lord over us whether we like it or not. A bigger Nigeria will check such excesses. So the bigger Nigeria, the freer my tribe and myself will be". - Domkat Bali

The above quote credited to Domkat Bali is not synonymous to him alone but to virtually all the Middle-belt Christians that fought an aggressive, brutal and uncivil war to keep Nigeria one and united.

Gowon's hesitation to Murtala's Operation Araba was because he(Gowon) knew what awaits him and his people living under the shadow of the Islamic beast. The civil war was fought by the Middle-Belt to postpone doomsday and as we can discern from what is going on in that part of Nigeria and in the core-north, where christian minorities are targeted in places like Numan, Southern Kaduna and Kebbi - that day of reckoning has finally arrived.

I will not dwell on Danjuma's critical role in ensuring a successful mutiny in 1967 which saw the execution of Ironsi as you are all privy to this but rather I will bring to the fore how Danjuma as one of the most senior Military commanders during the Gowon era saw to the Military being taken over by the Huasa/Fulani.

At independence, the Nigerian Army had a force of just slightly above 10,000 officers and men with just 2% of the Federal annual budget going to her upkeep. Fast-forward to 1970 - just after the civil war - the Nigerian army had swelled to a total of over 250,000 men and accounted for 40% of the National budget.

This was obviously not sustainable from an economic point and the fact that majority of the men who made up the military were war time recruits and draftees who had participated in the most uncivil war, led to a situation of a very highly undisciplined force. The Nigerian army veterans of the civil war were engaged in gun-running, armed robbery and extortion of the general populace because the govt was finding it very difficult to house and pay salaries of the soldiers despite the huge revenue from oil.

The likes of Danjuma were at the forefront demanding that Gowon should purge the army. Gowon was a little hesitant as most of the bulk of NCOs at that time were drawn from the christian middle-belt. Gowon's assertions were that if he de-commissioned most of his ilk from the army, the Hausa/Fulani officers could easily seize power from him. He was right.

Gowon never reduced the seize of the army over fears of the Huasa/Fulani officers staging a coup. To show how popular Gowon was among the NCOs, it was only after Gowon went to attend an AU Congress in Ethiopia that Murtala through Yaradua struck!

Immediately Murtala became Head-of-State, the purge began and most of the middle-belt NCOs and some officers got sacked from the army. The Murtala regime also bypassed most middle-belt officers for promotion and command positions in place of Muslim Hausa/Fulani officers. Banbangida was promoted to Lt-Colonel and was appointed to Murtala's Supreme Military Council. This did not go down well with officers like Dimka who felt cheated out.

The Dimka Coup of 1977 was meant to stop the Fulanization of the military. The Coup plotters were overwhelmingly from the Middle-belt and christian as well. One of the demands by Dimka was that Gowon will return as Head-of State and that all dismissed NCOs will be re-instated.
It should be noted that as Murtala began his purge of NCOs from the middle-belt, there were parallel recruitment of Hausa/Fulani Muslims into the army as well. Dimka was very aware of this northernization and Islamization of the Army by Murtala.

Danjuma still had the opportunity of stopping the northernization and Islamization process after Obasanjo sent word of his resignation from his hiding place that he was not interested in being Head-of State that Danjuma "is free to take over the reigns of power".

Danjuma will have none of that and reminded Obasanjo of what transpired in Jan 15, 1966 after a group of mainly Igbo officers had staged a coup which later saw Ironsi in power and how the north (inclusive of him) saw the coup as an Igbo conspiracy to seize power for themselves.

Danjuma's greatest fear in taking over was that the Huasa/Fulani north will perceive his ascension to Head-of-State after the coup as a repeat of what transpired in 1966. When Obasanjo stated categorically that he will not be part of an organization that can not guarantee his safety, Danjuma told Obasanjo point blank "we will protect you".

Dimka's trial and execution were fast-forwarded and to placate the Hausa/Fulani Muslim north over Murtala's demise, a young officer by the name Shehu Yaradua who was instrumental in orchestrating the coup that saw Murtala into power, was promoted from Lt-Colonel to Lt.General and appointed deputy Chairman of the Supreme Military Council of the Federal Military Govt of Nigeria.

At that time there were only two high ranking Fulani Muslims in the army- Yaradua and Buhari - with Buhari being the senior. Danjuma did not trust Buhari over his radical tendencies and so he was bypassed and his junior Yaradua promoted to Lt-General. Danjuma will keep the position of Chief of Army Staff for himself and from there he completed the purge of Middle-Belt NCOs and Officers from the army.

In 1979, the Obasanjo-Yaradua regime handed over to the democratically elected civilian govt of Shehu Shagari who continued the recruitment of Hausa/Fulani Muslims into the Army in-order to bolster his power base. But Shagari was no Soldier or General and it was those same troops that guarded him at state house that Buhari was able to use to stage a coup to ouster him.

Buhari will then continue the purge of Middle-Belt officers from ranking positions and from the NCO cadre and this will continue under subsequent Military regimes with an Okar coup reminding us of the Huasa/Fulani plan. It wasn't up till 1999 when Obasanjo returned as Civilian Head-Of-State and tried successfully to balance the ethno-religious makeup of the Army.

But with the advent of Buhari in 2015, all that gain made by Obasanjo in trying to balance the army was shoved aside with massive sack of non-Hausa/Fulani muslim officers from the force.

Danjuma did not have the foresight to understand the extent at which the Fulani will go to secure every means of power or maybe he never knew that Nigerians will be stupid enough to elect a known bigot to the highest office.

Part of the info you put out there is erroneous and I thought to point it out, so you can correct that.

The recommended sleeping position for infants below 6months is, lying on the back or at most, by the side. Putting infants on their tummies is a no no, as the position narrows their airways and makes it difficult to expel regurgitated food, while asleep.

Here's a link for more info. You can also check online to garner enough information https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/sudden-infant-death-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20352800 on this.

Politics / Buhari's Autism Traced To Suckling Cow Milk As An Infant by BlowBack: 5:52pm On Mar 25, 2018
For the medical research on the links between cow-milk fed infants to Autism see link https://nutritionfacts.org/video/autism-and-casein-from-cows-milk/

It is no secret that as a fulani boy growing up, Buhari suckled directly from cow tits and that he has grown to display signs of gross stupidity, but emerging research has finally found the link between autism and other mental retardation disorders in infants with feeding of cow milk.

Could Buhari be an autistic child ?

‘’What happened was that the abduction itself was a breach of the ceasefire talks between the insurgents and the government, hence it became a moral burden on the abductors. Any report that we paid ransom or engaged in prisoner swap is false,’’ he said.
